Popular Post TheYuriG
The question in the title is rethorical. Doubt any of you reading this actually foresee the future or work at EA to do anything about it. This is also a venting thread, expect no reasonable discussion here, only hate. We haven't got a single Boss Rush event since January. I started this game the day after my birthday because I simply adored stacking Garden Warfare 1, despite the stupid specific plants grind and the ZPG trophy. This game is a lot of fun, played it casually for several hours after i had the trophies I could get. I absolutely love this game... ...But I hate its trophies. Cat vs Dyno takes FOREVER to enter rotation (happens once about every 6 months), you need to play for AT LEAST 3 recurring weeks to unlock the secret chars (because timegating the keys for the trials) and then on top of that, you need to push through this event called Boss Rush that haven't been avaiable since mid January. This means that every new player in these months had 0% chance of getting the 100%. This is kinda like the Iron Relics in Destiny 1's DLC, but on steroids. It requires far more effort and can possibly take far longer to even try to do. June's calendar just came live today (or yesterday, but I'm pretty sure it was today) with a big (10+GB patch) and Boss Rush isn't planned for this month. Might also not be planned for the next. Might never actually be playable again. Why is this even an event you need to wait to enter in rotation? Just put matchmaking for it, PVE in this game is fun. I enjoyed doing the Infinity Mode, enjoyed both Garden and Graveyard defenses, I'm sure I would enjoy playing Boss Rush too. Most likely would be completely destroyed in the first few attempts, but there is the fun in it. Being trash at it and continue to play until you eventually just breeze through the content because of how good you became. Wasn't Sony against time-gated events and for that reason games like Overwatch couldn't get trophies attached to those events? Why PVZ GW2 can have one of those? Pretty annoyed about having to download the game every month, seeing the calendar and being disappointed. Stop making me keep the game on my HDD (or redownload it). You are not Sound Shapes. You are not Rocket League. You are not Killing Floor 2. Stop trying to be. If you are also frustrated with this situation, please do post below. This thread is most likely getting locked whenever the event is back in rotation and the thread itself is no longer relevant. For the rest of you not affected by this (because you either don't care about 100%ing this game or didn't even actually play it), godspeed and keep dodging bad trophies. Tip by @Bumperklever: Quote Happy to say that we just did crazy difficulty with 2 Scientists and 2 all-stars against spooky squatch. Here are some general tips: - Callouts are key for fast reactions on the always changing situation. With this I don't say all 4 players need to have a mic. I do say that atleast 1 caller in a team helps the efficiency by a bunch. As for callouts, these are especially helpful in numerous situations. Normally (if you know the flow) just call the 'area': For example, what we used was: Stage, middle (anchor + the sides), backarea (opposite site of the stage), aquarium (bottom area of mid), Graveyard and Nuke (opposite site of graveyard). If the caller sees then everybody knows, it's efficient.. - Before initiating a step, go slow, heal yourself and evaluate the situation. Mostly in regards to the position of the boss. If he is in the anchor area, when you need to be there. Wait a sec before the actual setting up and initiating. Phase wise: Defend the candy: people tend to place a healbot in the back and the 2 attack bots on the sides. All-stars tend to create barricades before the entry ways to slow down the plants. But tbh I never had any problem with this phase. Anchor and Guardian: Place a healbot next to the anchors and an attack bot. As all-stars place barricades in the 2 stair entry ways. We noticed that the best way to tackle this is instead of going to the guardian, let the guardian come to us.. [this technique probably wouldn't work that well with a toxic brainz]. What we did is activate the anchors and see the spawn position of the guardian. If it is to far, we left the anchor and retry it on the hope it spawns around the anchor area. This way the all-stars can stick around the anchors, the scientists could heal and do some damage as well and the anchors almost never falls. this was really ideal. Spooky bucket: Here is were callouts really shine. We fully healed and make our way to the bucket. After killing enemies that were close an all-star picked up the bucket. Callers would immediately say were the next guy is and people followed in train while healing each other. In the end before the last candy the caller should already communicate the location of the boss so people can already race to him without looking. The only real tip is to always focus on the enemy with the candy. Sugar rush: rush towards boss and shoot him from a safe distance... If you can place a bots, then do it. After sugar rush, heal up. haunted trees: When these show up, go to the graveyard area and kill them before proceeding, you should have enough time for it. Beware that the boss doesn't come to you. There are a lot of small tips/things as well, but in regards to the phases this is the best I can give you. Also hope that the RNG gods doesn't let squatch in the anchor area all the time. Good luck with hunting. I hope this helped. Edited November 22, 2019 by TheYuriG
