National Trophy Hunting Day Community Event! R3

History:

In 1972, by Senate Joint Resolution 117, Congress requested the President to declare the fourth Saturday of September 1972 as National Hunting and Fishing Day. On May 2 of the same year, President Richard Nixon signed proclamation 4128 designating the Fourth Saturday in September National Hunting and Fishing Day.

 

Event:

Therefore, we, as gamers are going to do what we do best and "hunt" (you can fish for trophies if you want, I don't care) and try to earn as many trophies on this day as humanly possible on September, 28th 2019 (12 AM - 11:59 PM US ET) as a community! I am going to set up goals for us as a community and the more trophies we earn as a community, the more $25 PSN cards I will hand out via random drawings! If you can't tell, I upped up the font and the PSN card cash prizes. Because apparently, no one f*&^%ing reads these things! GAHH!

 

Goal:

So, what the endgame here? Ah, it's quite simply really. For every "goal" we hit, I will give out 1 $25 U.S. PSN card (4 cards MAX).

 

100 trophies total = 1 PSN card

1000 trophies total = 2 PSN cards

1621 trophies total = 3 PSN cards (the previous record)

10,000+ trophies total = 4 PSN cards

 

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Please read!

  

Q: How do I sign up and by when is the sign up deadline?

A: Vote in the poll. That's it! You must vote before the beginning of the event! (This is why we read the rules people! I don't know how many people posted "I'm in" last year, but did not vote in the poll. It's so easy... it's literally a click of a button.) If you are interested in helping me count trophies, vote yes in the second question. I won't judge you if you don't want to, but the more volunteers we have, the quicker the results!

 

Q: Who is eligible for the drawings?

A: This is where it gets a little tricky. I'm not simply letting everyone be eligible for the drawing to avoid alt-accounts or anything of the like. Therefore, you must have been a member on this site before 8/1/2019 to be in the drawing. That's it. No post requirement is necessary. Though, if you have multiple accounts, please only use one account in the event to make this as fair as possible and so the number isn't inflated! Also, if you are caught of cheating/hacking/using alt accounts any trophies during the event, you'll automatically be disqualified and all trophies will not count towards the total! P.S. I'm also a mod now and can tell who is using multiple accounts, so don't let me catch you doing it!!!

 

Q: Do I still get to participate in the drawing even if I don't earn a trophy?

A: No, you must earn at least one trophy to be in the main drawing. If I draw your name and you did not earn a trophy, you will not receive the prize. 

 

Q: Do stacks, cross-saves, duplicate trophy lists, etc. count?

A: As long as they are earned legit, you can have as many sound shape plats as you want in this thing!

 

Q:How long will it take to count the trophies and learn who won the prizes (and how many were distributed)?

A: Depends on the number of volunteers I get to count trophies and the number of people who sign up. People can post there total here after the end of the event and if someone else who voted "yes" under being a volunteer confirms it, then I will add it to the excel sheet. The more people who pitch in to count and remember to post their results, it will be done in less that a week.

 

Q: Do I get anything if I get the most trophies?

A: Yes, of course! The top 10 trophy hunters will be put into the OP as the "Top Hunters" for the event. In terms of monetary value, you get nothing for earning the most trophies. Sorry, folks. I do not want this to be an elitist sort of event, but instead as a community event where we all work towards a designated goal! This section is just to satisfy those competitive spirits, but it means nothing. I've also added a section for the highest scores across all of the National Hunting Day events and a 100 trophy club, because let's be honest, that deserves some sort of recognition because "My Name is Mayo" will only get you halfway there (I am so terrible, lol. DISCLAIMER: I have nothing against people who go after easy trophies, and this is a true statement).

 

Q: What if I win a PSN card, and it doesn't work? Do I get another code?

A: HAHA! Nice try. No.

 

Q: How quickly do I need to sync the trophies for them to be in the count? Will you do a recount if it's not in time?

A: I'll give you until the end of the weekend unless you PM me and let me know.

 

Q: Why don't you give out codes from other regions?

A: This is actually a fair point. Grabbing regional cards on different sites can be difficult and time-consuming and is overall kind of a hassle (sorry). You can always make a U.S. alt account and use the card. However, if someone volunteers to trade a U.S. card with me and will give the person their respective region card. I'm game (if you are well-regarded on the site).

 

Q: Will you notify us when the event begins?

A: I had a lot of feedback last year and as much of a pain in the ass as it's going to be to tag 100+ participants, I will tag everyone once the event begins (barring that I am actually present at home at the time the event begins... which I should be?). For some reason my computer explodes or something else prevents me from setting this up, I will just post when it starts, so please, if you are worried that you'll forget (like you did last year! ), FOLLOW. THE. TOPIC. 100% full-proof. Oh, and don't forget to visit the site!

 

Q: Any changes from the previous year?

