So I'm neither too worried nor to excited about what awaits me with this title. Metacritic doesn't rate this much higher than Saw II (for whatever that's worth), and that one was absolute trash. I still haven't actually finished watching the show, so I guess for now I?ll just play the game. Don't know too much about it to be honest. I'm not sure, if the story is cannon or if it's just a quick cash grab. This game is an RPG, as such I'm expecting quests, good storytelling, exploration, skills, a lot of fighting and maybe crafting. Let's see how many of those boxes end up being ticked. I'm also curious to see how polished this is, for a licensed game. I played this for 360 back when it was released. Much like the telltale game you do not actually need to know the full story since it is a side story that supposedly happens during the same time frame. What I remember of was just ok at best. Let's see tomorrow what you think of it.

Arctic Cress
Starting stats for me Games played: 342 Games completed: 200 Completion %: 71.51% Unearned trophies: 2,890 Comparing to KYC 9's start, I've increased both played and completed games by 12, increased completion % by 1.64% and lowered unearned trophies by 8. Overall, a good recovery from that KYC. While I'll still be playing Dragon Quest XI throughout the event, I'll be starting my first game, and to not overlap with the PS4 for now, I'll tackle the two Vita games first.
dmland12
Have fun everyone. It's July here, so here's where I'm starting from: 96.28% completion. Fun fact: According to my records that's the exact same percentage I started KYC 7 with and I believe is also the highest I've ever had. Time to knock it down a little.

What killed the enjoyment on those was the constant framerate stutter in 2 and the final third of the 3rd game literally didn't render in the environment (aka your gameworld was pitch black with the only visible object being torches on walls): So as long as it doesn't have technical issues, it shouldn't ruin the gam for me entirely. 4 hours ago, Together_Comic said: Game 1: Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas A short story about how this game came to find itself in my backlog: So I know almost nothing about this game other than the fact that is supposedly similar in style to the Legend of Zelda (Yay), has music by Nobou Uematsu (Double Yay), and fishing (Not so Yay). If you really don't want to continue playing the Sonic game, play a game that isn't part of your list instead, until it's time tor your 2nd game. You're also free to still switch out games from your list while the event is ongoing. The caveat to this is that the game you want to switch out hasn't been started by you yet. Popular Post RuneEyesDragon
Aaand start... oh crap, I forgot to report my initial completion, noooooooooooooooo!!! I think it was 94.60% or something. Let me at least post the other stats(edited to remove the Disgaea trophies: Starting Statistics Platinum Trophies: 25 Completion Percentage: 94.60% (estimate) Games Played: 26 Games Completed: 25 Unearned Trophies: 39 Game 1 Update: I actually got N00bie Grinder and Intermediate Grinder one hour into my game. If you think that's wrong, you're right! Those trophies are only give if your party's total level is 100 and 1000 respectively, and for some reason the game glitched and thought my total party level was 3200... but all I had were a Mage and Male Healer and some trash prinnies and Etna, all of them no more than Level 17! I think the game gave me a Level of 3200 because I was playing in Etna Mode and the game thought I had finished the game and had uber characters. Well, I am not complaining but I will have to get a party level of 3200 to deal with Baal and all the EX bosses, including Prinny Baal. I got the trophy for 100 kills too because I was grinding in Etna Mode, I like that more better than the main story. Anyways, other than that I got to Chapter 2 and I like how they replaced the weird creepy imps from the original with the imps from Disgaea 5. Still hate their Hell Pepper move though. I won't say anything since you probably won't have to deal with the Ghost or ot Fish until after the event, so just say I warned you. Those fish really soured this game for me. Popular Post AsaraBaenre
Happy Kill Your Completion Day everyone! (And Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!) Game 1 Preview: Beholder Complete Edition (July 1st - July 3rd) Game Stats: 919 Game Owners; 117 (12.73%) Platinum Achievers; 19% Average Completion 49 Trophies (1P/2G/12S/34B) Playstation Store Description "You’re a Government-installed landlord in a totalitarian State. Your job is to spy on tenants, peep into their lives, eavesdrop on their conversations and profile everyone to ensure laws are beyond obeyed and the State is kept happy. Anyone caught plotting against the State’s ever-changing laws MUST be reported. But will you? Set in a dystopian world where privacy is dead and the State controls every aspect of life, it’s your choice to continue being what the State requires, or be the empathetic landlord who turns a blind eye. All your choices will have consequences , and the consequences will be yours to deal with. Beholder Complete Edition also contains the Blissful Sleep DLC, a new scenario based on an ex-landlord, with all new tenants and stories to discover." I've played Beholder before on the PC and really liked it, but like so many other games across all my platforms I played it for a short time then wandered off to something else. I chose this game first because I'm really hard pressed for work during this first week of July and I know that as a management sim it is less time demanding than say, an RPG or tactical game. I'm planning on getting in at least an hour tonight (we will see what my schedule allows) and will be posting my review on the morning of the 4th, at which point I will choose my second game!

