I know a lot of people loved the multiplayer in this game, but I just could not get into it.  It was the only thing stopping me from the Platinum in both versions.

 

I will not shed a tear should it not be a part of the new game.

There's always the option of adding it later as DLC especially if people ask them a lot for it.

Please, no.... No more DLCs and ESPECIALLY MP DLCs and related trophies!

I still can not sleep peacefully because of Uncharted 2 and 3 (PS3)...

Sadly I never touched the mp of TLOU, wonder if it was any good. Kinda curious what its like now. Was there the infected on the mp too or just the typical I shoot you you shoot me gameplay. Maybe ill finally test it out next month when its free on plus with everybody else!

If it was any good kinda bummer its removed for part 2. Could see the pain in a trophy hunter standpoint though. But for someone who just enjoys the game, thatll suck I guess...

This is good when it comes to trophy hunting, but a very odd decision overall. The first has probably the best multiplayer in any single player focused game that I can think of. And I know there is a large diehard fan base for it.

People who don't like multiplayer or are just wanting the trophies arent gonna like it but Factions was my favorite mode and I was excited for potential additions TLOU2 would bring (going prone under cars). Would've been dope. Even though I'll do a bunch of runs through TLOU2 this announcement has still cut 100hrs from my playtime

This is the worst news ever. I have spent 3-4 years of my life playing the multiplayer for TLOU (interrogation mode mostly) The fact that they had over 5 years to develop the game and how popular the multiplayer modes were and still are today, blows my mind they didn't have a separate team creating the multiplayer mode. I loved the fact that it was a slower paced, more strategic, crafting, stealth, team based effort etc... compared to the running and gunning of COD, Battlefield & Battlefront. The only thing I didn't like are the burst rifle instantly downing people from across the map, crab walking and the people with modded controllers using the variable rifle.

 

I can only hope they receive so much backlash that they eventually give in and add multiplayer at a later date. Maybe the PS5 version? I know some of you didn't like the multiplayer trophies but I found them relatively simple but again, I played the crap out of that game and still do today so I found them pretty easy to accomplish. This just saddens me to no end.

No multiplayer = No microtransactions ? If this is true, my deep respect for Naughty Dog will only have further deepened. It would be quite a welcome change from the pay to win bs that was in Uncharted 4 survival.

I know and agree where you are coming from but all you need is a good team that knows what they are doing and you'll be fine.

This is such a great news! 

 

I don't get how the Multiplayer is any fun, for me it's just boring, so passive i want to get rid of it in the First one to play the actual game later! I just can't get it how is it any fun, i see like 70% of the Players camping a corner waiting somebody to come and kill, wow that's sooo fun, i love getting punished by the Camping guy because i actually want to go around and play.... Uncharted Online was a LOT funnier for me. 

 

This makes TLOU 2 a lot more interesting in my eyes!

 

If people want it so bad they'll add it later i imagine but i hope with no trophies at all because if it's like the first one, uhg no, so boring....

The only positive thing i can think of is that i'll be able to finish a lot more from my huge backlog, cause having spent over 750 hours in factions alone didn't really help... . But seriously WHYYYYYYYYYY???

Sad to read this, multiplayer in the first game was loads of fun to me. Not a huge deal that it will be missing in the sequel but I would have liked to play some more multiplayer.

Uncharted 3 was solo first and later was given a multiplayer 

 

so i won’t be surprise if it get a multiplayer later

U3 released with MP in it, you might be getting that confused with the fact that the MP became free-to-play.

Yeah 100% this launched with MP they later released trophies for the MP even

A real shame as the current multiplayer is superb - much prefer the slower paced, hanging back and sneaky gameplay compared to most games.

So even though they announced no multiplayer, my buddy (Orochijackson) uncovered that Naughty Dog is indeed hiring programmers for Multiplayer Gameplay for the Last of Us part 2. Job listings are going up. Just search Naughty Dog job listings and you'll see they put up listings over a month ago and as recent as 9 days ago. "MULTIPLAYER GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER (GAME TEAM) FOR THE LAST OF US PART II. NAUGHTY DOG SANTA MONICA, CA FULL-TIME"

 

So have faith my friends. My guess is that multiplayer won't be included on the PS4 version but will probably be added on the PS5 version. That way the fan bases won't be split on the PS4 and PS5. Fingers crossed.

Very disappointed if that's true the MP was probably the most fun thing about TLOU. If they have stripped out the MP for the sequel it's definitely not a day one buy.
