The Lord of Shadows Collection (game, DLC, plus spin-off game Mirror of fate) is also just the vanilla disc + a voucher code on PS3 so it useless to buy the collection used if you want the whole experience. You either have track down a new copy (which is pretty pricey now) or buy the vanilla game used and pony up $20 for the two DLC (that lasts about 4 hours total) and $15 for the 2D spin-off Mirror of Fate. The DLC is kinda uneven quality, here's the relevant excerpt from a review I did.

Quote

The game ends with an epilogue which jumps past the events of the DLC, the DLC tells the somewhat lackluster tale of how Gabriel ended up at that point.

One of the first things you'll notice when you start play Reverie (chapter 13) is the 3D modeled cutscenes are now replaced with stylized, 2D animation. Truth be told, I almost prefer this change in medium as it is so much moodier and has more personality. Reverie is the weaker of the two DLC as it features some reused environments from the main game mixed with combat and quite a few puzzles and more traversal sections. The main new mechanic is to briefly play as your friendly vampire companion who has her own move set. She can phase through objects, teleport short distances, shoot lightning from her fingers, and suck the blood of enemies to regain health. You only play as her for a few fights and the chapter can be completed in about an hour and a half.

The second DLC is called Resurrection (chapter 14) and is basically 1 long boss battle broken up into 2 sub-chapters. The boss fight is the best in the game as it draws on all of your knowledge of the combat controls as you not only have to roll dodge, but spend a majority of your time doing air combos as that is the only way to reach the Forgotten One's weak points later in the battle. Unfortunately the traversal segments are some of the most annoying and unfun in the entire game. A climbing segment in which being caught by the rising lava or spotted by the Forgotten One will mean a game over. A later section in which you must jump from floating chunks of rock in a river of lava is truly infuriating due to the previously mentioned spotty sprinting mechanic and inconvenient camera placement. Resurrection features both the best and worst aspects of the main game and can be completed in about an hour unless you have trouble beating the boss (he can be a challenge even on easy).

Though the boss gameplay is quite good, the story told over the course of the 2 DLCs is pretty lazy, they put in the very least amount of narrative effort to connect the end of the main game, to the epilogue. If you are wanting to play the main game, is is worth hunting down the Lord of Shadows Collection for the DLC and Mirror of Fate HD, though $9.99 each for the DLC by itself off PSN is far too high for the content provided.

Like others said before, the game was only released physically. Only the DLC was release on PS Store but they never go on sale.

Yes and 20 US$ or 18€ for both is too much for so little content. Inconsistent also why the price of one of the DLCs is lower in Europe. But they never are on sale either, like their US counterparts.

Edit: Correction they were on sale in europe in the Halloween sale of 2017, just recently...

On the US Store, and most likely in all American Stores, the DLC was never on sale. Only the DLC for Castlevania 2 was on sale once like 3 or 4 years ago.

Not quite related to the subject.

Just a little update for those who can't find the DLC's on the US Store: just search Reverie and Resurrection and you'll see them without a context of Castlevania.

Appreciated. About to buy them myself
