Information about getting 100% on ESO

With every lengthy 100% comes lengthy questions about what it takes to 100% the game. This thread is here as an FAQ regarding The Elder Scrolls Online and achieving 100% of the trophies. It will be updated to accommodate for significant changes to the game and can also act as an "ask me anything" thread for the game if the question is not answered within the thread itself. This video by Dottz Gaming is a beginner guide and covers all the information regarding the game world and explains the terminology I use in clear detail, so it is absolutely worth checking out, regardless of it taking 3 hours to watch it is 3 hours of pure information regarding the game and saves my fingers from explaining something that a video summarizes better than text ever could. Now the difference between that 3 hour video and what I say in this thread simply comes down to trophy efficiency, his guide is aimed at the general population of ESO, while this thread will inform you about how a lot of the information can specifically benefit trophies for this game. I will immediately mention that the least expensive way to purchase all the content required for the game at this current time is to purchase the Blackwood Expansion on the PSN store and get yourself an ESO Plus Membership, ESO Plus includes all of the previously released DLC packs and works on a subscription model which requires you to pay a monthly fee or pay every 3 months, 6 months or 12 months, that is down to personal preference. It is worth noting that all of your purchases on the game are tied to the purchasing account, meaning that none of the DLC can be game shared whatsoever and will only be compatible with the account that you bought it on. Also, the retail copies of any expansions for the game come with the full game and a code that you redeem to get the game's expansion, if you buy a used copy then the code in the box probably won't work. The difference between buying the game digitally and buying the game physically is that the digital version comes with the Morrowind expansion and the Warden class, whereas a standard retail copy does not include these things, however an ESO+ subscription will cover you for Morrowind and I have never personally played as a Warden so the class isn't going to be necessary on your journey to 100% of the trophies.

 

One of the big questions someone may have before wanting to buy this game is: is the game pay to win?

Answer: For the most part, no it isn't. Any "pay to win" elements are normally pay for convenience, such as being able to buy mount speed, stamina and carry capacity, because having max mount speed will allow you to traverse Tamriel's zones much faster than no upgrade. Almost everything that could be deemed "pay to win" can also be bought with in-game gold from guild traders, such as potions, poisons and XP boosts. None of the gear on this game is sold on the crown store, the only place where pay to win could truly apply would be in below level 50 PvP, because people with already maxed out characters can buy back their maxed out guild skill lines such as Undaunted, Mages Guild and Fighter's Guild, skill lines you'd likely not hit the max level in before you hit level 50 on your character. You can buy research time reductions from the crown store, which will allow you to research traits on gear faster, but you can also have that same gear crafted for you by someone else who has already done all that trait research. Basically, nothing that pertains to the end game is pay to win, the most important things aren't available to you on the crown store. I do recommend people regardless of whether they only want the platinum and never want to play DLC to still purchase ESO Plus, because the quality of life improvements it offers are necessary if you don't want to get a headache trying to manage materials in your inventory. The craft bag that ESO Plus includes allows you to keep all of your crafting materials separate from the rest of your inventory and the add-on has infinite space, without it your inventory will surely fill up too quickly.

 

I will say that the passion from a person absolutely has to be there for them to end up getting 100% on this game, if the game is not for you and you don't enjoy it, I don't know how you'll really push yourself to put in the time to 100% it. I wouldn't have started this game if it didn't appeal to me in some way, now I'm glad I started it as I will say it is the best RPG I have ever played with the best map I've ever explored in an open world game... For anyone who enjoys RPGs I couldn't recommend this game more. The game took me over 1000 hours to 100%, but with the quickest route I would say it can be done in 600-800 hours. If you want to cut your time down for the 100%, there are key times of the year where it is best to start this game, those times of the year benefit from the fact that they include a double XP event, which lowers the amount of time it takes for you to level up your character, you must meet various champion point levels to make the content manageable, so getting that head start is beneficial in the long run. The best months to start are below, with the name of the event you should be looking out for:

 

• March: Jester's Festival, normally runs for around 2 weeks and requires you to use the "Pie of Misrule" memento to activate your double XP buff.
• April: Anniversary Event, lasts for a couple of weeks and grants you double XP for spawning and eating a cake.
• October: Witches Festival, using the "Witchmother's Cauldron" memento during this event will give you double XP.
• December: New Life Festival, consuming the "Breda's Bottomless Mead Mug" memento during this event grants you double XP.

 

All of the aforementioned events tend to require you to complete an initiation quest, which is often featured on the front page of the crown store and freely available to you. The game has frequent events throughout the year, but in regards to trophies, the above events benefit you the most because of the double XP.

 

I have no current plans to make a full and published trophy guide on this website, as I feel that this thread will suffice regarding information people may need for the trophies they endure.

 

Below is a breakdown of everything that makes this game into the longest grind I have ever endured specifically for trophies:

 

• Achieving a minimum level of Champion 300 to access DLC Veteran Dungeons, you must first become level 50 to unlock the champion point system
• Collecting all 319 Skyshards from the base game
• Becoming the Emperor in a Cyrodiil Campaign
• Catching all the rare fish in base game zones of Tamriel (207 total)
• Completing approximately 1000 quests across all base game and DLC zones, completing the zone story in each DLC zone, completing the base game's main quest line
• Defeating every delve boss on the game and discovering every striking locale in the base game
• Defeating every public dungeon champion in the base game zones and every DLC public dungeon group event boss
• Defeating every world boss in DLC zones
• Researching all 9 Jewelry Crafting traits
• Completing 50 Abyssal Geysers in Summerset
• Completing every Dark Anchor in the base game and defeating every Molag Bal general who can spawn in them (RNG based)
• Getting all the stupid DLC specific collectables (you'll know what they are just by looking at the trophies in the respective DLC pack)
• Killing all the patrolling horrors in the Imperial City
• All the miscellaneous difficult dungeon specific trophies from the dungeon DLC packs
• Flawless Sacrament
• Getting the gear and practicing to become efficient enough to complete Veteran Maelstrom Arena
• Master Antiquarian on the Additional Expansions trophy list

 

The above list isn't the only grindy shit on this game unfortunately. To have a chance in hell achieving this 100% there is additional grinding you must endure that is not specific to trophies, but will make your life easier if you consider doing it.

