Hey PSNP, 

 

The next interview is here. @ShogunCroCop actually finished this last month. I apologize for the long delay since the previous interview, real life stuff got in the way. Have fun reading it.

 

Stock Questions

How did you come up with your PSN name?

Honestly, I just combined the names of 2 UFC fighters (Shogun Rua and MIrko Cro Cop) because I couldn't think of anything else.

 

What games convinced you get your PlayStation 3, Playstation Vita, and PlayStation 4?

I was actually gifted a PS3 for Christmas by my ex-wife, who I was still married to a the time. I had previously been on a PS2 that I bought used from a friend in 2006. I don't own a Vita, and there was no particular game per se that made me upgrade to PS4, but I did buy the Batman Arkham Knight bundle PS4, so that would be the game if I had to pick one.

 

What are your top 5 game series and why?

This is difficult. Uncharted and Red Dead Redemption are definitely in my Top 5. I'd also have to say the Arkham series, Telltale's Walking Dead, and Assassin's Creed. For me, the "why" would be the storylines in most of those series. Batman was compelling, as was Uncharted and RDR. The Walking Dead was really emotional and though it had its flaws when making choices, in large part, I felt as if I was a part of the game, not just playing it. And Assassin's Creed, mainly just because I am a history buff, and I love how they intertwine significant historical moments into the storylines and plots of Assassins and Templars.

 

What are your top 5 games and why?

Top 5 games are RDR2, AC Origins, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, and Journey. I love open world, so RDR2 and AC Origins made the list because of storyline, gameplay, and Open World Concepts. I loved The Last of Us for all the same reasons everyone else did. Emotional storytelling, amazing graphics and gameplay, and full immersion into the characters and their lives. And Uncharted 4 was the culmination of a great series, and a great sendoff for protagonist and hero, Nathan Drake.

 

Do you have any other hobbies outside of gaming?

Plenty. I love collecting action figures, and I also love Netflix, and sports. I do fantasy sports (football and baseball), and I usually go to the movies once a month. I also love card games, playing poker, rummy, and hearts.

 

Top 5 TV shows, Movies, and/or anime, why, and would you recommend them to people?

Top 5 TV shows: This is Us, A Million Little Things, House, Seinfeld, and A-Team. I would recommend all of them, even though 3 of the shows are not currently on TV, bu they can be found on Netflix or Hulu. Seinfeld is the best comedy. House is the best hospital style show. he A-Team was the last great manly show. And the other 2? All kinds of feels.

 

 Top 5 movies: Godfather, Braveheart, Die Hard, Independence Day, and the X-Men movies. I loved the X-Men as a kid, and while Die Hard and Independence Day are a bit campy, they are two of the most quotable films of all time. Braveheart is a classic, and I loved mafia films, growing up in New Jersey. None of them were as great or as poignant as Godfather.

 

Top 5 favorite music bands/group/artist?

Hinder, Bon Jovi, Eminem, Johnny Cash, and Toto.

 

Your favorite platinum?

Madden 13, because of the difficulty it took to get it.

 

Your least favorite platinum?

Little Adventure on the Prairie. I felt like it was the easiest, most corny platinum ever.

 

Have you ever been tempted to switch over to the Xbox/Nintendo/PC gaming ecosystems?

I started with PC, and all of my friends play Xbox, but no, I'll never move away from Playstation.

 

If you could have one game from any gaming generation be remade or re-released what would it be?

The entire F.E.A.R. series. I feel it is one of the most underrated, underappreciated series of all time. They did fumble the plot line a bit, but even after the 3rd game, there was still potential for more. The first game never had achievements and was single player only. I'd love for even just that to be remastered and given a trophy list.

 

How far are you willing to go for a platinum?

It all depends on the game. I try my best to always go for the platinum, but if there ar games I don't like, I'll just play the story. 

 

What feature (besides backwards compatibility) do you think the next console generation should have?

 Holograms. The ability for a holographic UI right in your gaming area so you can literally be part of the game. Sort of like VR, but without the goggles.

 

What is your favorite thing about PSNP?

The people. Always friendly, always helpful, and the competitions/events are great too.

 

What is your least favorite thing about PSNP?

Gaming sessions. What is the point? They always seem to be mishandled, abused, etc.

 

Is there anyone in the PSNP Community you would like to give a shout out too and if so why?

Shoutouts to everyone. We are all on PSNP, so everyone is my homie.

 

 

Member Questions

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

I would be a sequoia...strong, grounded, unwavering...just like my personality. I would be resolute. 

 

Fruit Stripe Gum, Ouch Bubble Gum, or Bubble Tape?

Fruit Stripe. I like the amazing flavors. I never had Ouch, and Bubble Tape is too plain for my liking.

 

If you could plat one of the unfinished game series on your list of Assassin Creed,God of War, and Batman; which series would it be and why?

Batman. It was a very good series and one of the easier t get plats. I just never bothered to do all of the requirements for the platinums because I was mainly playing for the story.

 

What's your favorite NFL team and how was the Superbowl this year to ya?

My favorite NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys. The Super Bowl was boring. While I do enjoy good defenses, the scoring was a bit too low, and I am tired of the Patriots playing in it every year.

