Let’s talk about the online community

Is it just me, or does it seem like a fair number of people online are toxic? There’s a few types I’ve encountered:

1. The guy who doesn’t play the objective

This is a large number of what I encounter. If the escape opens up, there seems to be at least one of these types who just stand outside of the zone shooting at zombies while we’re obviously getting overrun. It’s time to go, guy. Get in the zone so we can get out of here.

There’s also those who don’t help defend certain objectives. Specifically, I’ve had problems with randoms on New York 2 not defending the train from zombies. They all seem to be shooting at zombies coming from any other direction. I’ve had the mission fail multiple times because nobody shoots at the zombies that are attacking the train, when there’s clearly a timer that says “hey if they don’t get off this train in 10 seconds the entire mission fails.” We can worry about the zombies coming at us later, friend. There’s a 100% guarantee we fail if you don’t shoot them off the train right now.

And there’s the people that don’t gather things for the objective. In New York 1, you have to collect a certain number of cases before you can escape. I’ve seen many teammates just standing around on the train or just shooting zombies and not going for any cases. Often, I’m the one gathering the majority of cases/ car parts/ whatever else.

2. The teamkiller

By this, I don’t mean the guy who accidentally shot you when you were between him and the zombies. I saw one of my teammates purposely slaughter a teammate and proceed to teabag his corpse for no discernible reason. I haven’t run into this type too much, but I’ve heard from others that there are a few of these people out there.

3. The Lone Ranger

This person likes to go explore. Why? Because they’re adventurous at heart? Because they like getting swarmed / pinned by random lurkers and downed? It’s a problem in these types of games because the game works best when everybody sticks together. Going out alone gets you killed, or best case scenario, forces one or two people to double back and try to save you (further splitting up the team). If you want to explore, play on easy offline. I’ve had my entire team wiped because one guy decided to hang out on the other side of the map and he got pinned by a lurker.

I have no problem with someone who is trying to clear objectives / play as a team and just isn’t skilled enough. My problem has largely been people not playing objectives, which gets us all killed because we wait around much longer and either fails the mission or we get killed in the process.

I really think we need a vote kick option. There are some toxic teammates out there and the fact that this game didn’t have it at launch is disappointing. I’m really enjoying the game after about 15 hours though, it really is a great value for $40. My main problem has just been with trying to complete missions on higher difficulties and having 1 or 2 of these toxic teammates.

Am I the only one who feels this way? I’ve noticed that this community in particular feels like it suffers from these problems more than any other co-op game I’ve played. In Payday 2, I used to play religiously, and it’s a somewhat similar co-op experience but I never encountered too many toxic players.

Some of it my be down to kids, those that look like they dont have a clue what they are doing, sounds like some of ur complaints.

I remember my Son, 3 at the time I think. He was playing on Minecraft while I was doing stuff, then later he went on awesomenauts.

I didnt realise he had gone online until I had a few msgs of randoms insulting me saying im shit blablabla, usual cursing.

I was just like, ur complaining abt a 3 yr old lol, of course he doesnt have a clue. I had to laugh.

Thats the thing with randoms, u never know what ur going to get, but we have to let others have their fun, thats what games are for.

Of course, everyone has different measures of fun, but if u want to control stuff, thats what private matches are for aren't they?

Does this actually have private lobbies?

My biggest problem right now is the amount of accounts level <30 playing hard missions, have even seen a group of level <10 playing. What is up with that? Who told these peeps to play on hard when they are new? It clearly says recommended for class level 15+... Not even worth playing with these as you will obviously fail if you can't carry... This is something new since patch 1.03, previously I was always matched with >30 players

Then there are always those random newbies who don't understand that you don't need to clear zombies if a door/gate will close on them if you assemble at the objective. Doing this they will certainly:

1. Lose health / die

2. Lose equipment

3. Waste time

4. Cause other teammates to waste health or equipment because of swarms and no progression

You just stand there waiting for these people... Worst map has to be Moscow 2 when you just need to rush to the end to beat the map, almost everytime somebody wanders off to collect or fight off the Zs. Or the Tokyo 2, I don't even help them clear when the boat is ready.

Then we have those who unlock gates on Moscow 2 and don't know that this enables Zs to open them, creating another 2 openings for them plus don't even watch them. Or don't close the unlocked gates.

People who don't escort the bus on Tokyo1 and just rush through the tunnel... I rarely play Jerusalem2 on hard as that map is impossible for most people.

I swear most maps are probably easy but the skill of the majority of players is just too damn low.

But nah, have never met a toxic player who was doing something intentionally bad. Most have been normal people with different experiences, usually I'm the only one talking on the mic so I give commands and most people listen and follow through them.

that's probably me, although there is a reason for such things ?

I'd recommend going with a friend and if there is someone annoying just vote kick him.

I usually do this when playing on Easy/Normal with a friend to level up our weapons so if this has happened to you on insane that guy is just an idiot honestly, again I don't recommend playing this alone you can find people here and play together it's way better than going alone imo.

What's the worst for me is when you see high ranked players what spend more than enough time to know that you can skip a lot of parts are just searching like a retard for I don't know what.

The grind is massive and I hate to play 30 minutes for 1 simple map what can be skipped for 75 %.

And on hard the most people can't even finish the game resulting in a fail.

Playing solo the quickest map over and over and over again is really boring.

Somehow Hard has been infected with low levelled unskilled players recently... But it is manageable to carry

After conquering insane difficulty the game is kinda boring now. All other difficulties are way too easy. But it comes down to who you play with. Mostly on insane everyone is playing correctly if they're level 30...if below then they're probably going for xp or they're just trash. It definitely needs a level lockout system for difficulty levels.

This is almost verbatim of the comments about Helldivers, LOL.

I need to get back to that game at some point, but it's more difficult to play on my Vita than I prefer. I'll need to pick it up on my PSTV or PS4.

I'll be sure to avoid World War Z if it's just a repeat of what I've already gone through. Thanks for the heads up!
