EVERY game has people like that, literally. I don't play many games online, but every time I do, especially in an older game, it looks like this: a bunch of more-or-less-noobs/people-in-it-for-the-trophies and a few guys (or gals, who knows) who have clearly played this game A LOT, I mean hundreds if not thousands of hours. Some have 100% in the game, some mostly multiplayer trophies. A fresh example: had my PS3 hooked up today, so I went to get some of the multiplayer trophies in Medal of Honor. MP in this game is mediocre at best (and incredibly crappy in a certain mode, which is the most popular...), yet there were some people who clearly devoted an incredible amount of time to it. Some people just play it because it's fun for them for some reason. Then I look at myself, I play Tekken 7 online a lot and if trophies wouldn't exist, I wouldn't even touch story mode. And while T7 has a lot more depth than 99% of games and definitely more than some mediocre military shooter, I kinda understand why some people just play a game they like. It's simply fun for them. Just like T7 is fun for me, the one game that I've played for hundreds of hours after getting all the trophies.

It's all relative, here we all think that people care about trophies, on PC forums people tend to think that everyone gets high on the fastest and most expensive hardware and audiophiles think that real sound starts with a $100k setup... the reality is that most people just buy a device and play games they like. Sometimes it's 15 games a week, 15 minutes per one, sometimes it's 5 games in 7 years without even touching single player campaigns.

Maybe not every single game, I've only seen 1 random on quantum theory in the 9 years I've played the game

I kind of look at it as a double-edged sword. I don't doubt that if it wasn't for the hardcore players that have played every single day for years then the servers might have shut down already. However, it does deter new players from its multiplayer as 80%+ of the players are quite literally top of the leaderboard. To even be mediocre in a match, I had to put in quite a bit of time to even stand half a chance.

I watched a YouTube video earlier this year where the guy went online into various popular games on the PS3 (GTA IV, CoD, etc.) and asked why they were still playing. The answer was more often than not due to not having much spare time. I personally would have thought it was due to not having much disposable income to be able to buy a PS4 or X1. Doesn't seem to be the case here as these players (at least since I've played the multiplayer over the last month) are on every single day.

Brutal Legend, Doom 3, Hawx, and numerous other dead games are still up. The pro randoms in Bad Company killed the player community, as well as team killers.

Agreed. Not really experienced team killers, though.

Winning isn't really the point of the fun to be had, but it's nice to be able to have half a chance. I really think some of them use mods as well. Their accuracy is ridiculous and the DS3 just isn't versatile enough for the speed and accuracy they're shelling kills out. However, getting a melee kill on these top players is certainly sweet.

I think the sniper rifle has perfect accuracy when fired without zooming in the scope. If you put a piece of tape on your TV at the exact center, you'll be able to know where your sniper shots will go.

I was extremely good in BF3 and was called a cheater, modder or hacker on daily bases when I played years ago. I can say for a fact, that those moves are doable in BF3 and a DS3 controller, however, I have the feeling that BFBC is extremely laggy. Therefore I can't understand how they move that good too since everything is crappy on my screen. I have seen the pros miss a couple of shots which they should nail if they had a bot going for them. So I think they are just extremely good and not cheating.

Yeah, I think you're right.

I'm at about 5k kills. Gotten there over the last 4 months or so and am taking it at my own pace. Sometimes I'll do 1k kill sessions, other times just 100. It doesn't matter when I play or what time of day it is, there are a couple of players that are nearly always on. Probably haven't seen them on at most a couple of times. I'm guessing it's a leaderboard thing for them. It's just a strange game to be obsessed with, considering BFBC2, BF3, etc are all out on PS3 and have more depth to them. Playing the same game and the same two modes every day for 10+ years when server stability is now completely terrible... ?

Battlefield, just like Call of Duty is very popular among people who don't give a shit about singleplayer in games. When I was playing Call of Duty daily, I knew a guy who never finished any campaign in the entire series, but I've played with him in a team for over 3k hours.

This, most online games have dedicated communities, trophy hunters are in the minority. On my old account I had over 52k kills in bf4, I’d probably still be playing it if DICE didn’t nerf everything that made it fun.

