SixyLove
Update 016 "I Hear Ominous Singing" Valkyria Revolution Playtime: 33 hours Trophies Earned: 15/28 29% I was going a random mission to level up my party when I started hearing singing (It wasn't actually Country Roads; it would have been a lot creeper and lore breaking if Country Roads started playing). I noticed it was the start of night so I assumed the singing was the harbinger for the Reaper. I was right. Aside from the cutscene of their appearance, I never actually saw the Reaper; I was assaulted by their magic but was unable to locate the source. I was planning on having a epic battle but my objective was right in front of me. Aside from that experience, my time has been spent enjoying the story and leveling. The game has gotten a little harder and bosses are taking a while to defeat. The last fight took 40 minutes but I was having a lot of fun.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Final Review- Lollipop Chainsaw So, I played through another chapter of this odd game. Many new game mechanics were introduced in it. There are zombies with bombs strapped to their chests, that will explode when hit. So you have to hit them, and then run for it. Can be used to blow up other zombies, as well. Your boyfriend, Nick, is now a talking, disembodied head. Worn like an accessory on Juliet's skirt. At times, you can place him on a headless zombie, and after performing a quicktime event get past certain obstacles. There was also a stripper pole where spinning around on it pretty much made you invincible, and took out many zombies. At the end of the level, I fought some punk rocker boss zombie. He had 3 different phases, and you had to do them all without dying. First was dodging attacks and hitting him, like usual. Then the second phase required destroying the speakers he was standing on. The last phase was similar to the first and standard gameplay, except now he started throwing projectiles. Which, if dodged successfully, could be used against him. Hitting him 15 times with his own attack nets you a trophy. After dying once in the process, and coming very close the second time, I just decided to leave it for the next playthrough. :/ That won't be on Hard difficulty, and should be easier. I don't know how much more crazy stuff I'm in for, but so far this has been a good time. Maybe a ? Hard to say this early. That would imply it's perfect, though, and the amount of quicktime events might end up being a little much.. Time played: Not really sure. Should be at least 3 hours, though. Trophy progress: 7/51 for 10% and an E rank. Completion Percentage: -0.11% Hopefully, I can find some time to play the other 2 games for this event. Today was nothing but Uncharted 3, so... yeah. :/

I think that boss battle you refer to, is the one that started testing my patience with the game. All boss battles are kind of exessively long imo, to the point where I wonder if that was intended or a massive oversight in blaancing the game. There has only been one single game I played *including MMOs) that also had a boss fight that took 40 minutes, which was the adamanoitse in FF XV. The next major boss is the one that made me stop playing the game. My enjoyment was already dwindling at the time, and that fight was the last straw for me. I saw, that you played the Valkyria Chronicles games as well. Do you remember, if those games also had that odd looking grid layer throughout the whole game?
SixyLove
@voodoo_eyes I don't think any of the Valkyria Chronicles games have that annoying grid layer over the entire game. I tested Valkyria Chronicles (both PS3 & PS4) this morning and saw no sign of the grid. I don't remember Valkyria Chronicles 2 (I haven't played 3 but I'm sure 3 is safe because it uses a lot of 2's assets) and Valkyria Chronicles 4 having that grid either; I didn't test them today because I don't have the space on my PS4/Vita to install them right now. My Valkyria Revolution review will be a little late. I won't have access to a computer until Tuesday at the least; I use my PS4 for PSNP activities but using a actually computer for this makes writing my reviews less of a nightmare and I save a few hours of writing. I've been considering passing on the Chronicles games, if they had that layer as well, as it bothered me quite a bit during the Valkyria Revolution.
Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #7 - Trillion: God of Destruction - Final Impressions Time played: 3-4h Tropheis earned: 13/36 Considering the games I have left, this'll be my least favourite game of this event. Which is also the reason why I'll wrap it up now, even though I still have a full day, before this one is due. The positives. It's voice acted, partially. This game actually made me realise that a lot of these games start out with voice over and slowly it'll become rarer as the game goes on. Visually it looks fine. There is some issue with the sound mixing, the volume of the voices fluctuate constantly. Story is pretty much what I referred to in the preview. Trillion will destroy the world, you need to stop the god. To do so you'll bring lambs to the slaughter, as in pick a character gain experience (in the lamest way possible) for for 7 weeks, get bitch slapped by the boss and transfer some of the XP you've earned, to the next cahracter in line. There's six characters (maybe more, but I doubt it). All of them are ladies who think clothes are overrated. There's aggro, childish, submissive, sleepy (or stoned), tough and horny. Neptunia characters pay the odd visit and participate in this nonsense as NPCs The story wasn't interesting enough to keep me interested and neither were the odd lewd dialogues. THe gameplay is something else. You've got various tabs during your "leveling" hub. You can buy/improve gear, check characters stats and improve them by earning XP. To unlock new abilities, you also need to spend XP. You can gift or spend time with your heroines to gain affection and finally there are 2 ways to earn XP.. Those actions use stamina which result in the effectiveness of the training. As a result there's also an option to rest, which fills about half your stamina bar (well, it empties it... same difference). Gaining XP is implemented in the most boring and unimaginative way possible. There is no overall XP, so only your stat gains XP (aka points), which you eed to spend to actually increase stats. Option 1, Select stat you want to increase, mini cutscene begins, press . I honestly thought the game was taking the piss. If you're fresh you got to press twice for a bonus stat increase. Option 2 is spend tokens that you get from Option 1 and resting, to enter a mini dungeon, that has a bunch of enemies and chests. You're limited to X number of turns and need to have left the dungeon or you'll get bugger all . Some enemies can one shot or stun lock you as well. The movement in dungeons is terrible.. It's grid-based movement and enemies move when you move (similar to Awakened Fate Ultimatum). This game let's you walk diagonally, well let's say if it feels like it, it let's you walk diagonally as it reads inputs wrong all the time. The movement is also done exclusively with the directionals. Anyway, this was the worst "dungeon crawling" experience I've had so far. After you've done 7 weeks of doing the rotation of pressing to gain XP and resting. You're thrown into battle with Trillion (there are a few mandatory dummy battles in-between, which essentially work the same as the boss fight). The battlefield is a straight line, that's about 10 sqaures wide. You need to walk towards the boss, avoiding attacks and killling the enemies he constantly spawns. It's just a nuisance. All his attacks are AOE attacks that cover a massive area and occasionally there's the odd tile that won't be affected. It's a mess and it's not fun. When you die (that's a given), you can choose a death skill, which will give your next characer a boost. Not sure what they do exactly, because they don't specify. You also lose all items/gear you had equipped on the character that dies. The game was so lovely to only mention that after the first heroine died, so thanks for that . Now do the same again with the remaining characters until you beat the boss. So that's Trillion. It's a and I feel like I've spent at least 2 hours too long on it (I've gone through 2 characters). Popular Post Arctic Cress
Game #5 - Fate/Extella Link Time played: 3 hours Trophies: 13/44 (20% - E) To preface this review a bit, I'm a big fan of the Fate series, starting all the way back from the fan translated visual novel, and have played every game in the series that has been released outside of Japan, including Unlimited Codes, Extra, the first Extella, and of course Grand Order. I'm familiar with all the characters except Charlemagne who is the main character of this game, since he hasn't been added to Grand Order yet. Anyway. Fate/Extella Link starts some time after the ending of Extella, where the Master from the previous game is living in SE.RA.PH with Nero Claudius, Tamamo-no-Mae, and Altera (Attila the Hun). Attack programs start to spawn within SE.RA.PH again near where the Master is, and he or she is saved by the appearance of a new Servant, Charlemagne. Altera then runs off and goes missing during the chaos, and we're left with Charlemagne, Nero, and Tamamo to deal with the new threat trying to take over SE.RA.PH known as Rex Magnus. As you proceed through the story, new characters appear and join your forces, all of them being other famous heroes from either historical accounts or different mythologies. The biggest difference from this and its previous game is that the game's speed has been significantly improved, and the game feels a lot better to play as a result. Like any musou, you'll rack up tons and tons of KOs in any battle you play. Personally, I cleared the first mission with over 6,000 KOs in only around twenty minutes so there's a