PS3 Games You Will Never Platinum & Why?

367 posts in this topic

Grand Theft Auto IV - I have no problems with long online but this game has never appealed to me.

Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena - I am very bad with fighting games and he wants dedication, which I do not intend to give him. I know, so you buy games that you do not like? ... good question.

The King of Fighters XIII / Marvel vs. Capcom 3 / Asrcana Hearth 3 / Mortal Kombat - I have the trophies online but I could not with Arcana Heart 3 and I decided to leave all the fighting games as impossible. Easier for me ^ o ^ '

UFC 2009 Undisputed - I bought it because my brother practiced the sport, I gave him online until I found the random trophy, which is to make a K.O. In a short time, I tried but ... and now I do not want to go back.

Raiden IV: Overkill - When I was a child I liked these games of ships but get the platinum, especially this game, is impossible for me.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma: Plus - I wanted it with enthusiasm but when I saw that the left stick of my beloved Vita is getting damaged by the rod that I put it I left it, this one that hurts me not to plat it. But it does not compensate me if I have to catch several vitas ^ o ^

Dragon Finn Soup - No patch no platinum.

SkyForge Too many months and have to be constantly raising levels, it does not compensate me to stop playing other games to dedicate me only has this.

Today I look a lot more and be more honest with myself, it's the best.

Silent Hill 2, because I just can't beat that boat section in under 80 seconds. The controls are so bad, it's not even funny. I'll keep trying though and maybe get lucky one day.

WRC 4: Just 4 trophies left. But online was dead even back in 2015

I platted this game on PS3 a few weeks ago. Online is still alive enough to not even require a boosting partner. It might look dead when you try to join a server using "Quick match" and I never got that to work. The best thing though is to just start a lobby yourself. I have done on weekdays in the evening (EU region) and had players join within minutes. We've even had races with 5 or 6 people at a time. I got all trophies without boosting in just a couple of evenings.

RiverCity All Star Sports Challenge.

As I said in another topic, it sucks. Bad. The fighting controls do NOT register well applied to sporting events. All the jumping, running, swimming and other acts of athletisicm come off as awkward and stiff, and if you are a trophy hunter, the requirements are so vague and unclear, not helped by the fact that there is no chapter select feature, meaning you have to accomplish such tasks such as clearing Very Hard, near flawlessly, whilst performing every type of move imaginable with an under-leveled character. Why under-leveled? BECAUSE, every time you start a new Story mode, you have to create A NEW CHARACTER EVERY TIME. The game forbids you from carrying over characters from previous playthroughs.

- 2010 FIFA World Cup:  Servers closed, a loooong time ago.

-Persona 4: Mayonaka AreanaScore attack mode is a nightmare, definitely not for casuals, i actually like fighting games, but i'm used to arcade stick controllers, so i hope someday i can get one and try this game for real.

-Battlefantasia: Almost the same as above, i don't like to play fighting games with the PS3 controller

-Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock: I've been for several months trying to beat a song in Expert but i'm not very skilled (yet), i'm not the best , but neither the worst, i hope i can come back to this post someday and erase this one,

R.U.S.E.

One trophy is:

40Sfae147.pngBest Enemies
Play a four-player game with your friends only

I don't like Multiplayer; if I need to do it for online trophies, I'll do what has to be done and then I'm out. Thus, I don't have PSN friends, and I don't boost. Trophies like that are unobtainable for me, so I moved on when I started to lose interest in the game.

hmm, among those I'd care to finish?

Littlebigplanet Karting - cannot connect to servers. ultra maddening
Binary Domain - stuck on that gd ape bot.. srsly, it's the worst >.<
Race the Sun - 50 mid air tris in one run. will keep trying, but skeptical

Overlord II - servers closed, otherwise fair game

Starwhal - missing (suck at) about half the top tier challenges

TMNT Mutants in Manhattan - utter garbage at it
Fallout : New Vegas - nearly there but game crashes literally every 5 min

I don´t even know all the games I have started or are waiting sealed in the wardrobe or ps plus backlog.

Most of the time I´m on the hunt for that best game ever and I hate most of the online trophies.