This community is nuts. There are people in this game with over 7000 hours played on a console exclusive military FPS. A lot of the top 100 elite players (who are STILL active today) have between 200,000-600,000 kills. For comparison, one of the worst grinds in this game for trophy hunters is 10,000 kills, a feat that takes around 250 hours to achieve. They know every tactic there is in the game, be it choke points, head glitches, invincibility glitches, instant death sniper kills with perfect accuracy, laser beam assault rifles, tank spawn traps, or being expert helicopter pilots (plus many more). If you want to boost this game, realize that you will be DIRECTLY COMPETING WITH THESE PLAYERS, unless you can lock a lobby (which we have done successfully multiple times these past few weeks).

Lol I miss the regulars of this game.

I used to be one of those regulars.

This account: 10,004 kills

Anaheim_Ducks: 10,164

My friends account that I did for him: 10,002

Total: 30,170 kills

Favorite weapon was Specialist class AKS74u. The best gun overall, fast fire rate, almost no recoil and the sights were easy to use.

Never knew about glitches.

But yeah, it's a fun game that still holds up.

i was #1 with the 9a91 gun with kills until the website was abolished and leaderboards for guns were taken down.

i actually got internet for this game. this was a alternate to call of duty, it had vehicles, you could destroy and collapse buildings. for its time it was like why would anyone even play call of duty when this existed. this game was about aim, you had to have a good aim because the heatlh meter is bigger. but in clal of duty it always felt like the skill was i saw you first so you died first.

the maps were awesome. conquest was laggy and some maps were unstable but you could have a relaly long match sometimes. the game was really about skill unless you were a quickscoper. even doing that though required a certain skill but it killed the game

i use to take my ps3 to my sisters house. i had dialup at the time so i never played online. this was even before this game had trophies. i hooked it up to her cable and i was immediately hooked. i spent a entire week at her house before she found a cheap internet place by me and suggested i leave and get my own internet. so i did lol. i continued playing only this game for 2 years straight. even when trophies came out nobody cared about trophies. it was about trying to be the best every match you played. i would play before work, after work, after i performed at concerts, when chicks fell asleep at my house id climb out of bed and play lol. i played the game nonstop. it never stopped being fun. we always found ways to make the day fun. shooting tracer darts all over the car. glitching landmines to put down hundreds of them and freeze the server. putting down hundreds of c4 charges. doing the mortar glitch just to make people wonder wtf is going on.

eventually at one point bf3 came out and whatever they did to the servers the game became unstable. on top of the quickscopers scaring off the new people it became alot of dead matches that just werent fun anymore.

i met alot of people across the world i played with everyday and still friends with some to today. the past 10 years i never found a game like bfbc1 where i found that many regulars who i became friends with. everyone in the top id say 300 knew each other.

as far trophies its not really a trophy game, they were patched in later. its a game pre trophies people just played for fun. eventually you have so many stats in game that they dont even display correctly. i dont think even dice knew it would become that huge of a game

also bfbc uk forums were a great place to hang out at and share screenshots until ea decided to force everyone to use battlelog and origin. ever since then i havent been able to login to any ea games that have logins because my email for ea games is different then my psn email. the penalty for being a lifelong gamer i guess

heres my final stats http://bfbc.statsverse.com/stats/ps3/melodicmizery/

  • Score:2,434,400
  • Kills:105,059
  • Deaths:59,098
  • K/D Ratio:1.78
  • Time:1480h 42m

  • Games:8,497
  • Wins:5,227
  • Losses:3,270
  • W/L Ratio:1.60
  • Dogtags:14,008
  • Teamkills:2,953
  • Average Lifetime:1m 15s

  • at the time i quit i was around the top 100, i think last time i checked i was prob in the top 300 still

also xm8 was the best gun next to 9a91. not only could you heal yourself, the gun was fast, decent ammo, powerful, and had a grenade launcher to get rid of walls. i liked the 9a91 because it was only on some maps, it was faster then the ump and more accurate and more powerful. you could empty a mag into someone and they couldnt even have time to fire back. and massive headshots

And nice stats, I was too focused on getting the badges and patches to play. Ended up screwing myself over and died more than getting kills.. It was the kill 5 enemies in 2 seconds patch that I kept on trying to get.