lot of cannon fodder to blast through. Each character can equip four skills that can be used with the button along with the face buttons, and they can be either assigned to additional attacks or buffs. I tend to spam these a lot when they've recharged - their cooldowns are pretty short overall for the ones I have equipped. The gauges that use Moon Drive (a power-up that increases damage) and the Noble Phantasm gauge (your Servant's most powerful attack) have been changed as well. The Moon Drive is no longer needed to do rush attacks, they just happen as you attack enemy servants. Moon Drive mode also has a special attack you can use at any time that deals significant damage, but ends the mode when used. As such, it's best used near the end of the mode's duration. There's no need to collect powerups within the stages for the Noble Phantasm anymore (though they still appear and help boost it if needed) as any attack used in Moon Drive mode will help raise the NP gauge. Because of this, it's not uncommon to use two or sometimes three Noble Phantasms in a single stage, making sector clearing pretty simple. I had to raise the difficulty to Hard after the first few missions because Normal was proving to be a bit too easy for me. Since I played the original Fate/Extella on the Vita, and now I'm playing this on the PS4, the jump in graphics is obvious. However, I've seen no real new stages from the ones in Extella, which is somewhat disappointing so far. Hopefully there are a few more as I continue through the story mode. I've also unlocked a few stages in the Extra mode as well, but I haven't really looked through those much. It might be helpful when getting the "kill X character while playing as Y character" trophies that are on the trophy list, as the bosses of each are clearly labelled. The mystic code (additional skills to help with healing or offense), bond (relationships with your Servant that unlock new skills and costumes), and install skill (skills that boost different attributes or increase drops) system all return from the first Extella as well. None have changed much from there, but bonds can be raised more easily as sometimes in the main base, a Servant will ask you to take on their mission, which counts as a sub-mission in the next stage. Completing it raises the bond more than a regular sub-mission, so it's recommended to do these when they pop up. There's apparently some combining with install skills based on the trophy list, but I haven't unlocked that function yet. It seems like I'm close to the first ending, so I might play this a bit more before starting my next game. I'll definitely put in the time to head for the platinum in this one, as it doesn't seem to be the grindy mess that Extella 1's platinum was. Starting completion %: 71.51% Current completion %: 70.81% Difference: -0.70% Mary Skelter: Nightmares - 10/34 (14% - D) Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll - 2/42 (2% - E) [Apex Legends - 3/12 (15% - D)] Nurse Love Addiction - 17/25 (57% - C) The Silver Case HD - 6/26 (11% - E) A significant drop of 0.16%. I only got one other trophy besides the ones in Fate and it was a bronze, so my completion rate dropped accordingly. Planning to do either Ar nosurge or Resident Evil HD next, as neither of them will require me to take out the Fate/Extella Link disc yet. I do intend to finish Nurse Love Addiction soon as well, perhaps sometime during this week. I will make a new review once I'm done because my original review didn't have much to say, but now I have a lot to say about it. Definitely not the visual novel I thought it was.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Day 1 2- School Girl/Zombie Hunter This is really becoming a trend with this round of KYC, where I just don't get to the game on Day 1. Anyways, this one... this one is weird. And not in the Lollipop Chainsaw "this is so ridiculous " way. I hope it starts getting a bit more interesting, because the first few missions have been anything but. You play as one of 5 girls, of which I have only unlocked two. And since this game is more of a shooter, I don't know if it matters which one you pick. They can all be equipped with the same guns, so unless they have some special abilities I haven't learned about, there's nothing different besides looks and possibly melee attacks. I played the first 3 missions, and pretty much did exactly the same thing in each one. Run through the areas, shooting very slow moving zombies in the head. I don't even know what happens when they get to and attack you, that's how easy they've been. And they only took a few minutes to complete. I replayed them all for faster times and SSS ranks, since you have to SSS rank every mission on every difficulty for a trophy. Shooting is an odd mechanic, too. Have to move the cursor to a zombie and then fire. It's not very fluid, and running and gunning would be a struggle. The melee attacks are largely useless? Just knocks them back. And I got stuck on a door for a minute, until I rolled into it. That knocked it down. Zombies seem to drop new guns every so often, which can be changed in the load out section. Along with what the girls wear. There seems to be... a lot of fanservice. The melee attacks typically show their underwear in the process. Or you can change their outfit to just their underwear. Story isn't too interesting either, so far. Cheesy melodrama. It's also not dubbed, so prepare to read. Hope it gets better, but I'm not holding my breath. I might just turn into a zombie. Time played: Less than an hour. Trophy progress: 9/41 for 12% and an E rank.