 

The first most important thing is to achieve level 50 in every type of crafting on the game, there are 7 types, they are as follows, every crafting type will have a link to a guide helping you to achieve level 50 in that type of crafting:

 

1. Alchemy
2. Blacksmithing
3. Clothing
4. Enchanting
5. Jewelry
6. Provisioning
7. Woodworking

 

Before I talk about crafting further, I will say that to be an efficient crafter on this game, ESO Plus is absolutely a requirement, without it you will not have any control over management of crafting materials... If you never intend to subscribe to ESO Plus, you should never intend to be a crafter because your inventory would never allow for the management of the materials. The craft bag is exclusive to ESO Plus and gives you infinite space to store all crafting materials, while keeping them on hand at all times for use in every crafting station.

 

Keep in mind that to access Jewelry crafting you must own the Summerset DLC. Now, you may be asking "why is it important to level each type of crafting to 50?" and the answer to the question is answered with a brief summary below

 

• Alchemy: the "Medicinal Use" passive skill makes potions last 30% longer, the highest level potions you use can gain a 100% up time when you have this skill maxed out, as the potion without any passive skills lasts around 36 seconds with a 45 second cooldown, but with this passive maxed out your potion will last 47 seconds with a 45 second cooldown, meaning as soon as one potion runs out, the next one will be ready for use.
• Provisioning: the "Brewer" and "Connoisseur" passive skills add 20 minutes of time to your buff food and drink duration's, allowing you to make the most of your time having the item active. 
• Blacksmithing, Clothing, Jewelry and Woodworking all require less of the legendary improvement item to increase the quality of your gear when you max out the respective passive skills pertaining to that. Having the first passive maxed out in all of those skill lines will make all the nodes in the open world drop the highest level of material you can use in that crafting type e.g. Ancestor Silk being a pick-up in the open world rather than the Jute.
• Enchanting glyphs are a lot cheaper to make yourself than to buy from guild traders for gold.
• Every crafting type except jewelry has a hireling passive, the hireling is free daily crafting materials that are sent to you in the mail, passively giving you the materials you need to improve gear.
• When you pursue crafting writs and gain surveys, the surveys will contain the highest level of crafting material that you have unlocked based on your passive skills in that crafting type.
• There is a passive skill in each of the following crafting types: Blacksmithing, Clothing, Jewelry & Woodworking that reduces the amount of time it takes to research traits for your gear, you must research traits in order to unlock the ability to craft various sets on the game.
• Getting each crafting type to 50 is required for the game to allow you to use the highest level of material in that type of crafting.
• There are passive skills in Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking that allow you to research the trait on 3 items at the same time.
• When you refine a raw material and have the expertise passive maxed out in that skill line, you increase your chances of extracting a legendary gear improvement material.
• In Alchemy and Provisioning there are passive skills that allow you to craft 4 of the same buff food, drink and potion in their respective skill lines with only 1 set of the ingredients and in alchemy you can craft 16 poisons with 1 set of ingredients with the passive skills maxed out.
• In all types of crafting is a "Keen Eye" passive skill, having at least 1 point invested into this passive makes material nodes light up when you pass by them, giving you better indication of important items you can collect for crafting.
• You will be able to craft yourself Essence of Invisibility, which can be used in the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild DLCs for stealth aspects of the game, having level 50 in Alchemy will allow you to make the potions that turn you invisible for 16 seconds, whereas a low level version of the potion would only last 3 seconds.

 

A thing I wish I was doing that I recommend everyone else to do is always research traits on gear pieces, you never know when a crafted set might come in handy and you will be able to provide yourself with the gear rather than waiting for other people to be online and available to do it for you. For armor I recommend your first researched traits to always be Divines or Infused, most builds recommend one or the other on the armor pieces and to transmute gear to a trait you must have researched the trait on that piece of gear yourself. For weapons: Precise, Sharpened, Infused and Nirnhoned tend to be the most important and in some cases the Charged and Powered traits also help out, Powered specifically on a restoration staff is very important.

 

As a trophy hunter, I always tend to look for the easiest way to achieve the trophies, in the case of this game I never did it the easiest way possible because I started it with two other people who also needed to fulfill the roles in a group dungeon. In a group dungeon, the optimal setup for it is to have 2 damage dealers, 1 healer and 1 tank. The easiest role when it comes to acquisition of the gear and simplicity of the skills would be healing, but only if the people you are playing with have prior experience of the dungeon you are playing, if you are doing it with a group of inexperienced players and learning together, your role as a healer will put a lot of pressure on you... Below are the benefits of being a healer for trophies compared to other roles, healing for trophies will require you to be the Templar class and the recommended races to use would be Breton, Dark Elf or High Elf:

 

1. Your gear doesn't have to be optimal, I myself used Mother's Sorrow combined with Auroran's Thunder and the Sentinel of Rkugamz Monster set, only my monster set is considered meta gear for a healer, the other sets benefited from item bonuses that helped with magicka, you can only be a healer on a magicka class. It was only before I did the Frostvault dungeon (toughest dungeon on the game as I type this) that I needed a gear change, I swapped my Mother's Sorrow weapons and jewelry for Kagrenac's Hope, which is a gear set that requires 8 traits to be researched in order to craft it. The tank who was in my group was conveniently a person who researched all traits on all gear and was able to craft it for me.
2. Nobody tends to look down on you for being bad at your role as long as the skills you cast are visible on the screen to everyone else, the people with you have their lack of knowledge with the mechanics to blame for their failures more than the healer being able to heal them. A healer can't exactly stop a 1 hit kill mechanic from killing you.
3. You can sit in the back and do healing skills on other people in the group, you don't need to put yourself deep into the action.
4. No rotation required, just knowing which skills are on your bar is enough.
5. Using crafted gear and overland sets allow you to essentially choose which trait the gear piece has by specifically using the search filters in a guild trader to find that specific gear set with that specific trait, meaning that you will not be required to transmute gear as often as people who play as the other roles.
6. You don't need to make the gear legendary quality, if you simply make all your body pieces and weapons purple quality and your jewelry blue then that will be good enough for all trophy content.

