Popular Post Fnee2000
I’ll jump in on KYC this time around. Was busy during the last one. I figure this will force me to play something different every few days. My list: Nov. 1-6 - Persona 5 : Dancing in Starlight (PSV) Nov. 7-12 - God of War (PS4) Nov. 13-18 - Fe (PS4) Nov. 19-24 - Uncharted : The Lost Legacy (PS4) Nov. 25-30 - Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered (PS4) Persona and Fe are a part of my Fall/Winter challenge list. Gives me a reason to get them started. People seem to think that God of War game is good or something ? Been lazy in starting it up and held off long enough. Always been a fan of Uncharted and their stories. Lost Legacy is another game I have been sitting on for long enough. I really enjoy the Assassin’s Creed games. I am playing through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey now. Will be nice to go back to a simpler version of AC in playing Rogue.

Yeah, it might be one of the KYC with less participants so far, but in previous itterrations, there were also about 3-5 people who ended up not participating or quitting halway through for whatever reason. So maybe in this one everyone that signed up will see it through to the end and then it'll be balanced out . 5 hours ago, ArmoredSnowman said: Can you use preordered games, like if I wanted to us Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, but it comes out Nov 15th? Yes, that's fine. The same goes for inclusion of PS Plus titles that technically only come out after the event has begun, but were announced prior. 2 hours ago, Fnee2000 said: I’ll jump in on KYC this time around. I blame TrueTrophies' score challenge on this one, which was basically during the entire dead period between the two KYCs. I'm currently on vacation, but I come back tomorrow so I'll start my first game then.
Popular Post AuroraHistoire
Prelude ~ The Midnight Sanctuary I want to write a little piece about each game I play about how it became part of my backlog. I'll always be writing these before I play the game in question. My goal is to explain my history with a title. I thought I should explain what I'm doing since this my first time. I picked up The Midnight Sanctuary during a sale, with every other game on my KYC list, except 1. I had never even heard of The Midnight Sanctuary before I bought it. I watched the trailer in the PSN store and the game looked... Interesting. The game was only $5 and it would probably be entertaining. I have glanced at the trophy and the game has a high completion percentage; this probably a visual novel? I also noticed the theme tag was horror. I'm not that great with horror games but hopefully the Halloween spirit hasn't left my body ju- Thank goodness, PSNP has saved my reply agan. My power went out while I was writing this and it just came back on. I'm being to believe The Midnight Sanctuary may be one of those cursed games you hear about in creepypastas. If I disappear under mysterious circumstances, blame The Midnight Sanctuary, just to be safe. I wish everyone luck in their endeavours. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #1 - The Legend of Korra (PS4) - Preview Developer: Platinum Games Publisher: Activision Genre: Beat 'em Up Price: Priceless, because it's actually been delisted In typical Activision fashion, their licensed games won't live to see their fourth year on the market. Whether or not that remains to be a loss when it comes to this game, remains to be seen. Generally poorly reviewed, it's not the most enticing title Platinum ever made. To be fair, I haven't played a lot of Platinum's games, but the ones I did play were fun. So maybe there's some hope for this one. I guess, the game is based on an anime that's a spin-off from another anime. I remember watching The Last Airbender, which was solid overall... the live action movie, not so much. Never even thought about watching the Korra anime though. Here's what I'm hoping for. Solid combat that is relatively fluid. All the element bendings integrated, maybe even the possibility to mix and match them. A story that holds it together and visuals that are in the anime style. I wouldn't mind good music either. Oh, and please don't let the controls be shit. Edited November 2, 2019 by voodoo_eyes