Popular Post AsaraBaenre
Game 7: Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (July 19th - July 21st) Time Played: 5 hr Trophies Earned: 6/64 (7%) Current Completion: 24.30% (+1.46%) What a completely strange and yet SO enjoyable game! It basically makes a parody of most FPS games and has a lot of game styles based on those games (capture the flag, wave defense, capture/defend objectives, etc etc) where players are either on the plants team or the zombies team. Each team has a handful of playable characters that have three activated abilities each. Each playable character has unlockable skins (bought via random booster card packs, or two skins get showcased a week and those can be bought straight out) and I averaged about 10 games to gain enough to buy a skin outright. Each skin slightly modifies one of the abilities of the original character (changes an acid spit to a fire spit, causes bullets to do less damage but chain to other nearby enemies) but doesn't make them (at least from what i've seen) overpowered. Sometimes you can get thrown off by a new skin if it does sometihng radically different than what you're used to that character doing but nothing too crazy. At first I couldn't find anyone to matchmake with but then I realized there was an event going on and that's where everyone was. It was total chaos with everyone racking up 10-15 kills a round (usually a round lasted 5-10 minutes) and absolutely totally fun, even when losing. Anyone who likes shooters, squad based games, would definitely reccomend. 8/10, will come back for plat. Game 8 Preview: XCOM 2 (July 22nd - July 24th) Game Stats: 86,646 Game Owners; 730 (0.84%) Platinum Achievers / 204 (0.28%) 100% Completed; 12% Average Completion 81 Trophies (1/2/18/60) Playstation Store Description: Earth has changed and is now under alien rule. Popular Post RuneEyesDragon
Game #7: Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD (Obviously, I am horrible at keeping count and skipped a number after the third game. Where was my brain? Don't worry, I am going through all of the previous posts and editing the correct numbers into them.) Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance Drinking Game: Take a shot every time you are forced to use Balllonra. New Completion %: 81.79% (it's actually a little less because I earned a trophy but accidentally updated my profile before I got the trophy so I have to wait a half-hour because I don't want to spend the $20 for a Premium Account. I'll update this post after I can synch my trophies again.) # of Trophies that Dropped the Dream(lolz): 10 # of Trophies that Are Still Sleeping: 44 My Game Experience: I.M.H.O, this is my favorite Kingdom Hearts game because it doesn't have Donald and Goofy. (pointed to the story) Okay, it doesn't have Donald and Goofy as COMPANIONS who bug you with their banter or their looks. I'm sorry, I am committing a Sacred Sin by saying this, but I never enjoyed Donald or Goofy because my experience with them was in Disney shorts that really grated on my gears and scared me. (Mickey too, but I'll have to deal with the fanged Frankenstein Pete that was in that one short where Mickey had his brain switched with it when I have to defeat him for the Ultima Weapon later. ) In the end, I know that Sora, Donald and Goofy are a team and they stood the stand of darkness so many times that at the end, when facing off against the ultimate villain, it was their goofy voices that saved Sora from failing and Kingdom Hearts ending in tragedy. However, I really enjoy the Dream Eaters. Yes, I may be the only one who likes these weird Escheresque pastel monsters, but I grew up - well, actually, I grew old on it because Pokemon didn't first appear until I was way into college ) - on Pokemon and I had my favorites. That's not to say that these weird creatures are better than Donald and Goofy, they tend to be meat shields that usually get killed if you aren't careful, especially near the endgame. I like how Sora and Riku team up again. Well, again, it's not true - like in Chain of Memories, you don't play both of them in the same team, you have to switch control and the game has a timer to how long you can play as Sora or Riku before you get forced to switch. Yes, the worlds are small dungeons that don't really have the open-world feel that KH3 has, but remember, this came out first on the Nintendo 3DS, and the graphics then resembled Kingdom Hearts if the people behind Miitopia had made the graphics, so there wasn't very much to work with memory-wise. The whole dive mechanic and Dream Eaters and Link Portals were all pretty cool, and I love that they brought back the portals from this game for the Battle Portals in KH3. I really enjoyed this game and was glad it got front and center in Kingdom Hearts 2.8, even if the other entries were a glorified tech demo about Aqua and a movie about the events in Union Cross with the Foretellers. The Struggle: Not much to say here, I didn't get very far. All of the trophies I earned were probably the quickest and easiest trophies, though Water Barrel Master is probably the worst. This is because in the original KH Dream Drop Distance 3D, the game used the Nintendo 3DS touch screen and it was much easier to get 400 points and keep the Dream Eaters from falling into the pinball gutter. Since they removed touch screen features in the remake, you have to use the shoulder buttons to hit them with the flippers and use jets that were installed to push them about, which is clunkier and easier to mess up. I almost never lost a glowing flower in the 3D version of Water Barrel, but in HD, I usually missed a few and that cost me points towards the required 400, meaning I didn't get enough in time. It is nice that you can quit out of the minigame and not do it and you still get partial credit. Otherwise, Happy Camper would have been a grind. Still haven't unlocked Drop-Me-Nots yet since I think you have to beat Hockomonkey once to get those, and I haven't entered the 4th District of Traverse Town yet, but it'll be interesting. I am not chiding Square-Enix for their lazy way of forcing you to do this game on the highest difficulty you can have, Proud(Criticial is locked until you beat the game once and do a New Game+); after all, I managed to platinum re:Chain of Memories once and did it all on Proud, I can do it for this game too. My Game Rating: 5/5 My Trophy List Rating: 5/5 Hardest Trophy Left to Get: All of the Flick Rush trophies, because Flick Rush is a waste of time Easiest Trophy Left to Get: "A Divided World", because I just have to beat Hockomonkey with both Sora and Riku to do that. So ends my Kingdom Hearts plays. Tomorrow(or two hours in, it's 11 PM where I am at), I will be working on a BIGGIE: Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Wish me luck. voodoo_eyes
Game #8 - Dishonored 2 - Preview A few KYCs ago, I played Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, which became one of my favourite games. As such, I now have high hopes for Dishonored 2 as well. It's a stealth game, that gives you a range of abilities that make it possible to go through the whole game without ever having to get into conflict. Which is probably what my first playthrough atrempt is going to be, a non-lethal ghost run. That'll involve a lot of save scumming . Anyway, looking forward to this one.