 

The two sets I would recommend a trophy hunting healer to use are: Kagrenac's Hope (8 trait crafted set) and Armor of the Seducer (3 trait crafted set), considering even with the crafting passives for research time maxed out, Kagrenac's Hope would take approximately 40 days per piece to research all traits, it is recommended to ask a master crafter to craft it for you. You can seek them out by joining any guilds on the game that have over 200 members and there's no shortage of guilds in the finder that have more than that... Or you can ask in the zone chat for help, the community I have met has been friendly and helpful for the most part and I doubt it would be any different for you, but when you ask someone to craft gear for you, they will likely want you to send them the materials that make the gear instead of burning their materials for free. Armor of the Seducer is a set that only requires you to learn 3 traits to craft the gear yourself, which takes only 28 hours of waiting per gear piece to be ready for, assuming you have all the research time passives maxed out. The reason I recommend these two sets are as follows: Kagrenac's Hope has a bonus which reduces the amount of time it takes to resurrect an ally by 25%, Armor of the Seducer has good passive skills that add Magicka recovery to your character. I will say that the key phrase about this gear is "trophy hunting healer", it is inefficient for the true end game, it will simply serve the purpose of being viable for every group specific trophy you wish to endure on the game. As far as a monster set is concerned, you can literally use any monster set you want, simply use the first ever undaunted pledge key you get to buy a "Mystery Coffer" from one of the undaunted pledge master's, then complete the corresponding veteran dungeon that gives you the head piece for that monster set. Ideally you'll want your monster set to be Sentinel of Rkugamz or Bogdan the Nightflame. In those cases, use your key with Maj al-Ragath. The recommended way you should wear the gear is to use a Kagrenac's Hope lightning staff, Kagrenac's Hope restoration staff, Kagrenac's Hope Necklace and Two rings and have 5 pieces of light armor in the Armor of the Seducer set, do not use a shoulder and head piece for that set, monster sets make for the best head and shoulder armor, you will want your monster set to have 1 medium piece and 1 heavy piece, as this gives you the opportunity to use both medium and heavy armor passive skills that benefit you significantly. It is also recommended to use Magicka Enchants on the armor, with the divines trait on the armor, it is also recommended to use the Arcane trait on the jewelry with Magicka Recovery enchants and finally use the Atronach Mundus stone.

 

Although you will not be following the exact gear setup from Alcast's build, you can still follow all the passive skills and champion point setups he uses, on top of the specific skills he recommends. The gear I recommended in the previous paragraph simply eliminates your need to grind gear whatsoever by instead having it crafted for you... You will need to provide a crafter with the materials they use in order for them to craft the gear for you, but in a guild trader each material can be found for a reasonable price. I will add that the above setup will only work in groups that carry you with the dungeons to the point where they don't care what sets you are running. If you want to make life easier on your group, you will need sets that buff your group. The meta sets for healing at the time of writing this are currently the Vestment of Olorime set paired with Jorvuld's Guidance and the Sentinel of Rkugamz monster set. Olorime places a circle on the ground that damage dealers can step into for extra weapon and spell damage, Jorvuld's Guidance buffs the length of all buffs that you apply to your group and Sentinel of Rkugamz places a spider on the ground that people can stand in for extra magicka and stamina recovery as well as healing over time. People will accept you as a healer in all content if you specify that you are using those sets. You can grind Olorime in the Cloudrest trial of Summerset and Jorvuld's Guidance in Scalecaller Peak in the Dragon Bones DLC. All of the aforementioned meta sets can be acquired on normal difficulty, but Veteran Cloudrest +1 can drop the "Perfect Vestment of Olorime" set, which increases your total magicka by over 1000 compared to the non-perfected version, however this stat difference is incredibly minor and not worth the extra effort to grind for. 

 

When it comes to gear, you should only start to care about it when your character has achieved level 50 and earned over 160 champion points, that is when the gear stops scaling, meaning that you will not out-level gear anymore past that point. Prior to that, your goal should be to level to champion 160 as soon as possible, the easiest (but not shortest) way to do that is to level up by going to Alik'r Desert, from there you type "LFGD" in the zone chat to be invited to a dolmen group, in the dolmen group you only have to follow the crown icon to every single dolmen and stand there to reap the rewards. Getting champion 160 solely with the dolmens will take you a long time (around 30 hours), but at least you'll very likely get the General Executioner trophy naturally along the way as long as you land a hit on the boss that spawns. I recommend getting to Champion 160 as soon as possible, which goes against other guides that will often tell you to quest to level up. The reason I recommend against questing early on is because during quests you often get gear that is part of some good sets, gear that drops for you will always drop at your level, some of the most expensive gear items on the game can be quest rewards and if you do the quests in Wrothgar too early for instance, you'll likely get a low level version of the Briarheart Dagger (Matierre's Bodkin), whereas the champion 160 version sells frequently in guild traders for over 30,000 Gold.

 

In regards to Emperor, I answered a lot of the questions for it in this thread... but my personal recommendation for anyone reading this and thinking about starting the game is to not try to get Emperor in your first week, play the game and earn most of the other trophies first, by then you will likely have enough knowledge of the game to tackle the trophy. You can only get Emperor early on this game if you have the help of more experienced players who can craft you gear and continuously take resources with you, whereas with knowledge of how your class works and gear, you could solo your way to a higher AP score without needing to rely on a lot of help from others. You're going to have a much more stressful time being inexperienced with the game and trying to go for Emperor immediately. I will use this small paragraph to tell you that your alliance choice does not matter for this game when you attempt to go for 100% of the trophies, every alliance can get you your Emperorship and thanks to the One Tamriel update you can travel to any zone on the game and group up with any person who is a part of another alliance outside of PvP zones.

Although dungeons for the game are 4 player co-op, I recommend against starting this game with 3 friends who all intend to get the trophies themselves. The more people you start with, the more you'll have to grind to help them get the gear and other parts of the game done. I did this game with two other friends, who started with me and we had great fun and intend to continue playing together for the foreseeable future. I recommend starting with 1-2 friends with people in your group fulfilling the damage dealer and healer roles, I recommend leaving tanking to people on the game who have a lot of experience with that role specifically. If a trophy hunting tank is in your group, expect to spend a lot more time grinding to help them get their gear, as the gear a tank could get is completely different to the gear a healer or damage dealer needs and will require you to play different content to get them what they need for their build. If you started on your own, you will need the help of an already established guild for most of the misc dungeon trophies, the best way to find a guild would be through the in-game guild finder, which can be found in the "Social" menu. Most guilds do require you to be a minimum champion level before joining, so don't expect to join a guild the moment you've completed the tutorial, because you won't be accepted when you can't help people with their end game goals in the near future.

