Popular Post ifyucantbeatmeXD
top 10 game for me some of the best art direction ive ever seen - amazing attention to detail, animation, colouring, etc. the music is also a top 10 soundtrack for me. hitoshi sakimoto is a legend in my book, been a fan since i played FFTA, and him and his basiscape crew did a most excellent job on the amazing soundtrack both these things really help bring the world to life. speaking of the world i love it, the sense of adventure and the atmosphere in every area is nailed perfectly. the level design is great although there is a lot of backtracking sometimes, but it never gets too annoying plus there's Bronze Mirrors while i dont usually like multiple character choice and multiple endings, they all work really well in this game. the localisation is fantastic and i have no complaints there. the story is well done and the endings are really good. you can feel the passion the artists and writers put into this game i also appreciate that the devs didnt make the game grindy or anything. in fact, thanks to the way scaling works in this game you can just play however you like at whatever low level you want, at ease literally a 10 year old game blows away most modern day games for me, kinda sad really. had the same feeling when i cleared ninja gaiden earlier this year, which is 15 years old my only minor gripe is that it's called 'Muramasa Rebirth'...the original japanese title 'Oboromuramasa' is so much cooler and that's what i've been subconciously calling it the past few weeks if you own a vita and you have not yet played this game you are crazy. i know i was all this time. i had a wii when this first came out but didnt game much during that time so im extremely grateful for this Vita version some tips for trophies i had trouble with: - From the Depths of R'lyeh: one of the last trophies i needed, this took me like an hour to figure out, the trophy guide says stay on the boat, dont fall into the water but i just couldnt get the monster down within time. what i did was equip the strongest Sword (not Longsword) i had, and then just kept using the aerial spinning attack straight down the tentacles and into the water, mash square and you'll jump out ready to execute the aerial spinning attack again, which does tons of damage. then got it on my first try w/ 20 secs to spare this way - They're Swords, not Hammers...: last trophy for the plat, unfortunately i had to grind this out for like an hour...at some point i thought the trophy was bugged bc it took insanely long, and then i thought maybe the PLAYER had to break 108 enemy blades, but it turns out you have to have your blades broken, kinda confusing. it also turns out you cant grind this at a boss and then die and re-do that for quick breaks - you have to have your blades broken and then survive by either winning the battle or fleeing for the breaks to count toward the 108 total breaks. that means just grinding it out in some cave with bomb throwing ninjas and then leaving and re-entering, the save shrine near Izu has a cave nearby with those so it's a nice spot to grind this out...naturally i had to reload my Legend save file for this bc a blade break on Fury is usually a OHKO (i say usually bc of the way you dont die sometimes after a break due to i guess some intentional thing where you survive a break if you were jumping upward into the air while the blade shattering attack occurred) - Thousand Flowers of Darkness + Ascendancy of the Oboro Style: since you need to get all the endings on Fury mode anyway i would suggest just starting Fury mode straight away after unlocking it...that's what i did when i cleared Momohime's story, started Fury w/ Kisuke and then with Momohime again, it's really not hard and saves a lot of time, besides that it's more fun to play than Legend Edited December 16, 2019 by MeteoraXV
AJ_Radio
Glad to see you've enjoyed this game. This one has been on my wishlist for a long time now, just haven't gotten around to buying it and playing it. 40 minutes ago, MeteoraXV said: literally a 10 year old game blows away most modern day games for me, kinda sad really. had the same feeling when i cleared ninja gaiden earlier this year, which is 15 years old my only minor gripe is that it's called 'Muramasa Rebirth'...the original japanese title 'Oboromuramasa' is so much cooler and that's what i've been subconciously calling it the past few weeks if you own a vita and you have not yet played this game you are crazy. i know i was all this time. i had a wii when this first came out but didnt game much during that time so im extremely grateful for this Vita version The problem is a lot of AAA games have a predetermined checklist of things that have to be put in, but what I tend to see is basically a money making scheme. I'm not trying to bash on modern games, because there are some hard working developers out there who put their hard work and passion into their projects. But companies like Ubisoft, EA and Activision are mostly people who have nothing to do with the games themselves, who are just there to provide a little customer support and reach a profit margin. These companies aim is to make as much money as possible, everything else comes after. They're big and stupid. Back to topic, Muramusa looks pretty challenging. Going to try to find it very cheap, although that is becoming more difficult since the Vita has mostly been dropped by Sony. ShadeSplit
I never had a Wii, and this was the one game I had been waiting for from that era. Needless to say, I bought it immediately once announced. I even ended up with two limited editions. There are occasions where I'm sure a game is going to be one of my favorites, and this one did not disappoint. I've held back on playing Hell's Where the Heart Is because I just hate the idea that the game will be over. I can only hope someday Vanillaware decides to make a similar game. The DLC bundle was also on sale for 3 bucks, picked that up immediately. Still need to finish the plat, though. It's a challenging game. I did the speed run but now I don't know how to get back into it after such a long time off..

Chaos mode is the actual hardest difficulty, but since you barely ever have to touch that mode outside of beating the final boss on Chaos mode to unlock Fury mode, it's not a major issue anyway i do wonder why the plat for the international version is at 2.80% rarity, while the japanese version is at 11.55%, on this website anyway. that's quite a large difference, more so than usual i think lol Edited December 16, 2019 by MeteoraXV

Startyde
I agree with OP 100 percent. I play a lot of games and Muramasa, esp Rebirth w DLC, is in my top 10 of all time. The gameplay loop is fast and fun, the presentation and attention to detail second to none, but what suprised me the most was the writing. Especially the DLCs, the storytelling is very good, drawing on Japanese mythology and augmented with an incredible score a cross all episodes. Like the sword it's named after, Muramasa seems to be doomed to not receive the attention it deserves and I hope it gets one final 4k port with HDR and all DLC to PS5 one day.
Remilia Scarlet
Muramasa is a masterpiece of gaming and my favorite game on the Vita. I loved the game on the Wii but this version is far and away superior.