Popular Post SixyLove
Update 017 "Burning in the Ring of Fire" Valkyria / Neptunia Playtime: 60 hours / 47 minutes Trophies Earned: 20/28 55% / 2/36 2% 20th July: I was pushing my progress in Valkyria Revolution as far I as I could to get to the end of the story. The game halted to a grind at this time. The recommend levels for missions were way above my characters levels; I did a lot of grinding but it took a very long time. I eventually decided to forget grinding and did the missions anyway. I got through most fights by using my "Ring of Fire" spell (not the real spell name). The spell summons a ring of fire that burns enemies inside of it. The spell works on every soldier but doesn't effect tanks & most bosses. The spell doesn't kill but will bring its victims down to 1 HP. I got through many fights by casting it on groups and cleaning up the stranglers normally. Despite my totally not an exploit tactics and skills, I hit a wall when I got to a boss fight. I won first try but It 66 minutes. The battle wasn't enjoyable and I was done playing Valkyria at that point. I finished my session around 3:00, 21st July. Since I only earned one trophy playing Valkyria Revolution (I have a 3 trophies per day quota), I needed to earn 2 more before I went to bed (the day isn't over until i sleep by my rules). I considered a lot of options to earn quick trophies. Musynx was not a option this time and I didn't sink low enough to play the mayo game again. Since it was July 21st, I played Super Neptunia RPG because Neptunia games usually give a trophy for hitting start; Sadly, there was no start trophy this time. Despite being ready to pass out, I tried to enjoy Neptunia to the best of my ability. The game is very nice so far. Neptune has amnesia again, but she pointed out the cliché, therefore negating the bad writing and turning into top class meta humor #Sarcasm. Then she ate a some cookies a group of strangers gave her and then was told to do quests. I jumped around the first town and gathered a lot of quests. Thankfully, I got a trophy for opening a chest and getting into my first real fight. I saved my progress multiple times before exiting the game because I'm very paranoid about these things. The DLC I bought for the game was working correctly so I was happy. Neptune has IF, you're friend since the very first game that no one would ever possible forget about, Compa, Neptune's other friend that enables her bad habits, and some other girl that I believe is a new character, in her party from the start. The game hasn't made a effort to explain why they're in my party yet. I ignored Neptunia after I got my two trophies. I really wanted to get to the end of Valkyria Revolution so I just did that today/yesterday. I spent hours gaining 5 levels because I didn't want to be under level anymore because bosses. I was still ten levels under when I decided to screw leveling and just ring of fire my way to the end. Everything went well until I got to another annoying boss. The level before it was really long so I hoped the game would let me start at the boss if I died; I hadn't failed a story mission until that point. It turns out you have to repeat the whole mission if you fail. I started to get mad at the game (I rarely get mad at games) while playing the level over again but fortunately I learned from my mistakes and beat the boss. The rest of the game went on with zero issue and I've seen all of the main story. I just have to do a grinding a clean up trophies now. I'll stop playing Valkyria Revolution and play the game I should be playing now... After I get some sleep. I'm not proud of my self destructive behavior.
Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYCX Game No. 5 Alekhine's Gun Playing Time: 1 hour Trophies Earned: Zero Final Thoughts: ?️Utter garbage. I've probably played 60-70 game titles in my KYC career, and have never come across a game that I just completely abandoned and want nothing to do with ever again...until Alekhine's Gun. What a disaster. It's stealth game and I'm guessing it's a rip-off of the Hitman series. The story has something to do with the CIA, possibly JFK's assassination, but you begin in WWII. The game premise is to take out your targets and you get graded on how stealthy you were in each level. This game's biggest problem is it feels so antiquated, as if it's a remaster from a PS1 game. Unfortunately, it's not. It's just pure shoddiness by the developers. I don't mind playing reboots or retro games. I just played God of War a couple KYC's ago and really enjoyed it. But this is just clunky, with poor character movement, dumb AI, and terrible interaction between the two. It feels like a poor version of Syphon Filter, and that game was the epitome of clunky character movement. It gets forgiven because it came out 20 years ago for the PS1 and at the time, it sure felt cool. But it's unplayable now because gaming has advanced. So how Alekhine's Gun got released in today's market is an enigma. Things went awry pretty quickly when I tried to take out a guard silently and it looked like a Three Stooges skit. The two characters were walking into each other and grabbing for air. If anything goes amiss with taking out an enemy, DEFCON 1 begins and you got shot from a battalion of baddies. Or at least that's how it felt. My controller was rumbling away in my hands as my character turned into a bullet sponge and ended up just running around until he had been filled with a crate of ammo. There's no auto save so you are responsible for remembering to save every few minutes, otherwise it's back to the start. I only got one night of playing time into this, because frankly, I didn't want to play it. I can't think of another game that I dreaded playing so much. Maybe Day of the Tentacle? Unless someone else has played this, and can say "Oh Perry, that was the first level. It gets SO much better after that," this game is getting deleted from my profile and will never be addressed again. Grade: ? It doesn't get better and some of the trophies are buggy as well. Personally I found it to be okay still, and if it had been released around the time the first Hitman games came out, it would've been better received despite it's issues. It was just a good 15(?) years too late. Oddly enough this game is apparently a sequel to Death to Spies, which I never heard of until this game got released. Popular Post Psy-Tychist
Tharsis (This screen will happen reasonably often when you think it's going well) Playtime: 4 hours 15 minutes Played: Found 2 crew members, survived to Mars once in 21 attempts. Trophies: 6/12 - 35% Completion: 60.71% - ➡️ 0.00% Feeling: Tense and Unhappy. The review is a bit late, but my thoughts on it haven't changed. I originally saw this on YouTube (can't remember which channel) and was interested in the type of mechanic. It eventually made its way to console and when on sale, I snapped it up for under a fiver. The problem with luck games is that getting the conditions you want can take many many attempts. It's what put me off the game to try out on the whim. But now is as good as any to dive in and see what happens. The story is told in small static images, a crew is tasked to make it to Mars, the Tharsis region specifically (as per the name of the game). Not much is actually mentioned of the specific mission, but on the way to Mars a catastrophic meteoroid strike kills 2 crew members and causes severe damage to the ship. The game then tasks you with one role: Survive. Mechanically, it is very simple to do. It is an RNG dice rolling game which you have no control over the outcome. The crew stats are randomly generated as well as how many die you have to roll to solve issues that pop up each turn. Solve the issues and the bad stuff on them won't happen to the ship or the crew. Each turn you successfully survive, the crew loses one dice to use next turn and there is also a risky dialogue choice which has aspects of positive and negative. An example being gaining 2 health for some crew but losing 1 ship health. On rare occasions, there are no positives or negatives. Deeper parts of the mechanics are that each part of the ship will offer different bonuses and additions to help survive more turns. The Greenhouse provides food for two of the same number of dice (e.g 2 Fours). The Pilots Capsule allows no movement damage if passing through a damaged area. The Med Bay will allow one character to get to full health. Other parts of the ship provide Ship Health, Regaining Dice and Assists. Ah yes, the other evil part of the game. When rolling dice, besides not getting the numbers you require, there are effects in place to force dice to stay as they are. The three types of effects are Injury (causing one damage to health per dice on that number), Stasis (locking the number on the dice in place) and Void (which removes the dice entirely). Assists negate these effects, but you only have 3 available if you have access to them. You start with one Assist per game, but that will disappear quickly. All in all, there are many small mechanics which add up to make it rather stressful to complete games and sometimes the game will just not let you win. Throughout the games I played, I made it to Mars once and I had 4 crew left alive. On this occasion, I didn't have enough dice to fix the ship and get a crew member into the Pilot Module and survive. I made a decision to have the mechanic go to the Pilot Module and try and roll a 5 to add ship health (he has a personal ability to add ship health) to survive the last term. He only had the one dice to use, no extras and no re-rolls. I got extremely lucky and rolled the 5 needed to land on Mars and finish the story. The story was very vague and implies either time travel or an alternate universe is the cause of the strange images you see throughout the journey. Overall, the game is fun in doses, the mechanics are solid and doesn't really pose too much trouble when playing it. Like most dice rolling though, it is going to take a long time to go through the game and unlock all the characters and even get to the end of the mission because of the RNG. If you like board games or something to play between games, this is a good stocking stuffer. If you like this (style of game), try these: FTL, Blood Bowl 2, XCOM 2. Next Game: Pyre.

