AJ_Radio
23 hours ago, Copanele said: No. 148: One Finger Death Punch 2 Platinum Name: Master Smasher Hardest Trophy: King of the Hill unlock level 8 in survival Difficulty: 4.5/10 Personal Impression: 4000 years of Kung Fu history/10 Ever watched old Chinese Kung Fu movies? The ancient ones where 2 angry Kung Fu masters swear to revenge one on each other then start flying and kicking each other with the best sound effects ever created? Ever dreamed that you could be one of those masters, fully utilizing Crane kick, or perhaps Viper style, or even Mantis mode? Flying around, channeling your chi, yelling Yatta Kawaii or other cultured words while defeating tons of evildoers with your magic chackra infused fists? Well, if you dreamed of all that on a regular basis...you're probably a bit weird. Ah also One Finger Death Punch 2 is definitely for you. But what is OFDP2(that's the abbreviation, I won't write that name again)? Why am I spouting all this Chinese nonsense and sharing gifs like I snorted some of Grandma's flour spread over a cat's belly? Well, OFDP2 is the next best martial arts game after OFDP1 and Jade Empire. And probably Karateka. And...Street Fighter. Anyway it's a 2D stick figure fighting/rhythm game where you defeat waves after waves of angry stick figures with your kung fu moves. That's it, that's all the premise. You have 2 buttons, square for left and circle for right, an area where the enemy stick figures become vulnerable, press the right button (or the left button lel) to karate chop the living shit out of them. All at the press of one button. The game looks deceptively simple at first. You go through a tutorial of sorts where the announcer (an old wise Kung Fu man) will slowly guide you through the mechanics of the game and the type of enemies. Some enemies are ranged users. Some require more hits to kill. Some swap places after hitting them. And some are so nasty that you enter into a special minigame with them. You have 10 lives per level and you must absolutely follow this rule no matter what: DO NOT MASH. The game will detect it and penalize (and mock) you. You would not want to disappoint your master, would you? Anyway after you are done with the tutorial, the wise master is seemingly pleased with you and boots you out of the school in order to impress the world with your Kung Fu. There are 8 areas to be conquered with your impressive skills, each having lots of levels and bringing separate challenges. The levels themselves are quite diverse. The regular brawl levels are the basic punch and kick until you're the only one left standing. In the "ball of death" levels, you must kick a ball into the poor enemies. Some levels require you to do x kills with a chainsaw, or with a lightsaber, or execute enemies in various traps. Yeah...the game is not all kung fu and sunshine Some levels may reward you with Revenge Tokens and Upgrade Points. Revenge tokens are special items that regenerate your life if you find a level too tough to beat. Just pop one of those and your HP will refill constantly during fights. Upgrade Points can be used to purchase various skills such as health, auto chainsaw summon, meteors, one hit kill karate chops and more. They're not required for your playthroughs but THEY DO HELP! Now, normally the game is not that difficult. At least in the beginning. But do not be fooled by the platinum rarity. It's not that easy either. Final map can be a real headache to defeat, since you have tons of waves of enemies, especially in the last level. It's best to save your Revenge Tokens here to quickly blitz through it. And well, the survival mode, while pretty basic, requires you to defeat a certain number of enemies for one floor, then that same amount +200 more for the next floor unlock. You have to kill 1400 enemies to promote from floor 7 to floor 8, which is straight up impossible if you haven't levelled yourself up. The game has other minigames but they are mostly stupid and disgusting so I will skip them. CONCLUSION: If you want a dumb and bloody Stick Figures game where you beat the enemies in a way that would make Mortal Kombat blush, while reminiscing the good ol' Kung Fu movies with all the styles, bad lip sync and ka-pows, then this game is for you. It's usually dirt cheap. Warning though, I am not responsible if this game awakens your Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. THE GOOD: - dumb mindless fun game - allowed me to use all these sweet gifs - made me want to rewatch Drunken Master with Jackie Chan - Announcer's "hoooohohoho Peeerrrufect" voice makes me want to do flying kicks THE BAD: - if taken seriously, this game ain't that fun - not nearly as good as OFDP1 - abit too long for its own good - Booger minigame is absolutely disgusting - pretty much won't teach you actual Kung Fu God. I watched all these movies these GIFs borrow from. These Kung Fu movies never get old. Fun fact: I live not too far from Bruce Lee's gravesite in Seattle, Washington.

