Welcome back for another exciting edition of the Kill Your Completion series. This is the 9th iteration, so most of you probably have an idea of what goes on here, but if you are new to the site or this corner of the forums, here's the previous edition of the thread.KYC 9.

 

 

Those of you that participated in or followed the previous events, know by now that Hemiak won't be running this event for a while due to life being busy. He agreed that I'd take over in the meanwhile, so you're stuck with me for the foreseeable future.

Now what does that mean for the event? Well, pretty much everything stays the same. I'll be largely copy-pasting the OP from the previous iterations, while essentially adding a TL;DR version at the bottom. I'm also inclined to cap the maximum number of games at 15 (which was kind of already a thing to begin with). That's pretty much it though.

 

 

The Premise
Participants will each choose a list of at least 5, and up to 10 0% games from their backlog and post them here so everyone can follow along. These games don't have to be pre loaded on your profile, as long as you own them already and haven't earned a trophy they count. Participants will start a new game from that list every couple days for the next month. o.O They WILL then post their thoughts on each game, and write a short review on the final day for each game. This can take any shape or form each person desires.

 

I would prefer people do 5 games for 6 days each, 10/3, but if you have a valid reason for only being able to do 6 or 8 games, that would be acceptable. I would like if people could be a little more prompt with their reviews. I understand stuff comes up. However, if every single review is three games rolled into one, 4 days late, you're not trying very hard.  I also like to see people get the minimum 3 hours per game, so I feel like more than 10 games would be cutting each one too short,

A complete and utter dis-regard for your completion rate (for the next month)

Say you want in
Post your list of the games YOU ALREADY OWN that you haven't started.
Post your completion percent for S&G.

Game Selection Suggestions
These are just suggestions, this will have no bearing on you being added to the event. These are just things that I think make for a more interesting selection of games overall.
- Variety is The Spice...: Try to avoid having more than 1 or 2 of the same type of game on there.
- Try Something New or Different - A list filled with AAA games/remasters that you've already played, from only two different series, is boring.
- Don't choose all games that all have average completion times under 10 hours: You're not fooling anybody. Sneaky participant is not sneaky.

 

TL;DR

Spoiler

• pick 5 - 10 games that are at 0% and play them during the respective amount of days (examples: 5 games/6days each ; 10 games/3 days each)
• don't pick only short and easy games, that's not the point of this even.
• post your list of games
• each game should be played for at least 3 hours total
• write a review/impression/thoughts on the game you played, before moving on to the next one (final review is mandatory, regular updates are optional)
• If you don't want to miss the start of the event, follow the thread.

Okay, I'll sign up. I'm going for the full package of 10 games, 3 days each, 3 hours each.

 

The reason is that I have a HUGE physical backlog and there are two digital games I want to revisit. The last game will be part of another event I'm taking part in(the Gaming by Number event) so I can finish that after the month ends. I need an excuse to get these games on my trophy account, I've been holding off on playing them for too long. Here are the games I plan on doing for this event:

 

I saw the requirement and realized that I might be qualified. I have had other forum accounts but this account is not even four weeks old so I can't join this since I have to wait until Independence Day to join and the sign-ups will be closed. *sigh*

Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite RPG series. My first Kingdom Hearts platinum for this account will be KH3, but I want to pay homage to the games that made it happen. With KH3 being the easiest Kingdom Hearts plat due to the lack of a difficulty trophy, I want to do some nods to the games which forced you to complete the story on the hardest difficulty.

 

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Since they announced that the first Ni no Kuni is coming to PS4, I want to re-platinum this game and experience all the DLC that came out. I might do the 100% and the hard mode bosses because the rest of the DLC gives Evan and his friends some more powerful tools and combat techniques as well as a level cap boost and some new dungeons and quests to get up to that level cap.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

My favorite Final Fantasy game, I want to platinum a Final Fantasy before my life is consumed by the FF7 Remake in 2020.

 

Disgaea 1 Complete

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Disgaea is a funny series about demons and angels and never takes itself seriously.

 

Secret of Mana (PS4)

This is going to be the game I will play last because it's part of my list for another event so I want to put a few trophies in there and get a head start for the next two months. Since all of the great RPGs at E3 will not show until September, I need something to do, and since this game's sequel is getting a 3D redo for March 2020, I want to get a Mana game on this account. I know the remake of this game sucks dorbs, but I hadn't had a problem when I played it on my last account on PS4. (Vita... on the other hand.... )

Usually on the final day of the event each participant gives an overview of all the games they played during the event. You're free to play the games selected on the final day as well though, if you feel like it.

That's why this event is great. I've ended up picking up a handful of games because of the critiques in these events, and ended up passing on a bunch of games thanks to them as well .

I think I'd like to join in on this. I have so many games sitting in my backlog that I'd love to give a try (and personally I don't care about my completion at the moment because it's already so crappy and I'm slowly working on getting it up there).
 

I'm thinking 10 games, 3 days each, 3+ hours a game, I can't see myself not finding an hour to play each day in July. I'm going to be trying as follows (but in no particular order, I'll pick whichever takes my fancy first and go with them until they're all crossed off):

I might swap the order of these, but I think I'm pretty set on playing these specific games. Atelier Lulua will be first as I intend for it to be my 75th Platinum milestone, and I think it's going to take more than 6 days so I'll be playing it intermittently while I'm playing my other games

There are actually more, especially download-only games on PS3. But I want to focus on large games for now. That's why I excluded everything from Telltale.

 

My actual pick will be the following list:

 

1. Wolfenstein: The New Order. It has the easier platinum of both owned Wolfengames.
2. Heavy Rain. I played this on PS3 and it's the game with the least challenging gameplay.
3. Tekken Tag Tournament 2. A game for short bursts.
4. Saints Row IV Re-Elected. I've never played a SR game before. That's why.
5. Final Fantasy X. One FF game has to be on the list. This one I know the best.
   
   Five games in four weeks. Final Fantasy is very time consuming and I haven't played many first person shooters in my life, despite being a gamer since 1989. Those are the two main factor's why I won't raise the number of games to ten.

Even though I am in theory participating on an event to raise my completion rate, I really need to start a couple of new games and have a nice breeze of fresh air. I am going to be on holidays for 10 days on July though, so my time is somewhat limited.

 

However, I will put the following games for now:

 

1. Detroit: Become Human (PS4) I was going to start it for the Bingo Bonanza event, and I'm really looking forward to it.

2. Digimon: Next Order (PS4) I don't know what the hell I am waiting for... A long platinum? Making excuses? Because I really want to start to play this game, since I am a huge Digimon fan.

Love that this is a 5 game event.  Makes it much easier than your entire backlog.  But currently working on my current played backlog.  Can't wait to get in on one of these in the future though!