I have only 5,800 kills, but I've consistently held my own against the randoms and usually finish in the Top 3. I found the Spas-12 shotgun to work best for me, because I'm totally okay with only getting 1-2 kills per life if it means getting 20+ kills a round. Shotguns are also one of the only ways to counter instant-snipers, which is definitely the meta for BFBC 2020. Not too many people play the specialist class anymore; most play one shot snipers, M16 assault or the Spas-12/NS2000 shotguns these days.

thanks for taking the time to read it. there was one badge that i absolutely hated. if i recall it was the survivor badge i think? it was the one where you had to kill a enemy who had like less then 25% health. so essentially you had to kill someone as he was being killed. i had played hundreds of legit hours and never got it. i think the total number of times i finally did end up getting it was prob less then 20 after 1000+ hours. and the trophy i hated the most was the fucking boat trophy. that game is not boat friendly at all. theres only one level on conquest you have a shot at doing that trophy because nobody uses boats on the same side. its not logical to use them when trying to capture a flag. funny side story, on the uk forums there was actually a boat clan! lol! these guys were looking for recruits to join their clan to strictly just be in the boat and patrol the water. it was hilarious because nobody ever was in the water. but they patrolled it anyways. which made their team lose from lack of firepower. i think the 5 enemies in 2 seconds if i recall was easiest done killing a full vehicle while others were near it. so youd kill everyone in the vehicle plus the explosion would hopefully finish off someone hurt by it using it as cover. but also this is when the servers were fresh and full of players and full.

i have a few matches recorded on a "potato" i had a old camcorder with tapes i use to set up and try to attempt recording my old tube tv because not everyone had hdmi yet. but they werent my best ones. one time in conquest i got over 600 points within only a few minutes but the match ended as quick as it started. i often wonder what my total points would of been that game. i had knifed i think 18 people in a row but all our flags got taken. i think i could of easily got over 2000 points that game which would of been insane. to break 1,000 points was hard to do. i made a kind of cool collage once on my 500 mhz computer of matches i had compiled together. i tried to make it into a music video with a bunch of different songs to each clip. but youtube eventually flagged it for the songs a few years later

there was a guy colaturka i played with. he always used the support kit which was odd. i could never beat his score. as much as i played he would come on every other day to play one or 2 matches and i would play like crazy and he always was number 1 and i always was number 2. so he would lead and i would follow and be his backup. he always loved conquest. one time we were in a dead server 2 vs 2. he said cover him he was going forward. i remember watching him go up to a small wall crouched behind it. what we didnt know was a enemy was on the exact other side of the wall right in front of him. when cola poppped his head up, coincidentally the enemy did at the same time. neither knew they were right in front of each other. cola shot him right in the face and said omg did you see that? i said yah fro my angle it was even funnier lol

another match that stood out was this guy florian i use to play with. his name was fluflo at the time. we were in a crate match 2 vs 2 defending. again for some reason the game didnt put anyone in our server. we played this match for i dunno 2 or 3 hours watching each ticket go down one by one. i was defending the crate and fluflo was scouting the incoming area. the other guys didnt give up, they played the entire match trying to get our crate. im glad they stayed in the game. we ended up winning. it took a tremendous amount of aiming and skill because when flo died i had to kill the other 2 people because if we both had to respawn then they could take the crate. at the end we were like holy shit what a match

there were boring days we had knife matches. youd get a invite from someone saying were having a knife match only fight. and everyone would only use knives. your timing had to be perfect because the game has a slight lag. a couple times we actually got all the top 100-300 players in one match for one side vs another. or sometimes the top players would all try to get on one side and face a entire clan. it was really hard to get everyone in the same server but the few times we did was golden. i wish someone had recorded those.

there was also a guy named riddimexpress. he was a beast in the helicopter so anytime he was online we would play oasis and he would fly and i would gun. but if we couldnt we would just play a regular match. one time we both got over 100 kills in one match with the ump gun. it was amazing we just barely did it because the tickets ran out. i cant remember if we did it in the same match together or in 2 matches. but i remember thinking omg we just legit killed over 100 people on our own each in one match

there was a very unique glitch called "the butt scoot" that happened to me on accident and was extremely hard to duplicate. i cant remember how to do it now, but it had something to do with calling a missle drop i think it was, maybe with the recon class? if you did that and got in a vehicle to quick i think it was, the game would deform your character and cut it in half and he looked like he was sitting on the ground and would slide everywhere with his ass. it was funny as hell and he could actually go in the water as long as it wasnt out of bounds.

This thread gave me the giggles. I’ve seen the same players play this game 8-10 years ago are still playing it non stop today. Being in Australia has benefits I’m in between the US and the UK so I usually wait for them to sleep .. if they sleep.  But these middle easterners .. they really mess things up.. just let me kill my alts in peace ?.

I get about 1 good hour in a day where im by myself.. realllllly makes a Grindy game so much grindier.