Popular Post Copanele
No. 149 - Battle Fantasia Platinum Name: Champion of Fantasia Hardest Trophy: You Want Me to WHAT?In single-player arcade mode, on a difficulty higher than NORMAL, survive Deathbringer's Apocalypse Flame attack and win the round with full health. Difficulty: 8/10 Personal impression: 4/10 I think it's pretty obvious that I like fighting games by now. I like the genre, the thrill after inputting a fancy combo, the background of the characters, what motivates them to punch the everliving shit out of each other. Music is also an important factor, I need the groove on when starting a match/tutorial/survival mode/whatever. As a whole, I can say that this is a genre for my own tastes: simple, to the point, tough to master and with good jams. The fact that I would play almost anything also helps, I don't really find many faults in otherwise shitty fighting games, I am a simple man with simple needs. But from time to time there comes a game that pisses me off to such an extent that I can't but stop and wonder "what were they thinking?". A game that annoys you from the Start Screen, with such awful characters, screeching music and bland atmosphere that you actually struggle to find SOMETHING good about it. And well, struggle to actually complete and platinum the game, since we are on a site focused on PS trophies. Well, such game for me is Battle Fantasia, a fighting game oddly developed by Arcsystem Works, known for making quite the good games and franchises like Guilty Gear, Blazblue and Dragon Ball FighterZ. But somewhere in the distant past they also created this .... thing, who came to the future to haunt me. The premise: Battle Fantasia is set in a mythical land with lots of high fantasy influences. You will find knights, dwarves, magical rabbits, cats transformed in waitresses, a spiky kid with a chainsaw that acts as a hoverboard...yeah it's magical alright. Being high fantasy setting, you will hear all the typical sounds that you'd hear in Heroes 3 or Lord of the Rings or whatever turns out if you search "ambiental elven music" on youtube. Especially the BELLS the goddamn chirp chirp bells that sing every time you press X or start a match, which can really get on your nerves. The graphics are...interesting to say the least. Character selection screen and cutscenes are in a "drawing" style, like some old scholar doodled some fantastic characters on a parchment. The in-game 3D models however are either ugly as sin or devoid of any life or personality. The only passable character for me was Watson who is a cute bunny mage. The gameplay is the only decent thing about this game for the most part. It...works and doesn't bring anything new on the table. The characters however...oh god, it's like a menagerie of lunatics there. Playing through the story mode made me realize that the characters in this game are actually complete morons considering the decisions they make and reason they fight. The only reasonable character is again Watson the bunny, who despite being the most powerful archmage in the country he is either largely ignored by the cast, attacked randomly or in danger of becoming rabbit stew. Like what the hell is with the characters in this game? And now for the worst part : the trophies. Boy oh boy is this game a piece of shit when it comes to platinum. After you're done with the online who works whenever it pleases (worst online ever), you should have 4 targets in mind : Score attack, Survival mode, YOU WANT ME TO WHAT???? and Gallery. All of them are awful but only one trophy takes the cake: Score Attack and Survival are pretty basic, just beat a gauntlets of enemies with the most powerful character in the game. Only issue - the AI randomly does a difficulty spike and can utterly kick your ass despite of how good you are. Didn't take too many tries, but it still was a pain in the ass. You want me to WHAT? is a special trophy that is considered to be the platinum blocker for this game. First, your difficulty setting must be set on Hard or Very Hard. Then on Arcade mode, get to the final boss End of Deathbringer, parry his super move consisting of 22 blitz fast hits and kill him without taking damage. Reaching the final boss is one thing, but parrying the entire damn thing was one of the most daunting tasks ever. Fortunately there is a pause exploit that I happily