Which Final Fantasy game would you recommend to a newcomer?

FF7 is by far my favorite. It's also among the least stressful Final Fantasy games trophywise because you can cheat at will, just a couple missables to check beforehand. It's got top notch graphics from 1997 too. :D FF12 is my second favorite of the series gameplay and storywise and it's pretty doable if not for a couple fights that force you to learn the system inside out which is not entirely a bad thing now that I think about it. It has one stressing RNG trophy as well though. Both are from older generations though as the PS3-PS4 era hasn't been that great in my opinion except for FF14 (MMO game with a monthly fee), it's currently in a really good position and most of the playerbase, me included, love it! Got like 2500 hours in by now.

All the FF13 games are awfully long-winded trophywise and many consider the gameplay and story garbage so if you don't like those games that much I wouldn't touch those first. FF10 and its sequel are favorites of many, not me though but they also are about 100-hour projects with grinding and RNG included.

FF15 is an easy platinum but it's just really different in every way and and not much like what Final Fantasy have been. Hope they don't continue that road too much with their new games. I fear they will apply too much of that new garbage stuff for the FF7 remake too. :(

Yooka-Laylee. Holy fudge that game made me want to stab myself in the eyeballs. Took me months of retrying a couple of the cart races and arcade games to get all the pagies. Usually I have a hard time remembering games after I beat them and it's been a while but no; I remember exactly how damn frustrated I was playing this game but I had to get that platinum.

O man Yooka-Laylee...... I didn't find the arcade games difficult but by the power of grayskull the cart was the worst thing to hit gaming.

Spoiler

The boss battle in the Casino almost broke me. Every time I would jump too late and get hit or jump too early and get hit.... When I did beat it I was so done with the game. Then the final boss fight with it's 35 stages and no checkpoints hit...... f that game and f the developer for soiling Banjo's good name....

For me tho, my surprise is Crash Bandicoot 2. I was under the opinion that it being so popular, you would have a lot of people who would finish the story and then not worry about the time trials. I found it the harder of the 3 and it does have the lower % of them at 9.81% but it being that high surprises me.

No Man's Sky is another one. I enjoyed the game after the huge overhall and had only 4 trophies to get but I managed to get the Galapagos trophy when you had to discover the whole planet.... it was a big grind and not very fun.

I guess the games with the high reliance on luck always surprise me. Ni No Kuni - item drops and capturing most familiars, Fallout Shelter - The 20 legendary trophies and Secret of Mana - Obtain All ______ gear. (unpopular opinion - Secret of Mana wasn't as bad as people make out - give it a go even if you are the slightest big curious as to why the game is considered a masterpiece.)

Probably Resogun for me. It wasn't that hard especially once you played it for a while. Probably since it was my first platinum and that I wasn't much of a gamer before the PS4 came out although I'm surprised Dead Nation is ultra rare as I thought that was a pretty easy game in comparison which was my 2nd plat. Both are fantastic games though. But yeah the rest of my non ultra rare plats are pretty straightforward and most of the ultra rare ones too. I tend to have more issues with DLC.

The platinum is no more than a 4 or 5 out of 10. But the DLC is on an entirely different level.

You practically have to get a co-op partner for a number of trophies. Nobody who lives near me is probably good enough to play local co-op with me unless I Share Play, which isn't an option unfortunately because of my internet.

The first Crash Bandicoot is definitely the hardest and has the strictest time trials. In both 2 and 3 there were only a couple levels that gave me trouble.

Stormy Ascent was especially difficult and that took me over 3 hours to get Gold. But without that I would of had to do that dreadful High Road level which is more broken than challenging.

Probably Metal Gear Solid 2 because of the MGS1 Snake sniping VR mission. This took me a couple of hours until I was able to finally complete it. A few of the bosses on Extreme difficulty gave a bit of trouble as well.

I got my sister to do the one co op trophy with me and she isn't a gamer. I think we failed once but got it on the second go so it wasn't too bad. I think there is a way to do it on your own too but it''ll be harder having to manage both ships at the same time. Yeah DLC was tough. Took me and another very competent player countless hours across a couple of sessions to beat commando mode. Was lucky I actually had someone decent join a session as most of the time they're completely useless and I end up going off and doing the co op in a game by myself like bloody IW and WWII zombies. Base game is way easier in comparison but everything is definitely doable. But yeah it's more of the case that my other non ultra rare plats are very easy.

I think it would be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix on PS3, it's the hardest compared to the other non-ultra-rare platinums I have. You need to complete the story for all the three characters in Critical mode (damage recieved is doubled and damage dealt is halved), defeating every optional boss with the three of them and completing the extra episodes (Final episode and Secret episode). You can do this in more than one playthrough but you still have to finish the story with all the three characters in Crit mode.

I will correct this statement since I just platinumed Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled after more than one month of suffering. I have just gone to my profile on here and I have seen it is just Rare (around 10%). Argh.

Well nothing was insanely hard...Bloodborne had dungeons though, that make me leave attempts to plat this game for half a year xD Two bosses 2 be exactly...And Final Fantasy X had fkd up side quests like chocobo races and stuff like grinding a lot...So I choose those 2 games :) I would never even try hard to plat them if I didn't love this games so much !

I'd probably have to go with Dead Cells, which in the EU-version sits at roughly 6%.

From what I hear, though, it is very likely that Hollow Knight (EU ~5.8%) will take the title once I'm done with it. Only have the pantheons left, but they will take a while to complete.

I need to correct my previous post, as Dead Cells has been dethroned as my hardest non-UR platinum! :) The title now goes to:

Hollow Knight (EU)

And like Dead Cells, this one is only non-UR because I played the EU version. Definitely one of the best games on the PS4, it still sits in my mind weeks after getting the plat, and for sure a game I will revisit at some point. For the incredibly low release price-tag of 15$, this game is a must-play for anyone that enjoys metroidvania-type games.

I also have no idea why this one isn't UR... Most of the game is really easy, but the Godmaster content (pantheons) are really tough ?

Honestly for me it was sound shapes because the death mode stuff infuriated more that anything I've ever experienced in gaming, I never would have actually kept chipping away at them if it wasnt for the platinum stack. Second would be rainbow six because meat wall eluded me for months.

There's a few I can think of that I have that aren't ultra-rare which were quite difficult for me, but I'll go with Michael Jackson: The Experience HD on the Vita. There were a few very difficult trophies in there so it's a proud platinum for sure.

A couple of honourable mentions would be Realm Royale due to the Decimation trophy, Motorstorm Apocalyse due to a couple of the multiplayer trophies, and Dirt 4 because of the trophy requiring you to get promoted up to the next tier in the Pro Tour multiplayer mode.
