Popular Post Dragon-Archon
Hey PSNP, @PooPooBlast has finished the interview and the responses are nicely detailed. Have fun reading it. Stock Questions I’d like to start by saying thank you to everyone who participated and it was a joy for me to write this despite taking me a loooong time to finish, roughly 17-20 hours or so spread across days. I also would like to apologize in advance in case you run into typos because there was so much to write about... Without further ado, grab some popcorn and enjoy! How did you come up with your PSN name? I’m sure everyone is dying to know by now so here’s my story. I received my PS3 as a gift from my mother and I was pretty ecstatic to hop on and play something after seeing the difference between PS2 and PS3. I was also faced at that time with a new thing and that is being able to play online! On console??? Wow I thought. I saw the username creation pop-up and initially my account was going to be named Iworkdsohard because that was also my Runescape account username. That name was just a modification to Akon’s song I Tried So Hard, pretty lame I know . But I digress! My brother was sitting next to me at that time and every time we’re together we’re just cracking jokes. He said, what about ShaquilleOatmeal? It was hilarious and surprisingly it wasn’t taken and I was pretty close in choosing it. Then he said what about PewPewBlast as in gun shooting noises? I thought meh, maybe.... And then that’s when he said PooPooblast!! as a joke but I immediately thought “yep that was the one!” He said nononono I am just joking but I took it and went along with it and here I am! Do I regret this name 7 years later? Mmmmm in hindsight I think I would’ve chosen ShaquilleOatmeal instead hahaha. But yes that’s my story for my username! What games convinced you get your PlayStation 3, Playstation Vita, and PlayStation 4? I don’t own a Vita but here are the rest! PS3: I owned a PS2 prior to that and I used to play on the PS1 at my cousin’s house so I was already familiar with the brand. I got my PS3 in February 2012. There was no game that convinced me per se but the technological jump between the PS2 to PS3 in terms of graphics and online implementation felt like the next big thing so I immediately jumped on. If I really had to choose a game it would’ve been GTA IV. I was a huge fan of GTA SA and Vice city on the PS2 and GTA IV at that time looked amazing. To my disappointment I actually didn’t like GTA IV that much despite the excellent story. The gameplay was just too bland and all of what made GTA SA amazing such as customizations and owning lots of property, clothes etc were stripped away. Money was useless in GTAIV imo. PS4: I bought a PS4 pro in Nov 2016. I would have to say almost any game that I played on the PS3 that had a sequel on the PS4 is what convinced me to get the PS4. Batman Arkham Knight, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Infamous Second Son, Far Cry 4, and Just Cause 3 are notable examples. Have you ever been tempted to switch over to the Xbox/Nintendo/PC gaming ecosystems? To be honest, no, not really! I played on the Xbox briefly at my friend’s house and the controller was too huge for my hands and kind of bulky. I know many people will call me crazy because their controllers are touted as the best or one of the best but I absolutely hated it. Not to mention their exclusives never really jived with me and most of my friends were PS owners. As for Nintendo products, I used to own an NES and I enjoyed a few of the games I used to play like contra, Super Mario Bros, batman the video game, excitebike, duck hunt (yes I owned that plastic gun :p) and I think that’s all I remember. PS2 came along later and pretty much occupied my time and I no longer care or have any interest In Nintendo products. As for PC, I used to play lots of Counter Strike (1.3, 1.5, 1.6), I also played a little bit of Half-life but I used cheats so I got stuck somewhere and couldn’t get out so lol I didn’t bother replaying the game and to this day, I don’t know how the game ends hahaha. I also used to play Road Rash a lot which was incredible imo. I then started playing Runescape in 2008/ 2009 religiously and that was the only thing I pretty much played until about 2010. That's when I decided to quit and focus on my future endeavours because I was almost an addict. Since I left Runescape I also simultaneously quit PC gaming and haven’t returned since. Today if you want to enjoy PC gaming you gotta have a decent rig which I’m not all about and consoles to me are very convenient and budget friendly. (I know you can get a more powerful PC with the same price but I’m so used to consoles now I can’t go back and most of my friends own a Sony console). What are your top 5 game series and why? In no particular order (I can’t really choose between Mirror’s Edge, Yakuza, and Tekken series in my top 3) Mirror’s edge: I picked this game up from the bargain bin for $10 at my local EB games just because of the awesome art cover. It really stood out with its red and white and unique logo with Faith staring into my soul (in a good way) at the front cover so everything about it seemed unique. I read the description at the back (that’s how I used to choose if I wanted to buy a game or not but today I watch videos online) and I was immediately sold! The parkour in first person seemed like an innovative idea. Popped the disc in and I was mesmerized by the art style, the surreal soundtrack, and that liberating feeling you get from running at fast speeds all alone on rooftops. It was all so unique and unlike any other thing I played! Here's the intro soundtrack that sealed the deal for me: What an incredible game it was and it’s one of those where you wish you can wipe your memories again to re-experience everything Yakuza: I heard very little about the game initially and every time I saw some snippets of gameplay, for some reason I still felt tentative. One time, yakuza 0 was on sale for $20 digitally and I bit the bullet and bought it anyways because many people were vouching for me to try this one out and boy I can’t thank them enough! Want an incredible story? Check! Want some kick-ass combat? Check! Want some hilarious and over-the top moments and unique side quests? Check! Want some variety in the gameplay? Check in the form of a bajillion minigames! After 0 I actually immediately went to buy physical copies to collect all of the games from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios that are available to NA and atm I own 0,1,2,6, fist of the north star and Judgement. (FoTNS is my newest addition). Batman Arkham series: I was introduced to the series by my brother who doesn’t actually play video games much (the same one who came up with the PooPoo username :p) and he gave me batman arkham asylum on my birthday. I was blown away by the story and the combat which were revolutionary for their time. There was simply not a proper superhero game and asylum was the first one to take the throne imo. He also bought me later Arkham City GOTY for my birthday the year after and then I was hooked. Ever since, I played and platted all Batman arkham games! To me, the combat, the story, and the villains you meet are what draws me in. Tekken: I have played all Tekken games so far besides TT1 and a few other spin-offs from back in the day. I can’t really pin-point why I enjoy the series so much because I hate any other fighting game! I think a big portion has to be nostalgia and all the memories I had playing Tekken in the arcades and at my cousin’s and friend’s places back in the day. I still play Tekken 7 today and my main is the one and only Paul Phoenix!! Here are my current stats as of August 8th, 2019. Infamous: I picked up infamous 1 for $5 from the bargain bin and I had very low expectations to be honest especially that I played this in 2015 and the game was released back in 2009! The first half of the game was meh, I won’t sugar coat it but as soon as I encountered the plot twist at the end and replayed the game as evil cole, that’s when it started to solidify its place as an awesome game. I picked up Infamous 2 right after and it sealed the deal for me that this was a series that wasn’t going anywhere and had immense fun zapping electricity at enemies and also enjoying the non-revolutionary but decent storylines of evil and good playthroughs! What are your top 5 games and why? Crap… I thought I was going to escape not choosing favourites between game series in question 4 lol but here goes… If I really had to choose at gun-point it’ll be in that order: Runescape, Mirror’s edge 1, Yakuza 0, Tekken 5, and Mirror’s edge catalyst. Runescape had to be #1 because I forcibly had to quit playing otherwise I wasn’t stopping any time soon given that I played that game for years and years! All of my friends were playing it who I knew in real life and it was just a gigantic time-sink. Man I miss those days but it’s for the better I moved on! Mirror’s edge 1 and yakuza 0 take their rightful place because of reasons I described in the question 4. I decided to choose tekken 5 here because of how revolutionary it was for its time. Story mode, arcade mode, the soundtrack (see my osts below!), Tekken devil within (a 3D mode) and loads of customization options really shook up the genre and the roster was a big step-up from tekken 4! However, in terms of what I would enjoy playing now, it’ll be Tekken 7 because of how