ajkungfu
Pretty simple, I wanna hear about platinum trophies that broke you. Whether it be from insane difficulty, grind or whatever reasons you have.
Helyx
I'm pretty lucky that I've never really come across a trophy that "broke me".
AJ_Radio
None. Most would pick Super Meat Boy because of it's difficulty, but I recently earned Girl Boy so it's only a matter of time before I get Impossible Boy.
Popular Post Shadiochao
I did get the platinum, but Red Dead Redemption 2 made me start questioning why I even get trophies, because it was so mind-numbingly boring throughout the whole time I was playing I certainly don't just jump into games mostly blind anymore like I used to. That game was by far the lowest point of my trophy hunting, which I guess is the closest a game has come to breaking me
Popular Post Upendo_Vitani
Yooka-Laylee. I've mentioned this before in a similar thread but it's worth repeating. Good god getting all the collectibles was a pain. The mini games were annoying and I think they were my main issue. It's been a while since I played so I can't remember details of why I hated it so much as my brain is helpfully blocking the worst bits but everytime I see the game it's like I have PTSD and can't let it go without telling everyone in the room how much trouble I had with it.
lurch_9944
Orcs must die unchained. 1 trophy single handily killed it for me. Empty pockets "spend 200,000,000 gold did just about everything else in that game and was only around 5% done with it. Grinded it up to about 14% before just throwing in the towel.

damon8r351
Let's see, it was the plat for Alone With You, some cheap game on the Vita. After I finished that I got word Skyrim was releasing soon on the PS4. I knew as soon as I got into that I'd get fuck all accomplished, so I decided You know what, I'll play the Witcher to kill time till October 2016. Played that for awhile, then switched to Skyrim on release day and played that non stop all the way through to the following January. Then I went on deployment to Qatar and took only my Vita with me. Played through Day of the Tentacle and half assed my way through part of Ar no Surge Plus. When I got home in April 2017, I couldn't remember what I was in the middle of doing in Skyrim, so I switched to No Man's Sky to experience the new content even though I'd platted the game already. Elite Dangerous released the following July of 2017 and I said to myself Yeah, I'll sink...psshh 17 weeks worth of gameplay time into this game no problem. Around August 2018 I decided to get back into The Witcher and also started playing around with mods in Skyrim, which as you know completely block you from earning trophies. Then this last January my wife got me into Final Fantasy XIV and I said you know what, I don't give a rats ass about this trophy shit right now and haven't really since the middle of 2016, then I realized Final Fantasy is awesome again and as soon as I get tired of Final Fantasy XIV I'm going to play through every single Final Fantasy game because Yes We Can. So to answer your question, the plat that broke me was Alone With You because [insert fart noise].

SouIXReaper
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The boss fight for Momiji's chapter almost made me give up entirely. I always hated her combat style and movements, so I cringed when I saw her return in Razor's Edge. Edited April 5, 2019 by SouIXReaper