Popular Post SixyLove
Update 002 Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Hapiness Playtime: 6 hours Trophies earned: 0/36 0% I'm really enjoying Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness so far. I have logged about 6 hours into it, give or take. I fell asleep after I was done playing this morning, it may have been the emotional effect the game had on me or I was just really tired for some reason. I don't feel like I'm too far into the game yet, I'm only on my first playthrough and a lot of visual novels require multiple playthroughs. The game has been really stingy with the trophies so far; I actually have not earned a single one so far. I feel like I'm going to get a gad ending (I usually always get the bad ending) and my decision to keep taking mental supplements every chance I get will backfire at some point. I'm really interested to see what differences my choices make on future playthroughs. Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Game #1 Day 1 The Caligula Effect Starting PCG 53.57% Current 53.12% Trophies 3/46. 4% Have you ever wanted to go back and redo high school? There are so many who see those times as their prime and never want it to end. So imagine being trapped in a VR simulation of your school that forever loops. Once you graduate, you respawn as a freshman and begin again. Most are oblivious to what is going on or want to escape from reality so come to accept things as they stand. Escapism is is a common theme in game now days and is in front row center here. Your classmates and understanding them are a key part of this game. There are over 500 students, each with their own surface and deep issues. Becoming friends with them to unlock their inner demons is a part of how you gain new skills. There s a very complex grid system for every grade and class. If you played The Stick of Truth, you might be familiar with the Facebook friend system. Some you couldn't acquire until you met certain prerequisites. Same things sort of apply here but in a very complex grid. You also need it because each class has it's own side quest that you can only solve by unlocking its members. These are by far the hardest part of the game it seems. There are 21 classes each with own side quest and trophy associated with it. And each is a UR in the 2-3% range. There are also other traits that are closer to being a Persona type game. Your weapon is unique because of your individual heart and a lot of mumbo jumbo that does not make any sense. Combat is based on your ability to make combos to stagger your enemies and then take advantage. You are able to strategize because there is a holo sim that shows how the moves will play out before you confirm. While this can slow things down some, it helps you make more informed decisions because it also shows enemy actions. So what are my gripes. Well there are times I think a lack of substance. Let me give you an example. The game starts at a sort of graduation and incoming students assembly. Class leaders are giving speeches. Except there is no dialogue. It goes here is this student, student mimics talking for two seconds and moves on to next one. It just seems lazy in a way. It does the same thing as you talk with the students in the hallways. There is a generic intro statement, there seem to be only a handful of them. It mimics like you have a conversation, and closes with another generic statement. I have also read that you need to daily upload your save to the cloud. There is the possibility of your save becoming corrupted at certain save points and losing everything. Woe to those that it happened to as they were going for the grind of getting to level 100 and then getting this bug. Even an with the faults, the game has a lot going for it. What surprises me is the huge drop off at the beginning of this game. 85% of people complete the prologue but only then 38% complete the first boss. That is a huge drop. As I play a bit more perhaps I will see why.