refined the combat is. Finally Mirror’s catalyst takes #5 because imo it felt like a worthy successor. Great soundtrack, great world design, open world, refined parkour, runs 60 fps now, and a slightly better story. You might saying, WTF?? Everything seems better than the first so why is it #5?? But to me nothing will recreate that element of being wowed initially that I had when playing the first mirror’s edge without having any expectations! Which unreleased game(s) are you looking forward to the most and why? MMmmmm. Very few actually. I do not know if it’s part of growing up but as I am getting older, I am finding that very few games these days that are being released are making go wow! I really want to go out and buy this right now! There are a few exceptions of course so here they are. CyberPunk 2077. I expect nothing less from CDPR to deliver here after playing the witcher 3 and the whole futuristic setting and loads of customization with story branching is right up my alley. I initially was underwhelmed by their reveal because it did look like a generic first person shooter but the more I hear about it, the more interested I become. Dying light 2 is another! Dying light 1 surprised me in so many ways because I thought I was in for another boring zombie game especially how I disliked dead island. I think the implementation of the parkour mechanics added a lot of verticality and it opened up so many ways to traverse the environment. And I felt that the story was not bad! The DLC expansions were also well-made and I think I probably enjoyed doing the parkour challenges the most . Finally, this might be cheating because they’re on the ps3, but I am most excited about yakuza 3-5 and other potential spin-offs coming on the ps4 in NA. They haven’t been announced yet but there’s a high chance they will be given their track record of remastering and localizing their other yakuza games. Do you have any other hobbies outside of gaming? Yes but very few actually! Education, work, and gaming pretty much occupy my life these days. Weight lifting is something I really enjoy which I will talk about more in detail when answering some of the community questions. I started in grade 6 taking health and fitness seriously especially that I used to be on the football / soccer team (pick whichever term makes sense to you :p), and I just began with doing lots of push-ups and sit-ups. I bought my first pair of weights at the beginning of Grade 9 and I’ve been lifting since then. As mentioned earlier, I do enjoy playing soccer/ football (again choose whichever term you want :p), but now I play a lot less than I used to simply because most people that I knew have moved on with their lives :/ so we hardly meet. I enjoy watching MMA notably the UFC. I enjoy watching how years of discipline in terms of mastering a skill and staying in shape come into fruition in the forms of shaking each other’s brains lol jk but violence aside, I admire fighters who are mentally and physically intelligent. Other than those 3 main hobbies, I also like to cook a little and pay attention to what I eat because Gainzzz also happen in the kitchen! Top 5 TV shows, Movies, and/or anime, why, and would you recommend them to people? I’ll choose movies simply because of this reason (very sad reason lol): I am the textbook definition of living under a rock meaning I am very unaware of most movies, TV shows and anime, pop culture, etc… It’s really a matter of not finding the time and with what free time I have, I prefer to play games instead. So I’ll recommend my favourites: The Rush hour series featuring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker has to be one of my all-time favourite movies to watch. Jackie’s fighting style and their personalities together make for an excellent action/ comedy sequences that I am all about! Christopher Nolan’s batman movies with Christian Bale as Batman. I initially found Batman’s voice to be hilarious but I later got used to it. Heath Ledger really stole the show as Joker and so did Tom Hardy as Bane in the sequel. Big momma’s house starring Martin Lawrence. A great movie with a mix of action and comedy! Martin Lawrence disguises himself as a family’s grandma who’s coming over to visit to stake out a suspected criminal’s house. The tuxedo featuring Jackie chan again! Wearing a suit that gave you inhumane strength and fighting abilities? Hell yea! Why not!!! Taxi. You have Jimmy Fallon as a lousy police officer who also can’t drive properly so he has to rely on queen Latifah who is a beast at driving a taxi to catch robbers and criminals. Top 5 favorite music bands/group/artists/composers/ost? This was extremely difficult to select because I have well over 5! I’ll choose top 5 video game osts and top 5 lyrical music. Although, the problem with making others listen to your osts is that a lot of the times, those osts might be underappreciated because they are associated with a climactic moment or a moment of grandeur that is best experienced by listening to the soundtrack and actually playing the game! Imo there are few soundtracks that sound really awesome on their own without context but nonetheless here are my favourite soundtracks! I Highly recommend to listen with headphones to hear the lower frequency notes or subtle cues and other quieter sound effects! Lyrical: My number 1: jk jk lol my number 1: my number 2: This one holds a special place because I was lead trumpet when I played this song in my highschool band. my number 3: my number 4: my number 5: What I like about this one is that while the story told is exaggerated, it was based off a true story! Video game osts: I could’ve chosen pretty much anything from either Yakuza or Tekken series but I decided to mix it up for the sake of change! Make no mistake though I love them all. Number 1: I usually listen to Oath of Enma and the one below it back to back because they’re actually remixes of each other. Oath of Enma is more of a somber version because of a pivotal moment. I’ll choose the one below it as my number one because it is such a hype soundtrack!! (both are hype though lol). Seriously, my whole body becomes an adrenaline sink whenever I listen to it. Incredible fuel when lifting weights! Number 2: This one comes from tekken 5 which is found in one of the penultimate stages! 1:20 and after is sooo good. Number 3: This is another one of my hype songs! Alibi is another good track though but I prefer this one more. number 4: One of the best soundtracks I was greeted with from a main menu screen! number 5: From 0:50 to the lead-up to 1:12 is just incredible. Your favorite platinum and why? Satisfaction wise it’s gotta be Vanquish. I was very close from moving on after repeatedly failing challenge 6. But somehow, I came home one day and was feeling down. I thought to myself, failing at a video game isn’t gonna do much so I gave challenge 6 another shot that day, and my frown turned upside down very quickly after beating that. One of the best feelings I had! In terms of pure fun, Mirror’s edge man! There’s no surprise! I’d do it again and again and again. I also went ahead and got 99 stars in the time trials which weren’t needed for the 100%. Reason being is that I am very familiar with the series by now and I’ll be having good fun getting the plat and there’s no stupid grinds but just pure skill involved! Your least favorite platinum and why? Oof this one is tricky because almost 90% of the games on my profile that I didn’t finish were simply because I was not interested in playing them to begin with let alone go after the plat. But since this about completing a game all the way to the platinum it’ll go to Stories: The Path of Destinies. It was free on ps plus and it had a unique idea that you get 20 different endings. WOW, my naïve self thought lol. This should be fun! It wasn’t.. :/ Beating the game 20 times for the plat was absolutely no fun because of how much the story line overlaps between the different endings so I was essentially repeating so many segments.. Hated it! If you could have one game from any gaming generation be remade or re-released, which one would it be and why? I would choose Road Rash from the early 2000s / PS1 era. All of its spiritual successors look horrible and perform poorly on the PS4 :/. How far are you willing to go for a platinum? It really depends. Leaving trophies aside for now, if a game is straight up boring, has poor controls, or just doesn’t hold my interest in any shape or form, I’m moving on! Any free time I have, I want to make sure I’m having fun and to me it is not in the form of going through a game that I am not enjoying for trophies. If the game was really fun but the trophy list sucks then I will try my best and see what happens! See below for an example: My last plat was RDR2 and I absolutely hated the grind associated with everything it had. Fantastic SP but the plat hunt was brutal. Studying and skinning all animals, bajillion collectibles, amassing 70 gold medals, and reaching level 50 in online were just downright a boring experience for me. However I stuck with it mainly because of a stupid reason and that’s to get to 124 plats to make Judgement my #125.. No seriously… this is how much I love RGG studios and their games so I endured! Oh that and because I have the RDR1 plat so I thought to myself lets keep the ball rolling. So it really depends on a game-to-game basis but overall I have to enjoy the game