abused, because I suck at rhythm games big time. Whoever did this legit - my respects. However there's only one trophy that can suck the soul out of you : 100% the Gallery. This means completing everything the game has to offer, including the story mode. But this is not an easy feat, because in Story mode you have to lose every single fight first and then win every single fight. For 12 characters. Each character has 2 story paths. You must cover both of them, WITH losses. My actual reaction when doing the entire story: So yeah. This game is the worst fighting game I played on Playstation. Don't play this game. Just don't, it's awful. It will kill your mood and suck your soul. Even finding motivation for this "review"/"checklist"/"impression"/"bucket list" was a task in itself. For me, I was glad when I could finally delete it. Thankfully, Arcsys never did a game this bad again. THE GOOD: - this game made Arcsys realize that 3D models that emulate 2D are the very best - thus Guilty Gear XRd was born - you get a ton of UR from this list - it uninstalls pretty fast THE BAD: - you will hear those blasted bells even after you delete the game - Marco (kid on the poster) is horrible and must die - my motivation to finish the game was Ultra Rare - it's even worse than Injustice 1

Honor_Hand
Not gonna lie, that review gave me a good laugh all the way through. One of the good points of the game being that it can be uninstalled very fast was the culmination of everything you wrote there, lol. All in all, I know this is hardly the best anything ArcSys has ever put out. It may look hideous, it may make you do random shit no one wants to do in a fighting game, but at least the gameplay is passable enough. For that reason alone *coughcoughandcatgirlCoyoricoughcough*, I'm willing to give this one a try. Surely it can't be as bad as everyone is making it out to be...right? Right? Anyone? ? Popular Post Copanele
WARNING - The following post will have Dark Souls 2 boss spoilers You have been warned (also if you hate the series you won't probably care about this post anyway ) Special Completion - Dark Souls II Scholars of the First Sin SL1 Fist Only Run Difficulty Rating: 7.5/10 Enjoyment: Ranges from eating the best pizza in town to playing drums on your kneecaps with a hammer. Hardest boss: Ivory King, the chaddest character in the series This will be a different kind of post, since it has no trophy or platinum achievement. It was mostly a self-imposed challenge of mine in one of my most favorite videogame franchises ever. I managed to defeat every single boss in Dark Souls 2 using only the fists and without levelling up at all. Why I did this: No idea. It was fun AND challenging. I am one of those people who believes that Soulsborne is not a hard franchise IF you pay enough attention to your surroundings(Sekiro not included). It's also one of the most rewarding games to complete by yourself, the game gives a different thrill once you manage to master and defeat an entire area and its boss. Why Dark Souls II though: It's the last game from the franchise that I haven't recorded. I have finished and recorded every other game in the franchise (minus Demon's Souls because PS3 can't record shit, I have a crappy screenshot though ) but for some reason I did not record my initial DS2 SL1 run. Since it was my second run of this "Brilliant" game (I don't enjoy DS2 THAT much) I was thinking heck, let's do this with our fists only. What did I get out of this: A friend called me a complete dumbass for doing this run. Fair enough?. In terms of difficulty...yeah DS2 at SL1 is pretty tough. But not because of challenging bosses, it's actually because the game itself is a dumb mess (in terms of Souls games). Compared to every OTHER SOULSBORNE game, in this thing your vital survival skills are depending on ONE stat : Adaptability. You WANT to roll, drink that healing estus fast, pop a healing gem and whatever else you need to do. But without ADP? You're just an old man with sclerosis and a wooden foot. So yes, this wasn't the most tactical run ever (although not as awful as Bloodborne at Blood Level 4). Thankfully this game also has some of the best items and ideas in the series, which helped me ease off the pain of doing this game at SL1. PREREQUISITES & ITEMS (for those who want to attempt this): Enjoy Dark Souls: Why