Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, getting a remaster on PS4!

Recommended Posts

It's just a remaster right?  OP seems to jump between 'remaster' and 'remake' pretty loosely.

If everything is the same and it just looks nicer, I think I'm happy to keep my PS3 copy (for whenever I get around to it).  If they spruced up the combat and stuff, which if I recall is one place the game felt like it was lacking in the bit I played, then I may have to look into this more.

Okay, so I might have played a bit loose with the terms. I am sure people will educate me about the difference between remaster and remake. I apologize in advance.

And they absolutely should NOT "nerf" the trophies in the remaster. They're perfectly fine as they are. I swear all the quick and easy plats these days have made trophy hunters soft.

I mean, I would be fine if I have to farm for Scrolls of Truth with rare golden glims again, as long as the battles are a bit faster and the golden glims come easier. Having to use a special golden glim move to steal rare items really sucks. Yeah, they might drop but the chance of that are so rare. I am not saying completely remove the trophy, just maybe reduce the amount of super-rare items for that one quest to three maybe?

No need to apologize... just interested in clarification since I'm personally less interested in a remaster than I am a remake.

(Not sure if you're legit asking what the difference is or not, but IMO... remaster is the exact same game with improved resolution/asset quality and possibly minor content additions/adjustments, remake is an entirely new game built from the ground up either closely resembling the original or different but in the spirit of the original.)

Farming is just par for the course in JRPG's. Besides, the amount you need to do in this game really isn't that much compared to many other games in the genre. It's actually pretty damn reasonable. I know you're used to EZPZ plats you can earn in an hour or less, CJ, but longer platinums are fine too. :P

Does it even need a remaster? Can it possibly look any better? Some of these remaster choices confuse me lol.

Remasters aren't just about improving visuals, it's also about bringing the game to a new audience. There are many PS4 gamers who never even owned a PS3.

Remaster, by definition of the word, means improving it. How can you improve on something so perfect? There's only been two or three remasters that I've looked at and thought "why?". This definitely joins that list lol.

Besides, it's already on ps4 through Now.

The way 99% of remasters work: By improving the resolution and possibly the frame rate too. I agree that the game already looked stunning on PS3 and a resolution bump isn't going to make much of a difference, but it's still an improvement nevertheless.

PS Now relies on a fast, stable internet connection which not everyone has access too. Besides, it's hardly a good replacement for playing the game natively on the console when you have issues like input lag, the cost of a subscription fee, etc.

This is all very true, except for the input lag part, with good enough internet the input lag isn't noticeable.

But even with all that being true, I still think this is a pointless remaster. Am I gonna buy it? Hell yeah... But I still think it's pointless lol.

I was going to just lurk on the forums but this news is amazing. Anyone who has played Ni no Kuni on PS3... rejoice, as it's getting a remake on the PS4! Any hopes and dreams? I hope that some of the more BS trophies get nerfed to make the game user-friendly. I loved the game but some of those trophies were... too much. :(

This!!

I agree with you 100%

after I platinum NNK1 on the ps3 I lost interest on getting the platinum trophy for my brother right away, those Casino and the stupid genie that make stuff for you have made me hate the whole trophy list for NNK1, i'm just glad that there's no fishing mini game too or they'll gonna ask you to get all the fish's or tell you to spend like 200 hours on fishing alone or something.

NNK2 is fun, it's not as good as the first game but I swear the platinum is a lot more enjoyable to get in comparison to NNK1's platinum.

I absolutely loved the first game on PS3. But I don't think I'd get this. The endgame grind to getting some of those golden familiars is something I don't think I want to put up with again.

Besides I still have a copy of Ni no Kuni II sitting on my shelf waiting to be played.

Although I say this, and it'll go on sale for like $8 one day and I'll get it anyways.

Look, I know I like games which are not frustrating in the trophy list, but I am not trying to bash people who love frustration marathons. To each their own.

Glad you agree with me. The game would have been a lot more fun for completionists if they just reduced the amount of items you needed for Familiarologist and Mad Scientist by maybe 20%. I'm not saying cut them completely or cutting it in half, just a little bit. When Square-Enix released the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix trophy list for PS3, you had to collect all of the blueprints, but they reduced it to only needing 30 blueprints for the PS4 version of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. I was able to get that trophy in the PS4 version. The Casino, sadly, will probably remain - especially since they'll probably patch the duplication glitch that made the PS3 version easy to platinum. No getting Guildering the Lily before post-game! xD But I'll take that sacrifice, it's not too hard to get 500,000 guilders in post-game, especially since you'll have to farm golden enemies anyways.

I figure theyre doing this to promote the upcoming film later this year since ni no kuni 3 is still years away from being ready and now is as good a time as any to promote the franchise with a remaster now that the dlc for revenant kingdom is out and hype for the film is ramping up.