to go after the plat. What feature (besides backwards compatibility) do you think the next console generation should have? Ability to send videos to friends from our HDD directly just like how we can send screenshots! I don’t want to rely on uploading stuff to youtube to show people my videos! A much bigger HDD as well would be nice. Ability to gift friends a game from the PS store would also be welcomed! How did you come across PSNP? It’s kind of scary but I absolutely do not remember now that I think about it no matter how hard I squeeze my brain. I only joined 3 years ago in may 2016 but I’ve no idea… wow…:/ What is your favorite thing about PSNP? It’s the community. That’s what makes PSNP awesome. They’re mainly down to earth people, nice and approachable. You gotta choose wisely though who you talk to . Almost all of my friend’s list on PSN atm comes from people I’ve met through here. And finally not to mention all the awesome guides that have come out of the site. Years ago I used to use PST.org but lately the quality of their guides and how quick they upload them have gone down and PSNP seems to have become better over the years. What is your least favorite thing about PSNP? Where there’s good, there’s bad. To put it from a generic POV, people are what make a forum come alive as mentioned in the previous question and also people are what make a forum become an unwanted place to be in. Thankfully PSNP isn’t bad at all actually in terms of running into @$$holes. Sure I’ve come across a few but thankfully I haven’t encountered anything yet that made go: “Wow I really should leave or take a break from this site.” If you could be in charge of PSNP for a day, what would you do/change and why? I would gift everyone lifetime premium on this site and put the tab on Sly . Is there anyone in the PSNP Community you would like to give a shout out too and if so why? I’d give a big shoutout to @Galactic Hyper Balls for gifting me lifetime premium. Seriously, years later and I am still very thankful! Thanks man! As for everyone else, I don’t like excluding people like that by giving specific shoutouts. If we’ve talked here for a while and I’ve added you on PSN then you’d probably be a person I’d give a shoutout to! Thanks to everyone for asking questions because without anybody’s interest I wouldn’t have decided to write this interview! And also thanks Dragon-Archon for giving me a platform to write about myself! Community Questions Favourite Food? Lasagna! My mother’s lasagna to be specific! White creamy garlic sauce, tomato sauce, ground beef, a crap ton of cheese, and 4-5 stacks of lasagna noodles. My life is complete. Preferred toilet paper manufacturer? I only use the premium kind – 3 ply! By the way, something to look out for: Notice how almost all toilet paper brands have an animal on them or a baby! Animals, babies, and sex are some of the most common strategies used to sell things especially if something is hard to market like toilet paper. Charmin has bears, Cashmere has a blond lady on it, Royale has a cute white cat and some have baby tigers, and cottonelle has a puppy on it. Is it true you and Lara Croft are best buds? Me? Not really . Faith on the other hand, they’re like best buds! Were you tempted to try to finish the Uncharted 2 and 3 MP trophies before the servers closed? Nope! Not even close! I loved my uncharted experience as it was and I couldn’t care less about the co-op online features. Not to mention the brutal grind you must endure! That and I am not worried about unobtainable trophies because my profile already has a handful of those from older ps3 games. Favorite research equipment in the lab? Automated Western Blot machine! They simply transfer a protein population initially separated by an electric field from a polyacrylamide gel based on size to a special type of membrane (PVDF or nitrocellulose if you’re curious to know) where a single type of protein can be isolated specifically using antibodies and visualized using a fluorophore or the chemical that emits light when excited with certain wavelengths.Western blot procedures were a huge pain back in the day based on timing and costs when it comes to prepping the gels, incubating the antibodies and staining and destaining the gels. Today after you are done running a gel electrophoresis you can transfer that gel immediately and plop it between pre-cast gels, layers and filters in the western blot machine without worrying about all of those preparatory protocols! This is a picture of one of my stained proteins after running the gel electrophoresis. This is a picture of what a western blot looks like. (Not my image). Notice how you isolated only a specific type of protein! That’s essentially what it does. What research experiment/equipment you hope to never do/use again? I love microscopes but my eyes become extremely dry after staring into the light for hours… I just wish you can instead have a flat screen to look at vs looking through binocular lenses! What do you hope to be doing, study or career wise, in 5 years? I am hoping to be either in medical school or in the process of obtaining a PhD which as I mentioned in my brief about me to be in the department of Pathology. Atm I am focusing on graduating and completing my co-operative work term before I delve into the preparation needed for the PhD or MD route. Yea… it’s a long but rewarding route. We’ll see what happens. Favorite political figure? It’s gotta be the PM of Pakistan! https://www.news18.com/news/buzz/khurram-nawaz-gandapur-pakistan-minister-praises-pilot-for-planes-narrow-escape-shares-animated-video-of-gta-5-2221373.html https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/video/pakistani-politician-accidentally-gets-cat-filter-during-press-conference/vp-AAD0yyK https://streamable.com/e0sqe Jokes aside, I actually do not have a favourite, sorry to disappoint. There is not a single person I look up to because politics is largely dirty work no matter how successful a politician seems to be. Decisions made will never please everyone and they always come at the cost of a certain demographic. That’s just how life works. What was it that got you interested in molecular biology? A big portion of it comes from my surroundings. I grew up where STEM was the most important thing you can learn and study and that a solid career awaits ahead of you if you go that route. My father is a doctor and one of my brothers is soon going to be one as well. I come from a family where human biology is at the forefront of our interest. Me personally, I decided to go for the molecular route because I find that understanding a concept at the microscopic scale makes it much easier to understand a concept at the macroscopic scale when talking about tissues, organs and how things holistically function together. And finally, I found it that if I decide to not go the MD route, molecular biology is another great field to be part of and the opportunities for innovation are limitless. You can go into vaccination companies, regenerative medicine, researching specific mechanisms in model organisms, pharmaceuticals, forensics, histopathology, etc. Which trophies have you hidden? Will you go back and try to complete your earlier games where possible? Haha I’m glad someone brought this up! Those 6 trophies hidden come from Monster Jam Battlegrounds, probably the worst game I’ve ever played, period. Controls are straight up trash, graphics are terrible, the game is not even fun and the audio felt cheap. It was free from plus and at that time, I thought to myself I can play that for a few hours to grab a quick plat and get myself closer to a milestone. I regretted it and hid it away out of sight and out of mind. I can probably go back and finish it in a few hours but I refuse to touch this piece of turd ever again! As for my earlier games, to be honest, no not really. Those uncompleted games exist for either 2 reasons: 1) they have trophies that have become unobtainable and 2) I stopped having fun going after the plat or the game itself was just too boring to hold my interest (exception is Max payne 3 because that game kicked my ass lol and I admit defeat). My profile is not really a completionist profile but it just so happens that I have a relatively good amount of completed games because I’ve played a lot of games that held my interest :p. How much poo could poopoo blast if poopoo could blast poo? Seriously though, what're your picks for UFC 241? That card is stacked! My picks are Yoel romero (though costa is f*cking scary too), Nate Diaz, and DC. To be honest I’m not that confident with my Yoel pick but I’m just rooting for him because he’s a favourite of mine. Costa is dangerous because 1) he’s jacked AF which could nullify Yoel’s power and 2) he’s really young and hungry. We’ll see. Nate is my second pick because that man doesn’t wilt under pressure unlike Pettis. Pettis was losing against Thompson until he caught him with that awesome KO but I doubt Diaz will get KOd here and I think Diaz will win by either TKO in the late rounds or by decision. Finally DC wins this. His wrestling, clinch game and closing the distance against large fighters is nothing but incredible and he’ll get it done for sure imo. Update: When I wrote this, UFC 241 hasn't aired yet so lol we both know the results by now. Please describe your most painful poopoo experience. Spare no detail! I can’t really recall a painful poopoo experience, I’m still young and kicking so my bowels are in tip-top shape. BUTT, I had a near psychological shock because of a poop experience I had at some point. Here’s why: One day, after wiping, I looked at my poop because I always do… and I saw it was reddish/burgundy.. My eyes were like O_O. For a very brief moment I nearly had a heart attack but then I remembered that I ate beets the day before and I was relieved immediately after. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? Maple tree! I’m bland and boring on the outside but sweet and fun on the inside . If you could name your ultimate finishing move that had the words "poopoo" in it, what would it be called? Would PooPooBlast not work? xD. Mmmm what about? PooPooPiledriver? PooPooXecutioner? PooPooSlaughterer! Yea having the words "poopoo" doesn't make it roll off the tongue that easily :/ Can you share your most epic Tekken moment? I’ve got Epic Tekken momentSS! Videos will speak louder than words so enjoy It was 2 to 2 and last round left! My brother was there watching as well and we all erupted into a frenzy after I nailed him especially with that dodge-jump over the low attack at the end! What is the weirdest news story you've read this year? Don't hold back on us! Ohohoho I won't! This one has to be the weirdest thing I’ve read in quite a while!!! https://www.livescience.com/64519-man-injects-semen-back-pain.html If Rock Lee aka @resoluterock got into a bar fight with Paul Phoenix, who would win and why? Personally, I think a drunk Rock Lee could take anyone, but I could be convinced otherwise! You see…I’m biased and I also never watched Naruto to know Rock Lee’s abilities but what I do now is that freaking Paul fought aliens!!!! (at least if you beat the story mode in tekken 5 anways :p). So… Aliens > Rock Lee, therefore Paul wins . Are you ever gonna get your diarrhea treated? Nope! It’s what makes me recognizable on this site! Can’t have my identity be taken away now can I?! What is one of your favorite games of all time? Ooooof one?! Making it difficult eh? . I’ll say Runescape! I spent years and years playing that game especially from elementary school to early high school. It really was like no other game I’ve played. I got my brother on the Runescape craze as well in the mid 2000s and he became more obsessed than I was and he doesn’t even play games that much. But yea it was really good that we both called it quits as we got older because it’s such a time-sink. Good times though. What's your favorite color and why? I don’t have a favourite colour per se but If I had to choose, it’ll be Burgundy. As to why? It’s just a colour that I’m drawn. I’m drawn to monochromatic colours in general really. And fun fact actually I own many plain coloured T-shirts which once again says I don’t necessarily have a favourite colour per se but burgundy seems to be my favourite. How old were you when you decided to pursue the education you are currently pursuing? What made you realize that it was the thing you wanted to pursue? Given that I needed to take biology/chemistry/ functions/calculus courses starting grade 11 to be eligible for the Life Sciences Program I am currently in, I had to make a decision by the end of grade 10 more or less. But as previously mentioned in a previous question, I come from a family that is science-oriented so I was pretty much exposed to this lifestyle growing up you can say. I was also naturally good at it obtaining really high marks so it felt like the most logical thing for me to go to. You might have expected that I had a moment of inspiration but to be frank, not really because science to me was just there in the form of reading books growing up so I wouldn’t know what it is like without it! It was just there. What do you enjoy most about molecular biology? It’s really the types of careers you can secure after graduation that I am looking forward to from my program. You can go into vaccination companies which I am actually going to do as part of my work term for a year. You can go into regenerative medicine, researching specific mechanisms in model organisms, pharmaceuticals, forensics, histopathology, etc. To me I enjoy cell culture work the most, mainly anything relating to biochemistry so things like studying protein-protein interaction, localization, and how a mutant protein can affect the phenotype (essentially the manifestation of a particular mutant DNA) of the cell/tissue sample we’re examining. It has implications in cancer studies for instance. What, in your opinion, would be the most overpowered super power someone could have? The most overpowered has to be invisibility. Facing someone with inhumane strength? You can evade and stay out of sight. Facing someone who can fly? No worries you can stay hidden on the ground and out of sight! Then when the opportunity presents you can go for the kill! I know you didn’t ask but my favourite superpower would have to be the ability to read people’s minds. To me people are a big puzzle to crack and I get some joy from understanding different personality types from observing and catching on certain types of behaviour of people. Might sound creepy lol but having the ability to read minds would facilitate that and so that’s what my favourite superpower would be. Best and worst thing about living in Canada? People are generally nice, friendly, relatively few instances of racism and violence, tolerant of others people’s customs, really excellent education especially given how some of our universities are one of the highest ranked in the world, and finally it’s relatively a peaceful country. The bad has to be how everything is becoming more and more expensive as our Canadian dollar keeps falling :/. Also, I think the worst thing though has to be the healthcare system. Whaaaaat??? We have free healthcare you say? True but the waiting times are atrocious. I’ve heard many many instances where somebody actually died waiting for their appointment because the system is really negligent of people’s needs. There are no proper walk-in clinics where you can get a blood test and find the results on the same day of. You usually have to wait a few days before the results turn up which is really stupid considering blood test analysis do not take that long. Another thing is that the system is overly complicated for no reason… A good example is that I went to see a general doctor for removal of a jammed toenail in which they’ll refer you to a specialist who have their own timing on when you can visit… So a solid month can go by waiting for your turn. Then… once you’re actually at the specialist’s place waiting forever for your turn the doctor checks you for like 10 mins, decides how he’s going to do the surgery on a later date and gives you another schedule which could very well be months away…. For me I went in around mid July for that and my surgery is scheduled for F**** October!!!! What the hell?!!! So yea… it’s such a flawed system. Pootine, yay or nay? Pootine? I see what you did there :P. Poutine tastes great! But I limit my intake of fast foods and I barely eat outside given that I like to stay in shape and that dish is highly loaded with some of the worst things you can eat like simple carbs, high trans fats, high sodium, and high saturated fat from the type of cheese curds they use. Lol I’m such a buzzkill eh? But definitely give it a try when you can! Best pizza topping? I almost never order pizza without olives, onions and some meat like chicken or pepperoni so that’s tough to call! I’d say grilled Pepperoni just because that alone can still make a good pizza! What’s the first game you remember playing? I really had to squeeze my brain for that one! I believe it was Batman the video game on the NES! I was 5-6 years old at that time. It came bundled with the console! Favourite Far Cry game? A close call between Far cry 4 and Far cry 3 but I’ll go with 4. Reason being is that Far cry 4 was such a big improvement from a gameplay standpoint and the graphics were crisp on the PS4 when I played it. Story wise though, Far cry 3 is just a tad bit better imo but Far cry 4 wins it over all because of the reasons I mentioned. You get first dibs on a third Mirror’s Edge but you have to sacrifice all your ultra rare trophies. Would you do it? MMmmmmmmmmm. No! Reason being is that I can be patient :D. Whether I’m first to play it or not I am still going to play it eventually so I’d rather wait and save my UR trophies! Month/Day/Year or Day/Month/Year? Definitely Day, month, year! What kind of a twisted person reverses the natural and logical order of things? . Dogs or cats? Definitely cats! I’ve never had a pleasant experience with dogs unfortunately and cats have always been calm and quiet around me which I prefer given that that’s similar to my personality. However, I do not own a cat or any pet actually and I do not think I will. I don’t think I’ll be a good owner and they’re a huge responsibility in my eyes. Are dragons awesome? I prefer something that is not a mythical creature but compared to other mythical creatures they’re definitely awesome! Looking forward to PS5? Ehhhhhh not really. For starters I wont be buying it at launch because the price point is gotta be quite higher than the previous generations based on from what I heard about its features especially that it includes backwards compatibility. Atm PS4 pro is still going for $500 CAD here so it’ll for sure be a lot more considering