A: No, not really. The only difference is that now I'm a mod, which just means I'll be moderating my own thread which I would just normally report anyways if I saw something negative, rude, toxic, or nasty, so really, all we are doing here is cutting out a step. Yeah, so nothing has changed.

 

Q: Doesn't this event just encourage people to buy Ratalaika games and earn a bunch of quick trophies?

A: No, no no no no. You are missing the point of the event if you think I am doing this because I want you to play these games. Where did you come up with that idea?!?! You literally need to earn ONE trophy to be eligible for the event, NOT ONE RAT PLAT! Do you see the difference? When I started doing this 3 years ago, I never even thought of games like these would exist, but now, I feel the need to at least bring it out to the open and address it now before someone derails the topic and just kills the entire fun for everyone. You can play whatever you want. This is a judge-free zone, and I want this to be a fun, positive event like it has been in previous years. You like Rat games? Fine. Do what you want. You would rather just play Super Meat Boy? Great, just make sure you earn a trophy within the time limit. So please, before you sign up or post in the event, leave this BS in another thread because I don't want it here.

 

BUUUUUUUT, while we are on the subject, let me throw this idea out for you. This event doesn't happen for 4 weeks so why not prepare games for this and pop trophies quicker than you could Ratalaika games? Not possible? Bullshit. Download Dead by Daylight and save up a ton of blood points and you can literally earn like 15 trophies in 15 minutes. Buy SoundShapes DLC and get like all 40 of those trophies in like 10. crack out the old PS3 and buy Sonic Fighters or Linger in the Shadows and get 25 trophies in 30-40 minutes. Go get uncharted and literally stop before getting a kill with a single weapon in the first game and use the cheat menu to sweep up all the gun related trophies in seconds. Just put in the disc for Burnout Paradise Remastered and play the game for 20 minutes. Same with almost any fighting game. Co-op trophies with a buddy and both sign up for the event and essentially double up. Like I said, this isn't hard with a little prep work and a little research

 

NSFAQ (Not so frequently asked questions) if you need a good laugh, PLEASE READ!:

  

Q: I earned the most trophies; where is my PSN card, you cheap @$$?

A: READ the FAQ DUMBASS  That's not how this works...

 

Q: I PM-ed you like 40 times about this event, why have you not responded!?!?

A: I have a full-time professional job that requires me to work 40+ hours a week, and it has been rough lately. Please be patient.

 

Q: I earned like 6 trophies in this event... Am I winning?

A: You are always a winner in my eyes. 

 

Q: I didn't win a PSN Card! This S*&^ is rigged!!!

A: That's not a question. That's actually a (false) declarative statement. I will post screenshots of the raffle afterwards.

 

Q: Who's team am I on? I don't get this!

A: TEAM PSNP (Always). 

 

Q: You have the total count as 7642, but I counted myself and got 7701. Can you request a recount or update the number?

A: That's a hard NO. The amount won't be 100% accurate as this is done manually so it is prone to errors. If 100 people counted trophies, we would probably end up with 50 different answers! No. No. No.

 

Q: Is this a scam, and can I post my favorite video game quote?

A: Yes and no. Sh!+, I have that backwards, No and yes. No, this is not a scam, and I'm not going to stop you from posting your favorite video game quote, but it will not benefit you in this event whatsoever! 

 

Q: How did you become a mod?

A: You have to stand up, balance a glass of chocolate milk on top of your head and sing the Bikini Bottom Anthem and then wait for one of the mods to contact you. At least, that's how it worked for me.

Lastly, I had an anonymous donor who gave me x2 $20 PSN cards, and it was really hard to figure out how to give them out. Do I just randomly pick 2 people? Do I give it to the 2 highest trophy whores in the event? Maybe draw them for anyone who earned a platinum, an ultra rare trophy, or got over the 100 mark? I decided to make this simple. Whoever, had the rarest trophy in the event AND was eligible for the drawing (created an account after 8/1/2019 on the site) got 1 of them and whoever had the most common trophy in the event got the other. Just a random fun fact that I thought was interesting so I decided to just do it this way. Lucky enough, 2 people who didn't have their names drawn!  The more winners, the better right? And if this happens next year, I'll just do something different to keep everyone on their toes. Lots of silly statistics that I can still pull from the depths of PSNP to decide who gets a random PSN card, right?

 

The person who had the rarest trophy of the day out of the eligible participants was @The_Snooze for earning a trophy that was 1.28% from Grand Kingdom. The person with the most common trophy was @PermaFox with Jack and Jill DX at 99.88%. This is all relative to what it was on 9/30 shortly after the event ended so I am not responsible if these trophies have gotten more or less rare since then so no complaining! (like seriously, we are giving away free stuff here. I didn't ask for an entry fee. ) 

 

Still waiting for Amazon to send me 2/4 of my cards so I will send them in a bit. Thanks again everyone, and seriously, this has been awesome. I wish I could give everyone PSN cards for doing this with me! With that being said, I ended up giving away 4 cards instead of 3 anyways. We did such a great job with a small number that I couldn't help myself!