would you even attempt this if you don't like the games? Know this game like the back of your hand: No really, you can do Dark Souls 1 at SL1 as your first run. Even Dark Souls 3 works. NOT THIS GAME THOUGH! Dark Souls 2 is such a convoluted game you should definitely finish this at least twice to learn some bosses and enemy patterns. Or rather how to "bullshit roll" so you won't get hit by random hitboxes. Silvercat Ring: Pretty much the very first item that you need in the game, in order to even reach the stupid area with the Awestones (required for Vanquisher ring) at SL1. How you get the souls for this bad boy... check how to cheese Dragonrider on youtube. It's fun, I promise Vanquisher's Ring: Some people do this run Fist Only without Vanquisher Ring. Sorry, I don't have that much time on my hands. Anyway Vanquisher's Ring is a reward from Covenant of Champions, which severely increases your bare hand damage. Without this ring you could barely dish out 3 damage or something. An Ancient Dragon fight would take 30 minutes of wailing at his feet (and who wants to even see that?). How you get that ring - check youtube, it's a complex farming thing. Ring of Binding: Every time you die, your health bar shortens by a percentage, at a max of 50%. This ring will reduce the shortening to 25%. Vital in the first part of the game, but soon you will get rid of it. Adaptability Items: Handmaid's Ladle, received by defeating the 2 ogres in Things Betwixt, gives you 2ADP. Peasant's Set from Duke's Dear Tseldora gives you 1ADP per item (you even get to beat up zombie peasants for it, nice!). Simpleton's Ring from the Iron King DLC gives you a whooping 5ADP and makes you invisible when rolling. YOU NEED THESE FOR YOUR RUN. Vessel's Shield: From Ivory King DLC after removing the ice, gives you health, stamina, strength, ADP, whatever you need. Easily the best shield in the game in terms of stats. You won't be able to use it for defending, but if you have it equipped on your back you will still receive the stats. Pretty nice. Mad Warrior's Mask: Farmed from Belfry Sol from the random Mad Warrior invader, you get this Predator looking mask that gives you +1 ADP. This is separate from ADP items because you need to farm this garbage quite a bit. Ring of Blades: Woo boy you need this one. Gives you a damage boost. You get the first version from the Pursuer, the +1 after defeating the Pursuer in Iron Keep (you need to beat Smelter Demon first) and the +2 on NG+ from the Twin Pursuers in the King's Room in Drangleic. To get the +2 ring, make sure you defeat the Throne Watcher &Defender, Nashandra and Aldia first then bonfire ascetic the bonfire. You do NOT want to face those 3 bosses at NG+. Flynn's Ring: Another mad important ring, you get this one from Sunken King DLC. Again, quite of a headache to get your hands on it, but once you do, you get another damage boost. Chloranthy Ring: Increases stamina regen. Perfect for those annoying bosses who keep wailing at you like the Fume Knight. You get the +1 ring from the Shaded Woods (if you want the +2 ring you have to beat the Executioner Chariot in NG+, you won't like that fight. Not required). Brightbugs: They give you +20% damage and +20% defense for some time. You NEED THESE for the last bosses so hold them dear near you until you face the murdering hordes. Elizabeth Mushrooms: Constant life regen for 44 seconds. Best for Smelter Demons and more. (Insert King) Crown: Yep you need to beat all the DLC main bosses and Vendrick to get the crowns. But once you do, oh sweet victory. You won't turn hollow anymore. Also you can get rid of the Ring of Binding. (Optional)Stone Ring: You get it from the very first ogre in Things Betwixt. It staggers opponents when you hit them. Perfect for farming Awestones for Covenant of Champions, pretty useless otherwise. (Optional)Poison Bow&Arrows + a Dagger: In case an area proves to be too much of a piece of garbage (Shrine of Amana lolol), you can use a bow and some poison arrows. Poison is OP in this game. Dagger is again for farming. So once you know where all the items are, it's time to have fun! Surprisingly, after I got the Vanquisher Ring, the first 1/3 of the game was mad easy. That Ring gives you such an absurd increase in damage, enemies drop like flies. Moreover, if I use the Stone ring stagger, most enemies won't even