Started too late with gaming (my dream at youth, but not allowed) to be a skilled gamer and trophy hunter.

Out of curiousity, what age do you consider "too late" to start gaming? Only reason I ask is my geriatric neighbor and his two sons in their 50's picked up gaming a couple years ago, and they're pretty awesome. If an 80 year old can be among the first to platty Borderlands 2 and run through kids on Xcom, or wreck some VR, then I really doubt anyone else is "too late" xD

A dishonorable mention would be Cross Edge, one of the worst JRPGs I've ever played.

I thought cross edge was fun. Was my 1st cross over game. Combat was confusing.  And i grew to not like it. Akin w record of agrest war 2 or zero. I forget what one had identical combat x.x.

I got lost and confused xD might need to go back to it as i bought the pp packs and just made 1 unit stupid power full.

I do love how it has toons from the orginal altlieir games (ps2 era) disgaea. Dark stalkers. Was awsome.

Slightly better cross over is trinity universe. Abit of a slog for trophys. But has atypical turnbase combat. And disgaea level comedy.

As its set in disgaea universe iirc. Been ages.

Gotta go back to them someday lol

  • Spaz : I have money and value it, would rather help a family member that is in need then buy incomplete games and DLCs. I am not interested in future consoles because of what the gaming industry has turned into now, will be the trend forever. I despise incomplete games; DLCs; micro-transactions; loot boxes; pay-to-win; locked in-game content; and other BS related, greedy practices. If games did not have Trophies/Achievements, I would definitely buy future games and consoles that I really want to play. I am just a completionist-type of person, and do not want to worry about Trophies/Achievements anymore. I own more PS3 games with no Trophy support whatsoever than PS3 games that do. Yeah, I have 17 different consoles and 8 handheld devices to fall back on, to enjoy, and collect games that I did not own when I was I kid. That is why I am going back to retro gaming, just playing for fun. Also, I do not have to worry about how difficult a game is before buying it, and no more getting irate on some Trophies/Achievements.

I did the opposite.

Much of my history with gaming is Nintendo. I played everything from Donkey Kong in the arcades (they still had old arcade games in some places in the mid - late 90s) to the original Game Boy to the NES. If you were to ask me my favorite consoles of all time, it would be the SNES and Genesis followed by the NES and N64.

I understand a lot of people, especially older gamers have decided to virtually ignore everything with an EA or Activision label attached to it as both companies have gone too far off the deep end. Nintendo has done things that helped bring back the old charm we saw as kids in the 80s and 90s, but to be frank I stopped buying their products because I feel they have produced too much of the same thing, over and over. I am not interested in buying a Donkey Kong game or a Zelda game that draws too many parallels to Donkey Kong Country on the SNES or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64. I want Nintendo to bring out new IPs that bring out of a breath of fresh air. The only companies doing that right now are the small independent companies who give two damns about their player base.

And truth be told, around 90 - 95 percent of everybody who plays games couldn't give two shits about achievements/trophies. I play for fun too, I'm not trying to prove I'm one of the best trophy hunters or one of the most skilled gamers in speed runs or anything of that nature. You sound like you're quitting mostly because you're sick of it all.

If you're quitting because you're sick of Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Bungie and all those other giant corporate AAA companies then I completely understand. But don't discredit everything new because there are some gems out there.

I would suggest going to Steam if you want more of a variety with games that require a mouse and keyboard. Not necessarily League of Legends, Overwatch, DOTA 2 and those other mega popular games everybody streams on Twitch. Yes, there is a ton of crap on Steam, moreso than what's available on PSN, but there are some gems as well. Most of the good stuff has gone indie/underground. Same goes for television, music and movies.

While I would prefer the actual consoles, mine have stopped working. I would have to buy a good NES that still works off of eBay, or a Playstation 1 that can still read CDs. To me this would be a hassle, because not only would I have to hook them up, I would have to hook them up to a CRT television that has plug ins. Every HD television has HDMI or better, you can't hook up your old consoles to it unless you buy an adapter of some sort.