it’ll run PS4 games and in better quality. Secondly, at launch consoles are always faced with issues whether minor or major like fan problems and what not and I tend to wait for the release of future iterations when the majority of those issues are ironed out. Lastly, more games would have dropped and the games that came out at launch would be cheaper to buy! That’s my take on the PS5. What do you like the most about your study? It’s the types of careers you can secure after graduation that I am looking forward to. It ranges from vaccination companies which I am actually going to work at in the future for my work-term sequence for a year, to regenerative medicine, researching specific mechanisms in model organisms, pharmaceuticals, forensics, histopathology, etc. If for example, I decide to go into research and if I publish a wide variety of scientific articles that are well-received it can help propel my career towards becoming a professor or a teaching stream at a university. There are so many choices career-wise that you can make! You can also see my reply to the members who asked similar questions if you’re interested! Should dihydrogenmonooxide be banned? Definitely not but just make sure to not mistake it for dihydrogendioxide . ifting weights? How many times do you go to the gym per week? Yea I lift! But I actually never go to the gym . Whaaaat??? “you liar” you say. I actually exercise at home that’s why! I’ve bought a set of weights that have an adjustable weight system that can be decreased or increased depending on how much you want to lift! I exercise at home for three reasons – firstly because I do not trust how well the equipment is cleaned and secondly, the gyms around me are usually busy and it sucks having to wait for your turn. Thirdly, it’s a lot more convenient to exercise at home as you cut travel time which is great for a busy person like me. I used to exercise on the daily but once I became really busy I started to exercise every other day for roughly an hour or a bit more depending on how long I take. See Resolute Rock’s question if you want to know more details about my routines because he asked more questions about that as well! Why PooPooBlast and not PewPewBlast? Lol as I mentioned in question 1) of the standard questions, my brother jokingly said PooPooBlast in place of PewPewBlast when coming up with a username but I went along with the former because I thought it was better . Who's your favourite character in Tekken 7? Easily Paul. I grew to like him the most around Tekken 6/ Tekken revolution. My main used to be Steve actually but I almost forgot all of his moves :/ . What are your expectations for Season 3? I might be a Debbie-downer and it may not be the answer you’re looking for but nothing really. I couldn’t care less about the season passES (in plural) because firstly there’s more than one season pass. That’s ALREADY messed up. Secondly many of those characters are from previous tekkens so why the hell would you charge us for those????? On top of that each single character is overly expensive, something like $4 per character and I wont support such behaviour. I am content with the main game roster and Paul is the only fighter I need! One game you platted that you'll never play again? Haha I think that goes for most games that I’ve platted just because after platting a game, I want to give other games a chance in my backlog. Realistically speaking, no game can last you forever and there’ll be times where you gotta move on. For SP only games that’s especially the case once the story is over and you’ve done everything in the game (which is usually achieved by platting that game). So if I had to choose, it’ll be one of those games where they’re an interactive movie like the telltale games and the likes. I think Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is that game. I got it free from plus and I gave it a chance, but I wasn’t impressed at all and the game wasn’t for me. It was such a slog to go through the story and the collectibles so that’s my pick! Great to hear someone so enthused about science. I'm reminded about my time spent in the lab back in the day. You ever had the "pleasure" of working with piperidine? Hey! Another fellow lab enthusiast. To be honest no not really. Not sure if also that’s a UK saying or not. But I googled what piperidine is and as an educated guess, I was correct in that it is an alkaloid given that it ends in -ine. You’re welcome to explain that to me once this interview goes up in the comments section of the thread. Have you ever considered giving up on your current job/study to join the Yakuza and start up your very own Hostess club? No..But you got me intrigued! I just gotta makes sure to nab Etsuko the Obatarian for the people who want to come over to talk! Then business can start booming A fellow weightlifter I see. How much do you bench? . What’s your favorite exercise? This is a copy and paste from Caju_94’s reply to help answer that question :P. But short story is that it’s not much. I bench 60 lbs with free weights but I do high intensity lifting with high amount of reps. (see below for my routine details). And I actually never go to the gym . Whaaaat??? I actually exercise at home that’s why! I’ve bought a set of weights that have an adjustable weight system that can be decreased or increased depending on how much you want to lift! I exercise at home for three reasons – first because I do not trust how well the equipment are cleaned and secondly, the gyms around me are usually busy and it sucks having to wait for your turn, three, it’s a lot more convenient to exercise at home as you cut travel time which is great for a busy person. I used to exercise on the daily but once I became really busy I started to exercise every other day for roughly an hour or a bit more depending on how long I take. My routine is as followed if you’re interested and I alternate between these two every other workout: Shoulder, biceps, legs, abs day (I use 25 lbs per dumbbell): Shoulders – 4 sets of these: 12 reps of lateral raises, 12 reps of front raises, 15 reps of bent-over raises, 7 reps of front raises, 15 reps of upright rows, 20 reps of military presses. Biceps – 3 sets of these: 12 reps of bicep curls, 12 reps of hammer curls. Abs – 4 sets of these: 20 reps of leg raises, 20 reps of crunches, solid 30-45 secs planking for the core muscle and obliques if you hold your position at an angle. Legs - 3 sets of these: 20 reps squats while holding the 25 lbs dumbbells, 20 reps calf raises. Triceps, chest, legs, abs day (I use 30 lbs per dumbbell): Chest – 6-7 sets of these: 20 reps of Bench press with the dumbbells, 12 reps chest flies. 12-15 reps triangular push-ups Triceps – 4 sets of these: 10 reps of a variation of the overhead triceps extension (kinda hard to describe with words), 12 reps of tricep kickbacks, 12 reps of tricep dips, 15-20 reps of regular push-ups (my favourite exercise! It’s a classic and you only need your body as a weight). Abs – same as before. Legs - 3 sets of these: 20 reps squats while holding the 25 lbs dumbbells, 20 reps calf raises. Overall, I am more on the smaller side and I currently weigh 155 lbs, and I am 5’8 or 5’9 or in between I am not sure. I do not like to take photos like these but I decided to take one for the purpose of this question for you to see my current progress so this is how I currently look. Are there any bodybuilders / powerlifters you look up to? Mr Olympia, aka Arnie is my favourite and probably everyone’s favourite bodybuilder. I watched most of his movies and he’s a beast! I also look up to the Rock because of his impressive physique at such an old age. To me, I do not aspire to become huge as them and I am more or less content now with how I look and I wouldn’t mind if I just maintain that body and stop growing. Have you ever started a game thinking “I can’t platinum/100% this game” but, surprisingly, you managed to get all the trophies? What’s that game? If it happened multiple times, what was the hardest/surprising? Definitely multiple times! I think that doubt is the biggest detractor from platting a game. Modern Warfare 2: It was one of the earliest games I played on this account and the special ops missions on veteran were just brutal and I was inexperienced with FPS on consoles. Not to mention there were some co-op missions and I had barely had friends on the PS3 at that time! But a few months later, I managed to beat it when a friend of mine bought a copy and helped in the spec op missions . I also managed to beat a few of Infinity Ward’s speedrun times like in the snatch and grab mission and the prison mission! Bioshock 1: I played the game on survival initially on my first playthrough and it was just near impossible for me. Again, I sucked at FPS and I beat the game at least on normal difficulty and left the game for a while. I returned to it determined to beat it and Lo and Behold it happened! I just had to find the right build for me. GTA5: I got this game from my brother as a present and so I didn’t think much about trophies and I just wanted to play it especially how hyped I was considering they brought back a portion of San Andreas and customizations and things like that, that GTA IV lacked. From online trophies to a crazy amount of collectibles I didn’t think I was going to plat it but roughly 550 hours later I got it :D. A big portion of those hours though were spent fooling around