have time to react. That is, if you're not getting ganked. However, this run took me a LONG time to do. There's some areas in this game that...dear god they are NOT for a SL1 run by any means. You can't run from the enemies, can't dodge, you have to carefully pick them up one by one or somehow "sneak" around and PRAY. Lots of Prayers. Iron Keep: Filled with Alonne knights, imagine medieval knights with Samurai swords that are SUPER fast and do unreactable slashes. Right before the Smelter Demon boss fight you are assaulted by 5 or 6 of them at the same time so you have to draw them in a doorway and beat them one by one. This area is so ass even at regular runs, you don't want to attempt it at SL1. Shrine of Amana: The worst area in the main game. What you got is a vast amount of water, lots of crevices everywhere, hidden lurkers that jump at you from underneath the water, sniper mages that can hit you from across the map (that's why you need to play this game 2 times before, so you have a general idea where these fuckers are) and some knights that are 3 times faster than you and can combo you to death. I hate this area with a burning passion, not to mention that it has a crap boss at the end. Ivory King DLC: Eleum Loyce is just MAD DIFFICULT. Lots of ice golems, lots of mages, lots of sonic rabbits that spin after you and just stunlock you, lots of NPC invaders. This is an area that you would normally do it with 2 or 3 party members. At SL1 - Alluring Skulls, knowing the map inside out, prayers. That's the combo. Now for the bosses. There's 41 bosses in this game and most of them are punching bags. DS2 has some of the easiest bosses in the entire series (Only Demon's Souls has easier bosses but yeah that was a prototype). However the ones that are difficult....well they will murder your ass big time. And I mean it. Either via bullshit hitboxes (YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH ADP) or by being just goddamn tough. Not to mention that some runs are a pain in the ass too, even reaching the boss is difficult in itself. But among all these, only 3 stand out as the TRUE run killers: Ivory King(video link) - The true Juggernaut of the game, the most difficult HANDS DOWN! If you find this boss easy then I will bow to you and probably ask you if you are ok. What's difficult about this fight is the fact that you have to get through a gauntlet of the King's Knights. Just the prerequisites of this fight are mind numbing. First, you have to find 3 carefully hidden Loyce Knights in the DLC, they will help you for this fight. THEN after finding them, you will drop in the best arena in the game and face some portals that will spawn Charred Loyce Knights. You have to defeat these guys and seal the portals with your Loyce Knights (they will do it automatically after you beat at least one of those suckers). Only AFTER you defeat the Charred Loyce Knights and seal the portals does the big cheese spawn. And my god he's a powertruck. Ivory King WILL piledrive you, slash you, summon his lightsaber, stab and skewer like the best Khebab Chef in town. I recommend patience, perseverance and not a drop of alcohol in you. You need that focus. Lud & Zallen The King's Pets (video link) - After dealing with the worst area in the entire Souls series Frigid Outskirts (I won't spoil why), you have to face a reskin of a previous boss. 2 Cats. One is easy enough to deal with, but when the first cat has 50% HP left the second one jumps in and oh BOY does this start to get SPICY! The cats do what every cat usually does : slap you with their paws, maul you, summon icicles of doom, AoE blasts, shitty hitboxes. Yep just like a cat. What's worse, after the first cat dies and the second cat reaches 30% HP, she gets enraged : extra damage, constant life regen, everything she does is an one shot. Basically she uses both a Brightbug and an Elizabeth Mushroom on you. I recommend save scumming in this area because my god running through Frigid Outskirts every time is NOT fun. Throne Watcher & Defender (video link) - This is the boss you have to face before Nashandra and Aldia and they are way more difficult than the actual final boss. There's no cheap factor about these 2 fellas, they are just mad difficult to solo at SL1. Throne Watcher is super fast and does lots of hits, Throne Defender is slow but his attacks