StanPortrBridges
Amplitude. I like rhythm games, but this has NO practice mode and NO no-fail mode. There's no way for me to get better at certain parts of certain songs other than restarting a million times until I eventually get it. Its the songs that have the ABCBABCBABCBABC type of notes, my brain just cant wrap around how to do those. I tried the mental thing of seperating it into A -BC - A - BC -A - BC but it just doesnt work. I tried the bootleg way of having no fail mode on with multiplayer, but the camera is way zoomed out and not representative of actual gameplay. Ive been trying on and off now for months, its just like 3 songs I cant even BEAT consistently...
Popular Post Gisquared09
Red Dead 2 broke me, probably took 400 hours to get that platinum. Towards the end of my journey I began questioning my life and hobby of trophy collecting. I turned down social outings to stay inside and wander around in a virtual world for hours on end to find a god damn songbird I had to study and for what? A virtual trophy that means nothing? That game made me think, as I had plenty of time to playing that game. I loved the game and story but I quickly realized it would be my longest platinum yet. In the end it’s nice to look back and see it’s my rarest trophy and my 50th platinum but I lost a part of myself during the process.
Copanele
No platinum truly broke me ,but close to breaking was DMC5. Those S ranks...those stupid S ranks on Dante Must Die. Swear to god the score results for some missions is buggy as hell. But if there is a Platinum that will beat that it will be Fist of the North Star : Lost Paradise. Still working on it, that stupid Doctor Ken trophy is murdering my soul. Why are Japanese developers so in love with rhythm games I simply can't understand.
thefourfoldroot
Diablo 3. The post game grind was unbelievable. I gave up rather than waste my life. Fallout 4. Final trophy is to max happiness at a settlement, I'm constantly 1% behind despite resorting to following a guide to the letter. I'm convinced it's bugged on me. Yakuza. I just can't get the mahjong trophies. Edited April 5, 2019 by thefourfoldroot
Popular Post Cal
Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain...never again I will never get the platinum trophy for this game ever again. Getting all S ranks on the missions and the having to bloody replay them on a harder difficulty setting just to get another bloody S rank, developing 300 items that cost so much resources and had to take in game time to make, completing all mission tasks multiple times on normal and harder missions, fully upgrading mother base, raising all staff teams to level 50 and then extracting all wild animals that some are complete random so you may or may not get the specific animal you wanted and in order to find out what animals you got you have to go back into the helicopter to just see which ones you captured. I definitely do not recommend getting the platinum trophy for this game way to time consuming and repetitive it's not worth it.
YesImAPwnda
Injustice 2 Level Grind. I finished every other Trophy, but the Level Up Grind to get Level 20 on every Champion is a bit to long. It was way better on the release months but now it takes longer. Maybe I will grind the last levels for the champs when I'm bored but I didn't planned to do this for the next time. And also the Grind for the Clan Fight Minigame at Yakuza 6. Oh and I stopped playing Stardew Valley on PS4 after I saw the Mini Game Trophy. Popular Post Rui_One_544
For me, it was a Platinum that I didn't get that "broke" me. Game in question is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for the PS3. So here's the story, kind of hilarious and sad altogether now that I think back on it (though at the time it was only sad): So there I was trophy hunting yet another game as usual, and having some good time with Lego Harry Potter ( had always been a fan of both Lego and HP ). When I was almost done with it and the only thing left for the 100% was to colect some sort of special brick or whatever and to buy the last characters, something happens in the game that makes me plug in my second controller. (for those who don't know, lego games are always played with 2 characters, one being yours and the other one controlled by either AI or co-op with a second controller). For some reason, the AI goes full retard in some level and gets stuck, making it impossible to move forward. Then, I just said "f*ck it lmao I'll just plug the another controller and be done with this, what's the worse that could happen". Then I easily got the retard character unstuck and proceeded. Thing is that , instead of unplugging the controller I just plugged in, I just continued playing with it and unplugged the first controller. Then I proceeded to finish whatever I had left to do with the second controller, including buying the characters. Turns out this game is massively trophy-glitched when it comes to being played co-op, and some trophies are locked out when the requirements for them are met with a second controller. Furthermore, it automatically saves whenever you get something new (such as unlocking new characters, for example). So, after going character shopping with the second controller: Expected Final Result: I would get the trophies for unlocking all variations of Voldemort and 100% completion, with only 1 trophy left for the Plat that involved doing some killing with the newly unlocked Voldemort. Actual Final Result: Me waiting almost 5 minutes for those trophies to pop, only to realize that something was wrong and I had wasted almost 30 hours of my life on a plat I probably wouldn't get, and an incredible wave of desperation and sadness growing inside. There wasn't even a chance to reload a save or anything to try and get it again, because it automatically saved when I bought the last character. The trophy for 100% Completion would eventually unlock after some running around, but never the "Buy All Variations of Voldemort" one. I hoped that it would unlock when I did the last trophy that involved using Avada Kedavra with Voldemort, but it didn't. So in the end, I had 98% of the trophies, with only that little glitched bronze f*uck left to unlock. The only chance to unlock it again would be to complete the game all over again and waste another 30 hours, because Voldemort only becomes available to buy when pretty much everything else is unlocked/completed. From that day, I promise I would never touch a Lego game again. Never again.
Legchomper
The survival trophy on Dead or Alive 5 on the xbox drove me insane and I couldn't obtain it, it was the only one I needed for completion, but on the PS3 someone recommended that I tried survival first before unlocking certain characters like Gen Fu and Akira and I believe I got the hardest survival on the second try, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge trials were a little annoying but I'd do that game all over again if I could, it was really fun except for the clan battles eesh.
Popular Post Gommes_
I managed to get some hard platinums but the one that nearly broke me was Dead Space 2. According to the rarity it's not that hard and not my most "valuable" platinum but it sure feels like it. The hardcore mode was a huge pain for me. Failing before you reach a save made you feel so empty. Especially when you tried it countless times before and die in a spot which was never a problem before. Suddenly the game kicks your ass in almost every situation or at least you are afraid it will. This constant "fear" was awful at times! Not being able to skip the intro scene didn't make it any better. Dead Space 2 is a fantastic game but the platinum is on another level. I guess if "breaking" means that I gave up on a platinum I would say Street Fighter 4 but I never really tried to be successful there, so there are no feelings connected.
Aecesaje_
Not a platinum but the trophy "Requiem for a Killer" from Batman: Arkham Knight nearly broke me. You need atleast a combo of 400 to be able to fight Killer Croc on the Icebergue Lounge but the type of enemies that spawn (shield, stun batons and ninjas) make this challenge nearly impossible. I was able to get it after a week of training but I don't think I can do it again
Popular Post zeero7uk
None. If I can't platinum a game, or I can't be bothered to go for it I just move on to something else. Games are meant to help escape anger and depression, not cause it.