PSXtreme_
I have to believe that Sony has been quietly insisting that games have Online Trophies to push their Online presence just the same way they pushed to have every game have some "vibration" effect or tilt-control effect when those options were first made available. I have just too many PS3 games with only 1 or 2 trophies that are nothing but "Share a Photo" Etc. that can't be completed because the servers go down a couple of months after the game is released. While there is no hope of stopping this in the PS4 generation, we can only hope that Sony does away with these hint, hint, wink, nudge suggestions for the next generation. The industry is doing too much to itself being self-destructive in the pursuit of the short profit and if it doesn't stop, it will kill itself in the long run.... Popular Post Cassylvania
Yup. GW2 is the game that made me swear off multiplayer games. Platinumed it two years ago and haven't touched an MP game since. That's not to say it's a bad game. I had a ton of fun playing GW1 and GW2. What gets me is the disrespect these kinds of games have for a player's time. When I go to play a game, I want to play it now. I don't want to download a patch or connect to a server or wait for enough players to join the game, and I certainly don't want to wait weeks or months to access some content that should be available now. If time is money, then this is just as bad as paywalls. Can you imagine, back in the 90's, if you went to play Super Mario Bros. 3, but a pop-up appeared on your screen and said, "Sorry, you can only access this world between April 25 and 27." Nobody would put up with that garbage. You paid to have everything available to you right away, and it was only skill that prevented you from accessing all that content. The fact that gaming has moved away from that is a sin. If you're going to have limited-time events, they shouldn't interfere with the base game. (I would argue, in this case, that trophies are part of the base game, since they're installed when you buy them.) Pokemon is a good example of this. While they have community events that hand out ultra rare Pokemon, and in-game events that revolve around the real world clock, they don't get in the way of enjoying the game. In fact, I would argue they make the game more fun, because they enhance the world without being intrusive. Having a day/night cycle in Pokemon Crystal, for example, makes sense, because it can be nighttime in your world when it's also nighttime in the game. That's a neat concept that can even be cheated (if you can't find the time to play at night) by changing the clock on your DS. In GW2, there's no logical reason for an event to only take place once a month or every few months, other than the developers want to keep their player base alive for as long as possible. Unfortunately, as long as people continue to support this business practice, it's not going away. Edited June 1, 2019 by Cassylvania
TazDevilz1986
It's super annoying that these events are not spawning while on the calender they said the Boss Hunts where there on June. Hopefully, soon enough they will be there. Edited June 1, 2019 by TazDevilz1986
Conker
This is just a dumb way to have these events, whoever thought of this is darn stupid, they seriously should be available to play all the time not just when it "randomly" is time for it to be up

monkeydluffy512
I just started this game last night. I enjoyed the first one and saw this for $2 so I figured I'd give it a try. I knew it would be a grind to get all the trophies, but events that are gated by time periods just seems like a new form of evil I wish I never knew existed. ? Well I'll probably settle for getting as many trophies as I can while having as much fun as possible. Thanks for venting a little @TheYuriG sometimes a good rant can be very informative for those who don't know.
RJP_X
yeah, i just gave up and deleted it after platinum and i don't usually do that, the majority of the time i stick it out with platinum's and DLC i have access to. but this was one game i didn't have fun with its trophy list compared to the first game, especially waiting for the 10 quest related trophy, when i went through it there were a number of days i expected those quests to be given and they weren't. absolute BS, never mind keeping track of a calendar for months on in for the DLC trophies to wait for specific dates that are nowhere near. hate those kinds of trophies, sort of like the rayman legends one where you have to play everyday for months or whatever it was, fighting for silvers and golds since diamonds are near impossible to get the more the games population disperses. i was glad to have that over lol. rocam315
I'm also waiting for the boss rush event to get the final 3 trophies (100%). This event was common years ago, but I think it may be unpopular and, as so, they schedule it only on certain months of the year (halloween for example).
