Popular Post Geridian
Hi all, new update from me. As always: Less time for gaming because of job >> Less things to report. The only game I actually played in this time was Killzone, which I've moved from 0 all the way to 41%. I've completed the entirety of the co-op and about half of the first campaign playthrough, and have also finished the weapon grinding in multiplayer. Some of the ability grinding in MP looks to be a proper pain though so it will probably be a slow process of doing it off and on throughout the month. My goals for the coming week are to hopefully be able to set up boost sessions for games on the list I've not yet started, finish Killzone's campaign, and make a push towards finishing GTA IV's story. Do you have a partner for the supply box ability in Killzone? If not let me know, I’m nearly done with weapons and will be tackling the abilities over the weekend. This game was actually harder than I thought it would be... Having to complete the final boss fight without getting hit was really irritating due to the fact that it was so hard to tell whether you had been hit or not. I had to complete the fight each time keeping my fingers crossed that the trophy would unlock. When it didn't unlock I had to go through the credits and then get back to the game which took a few minutes. So glad that is over! For the challenges, after you completed one you had to ring a bell and collect the music note that came out. Being the NOOB that I am at first I thought I had to keep ringing the bell and so I wasted a lot of time and I was getting really frustrated until I figured out I was doing it wrong ? Next game is Batman: Arkham City so don't expect another update from me for quite some time!!! ?
Han_the_Dragon
Well, time for my weekly update, or rather, non-update ? I have essentially been working on clearing some games that I started last year or earlier, so, no progress for this event.. Next week (well, tomorrow), I should start Sly 2, but doubt that I will plat it (I'm soon also entering a "no-platinum earned" phase, so it's unlikely for me to get a lot done soon..)
FreeSpark22
Update - Week 5 (a little late!) Over the weekend I started and completed South Park: The Stick of Truth. I must admit I had a lot of fun with this one! As a fan of the show and its very 'odd' (meaning sick and twisted) sense of humour, some of the references and jokes were really on point. I'd reccomend this to anyone who likes the show. If you don't...then clearly avoid this! The game mechanics are pretty simple and overall pretty easy. The 'difficulty' (if you can even call it that) for the platinum is keeping track of the many missables to avoid having to play through again. Overall, definitely enjoyable and I'm looking forward to playing the sequel at some point soon. Popular Post igs63
Weekly Update #4! I'm a bit late with my update, almost forgot because I've been so busy! But here it is! Last week in terms of event progress I just finished Stranded Sails, locking in my 4th letter for the event. I planned to get something else started but as it turns out I had a lot of boosts (including Batman Origins, so thanks to those here who gave me some advice about it!) going on and was in a bit of a 'finish stuff off' mood so I didn't end up starting anything new. Stranded Sails was quite enjoyable, as I suspected the combat trophies were just tedious as opposed to difficult. Overall the game was quite well done, it probably could have done a bit more to develop the stories of the crew, give them more purpose maybe (the farmer, for example, would rather stand right in front of my farm and watch it die than... do anything I guess) but instead they all stood there, with limited voice lines. It just felt like the game went to so much effort to give them specific jobs and even their houses were very unique depending on their career path and then not use them at all. In particular, we had a blacksmith and I feel like with all the caves on the islands there could have been much more of a mining, building tools and things sort of mechanic but no, material gathering was left the to RNG of chests that spawned in random places on each island, which I grew to hate. There was just, at it's most simple, a lack of even like birthdays or special events to be had with the characters. But this could also be attributed to the fact that there were no calendars, no time limits, no set weeks for quests. It was just a complete at your own pace sort of thing. It ended up taking me about 70 in game days to complete the game I believe, so it's not as long as your typical Stardew Valley type game. There's also fairly little replayability to be honest, so the lack of a calendar also tends to work in the game's favour. If you like this type of game, I would definitely recommend giving it a play, I definitely did still get sucked into playing it for hours at a time. Anyway, enough of that! Popular Post neospoon
Looks like I've finished another game. Valentino Rossi the Game. I've played a fair share of the Milestone Motorcycle Games and honestly this was just more of the same as all the others. Basically a rebranded replacement for MotoGP16. Getting the main stuff done is pretty simple, but the grind afterwards for two mileage trophies was kinda lame. Race for 250km on a flattrack bike. I was pretty much done with everything but had to ride the same race for over 5hrs. Didn't really add anything than boredom to the experience. Some of the Rossi Challenges were mildly annoying but doable. Glad its done. Next up I feel like I want to play a shooter so it's going to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered or Medal of Honor: Frontline. Popular Post cckerberos