 

If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Mac and cheese...I know that sounds childish, but I am not much of a cook and it's the only thing I know how to prepare well. So if it ever came down to it, that' be my choice.

 

Why choose Mauricio shogun Rua and Mirko cro cop to represent your username? What is it about them that you like?

Ah, you found out the secret behind my username. Rua was always a favorite ever since the Pride FC match against Rampage Jackson in 2005. I also liked Cro Cop from Pride, and so when he went to UFC, I followed, and allowed him to help me enjoy UFC as well. Both of their styles, forme, were unconventional. The signature soccer kick of Shogun was beautiful, and I like the tenacity of Cro Cop, leving and making comebacks in both Pride and UFC. Shogun vs CroCop was always a match I wanted to see, but alas, never happened.

Favorite movie?

I have a lot, but my all time favorite has to be The Godfather. Growing up in New Jersey, a mob hotbed, it makes me feel at home every time I watch it. Plus, it has outstanding actors and a great score.

 

Favorite Survival Horror game and why is it soma and the existential questions it brings up about how we, as a society will face the end of our history and how can we adapt to a world that is non-human dominant?

This is tough. I have only played a handful, but I guess for me it would be The Evil Within. I don't know that it brings up questions about the end of our history, but the mind control element of the game is something we definitely need to watch out for as we progress in society. Even though it isn't a survival horror game, I think Detroit Become Human speaks more to our impending doom because robots became sentient beings through emotion, thoughts, etc. Much like Skynet in the Terminator series. I think we need to be more worried about scenarios like that than apocalyptical scenarios a la The Walking Dead.

 

What's your favorite genre of games?

Sports is my favorite, will always remain my favorite, but I also love open world RPG, and FPS/TPS.

 

If you could travel to any point in time, past or future, when would it be and why?

I'd go 100 years into the future, to see what humanity has become, if we are still treating our planet well, and to see how far along technology has progressed.

 

Who is your favorite video game villain and why?

Dutch Van Der Linde, because I often believe if I could live in another time period, it would be the Wild West. The charm, charisma, and overall leadership qualities of Dutch hits home with me, and the willingness to keep trying to find a way out of their bad situations, even when he knows it's impossible, is admirable. Even though he made some bad choices, we all have, and it makes him real, makes him human.

 

What video character resembles you most (personality-wise)?

I am not sure there is one. And I am not saying that because I am being arrogant, I just feel that I can relate to many characters, and not one particularly stands out. If I had to pick though, it would be Lee from the Walking Dead series. He is gentle, helpful, slow to wrath, and was very smart.

 

What is the best dessert you have ever had? Please describe in detail?

The best dessert I have ever had is whiskey cake. It is exactly as it sounds...cake made with whiskey. It is so soft, and warm. The whiskey almost tastes like cinnamon when blended in the cake. The way the flavors hit your mouth, it is the only cake I will eat that I believe doesn't need icing because of how flavorful it is.

 

What is the sexiest name you can imagine?

Interesting question. I can imagine a lot. But a sexy name? I think Marisol is a sexy name. 

 

If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends/family think you got arrested for?

Drunk and disorderly. They know I'd never drink and drive, but I do enjoy the sustenance of alcohol.

 

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Yes, it is a specialized sandwich, but it s still a sandwich.

 

Do you like waffles?

Of course.

 

Do you like bacon?

Definitely. My gut has come from two things: beer and bacon.

 

Dogs or cats?

Dogs. Cats are revolting.

 

Do you think there are too many dragons on this forum? 

I don't think there are too many. It just seems like a lot because there isn't a Dragonborn to help offset things, and keep the dragon population down.

 

What's your most anticipated game for 2019?

Probably The Division 2. I know there were issues with The Division, but I liked it, and I have heard that they got it right with The Division 2, so I am excited to see how much better it got if it was good before.

 

Is mayonnaise an instrument?

A condiment, yes. An instrument to eat? Yes. But like a musical instrument? No.

 

When do you think PS5 will come?

2020, when they expect it to come.

 

Based off your name, I assume you're a big MMA fan. Who is your favorite fighter and who do you think is the best competitor of all time?

Favorite are the to who comprise my name, Shogun Rua and Mirko Cro Cop. I think the best of all time though is George St. Pierre.

 

What game would be the epitome of something you would never touch?

Metal Gear Solid. I don't like stealth based or stealth only games. I like to go in guns blazing, and I guess while you can, it isn't how the game was intended.

 

Does cake have all the answers?

Not all, but many answers. I do love cake. For me, bacon has all the answers.

 

Of all the games you've played, which one was the most rewarding?

Probably Madden 13, because of the difficulty of the plat, and how long I had to grind it out. I am not a patient person, but I learned patience with that game.

 

Which game that you've played was the most disappointing and didn't live up to the hype?

Assassin's Creed Black Flag. I know it lived up to the hype for most, but not for me. I felt it got old real quick with all of the naval battles. It was like Assassin's Creed just wanted to cater to those who loved the naval battles from AC3. But I was one of the few who never liked them.

I think Crocop would win just based on his size. He has a good 30 lbs on Rua, and he has that devastating leg kick. But I think Rua would hang on for a it and make it interesting. It's the fight I always wanted but never got, partly due to their weight classes being slightly different.