in online and playing for fun and doing money glitches in the early days. UFC 2: One of my proudest plats because winning 4 matches online to become a champion was extremely hard for me considering you can be put against players who bought cards with real money and substantially enhanced their character to beat mine. That and completing all daily challenges for a day which can be tricky to do. Batman origins: I was (still am) a huge batman arkham fan after playing asylum and city and this one was next. There was a perma death mode that I had to finish andddd some really tricky online trophies to do such as killing all the enemy players in 1 match, defeating 4 enemies within 40 seconds as a hero, winning in each map type, killing a hero when you’re last left on the team to bring them back from the dead, reaching max level in the 3 faction types, and the hardest one - Take down 6 different players in a match, using 6 different methods as Batman or Robin in multiplayer. Luckily I joined an incredible group where we boosted all of that. I also discovered that perma death can be cheesed by exiting the game and saving your progress with a USB lol. Agents of mayhem: There are 350 shards to collect in the open world and they weren’t marked on the map :/. I printed a map and crossed them off one by one but there’s always a chance of missing one or two by accident and good luck trying to get those. Thankfully, that didn’t happen! Witcher 3: Deathmarch difficulty plus a crap ton of missables was intimidating going in especially the missables associated with collecting Gwent cards but I thoroughly prepared myself in advance before delving right in! RDR 1: Similar to Batman Arkham origins, there are some really annoying MP trophies that require a large group of people to co-ordinate but once again, I joined an awesome group and we got those done such as being a leader of a posse with 8 people, win 4 matches in a row in a team, being the top scorer in 3 consecutive FFA matches (heeelllll nooo, im not that good lol), and reach level 50 but thankfully there was a glitch to get there in like 15 mins which I used lol. An honourable mention goes to Mirror’s edge. I really sucked at the game initially but because I enjoyed it so much and played it a lot, over time I became good at it and I managed to plat it and even get 99 stars in the time trials. Your most enjoyable platinum and your least enjoyable platinum and why? Mirror’s edge! I’d do it again and again. I also got 99 stars in the time trials which weren’t needed for the 100%. I’d plat it again because I am very familiar with the series by now and I’ll be having good fun getting the plat and there’s no stupid grinds but just pure skill involved! Also has an incredible and somewhat relaxing ambient soundtrack which is great when you want to get lost in world even though beneath it all, the City of Glass is quite a sinister place to be in. It’ll forever be a game that holds a special place because of the memories I had while playing it. As for my least favourite, this one is tricky because almost all of the games that I didn’t finish were simply because I was not interested in continuing on playing them let alone go after the plat. So for my least favourite, while I didn’t enjoy the experience, it wasn’t the worst game I’ve played. It’ll have to be Stories: The Path of Destinies. It was free on ps plus and it had a unique idea that you get 20 different endings. WOW, my naïve self thought lol. This should be fun! It wasn’t.. :/ Beating the game 20 times for the plat was absolutely no fun because of how much the story line overlaps between the different endings so I was essentially repeating so many segments. Hated those parts! Who is your favorite author? (book, movie, video game). Movies – I don’t have a favourite author per se because I don’t watch a lot of movies to begin with. Book – I don’t read books anymore unless they’re books needed for my studies. However, one book that stuck with me for years now is Brave New World and so I’d have to give the Author Aldous Huxley props for that. I even wrote a comparative essay to 1984 by George Orwell and had lots of fun writing it. But overall, I’m the last person to talk to when it comes to recommendations for books and even movies. Video games - Toshihiro Nagoshi simply because he proposed the whole idea of the yakuza franchise and it became a huge hit in Japan and with fans alike in the west. He took a quite a gamble with yakuza 1 given that it was his first independent project back in the day especially that the project costed him a lot of money. I’m glad it payed off for him. What type of weather puts you in a PooPoo mood? 100% and without a doubt a rainy or a very cloudy day. Makes my mornings feel sluggish and gloomy. I love the sun and mild temperatures. There’s no better feeling waking up to the sun coming through the window early in the morning! What is something you enjoy but others find strange? Staring at people in public when they’re not making eye contact. JK JK That’s such a unique question. I’d have to say drinking a giant mug of milk on the daily in the morning, and not cold milk but near boiling milk. I’ve been doing this since I can remember back when I was a child. The milk used to have a little bit of sugar and some cocoa powder added but now I add about 2 heaping tsp of Nescafe with no sugar at all and all of a sudden I’m like a horse! Or I just drink milk with cocoa powder (not the artificial chocolate BS but actual bitter cocoa powder). What is something you hope to discover through working in your field? I’m still up and coming in my field with loads to learn so there’s a possibility of having things I wish to discover that I do not even know about yet until I become more experienced. But for the time being, with my current knowledge I am investigating what types of ubiquitin ligases (a protein that adds ubiquitin molecules which is a tag to mark a protein for degradation) are involved in targeting a type of protein (name not important) that is normally involved in maintaining organelle organization and the overall shape of the cell. You need a balance of protein building and degradation in order to do so but if there is excessive degradation then you face a problem… This topic is important because the way a cell maintains this organelle organization is by cytoskeletal elements which are essentially cables or “train tracks” where the organelles and other cell components can tread along within the cell as well as a bunch of proteins including the one I'm studying. Also those cytoskeletal elements are involved in helping the cell contact other adjacent cells in a tissue and so a loss of the connectivity to other cells via a mutation of the type of protein I am studying for example has implications in the metastasis of cancer. In other words, there could be dis-attachment of a benign tumor which is problematic because it can now enter your blood stream and invade other normal cells. In your field, what is something that currently confuses you? What do you hope to learn about that thing? Ooof. Almost everything. Studying mechanisms on the molecular level requires you to be aware of how things not only function in isolation but also the partners that they typically interact with. In a cell, nothing works in isolation and more often than not, you might get unexpected results because you can have variables that weren’t controlled for initially because you did not account for them. So as a scientist, you have to account for almost all of the variables that you can control so that any results you get aren’t due to something you didn’t apply as a treatment yourself. If your experiment was not replicable then it’s no good and you have to start over! This isn’t something you can learn per se but it’s a skill you acquire over time with experience and repetition and all of this will start to come naturally over time. You mention biotechnology. From what you have learned thus far, has there been anything within the subject of biotech that has given you more appreciation for said tech? How could it potentially be improved? Absolutely. Story time! Frederick Banting and Macleod and their colleagues back in the early 1900s (at my university ) first isolated insulin from a bovine pancreas and since then for a while, bovine and porcine sources were used to produce insulin. As insulin cases started to increase thanks to our wonderful shift in diets with industrialization, there was a high demand for insulin. Today we use recombinant DNA technology to produce lots of insulin which is very cheap and less invasive comparatively. Given that we sequenced the human genome already, we can take the insulin gene insert it into a vector which is typically a circular piece of DNA from bacteria and insert that vector to certain types of bacteria, usually E. coli. They’ll then produce the insulin protein from the inserted DNA which we can harvest in large vats, purify and sell! We’ve definitely come a long away. As for improving it, I cannot really comment much on it because any improvements would have to come from knowing the specific mechanisms by which the production process occurs and then fine-tuning those steps. I’d wager that improvements would have to come from finding ways to efficiently store, grow and feed the bacteria as well as finding methods that ensures that a high proportion of the bacterial colony would take up the recombinant