 

If you want to be a tank, the superior class to use is whatever class you want, but typically the top 3 would be Dragonknight, Warden and Necromancer. It is down to personal preference which build you would like to follow, but in my opinion I recommend checking out NefasQS and The Tank Club website for all tank related information. If you don't want to struggle with this game a lot, I feel that you should avoid being a tank if you want to work on the trophies for this game, unless of course you are a genuine MMO fan who has been a tank in other games and wants to try it out in ESO. The issue with tanking on this game is the importance of the tank's survivability... If the tank dies during a boss fight, normally the other players won't be able to resist the mechanics well enough to revive the tank, as the bosses tend to stun you or hit you with attacks that knock you out of the revive animation. Kagrenac's Hope on the healer will give you more chance of rescuing a dead tank in an attempt.

 

For damage dealing, there are many options when it comes to successful builds that can get you through the trophies. @Darkette successfully did everything on this game with the "Easy Sorc" build that Xynode has made, the build is heavily focused on AoE damage with high heavy attack damage, the rotation includes heavy attacks so restoring your resources won't be an issue in that case. The issue I find with Easy Sorc is that it is not meta gear for magicka DPS, meaning that if something ever goes terribly wrong with that build in the future, the gear will likely be useless in other places meaning you'd need to grind for new gear from scratch. However, the build gets updated almost immediately when the game gets a new patch and has kept the same gear sets for a long time now, so I feel it'll last a good amount of time before needing a full revamp. Aexzia was my other partner and was initially going for the Easy Sorc build with Darkette, however they later decided to get into a stamina sorcerer build, the reason for this is a unique one as we all completed Veteran Maelstrom Arena and their first ever Maelstrom weapon was the bow. The Maelstrom bow remains the best bow on the game for AoE damage and Aexzia also chose the Wood Elf race in the beginning for cosmetic purposes, but it worked out well for a stamina swap due to the Wood Elf having passive skills tied to stamina total and recovery. The build Aexzia used was Alcast's gear 2 setup on the Stamina Sorcerer. I have personally now done all the difficult trophy content as a healer and as a damage dealer, during the Scalebreaker patch I helped one of my friends with all of the difficult dungeons as a Magicka Templar. My gear setup was situational, with various gear equipped for certain situations. I had prior knowledge of the dungeons when I decided to be a damage dealer in them, so I knew which gear to bring to it. If the boss fight was single target then I would use the Spell Strategist set combined with Mother's Sorrow and my monster set was Zaan, the reason being that Spell Strategist's 5th bonus increases your spell damage by 500 against the target who was hit by your most recent light attack and Mother's Sorrow increased my chance of damage being critical hits, at the time I followed Alcast's Magicka Templar build and allocated my CP according to his build, as well as used the same skill bar and rotation. In situations where a lot of enemies spawned, I used False God's Devotion (non-perfected), because I would get magicka back from every enemy that died which helped significantly when it came to sustaining my magicka total and alongside it I used Zaan and Mother's Sorrow. Aside from the 5 piece sets and monster set, I also had a Maelstrom Inferno Staff on my back bar, in the past that inferno staff used to require veteran runs of Maelstrom Arena, now it can be done on normal difficulty which is very simple, the difference between the Normal and Veteran versions of the weapon are miniscule so I recommend farming it on normal until you get it. 

 

If you want a meta build that will likely not be outdated, then Alcast's website has a build for every class in every role... Alcast most certainly has the most updated guides out there and the builds are used by people of all skill levels. Typically the Gear 2 setup can be used from his builds to handle all trophy content, however Gear 1 is always better, a thing worth noting about following his Gear 1 setup is that the trial gear can be acquired on Normal difficulty. Veteran trials on the game will drop the "Perfected" trial gear, however the non-perfected version of that gear only loses one bonus most of the time, if the gear is magicka based, the difference between perfected and non-perfected trial gear is an additional 1096 max magicka and if the gear is stamina based the difference is often that the perfected version includes a 1096 max stamina bonus. A good gear setup that isn't too advanced to use in my opinion would be using False God's Devotion (inferno staff + jewelry) combined with Mother's Sorrow (body pieces), I would recommend also using 7 pieces of light armor as a magicka damage dealer to help with spell penetration and magicka recovery/cost of abilities. If you want to grind trials for gear, you must have 12 people to play with, however this game has no shortage of trial groups going on. I recommend going to Craglorn in order to organize any trial groups and I'd consider it the capital city of trial group finding. If you want to grind trials for damage dealing gear, I recommend grinding in Sunspire to get False God's Devotion before anything else as it's the best beginner friendly magicka set for damage. Right now trials have curated RNG drops, meaning that if you bind the gear to your account while playing the trial you're in, the next drop you get won't be a duplicate piece of that gear until everything else from that trial has dropped for you. 

 

If you want to fulfill the damage dealer role, it is recommended to have a monster set that benefits the type of damage that you are doing. To acquire a monster set, you must complete Undaunted Pledges, which are daily dungeon quests that are set by three pledge givers, the pledge givers choose a random dungeon that is associated with them. Two of the pledge givers provide you with a base game dungeon and the third will require you to do a DLC dungeon. Your reward for pledges will be undaunted keys, which can be used to purchase a monster set shoulder piece from one of the pledge givers. The base game dungeons currently remain outdated in terms of their difficulty, so it is highly recommended that you complete those on Veteran Hard Mode, which will award you 2 undaunted keys, then I recommend doing the DLC pledge on normal difficulty for 1 key. The pledges can only be done once per day with your character and if you have multiple characters then that allows you to do the pledges multiple times for extra keys, but depending on which role you are playing the matchmaking can take an incredibly long time to pair you up with groups which can be frustrating when it comes to pledging on more characters than just your main. If you save up 5 undaunted keys, that allows you to purchase a coffer from the pledge giver that improves your chances of getting the piece you want, by giving you a 50% chance of the specific monster set you want. However, the weight of the monster set matters greatly depending on the build you want to follow, stamina builds tend to require all of your armor pieces to be medium which means your monster set shoulder piece also has to be that weight, which means using 5 keys for a coffer will give you a 1/6 chance of getting the correct piece. Magicka builds commonly consist of 7 pieces of light armor or 5 pieces of light armor with 2 pieces of medium armor and stamina builds usually use 7 pieces of medium armor. Using 1 key at a time as opposed to 5 key coffers will give you around a 1 in 40 chance of getting the piece you want, because the RNG will limit you to every single monster set shoulder piece that pledge giver is selling. After you do get your desired shoulder piece, to get the head piece you must complete the dungeon that drops it on veteran difficulty, the final boss always drops head pieces for the monster set of that dungeon, but the weight of the head piece is random, however the RNG of this piece is a lot better than when you need to bet on the shoulder piece. As a reliable monster set option, I'd recommend using 1 piece of Slimecraw and 1 piece of Kra'gh on your head and shoulders, these sets both give you flat damage buffs without requiring you to do something situationally such as stand near a boss to make the most of your damage. However if you're interested in looking at different options for end game builds then this article has you covered.