TurtlePM
What worries me the most is that this might not come live any time soon. I started the game a few months ago and it was scheduled a Boss event this April. Two weeks before the event, the schedule simply changed into a Mix challenge. So, honestly, it doesn’t matter if it’s scheduled or not, they can change it whenever they want I gave up to 100% because of that. I’ll just grab the gnomes and complete some Community Events for those 2 final trophies and that’s it.

That's actually true, I remember getting all happy about that and then they just changed it a few days in. I was annoyed, but didn't expect it to be put on hold for so long after. I did a very fast time for the plat because of how much I enjoyed playing it. Just sad that I'm blocked off the 100% for God knows how long. All I can do now is wait. skateak
Never knew about this. Almost bought the game multiple times and now I am happy I didn't. SliK6SiK
Almost bought the game at $2 but thanks to this thread, not going to support such negative practices of artificial game lengthening through server based event decisions in the hands of no other than EA. Intresseklubben
I really enjoyed getting the 100% in GW1, it almost felt effortless because it was so fun. Got to GW2 after the DLC came and jumped in to the Boss Hunt when it came in to the rotation. We got our ass kicked time and time again. Not only is it date restricted but it is also incredibly hard (at least for me and two buddies, all fairly experienced). Never getting this 100% unless they gift us with a really easy one. Maybe we just suck but it would be nice to get the chance to practice it. A couple of days is not enough time evidently ?
rdhight
I have 100% already, but I absolutely agree. Any one of these things would be a small offense. But... time-gating the trial keys, rotating out Cats vs Dinos, rotating out Boss Hunt, and the fact that CRAAAAZY Boss Hunts are actually pretty hard? Plus you can only do epic quests as fast as the game hands them out; you can only do community challenges as fast as the game hands them out; you can only enter infinity time by spending stars. There are like 5 trophies stuck behind this by-appointment-only BS!
TheYuriG
Another month's calendar and once again, Boss Rush isn't in rotation. We are getting: pirates vs cacti event from July 2nd to 8th Supermix speedrun mode from July 9th to 15th Taco Tales on July 16th, but without an ending date. What the fuck is even this Another month without 100% on this again, it seems. Edited June 28, 2019 by TheYuriG
Mythologuy
Can someone explain (to someone who wants to start this game) which trophy/s is/are affected by them not giving this mode? and is it only one trophy that is unobtainable?
TheYuriG
3 trophies from the DLC are locked behind this mode, Normal completion, Hard completion, Crazy completion. Cats vs Dynos also gets affected by rotations like this one and that only happens once each 6 months. Next one should happen by september. Community events are also timegates, but I think those happen quite often, once per month usually. There is one ongoing for the next 2 days and half, requiring 200 MP kills, so you would need just 2 more of those. There is another trophy which is timegated, but not tied to any particular event in rotation, but needs one event, any event, once a week, which is unlocking the 2 additional characters. Mythologuy
So if I wanted this 100% it would take a MINIMUM of 3 months and that's IF I get lucky with the rotation of cats vs dogs, as well as Boss Rush

samuel_hsc
This rotation system is a bummer. Luckly I did this way back, when there was a Boss Hunt every month. It was hard and I still had to wait a year for the Gnome Boss to show up (the easiest for me). This is certainly one of the worst trophy lists ever. BlackDevil
The website got updated..we’ll be having: 3 community challenges back-to-back from JUL 16 to AUG 05. Which is good for people who still needs Team Player or Together We Win trophies. 5 Mystery Portal events back-to-back from JUL 02 to AUG 05. Hopefully we’ll get a Boss Hunt and CatsVs.Dinos events or atleast one of them. This is probably the best month to start PvZ GW2 if anyone still planning to do so.