vector which is known as transformation efficiency. If you had to give a lecture to a high school senior class, 1 hr in length, what would the focus of the lecture be and why is it important to teach these through your lecture? Definitely, a quick overview about the central dogma of life. That is we go from DNA to RNA to protein and to briefly explain how we go from each macromolecule to the next. These concepts are crucial because you’ll be running into them repeatedly throughout your career should you decide to pursue a field in molecular biology. The concepts would be not fully specific but they’d be good enough for somebody to garner a greater appreciation about what goes on inside a single cell. There are university courses I’ve taken that can literally take a full semester of 4 months about one of those macromolecules and even more specifically, you can take a full university course that focuses on one topic from those macromolecules. Thanks for the questions Dreggit! Very unique and thoughtful ones! Did you come up with your ID after experiencing the most heavenly thing a man can feel, diarrhoea? Nope! Read my question 1) answer but I am very familiar with that relieving feeling you get after the expulsion of a constricted bowel movement Which Mirror's Edge game do you like better: the first one or Catalyst? Why is that? That’s such a difficult question to answer but I’d say the first one by a slim margin just because of the wow factor I felt when I played it and it completely caught me off guard given that I had no or little expectations! I bought the game on a whim while browsing some bargain bin games at EB Games. You can also read my “top 5 game series” answer to learn a little bit more about that! Catalyst on the other hand was a game that I was very hyped for and it delivered in my opinion with the exception of having a memorable story but then again neither did the first one. I also loved the first mirror’s edge lyrical soundtrack (still alive) a little bit more than catalyst’s lyrical soundtrack (warning call) but given that Solar Fields was in charge for the in-game soundtrack, they were both equally as good in that department! If you were in charge of Mirror’s Edge 2’s development, what would you add/change? Firstly, catalyst is mirror’s edge 2 technically but anyways! I’d reintroduce head bobbing from the original mirror’s edge. It sucks that they removed it from catalyst which lessened the “feeling of running” if that makes sense. Also, I’d make sure that momentum actually plays a part when doing jumps and parkour. The first mirror’s edge did that well and you really had to be running fast at certain speeds to cover distances while wall-running or closing gaps. In catalyst you can press R2 to go into sprint mode right away which removes a lot of the challenges I talked about. I’d also reintroduce chapter speedruns because those were really fun! So my ideal mirror’s edge would be a combination of catalyst and the first: Open world, solar fields in charge of the soundtrack, 60 fps, running momentum matters, head bobbing, include guns for a quick shot while on the run (provided it doesn’t interfere with the story or Faith’s morality lol), more elaborate sidequests, have some puzzles to solve that involves climbing / running on certain platforms (like the gridnodes but better!), have a good amount of collectibles that can be viewed on the map which requires skill to reach for some collectibles. If ChristIllusion12 is the answer then what is the question? Who likes to talk to have suspicious get-togethers and likes to stick his Beaver Cleaver into his sketchy tinder date’s beef curtains? I have another question in regards to molecular biology, can I distrupt your nucleus by penetrating your cell membrane with my cytoplasm? Are you looking forward to Yakuza 3 or are you sceptical as it won't be a complete remaster? Absolutely! I already saw how the remaster looked from gameplay videos and honestly the resolution bump to 1080p and 60 fps looks good enough for me. Yea it’s not as good as the newest dragon engine but I’m just happy we might be getting a remaster to the west and I’ll take anything at this point. Cannot complain! And on another note, are you thinking about getting the whole series completed? We're Team Goromi buddies, so it can just be a question about Yakuza dude. Goromi = best girl And again, absolutely! I am just waiting for them to release 3,4,5 remastered before I start yakuza 6. I am also planning to play most if not all of their spin-off titles. At the moment, I own yakuza dead souls, fist of the north star and Judgement. I can never get bored of their games and I hope it stays that way. If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why? Definitely Martian Manhunter! Why? I remembered he had telekinetic powers including reading people’s minds and also controlling them which I find to be fascinating, especially reading people’s minds which has applications in the real world . But to my surprise he also apparently had the following powers according to Wikipedia: Genius-level intellect, Photographic memory, Superhuman endurance, speed and strength, Shapeshifting, Invisibility, intangibility, Regenerative healing factor, Flight, Martian nine senses, Heat vision, and Telepathy. That’s one overpowered character haha. If you were transported into the Yakuza universe and you were told you had to perform one karaoke to get out what would that karaoke song be? First of all, who I said I would want to get out . On second thought, I value my pinky so I’d choose this song! Okay enough jokes :P, I’d probably jam this one out with my bros or friends! Or I can have Nishiki with his guitar, saying English one-liners like “WE ARE BAD BOYZ”, “Saving Za Warudoo!”, and having Kashiwagi-san on the keyboard! What was your favourite Yakuza game and why? I don’t think it’s going to be replaced any time soon but yakuza 0 takes that. Yakuza kiwami 2 though came close in my eyes. Reason being is that yakuza 0 was my first yakuza game and it was a unique experience like no other which I didn’t expect much from to be quite honest when I fired up the game. Now any yakuza game that comes out, I have high expectations for and of course in any sequel you’re bound to be doing a few of the same things where the novelty starts to slowly wear off which is why my initial experience with the series is held in higher regards! And also yakuza 0 has some of the best minigames including karaoke, disco, telephone club, cabaret club, and a completely playable Majima with his own story that later on beautifully converges with Kiryu’s story as you are nearing the end. Who is your favourite Steins Gate character and why? Gotta be Kurisu! Most guys are drawn to intelligent girls (bonus that she is a scientist) who sometimes happen to have their own quirks (like the constant back and forth between her and Okabe) and I am no exception! Mayushi and Faris while important to the story, weren’t my cup of tea personally. How many toilets have you clogged, when you super focus your poopoo chi? Haha surprisingly I’ve been living clog-free! We got an A grade toilet over here with a bidet installed Which shoots streams of water like a laser beam to ensure a clean wash . What is your favorite beverage? I haven’t had pop (or soda depending on where you’re from) in years and I hardly drink juice. My go to drink is just simply chilled water. But when I drink juice on the occasion, I gotta go with mango juice! So chilled water or mango juice! Do you know how to play any instruments, and if not, are there any you would like to learn? I do actually! I used to play the trumpet back in high school as part of my band where we would play on various occasions especially during Christmas! Our teacher/ conductor would give me trumpet #1 or lead trumpet most of the time so I was decent at it. The highest note I was able to hit was a double C but I couldn’t hold it for more than 3-4 seconds lol. Unfortunately, I haven’t played the trumpet ever since and I’ve probably lost most of my abilities. Am I sad about it? Kinda but as a trumpet player, you cannot really play at home ( because RIP ears to those at home lol) and I am not going to make a career out of it. It was just a fun elective that I took back then based on a recommendation by my brother who actually is a very solid musician who played the Oboe, violin, guitar, and piano. Hello, PooPooBlast. What did you enjoyed the most: Gravity Rush 2 or Remastered? I’ll choose 2 because of how much of an improvement it was over the first one. It had a better story, a bigger world, more sidequests and many things to do! This sidequest especially had me rolling xD. And who is the sexiest: me (!) or Raven? Ooof tough to call. I’d choose Kat just because I think Raven would bully me around xD. She’s got a mean streak on her! Are you going to finish Borderlands 2? Definitely! I had the 100% prior to the last update and I plan on going back to regain that 100%. I’m just currently playing other games until I get into the mood of playing first person shooters! Will eventually play Pre-Sequel and BL3? Pre-sequel, maybe. I have the game installed as part of the handsome collection. But as I said before, I am waiting until I am in the mood of playing first person shooters! Once you're current location is "Living on the Edge", wanna know if you are a huge Aerosmith fan as I am. If so, list your top 3 albuns