 

If you wish to grind trials for gear, here is a translation of the typical lingo used in the zone chat when someone is searching for people to join them in a trial group, I will use the following example "Lf 8 dd's, 2 heal, 1 tank nHR", the following statement means "I am looking for 8 damage dealers, 1 tank and 2 healers to complete Normal Hel Ra Citadel". The term "dd" when used to look for groups is simply specifying that they are looking for damage dealers and I would think "heal" and "tank" is self-explanatory when referring to roles in a group. The number of each role varies between trials and various groups have a preference, I recommend joining other people's groups of trials first before attempting to host them yourself, so you can understand the group formula for the trial you are attempting.

 

Below is the abbrevation used for various trials, bear in mind that the letter "N" means normal difficulty and "V" means veteran difficulty, the abbreviation "HM" if used in the zone chat will be to refer to doing the trial on Hard Mode, which is a more difficult way to complete the veteran trial. "+1", "+2+ and "+3" are variations of Asylum Sanctorium or Cloudrest where you can fight the main boss of the trial without fighting the previous bosses, this makes the trial more difficult by instead spawning the other bosses into the final boss room with you, for you to then need to defeat every boss in the trial within the same battle:

• nSS/vSS: Sunspire (Elsweyr DLC required) - Located in Northern Elsweyr
• nHR/vHR: Hel Ra Citadel (Base Game) - Located in Craglorn

• nSO/vSO: Sanctum Ophidia (Base Game) - Located in Craglorn
• nHoF/vHoF: Halls of Fabrication (Morrowind DLC required) - Located in Vvardenfell
• nAS/vAS: Asylum Sanctorium (Clockwork City DLC required) - Located in Clockwork City
• nCR/vCR: Cloudrest (Summerset DLC required) - Located in Summerset
• nKA/vKA: Kyne's Aegis (Greymoor DLC required) - Located in Western Skyrim
• nRG/vRG: Rockgrove (Blackwood DLC required) - Located in Blackwood

 

Gear quality is also important in your pursuit of trophies for this game. The following colours indicate the quality of the gear:

 

• White: Normal
• Green: Fine
• Blue: Superior
• Purple: Epic
• Gold: Legendary

 

All the gear you wear will drop in one of those colours and at the crafting station relevant to the type of gear you are using will be the option to upgrade the quality of the gear. Gear quality affects a lot of different aspects of the gear such as: set bonuses, trait power, enchantment power, armor resistances and weapon damage. The most important gear to upgrade to legendary are your weapons, which will either be in the Blacksmithing or Woodworking profession, you will need 8 Tempering Alloys to upgrade a weapon in Blacksmithing or 8 Rosin to upgrade a Woodworking weapon. Aside from your weapons, you can normally get by with every other piece of gear in your build being Epic quality, because the differences from Epic to Legendary in everything other than your weapons is incredibly minimal. Gear quality is another reason why it is highly recommended to get every crafting type to level 50, because the passive skills increase your chances of harvesting crafting improvement materials, that are used to increase the quality of your gear. The best way to get crafting improvement materials without a lot of effort is to do your Daily Crafting Writs, these are quests that require you to craft an item in each crafting profession and turn it in, which will give you a coffer with random rewards benefiting that type of crafting. You can do your daily writs on multiple characters for multiple materials, but unless you intend to devote a lot of time to the end game of this game, simply doing writs on 1 character will likely be enough. You can bypass the need to grind materials on your own if you buy the materials from guild traders with your gold, however the materials can be incredibly expensive due to the high demand for them in the game's economy.

 

The only difficult solo content on the main trophy list is Maelstrom Arena and you must complete it on Veteran to earn the Maelstrom Arena Conqueror trophy, the rarity of that trophy is highly misleading as I'd say it is a more difficult trophy than a lot of the sub 1-2% trophies on the game, the reason the rarity is so high is because ever since the Orsinium DLC was released and Veteran Maelstrom Arena was introduced, Maelstrom weapons have been considered the best weapon you could have on your back-bar. Due to the importance of the Maelstrom weapons in the best builds, the game's community is very devoted to farming the arena in order to get the right weapon to complete their build. In the past the easiest known way for completing the arena was to follow a 1-bar pet build for the Magicka Sorcerer, initially when I saw that I was pissed off because it would have taken me an incredibly long time to level up a sorcerer and follow the build myself. As I said earlier, I like to go with what is considered easiest for trophies, at least for my first time attempting the trophy. However later on some geniuses found out that being a Werewolf in the arena makes it doable on every single class with any race choice and the setups for Werewolf have been made to include easy to acquire gear that doesn't require any farming. Prior to my discovery of a Werewolf build, I tried the arena with a Magicka Templar and hardly made any progress due to one hit kill mechanics screwing me over, but when I used a Werewolf I had a good time defeating most enemies with ease and being able to resist various mechanics due to the gear I was using. The three of us in our group did our first clear of the arena as a Werewolf and have all achieved the Flawless Conqueror title (no death run of Veteran Maelstrom Arena) since then, with both me and Aexzia doing it with Werewolf and Darkette doing it with the Easy Sorc build. I personally do recommend Werewolf as the easiest way to clear the arena for the first time, however when you get more accustomed to the game and learn how to do more damage with a rotation, Werewolf in VMA will be annoying for you, because your DPS will be low. The Werewolf build is aimed more towards giving you just enough DPS to defeat the enemies of the arena, but giving you high resistances to have the opportunity to ignore a lot of the mechanics that would normally 1 hit kill other gear setups.