I always post it labor day weekend. I make sure everyone has plenty of time to sign up and prepare (if desired).

 

Every year, I get close to getting 100 trophies, but I still haven't been able to break through. I have an idea for this year, but I'll have to buy some DLC and a couple of old PS3 games. Linger in the Shadows and Sonic Fighters are easy games (I've also thought about getting them previously) and if I still have my saved file for Disgaea D2, I might just buy the DLC and murder everyone with my ridiculously OP Flonne and get the trophies for that game too. I could probably do all that in less than a couple of hours. Maybe even in 1 hour if I watch a video of linger in the shadows ahead of time so I know what to do in that one. That'd be like 40-45 trophies right there. Lol. I also thought about getting Tekken Tag Tournament and The DBZ Budokai collection for the event, but they are so pricey on Amazon. I'll have to see if I can find a used copy at GameStop or a local game store.

 

I also have burnout paradise remastered sitting in the wings, so I could always go that route again like last year. LOTS of easy trophies you can earn just by starting it up. I think last year I got like 35+ trophies from the PS3 version of the game that day. 

 

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the event and seeing how it turns out this year.

I'm ready for this! My ultimate goal would be to get into the 100 trophy club, but that would be a lot of work with what I currently got planned for that day (Conan Exiles, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Burnout Paradise City Remastered). We'll see what happens.

That's a pretty big leap in trophy amounts between 3 cards and 4 cards, especially with the previous record being so much less. Maybe 5,000+ would be a more reasonable goal for the 4 card drawing?

Either way hopefully I can contribute a decent amount.

Originally, it was just adding a zero to the end of it, but I wanted to give more opportunities to earn cards. Last year we had about 90 participants. My ultimate goal is to get this event big enough to where 10,000 is possible.

 

Though, I do have a "secret" goal not mentioned in the thread and if we reach that, I'll give away another one! (But you didn't hear that from me)

And I have nothing against a US psn card (after all, Syberia 2 is glitched in EU and Puzzle Quest isn't available in Portugal..)

You honestly can't go wrong with Tekken for something like this. Great game and lots of easy, fun trophies. There's a ton that you can do in arcade or practice mode!

I'm the same way too. I normally play smaller games or just games with tons of trophies for this. The important part is having fun with it and to challenge yourself.

Ya, I was thinking the same, that's why I mentioned the Deponia games and Jurasic Park. 

 

But I will be saving the last Deponia game and maybe Jurasic Park for the 2020 unstarted games event. 

 

I also have a lot of quick trophies on Blazblue Centralfiction, Blazblue Cross Tag and SNK Heroines (and likely more games). 

 

But my end target (74+) is a bit of a tall order without rushing.. 

 

If I go the Deponia route without rushing, I will hopefully easily get 2 games done, so 18+34 trophies (I don't want to get any faster plat than my ancient one, so I will get 1 trophy in each game in advance). That's only 52 trophies, so still quite far. But if I do the first 3, I can get 100+.

 

That looks like my best option actually, since each game is said to be a 2-5 hours plat, so it could work (just hope that time to plat prediction isn't like Primal 1 hour for 100%, were it is only 1 hour if we use codes and chapter select, instead of playing the game..).

@dj_helyx has generously offered to add to the prizes. A person will be chosen at random to win a PS3 game. He can only send it to NA addresses, and you can choose whatever game you want from a catalog of his games.

 

If your name is drawn and you do not want the prize, we will draw another name for it. You will not receive any other prize in exchange.

 

BTW, I'm 100% okay with others wanting to add to the prizes for more winners. More winners = more fun, am I right? However, I'm holding each person individually responsible for their own prizes.

 

I will still have someone else draw the names though.

hm, most short games to platinum tend to have 10-20 trophies these days.

 

not sure whats out there that i could use for that day. if i remember my name is mayo had around 50 trophies not sure what other ones around that length i could use that offer that many trophies to reach 100 in a day lol.

 

i'd definitely like to join though for a chance at a ps store card, i would have to find something i can stack for ps4 and vita that offers the most trophies though.

Well, you only need 1 trophy to qualify for the drawing, so even if you don't have any games or much time on that day, you can still contribute to the cause! 

 

Though, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a bunch of people hit 100 or at least a lot of people giving an honest effort.

i see, thank you for clarifying. c: i just didn't want to seem like one of those people who didn't read clearly. lol. i read it a couple of times and still unsure if i got everything tbh. blame having a game app sitting idle, eyeing the TV screen and then the computer screen when reading things.  i read the FAQ's as well which made me really hope i understand.

 

anyhow, that's good to know as well that there isn't pressure to get 100 trophies or more, although of course it would be nice for the sake of the event if the contestants did. i likely wont be able to reach that much, but i will vote in the poll and see if i can make an attempt to earn a trophy that day. sometimes with the long games it can be days before you get a trophy out of it, like in the case of the game i'm playing now.
