Why'd this game sell so poorly?

It's really sad how games like Assassin's Creed sell millions on multiple platforms on a yearly basis while lower budget gems like this get table scraps. This game sold about 20k copies in North America in it's first few months of release. That's atrocious.

Did this game have zero marketing? Seems like console shooters need marketing to succeed.

I think it's sold a decent amount on Steam in recent years though.

It had a few thing working against it.

-The game was poorly advertised by Sega.

-The poor advertising made it easy to forget when Mass Effect 3 was released just two weeks later.

-The games media of the time was really on about the supposed superiority of western developers.

-It was seen as an inferior clone of more polished games released within the two years prior.