I use emulators and ROMs. I have the actual games obviously, but again it's too much of a hassle so I play them on my computer. It's not the same experience, but that's the closest I can get to enjoying the older gamers to their fullest.

The world sucks right now and much of what I see these days pales in comparison to what I saw back in the 1990s, and even the early 2000s for that matter. Creativity has taken a downhill slide, there is a reason why indie games are doing so good recently. To me, what it sounds like you're trying to say is the movie like experiences in video games have turned you off. What was once an escape from reality is anything but an escape from reality. The 1980s to the early - mid 2000s had games that served as an escape from reality, and had overall more going for them then then games are today.

I usually do everything I can to not be stuck in the past. It's difficult, but sometimes it's best to move on.

Do what pleases you most. Trophy hunting was never a contract. Really the whole point is to have fun. If you're not having fun, then why are you still doing it?

Quantum of Solace. I did almost all the singleplayer trophies but unfortunately the online servers seem to be down making this platinum unobtainable.

FIFA 14. Online was recently shut down and some features arent't available anymore

Injustice. This game is pretty fun but it's way too much of a grind for me. I did most Multiplayer stuff but the Star labs and Battle Mode are extremely time consuming and hard so I'm going to get most of the other trophies out of the way to have a decent % and leave it at that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Didn't get the multiplayer trophy on time. Will probably do all the other trophies sometime in the near future though.

Grand Theft Auto V. With bounties being removed from the game, I will never platinum this game. I still plan on getting most other trophies though.

Grand Turismo 5. Haven't unlocked any trophies (luckily) but with 2 trophies being unobtainable and the grind being very long, I probably won't even add this game to my list.

Spaz: My favorite system of all the time was the PS2 because it had so much RPGs that I put in many hours playing, and tons of great titles overall. I have the most games for the PS2 than my other systems and handhelds. My second favorite system of all time is the Panasonic 3DO, almost own all the games for it, the majority missing are games released only in Japan. I really loved the light gun games for the 3DO like Crime Patrol, Drug Wars, and Space Pirates. Coming in third would be the SNES, another system with awesome RPGs and must have titles with iconic video game characters.

I agree with you on that, companies producing the same thing. Got tired of Mario and Sonic for years now, have not bought a single game that featured them since 2005. There are no new IPs that interest me to buy future consoles. Plus, I barely purchase Indie developed games because they are mostly digital, I fancy the actual copies of games as you can tell. I have no PC or smartphone games whatsoever. I play 100% on consoles and handhelds when I am on the go like the Nomad. Out of all my systems and handhelds, only my original “FAT” PS3 stopped working and had to get it fixed numerous times by a local console repair specialist. Yes, I have adapters and different televisions in my game room.

I am not a Trophy/Achievement Hunter, nor trying to prove anything. I just like to finish what I have started if possible with games that have Trophy/Achievement support. Also, they are games I want to play and own like Duke Nukem Forever, G.I Joe, and Splatterhouse. I do not play games just for Trophies/Achievements. That is right, I am retiring from Trophies and Achievements, trying to earn Online rewards for my older games before servers close. Then, I can work on the offline stuff anytime if I decide to replay some games like Gran Theft Auto IV, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Rage. Like I said before, I own more PS3 games without Trophy support. I still buy PS3/360 games without any reward systems. I do plan to buy more games in the future with Trophies/Achievements for my PS3/360 if I get that 'itch' again.

I will never stop gaming, instead of buying future consoles and the games for them, I will continue to buy games for my older consoles that I have never owned when I was a kid and wanted to play, mostly Japan and Europe imported games.

By the way, I have started a Uncharted 2 Boosting Session for my very last Online Trophy Set. Please, join if interested, let us get 100% Trophy completion. Barely nobody plays online, and I have a feeling that the PS3 Uncharted 2 servers will close for good soon enough.

Panasonic 3DO, that's a pretty obscure one.

Again I must say don't discredit everything new. There are some gems out there. I used to have the same attitude for a lot of Nintendo games and felt the Nintendo Wii was a mere shell of what the SNES and N64 put out. But I finally forced myself to play some of the exclusives on that console and found myself actually enjoying them quite a lot.

