I'm sure a few years back it actually had meaning and did celebrate all of women's victories over history and how they have rights but not anymore. There is a men's day in November but there's never been a theme or anything for it nor does anyone talk about it, I would enjoy these types of things a lot more if they were actually treated equally but unfortunately they aren't. It's just a theme though. They aren't doing much else. A good portion of themes are big boobs and "gamer guy" oriented, so that's what is geared towards males. Gaming is traditionally regarded as a male dominated activity. Someone decided, hey, let's show a little love for the ladies, and what we get is a semi cute theme. It's not SJW or anything. It's not about equality. It's a thing to celebrate women on a particular day through this medium. Also, my apologies for the multiple tags and quotes. My phone spazzed out on me and I'm not able to fix it. Edited March 8, 2019 by Parker Fixed the quotes

Popular Post fastflowdaman
Always happy when a female speaks their mind about bs like this. Then again, @LuciaRosethorn IS a female, hopefully. Where's the LGBTandsoon theme? Where's the furry attack helicopter theme? Where's the strong black anything theme? Stop with the segregating bullshit already. There is a rainbow/pride “for the players” theme. I think it has actual custome icons so is more than a lame wallpaper too. But yeah, as a le gay, who cares. I don’t need “gay themes” to know I can play video games. Or gay characters for that matter. Female characters aren’t new. They’ve been around for decades. Stop making it a big deal. International Women’s Day is just International Hypocrisy Day to me. Virtually every company that does something for it does nothing for International Men’s Day (and they sure as hell never make themes dedicated to straight pride - which I have no issue with btw, what’s good for the goose and all that). either celebrate all people or none. That’s actual equality. I’d lean toward celebrating merit/achievement over happenstance of birth.
Popular Post Crispy_Oglop
There is no International Men's Day theme because ultimately as a gender we haven't spent a great deal of the last century (and beyond) repressed and controlled by the opposite sex en masse in one way, shape or form. This is pretty straightforward logic. I'm honestly surprised at some of the people pushing back on this and that this has to be explained to people. I find it unreal how there is always, always without fail on every public forum you go to comments related to 'International Men's Day' around the subject of 'International Women's Day'. It's like an awkward broken record now that just keeps skipping and skipping. Just enjoy the day. If you don't enjoy it, or object to it just go shout into a pillow or a toy phone. It used to be 'Why is there no International Men's Day?' until those voices realized that there actually was an International Men's Day and we were just utterly shit at celebrating it. Now it's been diverted to 'why there isn't a version of an International Men's Day thing' to counter an International Women's Day thing that has happened. It's cringeworthy. To my fellow male folk - just let go. Be happy and celebrate. Don't make this about you. Don't be afraid of it, it's not going to make your johnson shrink or devalue your gender in some way. Don't treat this as something that excludes you if you aren't a woman either, it's an incredible inclusive thing. I have many women in my life who I look up to and I'm happy this day exists so I can reflect on what they've done for me and how they inspire me. It's meant to be a positive day for one and all to celebrate. Quick Edit: If you don't have a theme which represents you, then that's important - but it's probably better to petition Sony directly, rather than use this thread as a launchpad to make that happen. Complaining on PSNProfiles won't get you closer to that goal. Edited March 8, 2019 by Crispy_Oglop

crimsonidol38
Wouldn't be a theme I would use personally but I have to say that the wallpaper for this year's theme looks much better than the one from 2018 as it's way more cheerful and actualyl feels like it's a wallpaper to celebrate the day. Whereas the one from 2018 looks way too serious.
fastflowdaman
Comments by the "people who understand" show why it is so important that members of the seemingly-favored "minority" of the moment speak out against the respective idiocy. Women against Women's day, gays against LGBT day and so on. I as a male am in no favor of a Men's day, to be clear about that (then again, it's not like I have the right to, being the entitled privileged white heterosexual man that I am). I'd be all for a "Strong Heroes Theme" where gender and sexuality were no issue at all, showing a cast of interesting heroes and heroines. And to all those "heroes" here "fighting the good fight": Divide et impera. Edited March 8, 2019 by fastflowdaman