 

Aside from Veteran Maelstrom Arena, I would say the most annoying solo content would be the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild DLCs. Although I will also say that those DLCs are quite enjoyable and bring something new to the game. The DLCs utilize stealth mechanics to turn you into a silent assassin or a stealthy thief. In these DLCs, it is very simple to do the stealth as long as you use the Essence of Invisibility potions, which make you invisible for up to 16 seconds. Only the Wardens in stealth areas can see you when you are invisible and they carry a lamp that shows you in plain sight the radius that they can see you. Hiding in barrels during the stealth sections on the game until a warden passes you by and then using an invisibility potion to get through the room is what you'll likely have to do a lot of. The only "difficult" stealth aspects of the game are tied to the following trophies: Flawless Sacrament (Dark Brotherhood) & Master of Shadows (Thieves Guild), both of these trophies are tied to daily quests, with Flawless Sacrament being incredibly RNG based and Thieves Guild simply requiring you to do 1 heist without ever being seen by guards. The requirements of Flawless Sacrament and tips for it are best explained on trueachievements, you need to kill 21 targets with a maximum of 2 targets being doable in 1 quest and the trophy takes a minimum of 15 real days to get because one of the requirements is for doing 15 Sacraments, you can only turn in 1 Sacrament per day. For the Thieves Guild heist, it is incredibly luck based which heist you'll be assigned, normally they consist of you opening 3 chests for loot and one main treasure chest, with those chests you need to make sure nobody is around when you open them with a lock pick, otherwise you've ruined your chances, it is luck based where the chests will spawn and my advice is fairly limited here because your heist will likely be different to the one I got the trophy in, but I will say that the heist I got the trophy in had an archer who was constantly shooting near one of the chests I had to open, so it was impossible for me to open that chest and I had to keep retrying until another chest spawned instead of that one. In the case of a heist or sacrament, if you go to your quest journal, you can abandon the quest tied to it and that will allow you to accept the mission again and retry it, once you have turned in your quest you can't pick another one up on the same day. In the case of a sacrament, you will get a bounty any time you are seen by guards, in order to reset your detection tries you must go somewhere else and lose your bounty completely before you go back into the sacrament. The Master of Shadows trophy will unlock when you reach the exit of the heist you are in, if the trophy hasn't unlocked by then, you can abandon the heist and re-do the whole thing... In a Thieves Guild heist you can't use the Blade of Woe to avoid detection, but you can trip over traps and still get the trophy at the end. For the Hidden Sacrament requirement tied to Flawless Sacrament, you don't have to do the optional steps, you can simply kill the main target without being seen and get the in-game achievement at the exit, then you can abandon the sacrament to re-do it while fulfilling the optional objectives.

 

For dungeons, every mechanic in most boss fights are explained in Xynode's "All About Mechanics" playlist. Before going into a dungeon, it is recommended for all of your group members to watch the video associated with the dungeon you wish to attempt. Everyone in your group will have to know their role quite well in order to complete the dungeons on Veteran difficulty, they aren't something that all your teammates can carry you with. As long as you look like you're trying then your group likely won't get mad at you for failing. It is recommended that before entering a veteran dungeon, you bring as many Grand Repair Kits as possible, they can be purchased on guild traders for a lot cheaper than the in-game merchants sell them, you will probably die a lot initially when you try the dungeons, so having repair kits to fix your gear will be necessary. It should go without saying that you should also have a lot of soul gems on hand to revive your teammates or get yourself up if you die. If you started this game without friends, the best chance you'll have at getting help with veteran dungeons is on a day when that dungeon is an undaunted pledge, within that 3 hour video I linked at the beginning is all the information you need to know about pledging. A downside of attempting to get the trophy in a pledge is that people will often activate hard mode in the final boss fight, because you get 2 pledge keys for that, so you'll probably have to be the first person to take aggro on the boss before anyone can activate the scroll, this will make you look stupid but it's stupid to attempt a trophy on hard mode too.

 

All the miscellaneous boss fight specific trophies in dungeons can be retried if your whole team dies in that boss fight. Trophies like Bloody Mess and Fungi Free may take you multiple attempts, but at least you don't have to play the whole dungeon again from the start to get to that boss fight. Bloody Mess is a surprising trophy rarity for me, because it can be done on Normal difficulty and is at the very beginning of the dungeon, the mechanic that screws you over is random but the boss fight is short if your team has good DPS. Aexzia made the only video for Bloody Mess on YouTube, it at least shows what you can expect from the boss fight. Fungi Free requires you to get to a boss fight on Veteran and never be hit by Fungi, the time you have to react to Fungi isn't a big problem as long as you have the stamina to roll dodge it, the issue is mostly the enemies that can stun you near Fungi, the trophy is half luck, half skill to overcome unless your group DPS is high enough to melt the boss before the mechanic becomes an issue. If anyone in your team dies in the Catacombs during Web Walker then you can allow the boss to kill everyone in the main room to restart the boss fight, deaths that are in the main boss room do not void the trophy, Xynode's playlist linked earlier has a very detailed explanation of the mechanics in that boss fight. Veteran Hard Mode is never required for you to fulfill trophy requirements, so if you ever see a scroll in the same room as the final boss DO NOT ACTIVATE IT, you don't want your lengthy dungeon run to be made significantly more difficult by activating hard mode in a dungeon, which significantly increases the difficulty of the final boss. Activating hard mode in some dungeons will make the effort required to complete it a lot more than it's worth and make you hate yourself for making such a grave mistake.