SixyLove
@Ashuri-B I have only watched 2 episodes of Psycho-Pass (Episodes 1 & 2 of season 1) back in 2015. The reason I didn't watch the rest was because I stopped watching anime at the time; I've tried to get into anime again several times over the years, I usually binge a series or two then get too busy with gaming again. I remember liking the show a lot and can still remember parts of what I saw really well.

Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYCX Game No. 1 First Impressions: Look at the above graphic - did you catch it? Yep! There's a subtle guillotine in there! Strangely, I'm two hours in and nobody has gotten a close shave from Dr. Guillotine's razor yet. But there's been opportunities! So this game is so new (just released last week), there's not much information about it out there. Heck, I didn't even know what the gameplay would be like, so I really went in blind. So far, it's held my interest. You begin the game as a judge, right as the French Revolution begins. You are presented with information on a case before you, such as facts, witnesses, evidence, etc. Your job is to compile all that information, and connect the corresponding pieces together to get a full picture of the case. It's vaguely similar to L.A. Noire, but there's no wandering around in open environment picking up clues. All the info is before you, just choose carefully to link the appropriate pieces. Once you hear the case, you choose the verdict for the accused, and you have the options of acquittal, prison or ?? ✂️⚰️ (that's the best guillotine emoji I can come up with). Each case takes roughly 10-20 minutes of reading lots of text. Your decisions affect your standing amongst various factions, including common folk, revolutionaries, etc. Your family will also experience consequences relating to your verdicts. So yes, you can choose whichever ending you want for each case, but It'll bite you in the ass if you're not careful. Need an example? In my first playthrough, I kept going against what the jury recommended. The mob got restless. In my final case, Louis XVI was in my court. Or in this game, he is Citizen Louis Capet (proof the French had a real sense of humor at one time. They essentially lost it when they fell in love with Jerry Lewis movies). We all know what happened in history, so out of curiousity, I decided to acquit Louis 16. And guess who lost their head instead??? So I guess I'll start my second playthrough tonight... Popular Post Together_Comic
Day 1 Thoughts: So I've played a few hours of this game The story revolves around a war that was fought long ago when the big bad let loose a monster. Your father has gone to slay that monster and leaves you in the care of a hermit on an island. After being awoken by your dead mother's pendant (the Chekhoviest guns to ever Chekhov if I've ever seen one) you decide the time has come for you to follow in the footsteps of your old man and set off to find him and help slay the monster Oceanhorn. The old hermit sends you off to find the three mcguffin circles of power and your quest begins. The game directs you with your father's notebook and as soon as you land on an island, the notebook will give a little context about what you should be looking out for on the particular island. For example, on the first town island you visit, it tells you to get directions and move on. That town directs you to bomb island, where you can probably guess you can find bombs. The path to which lead you to a note in a bottle from someone asking you to help save them on some island which turns out to be a member of a race holding one of the mcguffins who then directs you to said mcguffin etc. The game doesn't exactly lead you by the hand, but isn't obtuse either. It gives you an overarching goal, but doesn't really tell you how to get along about it. Their aren't any map markers either other than a compass style thing showing you where chests are. I like this approach and pattern. The gameplay is solidly legend of zelda style. You have a hearts health bar, a magic meter, they even bit the whole heart container thing. You traverse areas in the Mario and Zelda biomes (forest, mountain, ocean, desert, spooks, etc). You do some fighty bits and some puzzly bits, in order to get keys that unlock doors, and find the big key, which opens the big chest and the boss door. The influence is clear. However, Zelda's great so borrowing the formula doesn't feel awful, and they do add enough things to keep it its own thing. The magic spells in particular play very differently. Casting one pauses time and allows you to select a target and then fires, almost in a jrpg turn based sort of way. The