do mad damage. You have to balance them out, because if one of them dies, the other will revive it after 20 seconds or so. This was the fight that caused the most sweat just because I had to git gud. No tricks, no funsies, just skill. And ADP. Extra funny moment - to see why I keep bashing at the stupid Dark Souls 2 hitboxes, this video is the perfect example. I had high ADP and I still got killed by "ghosts" at this boss. CONCLUSION: This has been quite the enjoyable run that tested my knowledge of the game. I doubt I'll ever do a similar run in Dark Souls 2 ever again, but I ended up enjoying the game more. Also beating iron hulks with your measly punches is strangely fun. THE GOOD: - it's "the final exam" of the Souls series - you can see just how well you know these games - you beat Sir Alonne with a slap to the face - you win the badge of "advanced insane person" - you get promoted from Dark Souls Fan to Dark Souls Enjoyer. Happens EVERY TIME THE BAD: - sanity pills cost quite a bit - you forget about other games - don't rage when your significant other is around - adaptability sucks and Dark Souls 2 is a trash game. I love it. P.S. If you wish to check all my other runs, I have the playlists here. They're decent material if you struggle with a certain boss pattern: Dark Souls SL1 run Dark Souls 2 Fist Only SL1 run Bloodborne BL4 run Bloodborne Gun Only run (Wild Wild West I know) Dark Souls 3 SL1 run

I personally think Sekiro also counts if you never upgrade your health bar/posture bar, just your damage. But also Sekiro is way more straightforward compared to the other Souls games, so that's at the decision of each individual I don't think I will attempt Sekiro though because I didn't enjoy it as much as the other Souls games.
DrBloodmoney
What a run mate - I won't write a whole bunch here, as I've followed along the whole way anyways, but I'll miss the periodic updates on your status update - (felt like they were just for me at a certain point, but then, as the only person in the world to like DSII most out of the three, I guess that's fitting ?) Amazing job - you just achieved ADP+10 ? Now... The Surge Lv.1 run... Edited August 9, 2021 by DrBloodmoney

The Surge Lv.1 run... Many thanks and yeah sadly the status update has run its course now that Sir Alonne has also fallen. Yeah at some point they were mainly for you not gonna lie ? not gonna deprive you from the entertainment of being hit by random cats. For Surge LV1 run, if I end up loving the game I will definitely do it. But it all depends on the game. For instance I would never do a Lords of the Fallen SL1 run. It was painful enough in the regular run.

Every Lords of the Fallen run is a Souls level 1 run - in the sense that that playing that game crushes your own soul down to a nub.
FreshFromThaDeli
Glad you got pain enjoyment out of the self imposed challenge run in Dark Souls 2. Now time to go back to torturing yourself through those awful, repetitive trials in UMVC3 ?

Why are you doing such trash trials Capcom, WHY?

Why are you doing such trash trials Capcom, WHY? I FEEL your pain. Once I'm done with online, I will have to subject myself to doing more of those trials. You are so close, you got this! You can be done this week. Still, I think I'd rather do UMVC3 trials than play through Story mode in Battle Fantasia or heck, play Battle Fantasia ever again.

I think this is the "why can't we just play normal games like regular people" moment ?

This is a pretty amazing accomplishment, especially since you did it for the hell of it rather than a motivation for trophies. Well done man. I’ve got the SOTFS in my PS4 backlog and was wondering what you thought about it compared to the PS3 version? I am really looking forward to replaying this one as I’ve read that they actually changed a whole bunch of stuff and redesigned enemy placements in many areas in the PS4 release. I’ve seen some people say that it almost feels like playing it for the first time again. Is that true? Everyone seems to shit on DS2 but personally it’s one of my favourites. There are a few things like adaptability and soul memory that sucked, but a lot of the other innovations were very cool, and DS2 had the best build variety of all the games imo. A big part of the fun is constantly redesigning your character so you can try different builds and playstyles.