 

Cooling Your Heels is the most nerve-wracking and difficult miscellaneous trophy for dungeons, the requirement forces you to never get hit by the environmental lava in the Lava Forge part of the dungeon, around 30 of your approximate 40+ minutes in the dungeon is spent inside that location and you have many opportunities to fail it. The Galchobhar boss fight is where you'll struggle the most because the boss will do an AoE on the platform you're fighting him on that instantly kills anyone caught by it. I personally recommend that you allow yourself to die by the AoE if you think you can't jump to the platform quickly enough, it is better to die there and fail the boss fight than to fail the entire trophy and have to start it from scratch. Of course, if you intend to die by the AoE every time, you need to not be playing as the tank in the dungeon, otherwise your teammates will probably not be able to revive you, on top of that if you are playing a different role you must let your team know that you intend to go for Cooling Your Heels and don't want to risk lava damage in that boss fight. Follow this video for the platform jumping routes you should take throughout the dungeon, do not stand on a platform for too long or it'll dissolve and void this trophy. This post on reddit claims that there's a cheap method that allows you to avoid lava damage, but I don't recommend risking using this method as there's no video providing a route to take if you want to ghost form through all the lava, sometimes ghost form won't last long enough for you to cross all the lava. Another thing you should avoid doing in the Lava Forge is sprinting before you jump to a platform, the game can often lag your jumps if you are sprinting which will make you not jump far enough to a platform, thus voiding the trophy. Another thing worth noting is that damage you take from lava while using a damage shield will still void the trophy even if your character never took health damage from it.

 

For jewelry trait research, you can often find the trait you need by buying it in guild traders. There are filters for the items you want, you can simply use the search filters to look for the type of jewelry you want and which trait it has. The game also explains to you how you can find the trait if you hover over it at a jewelry crafting table when you use the "research" option. The fastest route to getting Jewelry Trait Master is to research 5 traits on one jewelry type and 4 traits on the other, however in the long run it is probably going to be necessary for you to research Arcane, Bloodthirsty and Infused on both rings and necklaces, as a lot of build guides for the game recommend these traits on the jewelry. This trophy is a waiting game because researching traits takes real time to do, luckily the research continues regardless of whether you are online or not. If you have the research time reduction passive skills in jewelry then it will take you around 8 days to get the trophy.

 

With regards to traits, if you farm gear of any type there is a high chance that it will drop in a trait that is not recommended for your build. In that case, you can transmute the gear, transmuting requires you to own the Clockwork City DLC or have a friend who owns a transmutation station in their primary residence. Transmuting gear costs 50 transmute crystals for the piece of gear you want to use, there are a variety of ways to get those crystals, but they are incredibly tedious and lengthy to acquire. The best way to get a lot of crystals is to achieve 25,000 Alliance Points in a 30 day Cyrodiil campaign, that will give you the tier 1 reward at the end of the campaign which gives you 50 crystals, you can do this on all your characters and reap the rewards of the crystals. To transmute a gear piece to a different trait, you must have researched the trait that you want to change the gear to. Read the next paragraph regarding reconstruction as it may be the better option for you instead of transmuting gear.

 

Added in the Markarth patch is set collection, which can be viewed from the "Collections" menu in your user interface, what this does is allows you to see pieces of gear that you have bound to your account that belong to various gear sets on the game. The benefit of the set collection is the fact that collecting gear pieces allows you to reconstruct the gear, meaning that if you have bound that piece of gear to your account it will be placed in your collection, allowing you to recreate that piece of gear in the future if you need it. Reconstructing gear costs transmute crystals and the more pieces of a specific set that you have collected, the less transmute crystals it will cost to reconstruct, if you have collected a lot of pieces of a set, it can cost you less than the 50 crystals that are required to transmute the gear, meaning that all gear you collect in the world, dungeons or trials is worth binding to your account in-case you need it in the future. If you deconstruct a piece of gear from the world, dungeons or trials it will also be added to your collection, meaning that there is no more accidental deconstruction of an important gear piece, deconstruct away and gain those materials and crafting levels in the process. If you collect all pieces for a gear set, it will only cost you 25 transmute crystals to reconstruct it, reconstruction is done at a transmute station which is either located in the Brass Fortress in Clockwork City or available to you through people's player houses if they have placed the station in there. The maximum amount of transmute crystals you can carry at one time is 1000 if you are an ESO+ member and 500 if you are not a member, however unopened geodes do not count towards this total so hoarding those is still allowed if you are full on the amount you're allowed to carry.

 

Furthermore regarding rare styles and alliance styles, I recommend purchasing the style motif from guild traders rather than specifically farming for them. In that case, simply save those trophies for close to last because you will certainly have enough gold by then to buy your way to the trophies. A thing worth noting about rare styles is that to use some of the motifs you must be level 40 in Blacksmithing, Clothing or Woodworking, linked earlier on in the guide is methods for achieving a high level in those types of crafting.

 

If you have never been a Werewolf or Vampire before, I will mention that the best approach to take regarding acquiring the infection would be seeking the help of players who have the bite available to use on you. A player who is a Werewolf or Vampire can only bite 1 person a week however finding help with this aspect of the game is very simple for the most part. There are shrines that you must meet a person at and if they have a bite available, they can choose to use it on you when the game prompts them to. You can use the following links: Vampire Shrines, Werewolf Shrines, clicking the blue text will redirect you to a YouTube video showing the locations of the shrines where another player can turn you into a Werewolf or Vampire. A lot of the time you can head to any of these shrines and a person who can bite you will bite you if they're feeling generous. Sometimes people want you to pay them gold to get their help, I do not recommend paying them a high amount for this opportunity as many people will give you it for free, if you pay gold, pay it as a way to appreciate the help rather than paying them because they told you to. You cannot be a Vampire and Werewolf at the same time and you must cure one to get the other, this link is the location of the guy who cures you, he can cure you from either of the infections for a small fee of gold. In the past being a Vampire permanently was the meta for the game but in the Greymoor patch vampire was changed and being one will automatically increase the cost of your non-vampire abilities by up to 25%, for that reason I recommend not continuing to be a vampire after you have received the bite. Because you do not get any negative effects from being a Werewolf you can keep it without curing it if you wish.

Alcast has beginner setups for all of his builds using beginner drops along with crafted sets such as Magnus Gift and Julianos.  I have a couple of toons that are just starting out and his beginner setups are working out for me, as it seems the strengths of the gear sets keep changing.

 

What is interesting is that the higher level drops seem to be just as good as the crafted sets.

I feel that being a damage dealer requires better gear than a healer for instance, I haven't had experience in tanking but a lot of the crafted sets for it also look great for a person to use. Both of my friends who did this game with me used the Sorcerer class, one using the Easy Sorc build by Xynode, the other using the Gear 2 setup by Alcast for a Stamina Sorcerer. I feel that the gear for stamina in his setups is easier to acquire, because Briarheart can be purchased and Matierre's Bodkin (Briarheart Dagger) is drops in a quest in Wrothgar, Easy Sorc specifically had to be done with the optimal setup since the heavy attack ticks with the recommended gear significantly outweigh the beginner setup. In these cases I like what Alcast does with his builds where the beginner build can be used to grind for gear 2, then gear 2 can be used to grind the optimal gear, for a trophy hunter they'd only need to pursue his gear 2 build containing overland and dungeon sets.