Update #1 Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - The modern Deus Ex games are some of my favorites (even though the classic first game in the series has never really clicked with me). I bought this game when it came out on Steam in 2016 and was surprised at how much of the various levels I still remembered. This was my first time playing any of the DLC or the game's infamous Breach mode. The DLC were both short and didn't make much of an impact on me as they were more or less inconsequential side stories. Breach mode was an unnecessary time sink but not as bad as I'd feared. Overall it's not quite as good as Human Revolutions but still very good. It's a shame that the third game in the trilogy is probably never going to happen. Resident Evil - I hadn't realized before starting this that it was a remaster of the GameCube remake. So it took me a little while to adjust my expectations a bit. I had briefly played the PS1 original a decade or so ago but quickly dropped it because of the terrible controls, so at least those were gone. Otherwise, it was good to finally play through a "real" Resident Evil game (I've played VII but that was quite a reinvention). The trophy guides for the game were intimidating as they seem to presume the reader has a fair amount of familiarity with the game but once I'd gotten a few playthroughs down, I really enjoyed it. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Like Deus Ex, this was another game that I had played years ago on the PC. Not being able to use mods was unfortunate, but I have to say that it ran and looked much better on PS4 than I was expecting. The many loading screens were pretty short and not really that irritating. It was pretty much what I remembered: a typical Bethesda RPG with an expansive, but shallow, world. Uncanny Valley - This... was a game, I guess? It was very short and didn't leave any real impression on me. Mystvayne
Completed my 4th game with Horizon Zero Dawn. Really enjoyed this game, I don't know why it took me so long to get around to playing it. Popular Post AuroraHistoire
Bravest Dog, Best Dog ? This week I completed Yomawari: Midnight Shadows & almost finished Yomawari: Night Alone. I played the games in reverse order because I was feeling rebellious. Midnight Shadows also demanded I turn off all the lights and only focus on the screen before it let me play the game; it caught my attention so I wanted to play that game first. Yomawari: Midnight Shadows is a survival horror game. The plot is about a small child named Haru trying to find her missing friend, Yui. At the start of every chapter, Haru gets a general location of where to search fot Yui around town. It sounds easy but the town is haunted. This town is so haunted, on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 13. Most of the ghosts will try to kill you on sight but a few will just mess with you. You also die in one hit. Haru's can't fight ghosts so you need avoid getting hit. You can either try to sneak past ghosts undetected or try running away. Most ghosts you can outrun but you have a stamina meter so you can't run forever. You have a flashlight that will identify any objects you can collect or interact with. Some ghosts can't be seen unless you shine your light on them. You also have the option of hiding in certain obects (like bushes and cardboard boxes) until the ghosts get bored and go away. The enemy variety is very good and they all have their own quirks. There are consumable items littered around the town but most of them are situational useful at best. You save at small shrines that are placed around the map with coins. Coins are very common; I was able to save very frequently and I rarely ran out. If you die, you are sent back to the last place you saved at but you keep everything you found. Yomawari: Midnight Shadows has a lot of boss fights for a game where you don't fight. Most of the chapters have at least one boss fight in them, if not multiple. There are two types of bosses in this game, one where you solve a puzzle while not dying and where you just run away. Most of the fights involve a ball of ghost energy trying to cut your head off with a pair of gaint scissors like it's Clock Tower or Kill la Kill. There is a boss that is just a skull with long hair and skeleton arms that wouldn't be out of place on a heavy metal album cover. It looked so dumb I burst out laughing during the fight. There are a few good boss fights but most of them are not very good. I enjoyed the story. At times I felt the game had too many cutscenes and had a lot of heavily scripted encounters. My favorite parts were when Yui's dog showed up. Haru would always scream "doggy" whenever he showed up. He would also lead the way to the next objective and pick fights with ghosts. Yui's dog is named Chaco and he's a tiny pomeranian. When I say tiny, the cats in the game look like they can eat him in one bite. Chaco is the bravest dog ever. He isn't scared of any ghosts; I think the ghosts are scared of him. The best part of this game is definitely the atmosphere. The visuals are all well done and beautiful to look at. Areas throughout the map look visually distinct and occasionally have their own exclusive enemy types. There is no music playing during the game. Most sounds are ambient small town in the forest at night sounds and your footsteps. The sound of your footsteps change based on the type of surface your walking on and it is very well done. The noises that some ghosts make are creepy. You can hear your own heartbeat when ghosts are nearby and it gets faster depending on how close they are. Your in game map of the town is hand drawn in crayon as you explore. There are a lot of random collectables to find. The games are really great when all you're doing is wandering around a mostly empty town trying to find things. I had a lot of trouble with the Vita version of Midnight Shadows crashing. The game could usually go 1-2 hours running perfectly fine until it crashed suddenly. It usually wasn't a huge issue since I saved frequently but was very annoying. Yomawari: Night Alone is pretty much the same as Midnight Shadows but smaller. Midnight Shadows contains 80% of the first game's town in addition to it's own very large town. Everything I said about Midnight Shadows applies to Night Alone, aside from a few things. Night Alone has a lot less boss battles (2-4 depending on your definition of boss battles), the story feels a lot less scripted and the game doesn't crash every 1-2 hours. In Yomawari: Night Alone you play a nameless protagonist who is looking for her older sister and dog. The story in Night Alone is a lot simpler than it's squeal (despite sounding the almost same) and that's okay. I didn't like how some of the collectables were tied to random events that you can fail. I don't think Midnight Shadows had any collectables tied to random events but there was 1 trophy tied to a random event. Night Alone has this one annoying trophy that requires you to play the game for 50 hours but a slow paced playthrough is about ten hours at most. The full game list is in the spoiler tag. Popular Post Kristycism