Popular Post SixyLove
Update 018 "Paying to Win" Super Neptunia RPG Playtime: 7 hours Trophies Earned: 12/36 23% I bought three DLC characters; IF, Compa and Artisan. IF and Compa are series regulars making a DLC appearance while Artisan a new plot centric character is only playable via DLC. The DLC characters are a lot stronger then the actual characters in my experience so far. I'm not sure if it's the skills I taught them or their stats are just better. The DLC characters come with equipment that have strong skills attached to them (the skill system is the same as Final Fantasy 9's skill system) but the characters become weak to everything with the equipment on. Compa is the MVP so far. I taught her a fire skill that hit every enemy hard. A lot of enemies have also been weak to fire so far. IF can hit single targets very hard and is a really good physical attacker. Artisan also performs better then everyone else. Ever other character I've played doesn't preform as well as these 3. Neptune & Blanc are okay, Noire is terrible but saved my butt once, I haven't tried Vert yet and Chrom is... I mean Chrome is rubbish. Puddingo is also in my party but he/she only helps with platforming. Puddingo is a very good pudding monster. I really regret not buying the limited edition for the plushie and soundtrack. I'm not sure if I should turn Super Neptunia RPG into Super Compa + Iffy RPG. Using the story characters would be a bit of a chore. It would take a while to train them and the story has split my party members up a lot so far. IF, Compa and Artisan never abandon me like true friends. I'm honestly not sure about what I will do going forward.
Popular Post Arctic Cress
Game #6 - Resident Evil HD Time played: 3 hours Trophies: 3/45 (4% - E) One of my friends has been trying to get me into various Capcom series for years (right now he wants me to play Mega Man for instance) and Resident Evil is another series he's recommended to me. I've been pretty much putting it off for years, but I've finally decided to start it for this event. I'm not that impressed with it yet, however. The game starts with a number of people from the organization S.T.A.R.S. investigating losing contact with one of their helicopters near Raccoon City. Upon arrival, they are attacked by a number of zombified dogs, and take cover in a seemingly abandoned mansion. Of course, it's not completely abandoned, and there's zombies wandering around, and several of their members go missing as they explore the mansion. I started with Jill, so Chris was lost first, followed by Wesker shortly afterwards. Barry and Jill, the two remaining characters left, eventually split up to search the mansion separately, coming into contact with each other a few times since. So far, I've retrieved a few keys, one of the masks (of which there are four, from what I've seen so far?) and a grenade launcher. The inventory system is kind of annoying to me overall with its very limited amount of items you can carry, but it makes sense given the survival theme of the game. The item boxes make this a little better, but you still have to backtrack to those to get any items that may be important. I have also found that there are a lot of enemies, especially when returning to certain areas. Definitely more enemies then I have bullets to destroy them with, so ammo is at a premium here, even with three guns and a knife collected so far. Basically, the game invokes the survival horror theme very well in how the game is played. So far, though, I just don't enjoy the genre at all. It's not my type of game, but I'll see if I can tough it out and get at least to the ending. Though I'm not excited to return to this one as I am to some of the other titles that I've played for this event. Starting completion %: 71.51% Current completion %: 70.75% Difference: -0.76% Mary Skelter: Nightmares - 10/34 (14% - D) Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll - 2/42 (2% - E) [Apex Legends - 3/12 (15% - D)] Nurse Love Addiction - 25/25 (100% - S) The Silver Case HD - 7/26 (14% - E) Fate/Extella Link - 13/44 (20% - E) Pretty sure there's no surprise on why the completion rate didn't drop as much despite the 42 new trophies added, given the update. You can see my updated opinion on Nurse Love Addiction on my trophy checklist, if you want. Time to start another game, anyway. It'll be Ar nosurge on the PS3 so I can finish up the required three hours on those two games I have left on that system by either Friday or Saturday.

Ar Nosurge was a hidden gem for me. althrough I'm not quite sure why I enjoyed it as much as I remember enjoying the combat and it being original in that regard. It not overstaying it's welcome and there basically being basically no grinding were contributing factors too. Curious to see what you think of it, as I know some people didn't really care for this game.
