Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Backlog Challenge

So with @MidnightDragon announcing signups for the next challenge will be 1st Feb the big question is does anyone have anything huge planned for it?

 

For me I am going to be mixing the games from the ABC challenge in with some others that I couldn't fit on that I want to play. Probably start the grinds on big ones like The Witcher as well.

I'm putting together a smaller list. I'll bring over a few from this event that I won't finish and still really want to do. I'll also add some harder ones like Jotun and one or two others that I'm yet to decide. Maybe Volgarr the Viking of Crash Bandicoot (not technically hard, but I suck at platformers and time trials).

I‘ve planning to do the Uncharted collection from PS+ and whatever is free next month (whatever that might be)

Yeah I think I may end up carrying some across, that said most of the ones I started are now too high % to bring with me.

Hmm....I'm not sure. I have the ABC event to work on, so maybe a handful of games from there.

All the games I could do in my backlog are super long JRPGS (Tales games, Persona, Star Ocean) that I bought but haven't even started yet. Most specifically, Star Ocean 4 is something I want to grab the platinum for as a super grindy challenge but I've held off on it cause I'm doing a 100% profile challenge for the completion % event and I don't know if I can finish S04 by the end of the year unless I just play it solely for months lol. 

 

But since I'm going for 100% profile anyway, that means I'll HAVE to wrap up Skyrim, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness and Diablo 3 at some point. I might pitch in the entire Dark Souls series into the Spring Backlog challenge since I'm going through the SoulsBorne type games right now. Got Sekiro platted... will be starting Bloodborne this weekend, so why not challenge myself to clear the log of Dark souls 1, 2 and 3 once the spring event starts? Would be nice motivation. I think, to get these done on time!

I've been taking an hiatus from my list, but still check in on the thread.  I ended up not feeling like playing either Slime Rancher or Graveyard Keeper, which were the games I had left, so working on whatever takes my fancy...currently Dragon Quest Heroes.

 

Looking forward to the Spring challenge though, thinking of a small list though with some sub 30 hour games as I won't have too much time in the upcoming months.

My impression of Watch_Dogs is that it's fun as long as you don't play the story. I'm not sure if it's bad, but I just know that I'm not engaged enough to continue it. The game is just so open that you can do so much at the start of the game. There is normally a reason most of a sandbox is locked off until you beat a certain amount of the game, and that's so you'll play the game. Arkham City had Riddler Trophies, Venom containers, phone booth races, prisoner assaults, and more, but each of those are locked off until you have a certain gadget or area unlocked. Right now, I have all multiplayer trophies and most of the music, hot spots,  and Fixer Contracts, and I'm just on Act 1 Mission 5. According to the progression wheel, I'm 44.6% done. I'm having fun and that's the important part, but I really should not be 44% done with the game.

The books and the DLC are crap, that's all I want to say at this point in time...

 Well looks like I’m finally done with the list!!! It was fun to see if I could actually get this done and I’m so happy for the push to actually get a dent made in my backlog. since I still have a month before the event ends I might add a couple more games just to see how far I can take it. Then I should be going into a break after February to actually get some portfolio work done so I’ll see if I can still sign up for the Spring.

Unfortunately now I’m stuck with not enough cash to able to get the Remind DLC and I’m just sitting here consumed with frustration for the rest of the evening.

Gonna make a smaller list...but will wait until late February to post what exactly since I want to see how much I get done between now and then. Still working on Dragon Age Origins. Will just start with five and go from there.

How to Survive 2: It's coming along nicely. I almost maxed out my camp/character levels (45/50 or is it 45/51) while trying to keep my buildings and some of the skill levels on par (although a couple of them are way behind). I think completing "all quests" and "elite quests" popped early because I still have at least one more quest left to do which is elite. Eventhough it sounds like I'm close to the end, I'm really not. There's a crapload of XP and materials to grind out and while there's an item duping exploit I don't feel like doing that. I think the rest of the game should take me about 2 or so more weeks to complete.

I've played a tiny bit of Borderlands 3 with a friend, it seems to be working better now so I am hoping to get a bunch of hours in it now!

Today is also the last day of an event in Apex Legends so I might finally be able to put it aside for a bit and play some other games, haha. I am having way too much fun in it!

 

Still no patch in Graveyard Keeper, not sure what to do with it really. I am not feeling the urge to restart the game and try again to see if I can get the bug to not happen.

The 10th anniversary of my first platinum (Assassin's Creed II) will happen during the event. I'll aim to platinum the PS4 version on that same day, 10 years later. I'll probably start it on the same day I started it way back then as well, think it'd be pretty cool.

 

I was also thinking I could trophy whore my way to 199 platinum's and have it be my 200th platinum so they'd both be in my milestones, but I still want to make Metal Gear Solid 2 #200 (The only MGS I've left to finish excluding stacks) so I think I'll pass..

Monday update from me! With Platinum # 134 - Pillars of Eternity. I've said quite a bit about it in some of my older posts, but I loved this to bits. Not only did it hit me in the nostalgia feels, but it's also a pretty great game to boot. It's not everyone's cup of tea though but for me, it was a blast to play. My timing was pretty spot on too as the PS4 port of the sequel is coming out tomorrow - my body is 100% ready for more PoE and i can't wait to jump back in.

 

In the interim, I made a start on Subnautica which was a complete surprise for me as I let it pass me by when it originally came out thinking it wasn't what i'd be into, more on that though once i've had some more time with it

Update time for my prolonged weekend:

 

I haven't played much of Assassins Creed 3 last week after finishing Revelations, because of some trainings at work and some unnecessary tension in my relationship.

But!

During the weekend I've finished 54% of the DNA

• Completed the first 8 sequences 100% mostly first or second try - the optional stuff is actually quite easy if you're a bit bold
• Nearly done with the homestead