Mid-month update...or rather, another lack of anything to really update. Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 1 remains my only finished game to date. I'm getting behind ? Having a list full of URs may have been a mistake after all... I have, however, made good progress on Hitman, with only one more episode left to do, then I'll finally be at 2 games complete! I enjoyed the game for the most part, finding new and creative ways to murder people is always fun...as ominous as that makes me sound. Uhm, we'll just skip over that. But seriously, it's almost like a puzzle, trying to work out all the different pieces to put in place to ensure that your victim will be where you need them to be to trigger the untimely death you've laid out for them. Some of the mechanics are a little weird though - like, why did no-one suspect me of anything when I was following a bald man around with a pair of scissors, ready to stab him? And then after I'd stabbed him and stole his clothes (where are the bloodstains?), I walk around, no-one cares even though he's a celebrity and people should recognise him. But then, I vault over a fence because I cba walking around it, and suddenly all the NPCs start freaking out and yelling at me for being suspicious? Meh, anyway. It's still good fun, even if I'll never understand why the NPCs freak out about little things and not other major things. And I've started Disgaea 3 as well - I've never played any of the entries in this series before. When I first started up the game, I actually thought "oh no, I don't like this...am I really going to have to play through this crap for 80+ hours???" But then, I kept going, and slowly but surely fell in love with the game so much that I'm planning to buy and play the rest of the series after I clear out my backlog enough that I can afford to put lengthy games in it. I don't know what changed really from my initial impressions - maybe I was just in the wrong frame of mind at the beginning. But I've now fell in love with the characters and enjoy the gameplay system, so I definitely won't be suffering like I initially thought I would, and will probably enjoy the journey towards earning the Platinum! Which is always a good thing! I haven't got far yet, mind you, just working through the story on my trains to/from work. I'm also almost there with Mercenaries Wings (which isn't on my list, I'm simply using it for my next milestone plat, which has been holding up everything else for the event). I probably would have been there by now but difficulty trophies don't stack. Seriously, I hate when they don't. If I play on the highest difficulty, I expect all trophies for lesser difficulties too. I shouldn't need to play the whole game again on a lower difficulty when I've already proved I can earn it by doing a higher one. BLEGH!!!! Still, it's a good game in general (though probably overpriced), it's about as close as I've found to a Final Fantasy Tactics game that I can also earn trophies on. The two story routes are completely different too, which is nice, so at least 2 of the 3 required playthroughs for the Plat are distinctly different from each other. Now I just need to grind to level 99 (after I work out an efficient way to do so) and clear the final bonus levels and I'll finally have the Plat! Yay!

Like it not gonna work at all if it's not dark around? It's not a game mechanic as far as I'm aware. You just get a few text boxes when the game boots up for the first time and you need to select yes before you're allowed to play the game.
ArtikSkarab
It's been a while since I posted an update and completed 2 games since last time. Torchlight 2 was really fun to go through. As a fan of dungeon-crawlers, it's a really good game. Good locales and good variety of skills, but the controls felt slightly unresponsive which lead to some Hardcore deaths (which thankfully were reversible through cloud saves). Also, the level 100 grind is pretty boring, though not as boring as the Adventure grind in Diablo 3. God of War 2 was fun to go through, especially since you're able to go through the game on Easy. The only annoyance was with the Challenge of the Gods section, but it was pretty short at least. Next game will probably be FF7, and on that subject, does anyone have a guide/walkthrough recommendation? I looked around, but didn't find anything really well written out. Also, spreadsheet updated. Please make sure that everything is in order on your sheet.

I looked around, but didn't find anything really well written out. Hi ArtikSkarab, finished good old FF7 two days before as part of this challenge and used this walkthrough on gamefaqs: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197341-final-fantasy-vii/faqs/71240 ==> The HTML design is great for browsing through the guide to find the information you need. - Also I can recommend to put some time into farming enemy skills and getting the optional Ford Condor battles done >> You don't need both things for trophies but it makes the experience more complete and some enemy skills are just too good to not get them! - Maybe also use a world map like this one: http://www.ffwa.eu/ff7/map.php and some random stuff on gamefaqs: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197341-final-fantasy-vii/faqs +++++++++++++++++++++++ And now it is time for my new update: Letters complete: D F P Q X Final Fantasy VII is done. I really enjoyed playing this classic RPG before the Remake comes out. Also my girlfriend and I decided to get more out of the FF VII compilation before the Remake arrives, so we will be playing Crisis Core, see the Last Order anime, watch the Advent Children movie and maybe will get to Dirge of Cerberus. Edunstar84
It's the middle of February, and I have to decide which longish game I want to start, so that I have at least one plat for March. I also wanted to start an easy game. A lot of stuff I have to do irl this month though. I might not be able to make my gaming goals.