and top 3 songs. Also: Tyler or Perry? Lol my location is actually a reference to mirror’s edge opening introduction. But also coincidentally I am a fan of Aerosmith, not a huge fan like you but a just a normal fan who appreciates a few of their songs like Dream on and Livin’ on the edge so I cant really name my favourite albums per se . Check out my top 5 musicians/ osts! I’ll just go with Tyler because to me he’s the face of the band. Pleasure to meet you!! Awesome username, btw! Have you found information from your field of study being misinterpreted in videogames? If so, how? Pleasure to meet you too! Mm interesting question! And sorry if this will bore you but I found it interesting to think about so too bad Actually just very recently while playing judgement I’ve met something that’s a little misleading. They were talking about Alzheimer’s disease and how it’s caused by a build-up of beta-amyloid tangles of proteins which takes up physical space in the brain and causes many complications such as making it to difficult to rid of waste from the cells and also how it impairs memory both of which are accurate so far. Those proteins are literally a physical barrier more or less because these proteins are made of beta sheets which are the most stable type of protein secondary structure so they won’t go away easily and they can even form aggregates which is the dangerous part. In the real world, we haven’t been able to cure this disease. In the game they did supposedly and the way they did it is by finding a way to induce autophagy (auto for self, phagy for eating so it means “self-eating”) in the cells bearing those beta-amyloid proteins. Autophagy is normally done by the cell to rid of dysfunctional components, molecules and organelles to maintain homeostasis or balance within the cell. They said that after autophagy of those beta-amyloid proteins or their removal by the cells, the brain cells can slowly rebuild itself and essentially you’re cured. Fantastic right?! Why didn’t we think of that right???! . Well it’s not that simple… it never is. There are lots of problems with this. Firstly, autophagy is very specific in a cell. While it could theoretically be possible to have a drug that marks those proteins for autophagy somehow, it has to be oddly specific to not make the drug discriminate with other normal cell components so you run the risk of damaging normal proteins. Think of it like chemotherapy. You destroy cancer cells with those drugs, but you’re also destroying other normal cells in the process. Part of what makes Alzheimer’s brutal is that as mentioned, those beta-amyloid proteins have a high beta sheets content which are very stable and hard to degrade. They can even form aggregates as well and even convert some of the normal proteins to misfolded beta amyloid proteins which makes it even harder to break down given their size and constant regeneration by transforming normal proteins so I doubt that autophagy is enough actually destroy those aggregates permanently. In the most common type of autophagy, the cell sends lysosomes which are sac-like and contain lots of hydrolytic enzymes that fuses with the target macromolecule (beta-amyloid protein in this case) to break it down but the problem is that lysosomes could be too small to actually fuse with those protein aggregates! And even then, suppose you destroy the aggregates, an adult brain has limited regeneration capabilities so you probably might not be able to go back to your previous form so you can’t be 100% cured should this autophagy method work! Finally, Alzheimer’s disease is not as simple as having a build up of beta-amyloid proteins. There are actually multiple hypothesises on how Alzheimer’s develops and the build up of this protein is only one hypothesis out of many other equally valid ones! For instance you can get hyperphosphorylation (the addition of extra phosphate groups added) on a type of protein called tau protein which is used to stabilize microtubules in nerve cells! Microtubules are essentially “train tracks” where cell cargo can be moved around in the cell from one place to another and it also provides a structural frame/ support for the cell. So overall, having one drug that could induce autophagy to destroy the beta-amyloid proteins, should it work of course, will not necessarily work for the tau protein hypothesis and it will not necessarily work for other hypotheses out there! Wow sorry I got carried away answering this . Hello there, fellow Yakuza fan! If you were someone living in Kamurocho, what type of denizen would you be like? Or if you felt like joining the yakuza, what family would you join up with and why? Hey! I think I’d be a civilian. Can’t afford to step in this whole yakuza business! I’d probably run a cabaret club with yuki-chan as the manager! But If I was forced to join, then I’ll choose the Dojima family because of how powerful and influential that family seems to be in every yakuza game I played. Makes it more likely you can climb up the ranks and become the chairman once you’re 500 years old and crippled on a wheelchair! (Of course that’s if you survive the shenanigans associated with the yakuza life!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to everyone who asked a question and again to Dragon-Archon for making this possible! Hope you enjoyed reading these! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ And that's it for the interview folks. Dragon-Archon
So that's the origin of your PSN ID. Your brother is a genius. The first time I saw the name, I immediately thought of Ratchet & Clank games, as those tend to have funny weapons. Actually, Insomniac should totally add a gun that shoots poo in their next R&C game . I thought Mirror's Edge Catalyst was a reboot? Anyway, the first Mirror's Edge's ost and theme song are reason I tried the game, it really does have a unique gameplay. Congrats with obtaining 99 stars on the time trials . Kurisu is definitely the best female character in Steins;Gate. The Rush Hour movies are among my favourites too . Clearing challenge 6 in Vanquish almost made me give up too. Day/Month/Year definitely is the way to write a date. I guess the superpower invisibility's weakness would be snakes, since they have thermal vision . 1 minute ago, PooPooBlast said: Had loads of fun answering these. You’re welcome to explain that to me once this interview goes up in the comments section of the thread. fun fact: One of the common uses of piperidine is in the SPPS (solid phase peptide synthesis). which is a very fast method of making custom peptides of compounds with an N- and C terminal like amino acids. Here the piperidine eliminates a protected group which is needed so you don't just get a chain of the same compounds, because that wouldn't be dandy. The reaction itself is pretty easy to atleast understand, if you're interested I recommend a short read on that.

And haha the whole reason I started being serious about fitness initially was to be good in soccer which required some leg work of course to run and kick hard. I also did a little bit of track and field but that was a loong time ago. I represented my school for 200m sprints and standing long jump. And yea actually I've seen the movie! It was a short but sweet one. And haha watching it really makes you feel like a total loser in terms of what those folks achieved. But anyway, I'm currently happy with how I look so I've been just lifting for maintenance and not for gains. I'm already eating about 2800-3000 calories and I don't think I can increase any more else my stomach will probably explode . 1 hour ago, Bumperklever said: But it's very toxic; I mean 100% of the people that dies has been exposed in one way or another to dihydrogenmonoxide -> That can't be a coincidence Memes-aside F. dihydrogendioxide :/ fun fact: One of the common uses of piperidine is in the SPPS (solid phase peptide synthesis). which is a very fast method of making custom peptides of compounds with an N- and C terminal like amino acids. DamagingRob
Your answer to my question should be in the Top 10 Anime Betrayals. Also, The Shenanigan Master, that's who. Great interview, and a fun read. I've always been a cat guy, myself. And pretty much owned multiple every year of my life, so far. Another Gravity Rush 2 lover? So many felt it wasn't as good as the first, and I really don't understand them. And if you ever decide to play The Pre-Sequel...

Mmmmmmm so you're admitting that it's wrong to have mm/DD/yyyy by implying it's based on shenanigans eh? And thanks man! I really love cats but I just can't bring myself to buy one because I'd probably be a negligent owner. Who knows what could happen in the future but not right now I suppose. And yea man! GR2 did everything pretty much better than the first. As for presequel I'm thinking of starting it maybe after judgment so we can get started on that pretty soon! We'll see what my schedule will look like though, come September (that's when my full-time position actually starts). If your time is eastern or close to that then we're pretty much golden if we game in the evening. Edited August 21, 2019 by PooPooBlast

One thing about them is they're pretty low maintenance. Just have to make sure their fed, have water, and a clean litter box. And then give them attention. Which with mine is pretty hard to neglect, since they hop in your lap when they want it. And cool. We'll see if our schedules match up.