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 5 : Dead Cells Another game that appears on my list because of the number of positive things i've heard about. Dead Cells is a Roguelike action platformer, that definitely deserves the positive reviews that it has received. You are an organism that inhabits a the dead body of a prisoner to investigate what is going on. the game plays as a relatively simple platformer with lots of combat, you have the choice of melee or ranged weapons and a shield but you can only ever have 2 at any one time you you are forced to choose which style you want to play. Its a typical roguelike that you die frequently, however as you progress you unlock new powers and abilities which give you a better chance next time through. These powers and abilities also open up new areas, which create multiple paths you can progress through the game, the levels are randomly generated each playthrough so there is no learning routes possible here, its very much adapt as you go. Similarly you can't be sure what weapons or equipment you will find so you do have to work with what is available, this does help keep the game feeling fresh on the MANY playthroughs you will need in order to beat the game. Its hard to describe what makes the game so good, it just feels natural while you playing through it, and while death comes regularly it never feels unfair, and normally you can see what you need to do better next time. I think i've got just over half way through on my best run, so i'm very much hoping this will continue. Its another game i'm unlikely to go for the platinum on, as it requires playing through the game a number of times on ever increasing difficulty levels, which i'm unlikely to have the patience for. But i will go back to this to beat the main game and probably attempt some of the other challenges. Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 6: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom Another platform game, i really must try and get more variety into my list next time, but this is absolute gem and not one i was expecting to be honest. You are Jin, a boy who's uncle turn everyone into animals (not clear why yet), Jin himself is turned into a pig and sets out to try and undo the damage, as he progress on this adventure he gains the ability to transform into other animals, the picture above will give you a good idea which ones, and eventually (presumably because i haven't got that far yet) himself again. The animals all have special abilities and powers (the frog can swim, the snake squeezes through small holes, the lion can run very fast etc.) so Jin has to switch between his forms to progress the game and to access new areas. There is also a wide range of gear which can be equipped by various characters which gives even more option and variety to the puzzle solving. Where the game really shines though is some of the unique solutions to puzzle, I have really been cursing the game for its difficulty spikes in a few places, but generally when i'm doing this it was me approaching the problem in the wrong way no the game being too difficult. In particular there is a point where you have to freeze a waterfall and hen climb up it, except everytime i stood on the ice block they were melting, i spent a great deal of time trying to do jump and freeze at the same time before the blocks melted and almost managed to get to the top this way and with more perseverance i may have managed it, but just before i was about to give up, my wife pointed out it was because i was wearing my fire boots which were melting the ice, after changing my boots and it suddenly became very straight forwards. My one criticism is the checkpoint issue again, and dying can set you back a long way, but they do get round this slightly by allowing you to carry a potion which will revive you instantly if you die without any loss of progress. But i highly i recommend this one for anyone into platform/metroidvania type games. Playtime: 6 hours Trophies: 12/33 Rating:
Popular Post Kevvik
Game #7: The Caligula Effect Initial/Day 3 Impressions Time played: 14 hrs This got an initial review earlier in the event so I won't go into too much detail but it's a 3rd person RPG set in a high school. At opening ceremonies, you freak out because people start looking all distorted. Running out you come across a being who seems upset you don't like the world she created which pisses off other people when she leaves. You pick up a supporter and a fairy helps you unlock your inner emotions to become a human(?) weapon. Battle ensues. You join up with like minded students who want to escape from the world you are in while those who want to stay try to stop you. The story isn't bad so far but doesn't feel like anything exceptional. The characters don't feel like the stereotypical tropes but seem familiar all the same. Combat is sort of turn-based, running on a flowing timeline, allowing you to plan and coordinate your moves with your party to combine attack patterns. You also have a preview section where you see your moves being played out prior to confirming your action. This allows you to delay moves in order to line them up with others but it also delays your next sequence of moves. You also work with limited SP which you need to recharge in longer battles, leaving you vulnerable. It's an interesting idea that p, so far, has played out well, though tight areas can give you crap views to watch all of this unfold. There is also a friendship system with 500+ other students in the school. Building friendship gives you access to superficial/deep traumas which can give you buff passive abilities if you help them sort them out. An interesting concept but building friendship includes just talking to them and not much else. Haven't decided if I think this is good or tedious yet. This isn't a bad game but it doesn't feel great either. The main quest line feels very repetitive and paced more like filler than keeping me interested. We'll see how it goes later. Trophies earned: 5/46, 7% for D rank Score so far: 6/10 Completion Rate: 83.41% (-0.87% for the event) Next up: Game #8: The Unfinished Swan