Now where i have the platinum, i can confirm that the bad company veterans these days are mentally ill basement dwellers. As soon as they find out you want to go for the trophies they start teamkilling you and spawn camping until match is over.

But as soon as I reached 9k kills , I started to get my revenge on those sad individuales who cant afford a new game for 12 years now. I started stealing or blowing up their beloved helicopter or blowing up my own crates when they were on a spawn killing trip (of course i watched out that no normal player was in the match). They instantly went insane because of that and tried to chase me between the only twice functional servers, while constantly teamkilling me and making the server crashing after they got kicked for that. So good luck going for that platinum. You will have to constantly deal with those sick individuales. This is truly the worst platinum you can go for as there is no other game i know where you have almost no chance to evade the lifers that still play like in this game. And you surely will spend months on this!

Its really sad what this once great game has become. It seriously should just shut down forever as its almost unbearable to watch how this game has become a shell from its former state.....

I'm really wondering, if EA ever decides to remaster Bad Company, will those players play the remaster or still stick to the PS3 version? :D

Thanks.

Oddly, I asked myself this question too. But i dont think they cant afford a new console. When this game one day dies. Those lifers will end their life too i guess.

Lol those die hard Bad Company fans also probably think we are mentally ill basement dwellers who are tainting the game by trophy hunting instead of playing.

What makes me laugh is that EA still can't figure out why Bad Company and Bad Company 2 have so many die hard fans.

I still play it from time to time, but I lost my touch.. When I was decent at the game I got like 33-35 kills 10-12 deaths per match. Now playing against the die hards and not many players online... its like 5 kils 17 deaths.

All online communities are like this

youre always gonna find a handful of players than have mastered the game inside and out and they just stick with it And play it to death

its like the belt holders in fight night
they want all the glory to themselves

they will literally log into their account once a day For years on end to remain the champion

or when i was Playing playstation all stars battle royale, every opponent i matched against was max level at 999, the game wasnt even that enjoyable, why are people still playing at max level, i dont even think i hit level 20 before i unlocked the platinum and deleted the game
Thats just to name a few

There are always lifers in almost every game, but bad company is especially problematic as there is almost no way to evade those and all online trophies requires a lot of online playing. The only option is to find 24 boosters  (some might have bots) to fill a lobby, but even then it will take forever as everyone need to show up first and then you still need to make the randoms leave.

Hiring a specififc guy who has 23 PlayStations with this game was thankfully not necessary (way too expensive) at the end as enough boosters showed up on the saturday boost. (Btw Those boosters are always looking for new players so check the boosting sessions)

For Fight night: thankfully it shuted down and the arrogant owner of the belt has to find a new meaning in his life.

Yes one of them wrote me exactly this. But I replied him that you can at least experience more and new games as an hunter instead of sticking for years on the same game while it is slowly dying. You also dont have to use cheap tactics (spawn kniving) on other players just to stay on top leaderboard in a game nobody cares about anymore.

Goddamn is that how it is now?

I remember when I was boosting long time ago, we would all try to get into an empty server. Whoever entered a blank server would notify everybody and we would all join, 5 vs 5.

Do the 5 kills in 2 seconds patch and then everyone picks an enemy teammate and do the mine kill boost.

One person lays down a land mine and the other person kills the guy who dropped the land mine. Then kills himself by shooting the land mine.

Do this over and over and if there's a random.. Everyone just leaves and 1 designated person stays in the server till the random gives up.

yes it is like that. Only 2 servers working and every additional server crashes after some minutes (you lose your progress of this round with this). So you cant escape the lifers besides locking up a server with 24 boosters (I recommend) or of course hiring this guy with 23 ps3 and and copies of this game (I don´t recommend).

I guess this game slowly fell apart after 2015 with less and less working servers. I remember this game went fine back in 2012.

I forgot I still need to finish off BC1. Am so close with only 4 awards left and just need to find a way to get With My Devil Dogs.

Haven't played in about 8 months but if I could place a large bet on who exactly will be playing when I load it up, I feel I'd be a very rich guy.

Some of the lifers in the game are alright. I can't remember exact names but some of them are incredibly good, but they play in a decent way also. I can't remember his name but the guy who is #2 on the leader boards killed me quite a bit but I got kills on him too. If he killed me I felt it was fair and he deserved the kill. It's the sniper cheesers that really grated me. Unfortunately, from the time I started the game to the time I decided to take a break 8 months ago, the number of these cheesers had increased a lot.