You won't get new IPs but you also won't purchase hardly any indie games. And you have nothing on Steam since Steam is exclusively on PC and Mac. I'm sorry but you're greatly limiting yourself in what games you're going to be playing.

I definitely recommend titles like Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth as they are a throwback to the older generation. I've played all three games and I must say they are very fun. Sonic Mania is fairly recent and I greatly enjoyed that game since I was a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan back in the day. It's not without it's flaws but it's the closest thing we have these days to a real, classic Sonic game experience.

If you don't care for trophies and achievements at all then you can make a new account and not sign it up to PSNProfiles or Xbox Achievements. I don't know why you signed up to make a profile here since most of us, including myself, enjoy collecting trophies. I still enjoy collecting trophies and will do so in the foreseeable future.

I will soon be preordering the new God of War set to release in a few months, but I'm also on the lookout for any new indie titles from smaller developers and will consider making purchases when the time comes.

I suppose you own games like Resistance 1, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Call of Duty 3 and Assassins Creed 1. All were released within 2006 - 2007, so what you're simply saying is you own more games from the first couple years of the PS3 generation than you do with games that were released after 2008. 2008 - 2009 was the time when almost every game came out with trophies.

To me it just sounds like you're fixated on a certain era of gaming and you're refusing to try out anything new or anything that's been released in the past few years. That is a bad attitude to have because live evolves and times change. I enjoy the classics as much as anyone else does, in fact I have a small collection of NES/Genesis/N64/SNES/PS1/PS2 games simply because I like to have collections. We can learn a lot from the past, but we shouldn't dwell in the past. I dwelled in the past before and it made me very depressed. It doesn't hurt to try new things every now and then, I've been doing this for years now and I've never regretted doing so.

The NES Classic was targeted specifically for people who grew up on the NES and wanted to cherish the days when you had to rely on Nintendo Power to get hints and clues for most games. Maybe this is something you would like to have. Again I'm not saying that what you want to do is completely wrong, I'm simply suggesting that you should be doing more than just limiting yourself to just games from the past.

It's like the people who refuse to think anything after the year 1989 or 1999 is good. This is a very bad attitude to have, because they are stuck in the past. Music, movies, television, video games, virtually any entertainment medium goes through changes and phases. Open your eyes and expand your horizon. You may just as well enjoy something you initially thought wasn't going to be any good.

Gran Turismo 5: i have it at 40% but anyway i don't have the onlines. So any effort to platinum it will be a waste of time (or not, because i love this game but this plat is really very difficult).

GTA V: Had the game much before from the trophy disabled 'Run Like The Wind' but i hate online so never played online until i saw this news.

Killzone 2: Killzone ever was a game that i want to play, but in my situation i cannot buy everything what i want (even in my country). So i bought the trilogy pack when i noticed the servers closure. But right now, DLCs are delisted so 100% it's impossible for me, and people doing 'Valor Grand Cross' are making a really challenge to earn it that requires a lot of time i don't have.

Online trophies sucks.

Battlefantasia: Beat the final boss without getting hit is difficult for me and he has a screen wide attack that is very hard to evade

Far Cry 2: I rented the game, played it for a bit, never bothered with it again. Not to mention the online is balls to deal with

Blur: Another rental that I don't actually own

Street Fighter IV: I rented, hated it, never want to play it again

Guitar Hero Metalica: I'm good at guitar and that's it, it requires drums and vocals which I'm awful at.

Guitar Hero Van Halen: Same as above.

Ghost Busters: Server shutdown

Guitar Hero Smash Hits: Same as the other ones.

Band Hero: rented

Rock Band 2: While I'm good at guitar, anything else is a no

Rock Band 3: Same as above

IL-2 Strumovik: Rented

LEGO Rock Band: Rented

Lost Planet 2: Online leader board is hacked and I can't get #1 Nom

Overlord 2: Online servers shut down

Sports Champions: If I understand I'd need a 2nd move, don't want to buy one

Playstation Move Heroes: Need a 2nd move, don't want to buy one

Persona 4 Arena: The challenges and Score Attack are the biggest road blocks