I'm pretty boring with my class.  After trying out the others, I settled on a Sorcerer Pet build (from Alcast) so that I can run dungeons by myself if others are hanging around the dark anchors getting easy bling. I started with Deltia's builds then tried Xynode, Dottz and now Alcast. I agree with you on aligning your toon with the gear that you can obtain, but then the DLC/Chapters are released and they nerf the gear so you have to change up again. Funny, my big goal was to max out a crafter to be able to create anything.  But C160 gear - well, the materials needed are excessive so seems the dropped gear is a better deal  and you can improve it.

Most of what you said is spot on. I got the platinum a year ago, just could never bring myself to get the last few dlc trophies done. I dabbled in some endgame PVE until I moved to middle of nowhere internet and just couldn’t take the DCs anymore. Grats on the 100% it takes some serious dedication.

Various things such as the Sentinel of Rkugamz monster set are getting buffed as well and while healing per tick on various skills may be reduced, losing 30% of a heal isn't going to be the end of the world compared to DPS where a lot of DPS checks occur in boss fights. You're really close to the 100% so I'm sure you'll get there eventually when the game wants to work for you, that's a huge issue they keep claiming they're gonna address but I never see them do shit about it.

You're really close to the 100% so I'm sure you'll get there eventually when the game wants to work for you, that's a huge issue they keep claiming they're gonna address but I never see them do shit about it.

 

Nah they are too focused on monetizing the game to worry about the performance of said game. It’s not that bad if you have a really strong connection and/or a pro, but that’s not possible for everybody.

What's your opinion on the chance of a fairly infrequent gamer (a few hours a week) achieving the platinum trophy, and 100% to go with it?  I just don't have the time to sit down every day, never mind for an hour or two every day, and shifts in my schedule seem unlikely.  I do really want to play this some day, though, as I loved Skyrim and Oblivion.

The only trophy truly requiring you to devote a lot of time in one sitting is Emperor, unfortunately the competition would be fierce and prohibit you from being #1 on the leaderboard with a very limited amount of time to play the game. If you have a lot of free time to attempt Emperor and overcome that, the rest of the 100% is absolutely doable with a limited schedule. The game could have been done quicker by myself, but a lot of my days were incredibly short as I didn't want to pressure myself to no life the game as much. Emperor in my opinion is only one of the more frustrating trophies due to the endurance factor, but there are plenty of other trophies that are more stressful than it, but the benefit of the other annoying trophies is that you can do them in your own time.

I'm having PS4 Pro with SSD installed in it and like ~10ms of lag (living like 200km from EU servers location) with 50Mbit connnection and it still LAGS LIKE HELL! Situation where I don't see enemies in public dungeons or dolmens are happening way too often (or being able to hit boss only with AoE, cause I can't see him), so sorry, no solution for that, until ZoS will fix it by themselves (or I drop the game).

I’ve heard EU servers have it a lot worse than NA. No doubt there’s a lot wrong with the game—the engine it’s built on is not optimized for an MMO to begin with. Then you throw in the fact that they overhaul the skills every three months and that introduces weird bugs that don’t get fixed until the next big update three months down the road. I was trying not to crap on the game too hard since that’s not what this forum is about   , but there are reasons I don’t play anymore.

@Sergen wow seriously good work man, I just skimmed through the OP because i'm not ready to do ESO yet but I played it a lot on PC, so i know most of what you are talking about. Apologies if you said already but you should definitely try to make a PSNProfiles trophy guide for platinum + DLCs (it could definitely win an award for best guide with the effort you put in).

It would take exceptionally long and probably not win anything, considering the most popular game of the category that can be voted for in guides is the one to win every time... The fishing guide is likely the furthest I'll go with getting a published guide on this website out, but I appreciate that you like the thread

No problem! It's your own time after all. I think this thread is good enough. Congratulations on the 100%. I'm definitely gonna attempt 100% but don't know if i'll end up succeeding. I really love this game and have played it for months on PC. I switched to it after WoW went down the drain, it's a great game despite the harsh reviews on release.

@Sergen I'm trying to 100% this myself I'm also a healer!

 

I recently got the Emporer trophy out of the way and I'm ready to begin the grind on everything else! So far I've only completed Summerset, Wrothgar (not done Vet Maelstrom, only normal!) and Hew's Bane!

 

I'm struggling in places such as Imperial City and other areas and could do with a hand, although I don't know many people who play the game that have that same drive to get the 100%!

 

Any tips/ help?

For Imperial City, there was an event recently so it populated the place a lot and it has become free on the crown store. In that case, similarly to how you probably earned Emperor, you can form a group with people that are within the Imperial City and they'll help you take down patrolling horrors and do all the arena events. Otherwise, follow the Werewolf build that I linked in the thread for a good solo build that gives you resistances and high health recovery with decent damage and you'll likely be able to solo most of Imperial City with the build.

What is the best way to buy the game and all dlc? Does it make sense to buy the biggest edition of the game which includes 4 chapters and get other smaller dlcs using eso+ (or get them using crowns?) ? Or it is better to get just base game and eso+? I know for certain that ESO+ gets you access to all the DLCs.  The confusion is with the old chapters.  Morrowind, Clockwork,Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor are considered Chapters.   Since I bought those as expansions to the base game as they came out I do not know if they are available with ESO+.  I have heard that the old chapters become part of ESO+ once a new chapter is released.  ESO+ will get you Orsinium, thieves, assassins, all 4 person dungeons (DLC packs 1 to 5, 7, 9, 11,12, 13 and 15 for certain.  The new chapters might also be rolled in to the base game - the description on the playstation store included morrowind. I think that the only thing that is not available with ESO+ is Greymoor.

Game with greymoor includes other major chapters like morrowind, elsweyr, ect. So I think I will buy it and a eso+ for a year when I will start this jorney

DC universe online was really tough to 100%, but oh boy does eso look even worse..

I'm currently playing eso on my alt account to help my friend get all trophies in the game, but even so the game takes a better part of the year to do even if playing a couple hours per day.
