Heads up for people who are about to beat the game [SOLVED]

So after spending 8 hours doing sub stories, getting collectibles and increasing my Majima everywhere to S rank all the way from B rank. I decided to head into the final mission. too bad the game DOESN"T WARN YOU that when you beat the game it will load the last save file, meaning those 8 hours i spend cleaning up a lot of the end game stuff has all gone to absolute shit and i have to re-do it all again for trophies sake. So for anyone heading into the final mission (the game will tell you when there's a point of no return), Be warned and SAVE YOUR GAME. Don't let all your effort be in vain.

This is by far the most frustrating mechanic i've ever seen in a videogame. 8 hours of work gone. Why the hell doesn't the game tells us it will load the last save before you head into the final mission and why doesn''t it make a save on its own? smh, I'm so done with freaking Majima and now i have to fight him like 40 times again.

You sure you can't go to Premium Adventure and pick up where you left off? It's on the title screen. I didn't do a lot of Haruka missions or Majima or even all substories before I beat the game and I just picked up where I left off in Premium adventure. If you didn't save in 8 hours, maybe you are correct but hopefully going to Premium adventure will have what you want.

Because Japan.

Somebody should make a trophy guide for this game.  I have it there from PS+ and been wanting to play it but heard too many bad things such as this one, that could make the trophies even more painful.

Thank god this works. Didn't knew about this but still dumb how the game handles normal saves.

Now that's solved, I would suggest adding a note to the opening post just so you don't spread any misinformation.

Also, you should probably save more often in the games you play that don't have an autosave. I mean going 8 hours without saving is very risky. It's a good thing the Yakuza games aren't prone to crashing or else you really would have been screwed. :P

Yeah i ussually do but saving in Yakuza takes like a full minute and you can only do it at specific places so i wasn't too eager.

Actually you can save while in the pause menu. It's in the System tab I think.

> Pause game

> Save/Settings

> Save

Pretty sure the game tells you this right at the start.

This is the norm with Yakuza games, it's done in every title. Once you beat the final chapter the game asks to make a new save called Clear Save that can be used either on Premium Adventure or for New Game+. For New Game+ you start the game from the beginning with only your levels/abilities unlocked, money and equipment collected, everything else like substories, minigame progress that you didn't complete, etc, are reset. The game even warns you to use a different save slot for it.

Also a warning. If you load the clear save for Premium Adventure when your saving on that mode save on a different slot. The save from Premium Adventure can only be used on it. So if you're planning on doing something on Premium Adventure mode thinking it will carry on to another playthrough then bad news, it won't.

I started premium adventure and then saved over the 'game clear data' now i cant enter premium game with any saved data anymore. i jsut have my pre-final mission save (the one where i ddint save for 8 hours) and a game save that can only be used on 'continue game'' but is my post-game premium adventure save that saved over the game clear data. So im not sure if i fucked up but i guess ill find out after i get all the completion done and start doing legend mode

There are only two things you really need for Legend Mode (you don't really need them to clear Legend it's more that it helps in reducing the difficulty greatly).

The first is the unlocked abilities/maxing level since it makes the start of the game trivial. I always considered the first boss the hardest of the bosses, excluding the secret ones like Amon or Komaki, in all Yakuza games since you're limited with your abilities when you first start.

The second thing is the Golden Gun. This is a gun with unlimited ammo and it can defeat normal enemies with 2-3 shots that they can't defend. It also helps with bosses since they can't defend against it and even if they take low damage it freezes them in place, for some bosses it doesn't happen but just keep some distance to the boss and spam shots at them and they'll go down. Heck the only thing hard about Legend Mode is the shooting minigame after saving Haruka from the Chinese gang.

Will ill be able to do legend mode with my save file that is from an overwritten game clear data on normal difficulty?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but in the other Yakuza games (I've not played Kiwami yet), you can create clear save data from within Premium Adventure mode that can be used in NG+. For Kiwami, I think you can do it from inside Serena.

I haven't tried that. Kiwami is the only one i played/am playing sicne it was free on ps+. How it was for this game is that when i beated the game on normal difficulty. it had me made a clear game data. But when i went into premium adventure and saved over the game clear data is changed the type of save file to a non-game clear data. So if i wanted to start premium adventure now i would have to do that witouth game clear data and all the way from scratch. thats why i am woried i can't carry anything over. sicne im now playing from a post-game ''continue game'' save file instead of a a ''game clear data'' save file

Well like I said, you should be able to create another clear save data anytime you want from Premium Adventure mode at Serena. I don't know what exactly carries over to NG+, but you can do cleanup in that mode, create the clear save data, and then proceed to NG+ using that clear save. That's how it works in all the other games at least.

If you're in a post-game save file you can make a game clear data save by going into Serena and using one of the doors. Everything you have like equipment along with whatever else you've done like Majima Everywhere and Completion List carries over. So you aren't really screwed out of anything if I'm reading this right.

That's good to know. I had the idea that it was impossible since I never encountered that option in any Yakuza game even when I saved at Serena. I probably just never noticed that it was clear save whenever I saved there since I never had a reason to replay the game except for Legend which I only needed the golden gun (which I always had with my first clear save). My bad for the wrong info.

About what carries over, from what I remember and what was stated on a guide I followed:

  • Experience
  • Money
  • Gambling Currency (Casino Chips, Gambling Tags, Mahjong Sticks, Shogi Points)
  • Items
  • Abilities (you keep Komaki's abilities although the game unlocks his training like you never did it)
  • Majima Everywhere Rank and Progress (once you complete the first meeting where you probably lost the first time it goes back to how it was when you made the clear save)
  • CP Rewards and Completion Points
  • Mahjong Ranking and Shogi Ranking
  • Completion List:
    • All Adventure
    • All Battle except for training with Komaki
    • All Majima Everywhere
    • All Minigames
  • Play Log:
    • Food/Drink
    • Heat Actions
    • Weapon/Gear/Accessories
    • Coliseum
    • Majima Everywhere
    • For Minigames: the fact that you've completed them is preserved, but progress is reset in this list for everything except Pocket Circuit Components and MesuKing Cards.

Basically, what doesn't carry over are:

  • Story Progress
  • Substories
  • Locker Keys (Meaning you can get all those items a second time, including another set of Cheat Items)

Like Redgrave said, go to the Serena door (where you change outfits inside the bar) and you can update the save to carry over to legendary. Do EVERY trophy in premium and then go to Serena and save it. This allows you to carry all items but NOT substories to legendary.

I just checked and you can indeed create game clear data from serena. But 1 more thing. if i use the game clear data i create in serana right now. and go to premium adventure using that data, do i make a new save or overwrite game clear data to keep playing on premium adventure? or is it jsut gonna turn it into a normal save file again?

Pretty sure you can overwrite it if you want but it's best not to just in case. I would always have a second save slot. Then when you're ready to move on to Legend difficulty you can do another game clear data so that way you have other items or money that can carry over, namely the Climax Battle items and Golden Gun.
