How can you not be impressed by somebody who has a tough game/platinum if your a trophy hunter, just the measurement of it with the difficulty rating what I was trying to bring up is it's hard to

“Impressed” is a strong word. I have quite a range of Ultra Rare trophies and I’m convinced there isn’t a game out there absolutely anyone here couldn’t 100% if they spent the time to do it.

So really the only thing these Ultra Rare trophies show are our levels of compulsion and/or lack of more productive ways to spend our time.

The only trophies I’m personally impressed by are when people have plats in both Monster Hunter World and Iceborne but at the same time it’s like I’m at a casino where I’ve lost $1,000 and I’m impressed by a guy next to me who just lost $10,000.

If this is a serious question, then here is the answer:

By playing the game for years, you have mastered it - you have become part of a group of people who are playing the game at a very high level - an ‘elite’ class of player.

To then say “it is a 4/10” may be true to how it feels to you now, but ignores the years of time you put in to getting to that point.
You are judging the game’s difficulty from the point of view of an ‘elite’, without factoring in the time it took you to get to that point, and resetting the ‘baseline’ to account for your current level of mastery.

Dude, you bolded the part where I said it took me years to get to that point. Why are you saying it "ignores" it when it was clearly pointed out? Are you not reading my posts...?

I even talked about how the game is going to be much higher for newcomers (yes, that includes me when I was a novice, just to make it absolutely clear).

Now - whether ‘elitist’ should be considered a pejorative as much as it is on this site? That is a different question…

After all - we are all playing games, and trying to master them.
We are all trying to become ‘elite’ at the tasks we engage in.

It is only gauche when we try to set the baseline standard to our own personal experience

It was clearly being used a pejorative. I understand the literal definition of elitism, but you know the context it was being used here.

Funny how you call me a White Knight, when I have seen you sucking off the moderation like three times now, lmao.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out inconsistency. I don't know if they'll mod you any faster because of what you're doing, however.

That was consensual ball-licking; I've been friends with Grimy for over a decade.

I was a mod for Sly before PSNP even existed & I wouldn't want to do it again.

 I know.

My post wasn’t a slam - just an explanation.

Whether the rest of your post is elitist or not (I’d say it’s combative, but not necessarily elitist) - the 4/10 is an elitist viewpoint, in the sense that it is based only on the current experience of someone who is elite already. :dunno:

It’s therefore not worth anything to anyone aside from other ‘elites’ - and so not worth considering in any reasonable amalgam of difficulty rankings.

I agree with that.

Yeah, having to deal with little shits like you was a huge ball ache. Now I don't have to show any restraint or take the high road.

Sounds self-inflicted.

Speaking of Vanquish, is the ps4 version easier to plat than the ps3? Heard something like it has a consistent 60fps or something, I always felt guilty that I didn’t plat a game with my favorite VA.

Technically, it's a little harder, since it the FPS glitch wasn't truly fixed. You take slightly more damage on 60fps.

There was also a glitch you could use to get infinite EMP grenades on the ps4 version if memory serves. All that means is, for a time you could pretty much cheese TC6 since EMP grenades are the strongest things in the game. @CelestialRequiem is that correct or am I misremembering?

Yeah, that glitch is still possible on the PS3 version; but not on PS4. Forgot about that as well.

I know plat is plat but sometimes, after earning platinum, I ask myself: "How do people with stacked, easy plats, have the courage not to be ashamed of having an easy plats".

But then, Slyde-like games are tapping by shoulder and ask: "Hey mf, y do u act like u forgot about mey, dre?"

No way in hell would I ever be able to complete that monster of a game. Shit, I fall walking up stairs; rhythm games are impossible.

I pretty much said I will never finish that game either. I’m in my 30s now and I’ve already noticed I’m not as quick in the reflexes as I used to be.

I’ve watched gameplay footage of this game, and I politely said “no thanks”. I’ll let the gaming gods finish this one.

If I can add something, (I am responding to you but my speech will be more "generic")

collecting trophies, especially if we talk about ultra rare ones, where in some cases you need to spend hundreds of hours just to achieve a digital icon, is useless. Like every other hobbies, every other passions, you will never gain a physical reward for them, still, you need something like that in your life, something you can "waste" your time on (which can be anything, from fishing to parachuting), because even if you do not get a physical reward from them, the happy memories and the satisfaction that you gain are more than enough to justify your time on them!

If we should be always efficient, we would be no different from machines.

I specific that this is not an attack direct on you, I just wanted to point out something that seemed interesting for me

I understand that rarity isn't that big of a deal, but nothing at all impresses you bar Monster Hunter?

Not even games like Crypt of the Necrodancer, Dead or Alive 5 and some of the Guitar Hero titles which are challenging games across different genres.

I mean I see some profiles on here who have like 10+ tough fighting game platinums, and think that is very impressive. Getting to a standard like that, can really take alot of effort and skill.

But yeah, with enough time you'll be likely to get 100% on something difficult. However, how long will that take? Some guy might sit down with KOF 13 and crack it out in a few weeks and just naturally take to it or have prior experience, whilst it might take another guy 9 months or longer.

As much as Ultra Rare trophies show a lack of production with the time we have, isn't that the same for all trophies regardless of how rare they are. Gaming is a waste of time, but we choose to waste our free time doing what we enjoy going after virtual trophies ?

Unless you have or had another account that's a very questionable view to have without having some of the most notoriously hard games completed on your account to back up that viewpoint

I think if you forced everyone on this site to platinum something like super meat boy before they were allowed to play anything else there would be a big chunk of people that would never get to play another game in their lives

Not at all, I play what I want and I'm not worried about how my game choices look to others. Unless they start buying my games, their opinion means little to me. For me most UR games just probably won't be a thing since I get bored with games pretty quickly unless they really grab my attention and the amount of games I have means it's far too easy for me to drop one game and just pick up another. My list is over 700 but I actually have around 2000 games on the playstation platform, I just haven't played them yet.
