Square Enix has also announced a partnership with PlayStation on Marvel’s Avengers, which it will share more information about—including “surprises for PlayStation players”—in the future.

Here is an overview of the game, via Square Enix:

About

Marvel’s Avengers invites players to live their Super Hero dreams. Outstanding storytelling and an ever-expanding universe come together in the definitive Avengers gaming experience. Master extraordinary abilities, customize a growing roster of Heroes, assemble into teams of up to four players, and defend the Earth from escalating threats.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco—including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel’s Avengers features a cinematic story, complete with the high-octane action that Crystal Dynamics is known for. Featuring regular content updates, the game will take players on an epic journey delivered over multiple years. This is what’s next for the Avengers.

  • Play An Original Avengers Story  Marvel’s Avengers is a unique take on these iconic Super Heroes, including Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor. This character-driven story celebrates authentic Marvel heroism and humanity in a cinematic campaign filled with single-player and co-op missions.
  • Embrace Your Powers – Unlock powerful skills and new gear to build your ideal version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. When combined with original, fan-favorite, and classic outfits, there are nearly limitless ways to customize these iconic Heroes.
  • Assemble Online – Up to four players can assemble online to defend the Earth from escalating threats. The narrative will be delivered over multiple years, with no random loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios. Every new Super Hero and region will be delivered to players at no additional cost if you own the core game.

Hoping this game doesn't get shutdown, delisted, or something else like previous Marvel games after a year of release. ?

I am not really that hyped for this game, maybe because everything looked akward with the characters and I'm confused with what was going on.

I'm more hyped for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, game looks really fun even though it's only on the Switch.

I feel like the only person who has zero issues with the character models. Were people really expecting some MCU game so bad, that this ended up disappointing them this much? Everywhere I turn people are hating on this game...and I just don't understand why. There was no reason or indication ever given over the last couple years that said this was an MCU game, so no one should have any reason to have believed it was.

I'm getting serious deja vu from Mass Effect: Andromeda....people moaning about graphics again so much that it's causing an uproar in the industry right now. And it's hard to be excited for this, when there's so much unwarranted negativity surrounding it. And I feel like it's going to flop already, because of this. Like the big flop of 2020.

I thought the trailer was fantastic, I think the graphics looks perfectly fine and there's nothing wrong with the character models. I just don't get it. ?

It looks ok but didn't set my world on fire. I was surprised that Nolan North is Iron Man and Troy Baker is Hulk which was the about the only bit of excitement the reveal gave me.

So I'll keep an eye on it because it has time to improve and be great but not rushing out to pre-order.

Indeed a close eye will be maintained. I was hoping the Arkham series raised the bar for devs on how to make a super hero game, then along came a Marvels Spider-Man and did an even better job. This though sounds very fishy at the moment.

Exactly, seems like Square has taken a huge backwards step. Wouldn't be surprised if they're using these voice actors to get people in and cover up the flaws of the game.