game also has a level up system. You gain xp from defeating enemies, doing certain challenges (more on that in a sec), fishing, completing quests, etc. The levels in turn allow you to do anything from gain coins to consume less stamina or magic, to increasing your bomb and arrow capacity. The challenges are allow you to get bonus experience for doing things like reading signs or swimming a certain distance. They also double for many of the trophies of the game so that's kind of nice. If I had some complaints the story and characters aren't super deep or anything so far, but they are interesting enough and allow you to get invested such that I'm still interested in what's going on in the game and haven't resorted to turning on a podcast and ignoring it. The game is easy, but then again so is zelda mostly so eh. And it seems like the game is going to be very short. In the few hours that I've played I've gathered 2 of the mcguffins and the sword upgrade, and unless they truly do the zelda thing where 3 mcguffins turn into 8 or 9 then I think I'll probably be able to finish the game in the 5 days I have with it during this event (probably not the platinum though ). On the whole, I like it so far. We'll have to see how it plays out. Also @voodoo_eyes (PS4)
Popular Post Kevvik
And the Vita journey begins... Game #1: Cosmic Star Heroine Initial Impressions Time played: 7 hrs So it's been a pretty laid back day with the holiday here in the Great White North so I've been relaxing with lots of Vita time today. Cosmic Star Heroine is a relaxing turn-based RPG inspired by old SNES style graphics and cut-images during storytelling. You play Alyssa, a secret agent working for the API. After a tutorial mission where you learn the basics, you obtain a secret artifact and bring it back to the main HQ. After that you find out your boss wants to use it for mind control of the populace. With a few of your compatriots, you steal it and seek out the resistance so that you can try to put an end to your old boss's plans. While there is the usual twisted path, this is the gist so far. Fairly vanilla fare. Nothing spectacular. This pretty much sums everything so far. The fighting is serviceable but nothing really new. You have skills you can use once (a few that are infinite) which recharge when you rest in battle. You buy new gear and shields as you go. Each character has a theme to their weaponry/battle style. No random encounters, enemies are all visible on the play field and your health refills between battles. I'm enjoying the game well enough but I'm pretty sure once I'm finished it, it won't last in my memory long. An okay game so far but nothing special. Trophies earned: 17/34, 28% for D rank Score so far: 5/10

Popular Post DamagingRob
Hollow Knight, Day 1: A day in the life of a hollow... before Ichigo shows up with his Bankai and ends its poor existence. Okay, it has nothing to do with Bleach. But that is all I can think of from the term "hollow." I don't know if it's really going to have much of a story. Other hollows you can talk to add a bit to the lore of the world, but that's about it. I'm getting some Bloodborne impressions, despite them being from different genres. One a metroidvania with alright graphics, and the other a huge open world RPG with bigger budget graphics. If you die, you lose all the money you're currently holding. But it's not "gone for good." Just like Bloodborne's blood echoes, you can get them back by returning to the place you died. Though in this game's case, it is slightly different. You have to fight and kill a shadow version of yourself (who isn't hard to beat), and then you'll get all your money back. Challenging combat and platforming might also be reminding me of it. Combat is interesting and fun. You'll have to learn enemies attack patterns to avoid getting hit, and know when to strike. You have an energy bar that fills with each successful hit, which allows you to heal yourself and fire projectiles at enemies. And various accessories can be equipped that provide helpful benefits. Some break when you die, though.. Platforming can be tough, at times, too. Requiring wall jumping, dashing from one wall to another, and avoiding spikes on the walls. And if you run out of health, it's back to wherever the last save point was. It's probably not as tough as I make it sound. Beating the game is something nearly 30% of PSNP owners have done, after all. So far, it's not frustratingly difficult, but that will probably change. I should have no problem beating the game, though. After that, well... we'll see. But it's a cool game. Time played: 5 hours Trophy progress: 5/35 for 7% and an E rank.