The same event the boys were locked in a school and burned alive by Boko Haram, but nobody who cared about the kidnapped girls even bothered to pretend to care for the murdered boys. Since they didn’t actually care at all, since they didn’t bother to look at the issue deeply just virtue signal with a hashtag. After all, girls and women are the only people that oppression effects. That’s how the world works. Meteor hits Earth, women most effected. But hey, said terrorist group learned a valuable lesson that day. When they wanted publicity all those years they were making the mistake of murdering men and boys. All they had to do for global attention was to kidnap some girls. We can’t solve a single issue only looking at half of the world. But keep on keeping on. Women are defined by being victims after all. Seeing the world for the messed up place it is for everyone is sexist. Only women have ever been victims. If we just ignore reality. Like the white feather brigade shaming men and boys into goin to war and dying, even if they had already been on the frontlines and just got home. after all, men who don’t lay down their lives for women are worthless and worthy of scorn from society. The draft is very much oppression. Being forced into war against your will. No way it would still exist if it applied to women, yet men still have to register. I wonder why that is. Hmm. Equality sure is a funny thing. It’s application seems a bit off. But hey, gotta make up for that revisionist history we crafted where men just oppressed all women. Who needs actual hisotry, we have feelings. And if there’s one thing everyone “progressive” knows it’s that women are and always have been helpless victims of men. Female black smiths? Impossible! Oh right, they did exist... strange. But don’t let that get in the way of viewing all of history as oppression of women and female victim hood. That’s empowering!
Guest
Are you guys aware that Sony is tampering with the PS Store user ratings for this "theme"? I rated this theme 1 star and then 1 minute later the store registers that as a 5 star rating! Notice how all 154 ratings (shown on the image below) fill all 5 stars as if not a single person has rated this at least 4 stars? What the f**k Sony! What were they thinking getting away with what EA pulled off with Dungeon Keeper Mobile a few years back, this time through the means of expressing Political Correctness? Sony is so full of s**t, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS5 was announced under the name of the "PlayStation V". V is for Va***a, PS Va***a. No longer is "V" the Roman Numeral for 5. How no one else has taken notice of this is beyond my comprehension. This is PR damaging business tactics, now we just need someone to take this to Twitter. I see the point you are attempting to make here. But while you have some valuable commentary in parts - it's not really relevant to anything i've said. If you chop away all of the filler in your reply, i think the singular important point you are trying to raise, and something that should be discussed is condensed as: 'We can’t solve a single issue only looking at half of the world.' But while that is an incredibly intelligent statement - that's not what this is about and not the point i've clearly raised. You are entitled to your opinions of course, but while some of your comments have merit - they aren't entirely relevant to an International Women's day PSN theme. There are always battles to fight in achieving general equality, but appropriating one to push the plight of another is pointless and doesn't do either any good. I'm gonna step away from this now, this is a gaming site and it's stopped being about the theme (or gaming) itself - i'm partially responsible for fueling that conversation. I don't normally switch out of gaming brain when i'm on this site and talk about real world issues so i'm going to stay on topic and head off to another corner of the site where the trophies are. Good luck and peace out Edited March 8, 2019 by Crispy_Oglop

Some people say every day is mens day, which of course is retarded because women are already being treated far better than men in the areas that really count. Some say there is one, but no one gives a shit about it, which is not too far from the truth. The truth is that men do not need a dedicated day to pat themselves on the back, because we are above that, we know we do most of the hard shit and know no one is really thankful for it. Women feel the need to be praised and celebrated for even existing all the time nowadays, most of them anyway, because they are actually quite insecure, or just way too pampered depending on who you ask. I do not really mind, may they have their womens day if it shuts the annoying ones up a bit more during the rest of the year. Any women I ever respected thinks the thought of women needing a womens day is insulting, and they are right. On the picture, it looks ok. Nothing great, nothing bad, just ranging between meh and ok, nothing I would ever use though. Quote Are you guys aware that Sony is tampering with the PS Store user ratings for this "theme"? Thought so after seeing the overly positive rating of what is a mediocre piece of work at best. Nothing new here and nothing worth getting angry over, not with the ongoing shitshow that is Captain Marvel and the damage control that is currently happening, removing whole features to make this movie look better than it is. All it does is devalue any politicially correct piece of work with an actual good rating because you have to assume that every good rating for these products is faked. Funny how they shoot themselves in the foot. Edited March 8, 2019 by Nighcisama

You are gleeful about watching “men get upset”, while telling people they have growing up to do... “especially in regards to empathy”. Yes, they do. And you are one of them. People wanting men and women treated the same isn’t inclusive? What nonsense. It’s the exact thing everyone should be striving for. If nobody celebrates International men’s day, why should we do the reverse? How is that inclusive? It’s excluding men from something women get. If we don’t do both, then we shouldn’t do either. Equality and empathy are clearly words you don’t understand.