Popular Post Kevvik
It begins... Game #1: Sword Art Online re:Hollow Fragment Initial Impressions Time played: 3 hrs The Sword Art Online games are MMORPG simulators based off an anime series. Hollow Fragment is the first game done for the Vita. This game, re:Hollow Fragment, is the PS4 version which came out slightly later. You play Kirito, a gamer who has become a little legendary as he dual wields swords which is virtually unknown. Many characters have been trapped in SAO, a VR MMORPG, resulting in a situation where if you die in the game, you die in real life. You and your friends have fought your way through to the 76th floor where there is a village of sorts, characters setting up shops and trying to work there way to the top of the game tower. From this floor, there is no going back, only going forward. This is anime background story which you can get as exposition later. You start this game by suddenly appearing in a new area of the game (the Hollow Area) where a female character is being chased. She initially believes you are an enemy which leads to a short fight cutscene which ends in cooperation after a weakened version of a floor boss attacks you in the field. A strange symbol appears on your hand after defeating it which the girl, Philia, thinks she has seen before. You fight your way through to an admin area that serves as a hub with a teleporter to different areas, and focal area for conversations with Philia to get quests. It also allows you to return to the main game area in Aincrad here your friends are. In Aincrad, your village area has the usual shops for items and buying/upgrading weapons, a cafe where you hang out and has your room upstairs, a quest board for that world and access to your friends. You can build a party with another character. I haven't gone into that part of the game really at this point. Having played SAO: Lost Song prior to this, I have some story background on many friends but not much on Philia, so despite a bit of exploration in the village, I haven't done much in Aincrad's world so that I can focus on Philia who is a bit of an outcast as she has been tagged with an orange cursor, designating her as a player killer. I'm looking forward to how this story plays out so my focus has been on the Hollow Area. Combat is action-RPG style with a main set of 4 options, attack, dodge, parry, and a skill (currently a stun move with cool down). A shoulder button press opens up a second set of moves (all skills) and shows the settings for the face buttons which are communications to your partner (praise, use heal, use skills and switch which changes who is your up front fighter drawing attention from the main enemy). Combat can be different. It's typical action RPG fare where you focus on one enemy, though there are AOE moves. You have a burst meter which decreases with attacking and restores with rest. It also fully restores after beating a foe unless you are already engaged by another. A fully decreased burst meter decreases your attack stats so moving immediately to another foe results in your power not being what it could be. Switch allows you to back off a bit and recharge a bit but slows down the battle pace. So far, not a big deal unless you stumble into a part of an area with higher level foes. From here, just run as the majority of your attacks do virtually no damage. Asides from following your active quest, you can stumble onto Hollow Missions, more challenging foes where certain conditions may be set to complete the mission. These generally have a bonus item which can be obtained by completion. That's about as far as I've stumbled so far. The game looks great with some conversational scenes and some fully animated cutscenes. There is also a chat system where you can increase your relationship with your friends but the mechanics seem kind of vague so far. It's an interesting world that I'm looking forward to finding out more about. Trophies earned: 1/55, 1% for E rank Score so far: 8/10 Edited November 2, 2019 by Kevvik
Popular Post DamagingRob
Game #1, Day 1- Mary Skelter: Nightmares Didn't play a lot yesterday, and haven't started today yet. But this game came highly recommended to me from a number of people I know. And I wanted a Vita game to play if I'm away from home. Don't know why I bother, though. Half the time the sun makes it impossible to see the screen, and I end up just listening to music. What I learned in my brief playtime, is that this is a dungeon crawler JRPG. Which means you have a first person view, and are limited to moving in 4 different directions. Up, down, left, or right. Combat is turned based, with usual command options like attack, use a skill, defend, or flee. The girls also enter some kind of overdrive mode, when they get enough blood splatters to fill up the bar. Blood splatters occur when you overkill an enemy with significant damage, or by hitting them with an element they're weak to. Possibly other things. They dump a lot of information/tutorials on you early. When not exploring dungeons, there's a hub area of sorts. You just select the place you want to go, and do things. Like buy items, upgrade your equipment, go to one of the girl's rooms, etc. You can give the girls gifts to raise their affection with you, and to decorate the rooms. The story is kinda bonkers. Lol. I don't even remember what all is going on. But the guy you play as is fairly useless in battle. He's only there, 'cause he can keep the girls from going into a state of madness where they'll try to kill anything and everything. His blood somehow breaks them out of it. At first, he was only with one girl named Alice, and they were trapped in a prison. Then Red Riding Hood broke them out. Yes, that's her name. From what I have seen from the opening, they're all named after fairy tale characters. Alice is referencing "Alice in Wonderland." Even has a "Rabbit Hole" ability. Not much else to say. It does have English voice acting, which was a nice surprise for such a niche title and system. And it forces you to close the game to sync trophies.. But other than that, nothing really negative to add. Time played: Slightly under 2 hours. Trophy progress: 2/34 for 2% and an E rank.

Popular Post AuroraHistoire
Watcher ~ The Midnight Sanctuary Have you ever played a game that was so good, you felt it? The Midnight Sanctuary was one of those games for me. I'm still feeling the effects hours later. I didn't consider visual novels to be 'real games'. The Midnight Sanctuary has changed my belief. The Midnight Sanctuary is a mostly linear visual novel. At certain parts of the story, you can choose the scene order. It doesn't have any overall effect on the story. That is all the gameplay you get. The game does have VR support but I don't have the VR equipment. You can turn the game on 'auto' mode and just watch the story. I enjoyed the story so much, I refuse to talk about it. The visual style is so unique I can't describe it or compare it to anything. I can't decide if I liked it or just thought it was okay. It will definitely help me remember the game though. The game has 3D, Metal Gear Solid style, cutscences instead of usual visual novel thing, with the massive text box at the bottom of the screen and the 2D characters. The characters models look pretty good, for an indie game. The animation is good 90% of the time, 10% is distractingly not good. Aside from 5 characters, everyone looks the same (sometimes with slight variation). It forces you to look for the small details and pick up their personality. I enjoyed the music so much, I'd buy the soundtrack. Fortunately, The Midnight Sanctuary doesn't contain a curse that kills you, probably. Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Game #1 - The Legend of Korra (PS4) - Review Time played: between 5-6h Trophies earned: 16/31 I now played and completed the game on medium, so I'll wrap this one up. It's a very lukewarm experience overall. The whole game feels like as little effort as possible was put into it. The story is basically non-existen, the environments are boring, the combat is only serviceable at best. Anyway, let's start with the good-ish, I guess. Visually similar to the Naruto games, but less detailed. The few and very short cutscenes are presented in the expected anime form. Unfortunately the game cycles through about 4 environments in total (there's 8 chapters). All of them with little to nothing in them, consisting mostly of corridors or platforms. They really put zero effort into the enemies though. Essentially just giving the same model a different colour, to specify the element. There are also mini-boss versions of them. Then there's giant Mechs, because video games? Lastly there are shadow creatures, because those don't need to be coloured at all, I suppose. The gameplay consists of sort of 3 different categories. It's main focus is being a beat 'em up with some light platforming elements. Then there's endless runner sections, which happen like 3 or 4 times throughout the story. Let's just say the game could've done without them. There's also a pro-bending mode (also represented twice during the story). It's kind of like dodgeball with a twist. It's boring and fiddly and no fun. The combat is just OK. There isn't really a combo between elements, instead each elements just gets stronger the more it gets used. Which doesn't really matter, because once you unlock the air element almost at the end of the game, the other elements become subpar no matter what level they already are. It's just that broken. You can dodge and counter attacks, and against the mini-bosses you get put into a quicktime event nonsense when you do the latter. This just deals a tad more damage and knocks them back. Other than that, there are random collectibles and a shop where you can buy potions and trinkets that help during battles. It's a playable game that lacks any sort of depths. It's barely a though.
