or some state of play pre recording?

that would be super lame.

The Game Awards maybe? I dunno. The date doesn't help much.

What are the upcoming events where Sony could do something?

*audience claps and sheers*

I’m kinda expecting the opposite, endless talking about specs nobody cares about but barely any games for it.

A simple YouTube video. Angelic singing as a satin sheet is whipped off a pedestal in slow motion revealing the console underneath.

Either that or by a suit at E3 next year with a release in time for Christmas

Friday 13th november 2020 release date. You heard it here first. Your welcome

First of all, they will show ten minutes of replay footage of Gran Turismo 7, followed by VR card game called "The Body of Judgement". Then Shawn Layden will show up and brag about the creativity of Sony's World Wide Studios by announcing Uncharted 17 and God of War 38, while due "to high customer demand", Anita Sarkeesian being the new Kratos, called Kranita. After some third party boredom running at 15 fps, Sony CEO Shigeru Miyamoto will enter the stage and simply drop the line "899". The paid clappers will drown the venue in noise and nobody will notice the green Xbox keychain hanging out of Miyamoto's pocket.

That's a grim way of describing the Playstation 5.
