Wow, how time flies? Looking through my plats list, it feels like I only played some of these games just yesterday.

I started (re)building my gaming library in mid 2005 with the GameCube/PS1/PS2 and didn't get a PS3 till 2007. Of course in the early years not many games had trophy support (actually none in the beginning) and I was still playing a lot of those NGC/PS2 games. Trophy hunting didn't really pick up till I joined PSNP (2012) then I got more serious about it a couple of years later. I kind of took it easy at the start of the year so I don't think I'll be able to get higher than low 20s this year.

i was gonna do mine but the tracking isnt an exact science

like diablo 3 for instance, i plat that game years ago when it first launched on console but i recently went back to it and did the dlc in 2018

So when i go to my profile, click completion, check platinum and i scroll through the years, its in 2018, but when i click the platinum itself, it was earned in 2014

so in short, with that being said, i null and void my entry lol

It's easy if you use the proper method. You're not looking for when the game was completed, but for the year the platinum trophy was earned.

Most Common: Uncharted Drakes Fortune [18.91%]

Favourite: Burnout Paradise - Although Uncharted was unlike anything I'd played before, you just can't beat driving around Paradise City with your friends.

 

2009 - 17

Rarest: Resistance 2 [2.10%]

Most Common: Assassins Creed II [25.25%]

Favourite: Mirror's Edge - Sure getting 10,000 kills in Resistance 2's MP and popping the platinum was satisfying but it didn't really take skill. Mirrors Edge's platinum took skill and determination and holy crap seeing that platinum pop made me so happy.

 

2010 - 1

One and Only: Heavy Rain [13.49%]

I turned 17 in 2010 and started going out a lot so I didn't have much time for trophy hunting. Also, any gaming time I did have was dedicated to Modern Warfare 2's incredible multiplayer.

Rarest: Call of Duty Black Ops [4.25%]

Most Common: inFamous 2 [18.39%]

Favourite: Portal 2 - The incredible voice acting in this game pretty much makes this one of my favourite games.

Rarest: RAGE [4.39%]

Most Common: Tomb Raider Legend [21.15%]

Favourite: The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim - Got to be, hasn't it? I still play it to this day. Amazing game.

 

2013 - 10

Rarest: Metro Last Light [4.26%]

Most Common: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus [52.60%]

Favourite: The Last of Us - This game changed my life and I have the tattoo to prove it.

Favourite: inFamous Second Son - My first PS4 platinum, I adored this game and its story, got a little too invested actually and started wearing a beanie like Delsins; so lame.

Favourite: Alien Isolation - Alien is my favourite film of all time so playing this was just amazing, they nailed everything about what makes Alien so good. Ugh wish I could play it for the first time again.

Rarest: Grand Theft Auto V [1.94%]

Most Common: Virginia [64.33%]

Favourite: DOOM - What a great game, I was actually so surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm actually working on the Multiplayer DLC trophies for this at the moment.

 

2017 - 13

Rarest: Deus Ex Mankind Divided [2.75%]

Most Common: Horizon Zero Dawn [32.38%]

Favourite: Prey - This game ticked all the boxes for an epic sci-fi adventure. Super excited for anything Arkane does next although I hope Bethesda don't get their grubby hands all over their stuff.

Rarest: Skate 3 [1.79%]

Most Common: Telltale's Batman [63.85%]

Favourite: Subnautica - Waited forever for this game and although it was a technical mess, it's still an awesome game.

Favourite: Day's Gone - It got its fair share of hate but the girlfriend and I got super invested in it and loved every minute. Can't wait for a sequel.

Highlights:

-I started collecting trophies (and spending more money on games) in late 2016.

-2017 was my MNIMY (My-Name-Is-Mayo-Year) and also when I bought a Vita, basically doubling my gaming productivity (and killing my book reading/phone gaming).

-I bought a VR set in 2018, adding choices to an ever-expanding library. It's also my YODRG (Year-of-Discovering-Ratalaika-Games) - which I actually enjoy for the most part!

-I'm getting more trophies than ever in 2019. I've thought about it, but I really can't say why it's happening. I still rarely game when the kids are around (which is most of the time), still work full-time... Mystery.

-I currently have a backlog of 927 (!) games I have not completed. I have not earned a single trophy in 598 of those. I really wish we could lend our digital purchases... Sort of waste at the moment. But you know what? I'll buy more games this week.

 

Conclusion:

While being a completist is a disease (for everything that's grindy anyway - the time devoted to it really isn't justifiable), I'm proud to (almost) only ever play games I like, with a huge share of completed games that aren't Platinums to prove it, and also not to be a stacker! Shows I have principles!
