Popular Post ZoutjeNL
A quick update! Not on the Monday this time around. I managed to complete Life is Strange for the School category! One of the games that I specifically bought for this event. That makes it only 2 left! Infamous is next (hopefully won't take too long). After that I need only a couple Crowns for Monster Hunter, with the time left it should be doable to finish all of them! Popular Post Kristycism
Having to re-organise my entire list because...uhm, I planned badly and tried to do more lengthy games than was reasonably possible. Plus I got sidetracked by other games, as always. So, new list with all categories complete (yay!): Lose the Weight: Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God (Udon) Focus on Family: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons ✅ Update Relationship Status: The Sims 4 Go to the Gym: Hitman ✅ Find Time for Yourself: LittleBigPlanet 3 Get a Better Job: Mercenaries Wings (you work as a Mercenary, and receive payment for your services at several points during the game) Finish Your Masterpiece: The Last Tinker: City of Colors ✅ Volunteer More: Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Do Better In School: Claire Make More Money: Akiba's Beat (In For a Yenny...) I'm pretty sure they all fit the categories? Wasn't sure about Sims counting, but other people have it for the Relationship category too, so I guess that's fine. Only one is maybe Hitman? I'd personally count Agent 47's physique as chiselled. Especially when you see him in T-Shirts, like the stylist disguise or his Sapienza outfit. If he doesn't count, then FF12:TZA can be moved there (Basch should definitely count), and I'll finish up Tales of Xillia for Volunteer More. Quick thoughts on games in spoilers just to avoid stretching the page - there will be no actual spoilers within because nobody likes those to come up unexpectedly! 9 Spoiler I actually enjoyed almost every single game in this event, for a change. Normally I force myself to play through something I don't enjoy just to be able to complete events, but this time they were almost all great: Sorcery Saga is absolutely hilarious at some points - the dialogue literally had me bursting out laughing and frightening my dog! Plat is a bit of a mind numbing grind, but the game itself is brilliant and I'd highly recommend it! Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is really well made, and even though it's my second time playing it (first was on iPhone) I still choked up at points. Don't want to say more because spoilers, but anyone who has played probably knows what I'm talking about. The Sims 4 I rushed the Plat yesterday using the amazing quick-plat walkthrough on the site just to get the trophies for this event. I normally play Sims on PC as it runs better and is easier to use, though, as the controls are just annoying on PS4. So I probably won't continue playing on PS4 and will stick to PC. It's exactly what you expect from the Sims, which I personally find enjoyable. Though I'd recommend that anyone who wants to pick it up does so on PC like me, since it's so much more enjoyable that way. Hitman was a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. I mostly just played it because it was a PS+ offering and I like to try out new series through that. But it's surprisingly fun finding creative ways to kill people without anyone seeing. Getting all the trophies was a bit boring, but the first playthroughs of most levels is very good fun, and I'd definitely recommend picking up this game, even if like me you usually suck at stealth, as there's always fun ways to do things that require less skillful tactics! LittleBigPlanet 3 would probably have been a very enjoyable experience as I love platformers, if it wasn't riddled with so many bugs, some of which are game-breaking and force you to start over from scratch (like, when the marbles decide to not appear on the statues and you can't unlock the later levels in the worlds). Like seriously, how did this game pass quality testing? I expected better. If you don't encounter too many bugs though, it's a good game. But you're likely to encounter bugs, so......probably avoid this one. Mercenaries Wings is a great little FF Tactics clone. It has two separate story routes that take ~15h each, and each route is completely different both in terms of the story and the characters who join you along the way. You really need to think about what you're doing in the combat on some stages, as it's easy to get overwhelmed and die on higher difficulties - something I personally appreciated. Though the price is very high for the digital version on PS4 for some reason - so if you enjoy these types of games, Switch has a more reasonable price. Because it's quite a low-budget game though, there's no voice acting at all. And some of the music is very irritating when it's on loop. But other than that, I'd highly recommend this game and find it a shame that so few people have picked it up so far. The Last Tinker: City of Colors was alright, nothing special but a decent experience overall. The platforming is a bit too simplistic for my liking (though, somehow I still died on several occassions) and the game overall is probably better for a younger audience than an adult. But it was still enjoyable enough for what it was. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age seems to split long-time FF fans. I personally always enjoyed the original and it was one of my favourite PS2 games I ever played, so I made the Platinum my latest milestone (trophy #6000) to show my appreciation. It's a completely different, more serious setting than previous entries in the series, which some people seem to dislike. Which extends to the characters too - where FF games tend to be quite quirky and have a variety of character archetypes, FF12 goes along a more serious line and the characters can come off as bland. But I personally just think they're more human than other FF games and therefore more relatable. Still, that's not for everyone of course. But the main way this game shone for me was the sidequests (namely the Hunts). I love when I can just do other things for so long in a game that I forget what the main plot was even about by the time I finish, and this game had plenty to keep me occupied! Claire I had already played both on PC and on PS4, so I just speedran the Vita version to get the trophies for this event. It's a decent indie survival horror though for those that are a fan of the genre. Akiba's Beat I picked up super cheap in a random store at some point because I liked the colourful cover. It's a kind of wannabe Tales of/Persona hybrid game. It's nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed it for the most part. The characters are all obvious stereotypes, but the game doesn't take itself seriously so it kind of works, and the interactions between the characters are hilarious at points. That's the main area the game shines really. The rest is serviceable at best - the combat system is like a slower version of Tales of games (which are already slow) and gets quite boring until faster characters join your team later, the story is fine and keeps you interested enough though it's nothing spectacular. But the dungeons terrible - it's basically a bunch of squares connected by straight lines that you have to spend eternity walking along just to get to the end of each dungeon, and they're all practically the same other than the background image, which gets tedious very quickly, especially when the game forces you to reenter old dungeons with pitiful enemies over and over just to advance the story. If they'd at least made it feel like new places each time it wouldn't be so bad and I'd probably have really really enjoyed the game, but they kind of soured the experience since they're such a big part.
Popular Post Cassylvania
What I thought would be an easy game turned into one of the longest ones on this list. I was originally going to have Hundred Knight count for the mini-game category because I thought eating enemies was...well, a mini-game...but it turned out just to be a spamfest. And extremely unnecessary. So, instead, I'm going to put it into the job category. Why? Well, the Hundred Knight doesn't receive an actual paycheck (and now neither do I -- thanks, coronavirus), but he's contractually obligated to serve Metallia. I guess the plot of the game is that if you help Metallia with her tasks, she'll free you from servitude, but I forgot I was even relevant by then. If anybody needs a better job, it's HK. Popular Post Cassylvania
The quarantine trophies continue. This time, I did Indivisible, which turned out to be a really great game. I'm going to slip it in the family category since the plot revolves mostly around Ajna trying to avenge her father's death (not a spoiler since it literally happens at the beginning of the game). Oh, and she gains a lot of friends along the way who become like her new family. It's all so very wholesome. Popular Post gruffiiti
Monday Update: Finished up Bully on the weekend. It was probably my 3rd or 4th time playing through this game and I still enjoyed it. It does feel a little dated being a release on last gen console but once you get used to the controls and some of the crazy camera flips its still a lot of fun to play today. I don't know if we will ever see a Bully II but if it does drop one day I will be picking it up instantly. Small change for Find Time For Yourself. I figured this may motivate me to finally figure out which of the sketches glitched on me and hopefully knock this game off my incomplete list. It's a small part of the game, but necessary for the platinum.
Starrk_01
Update #8 (and most likely the final update): Was able to finish off Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which can be put under Do Better in School. I have also finished AdVenture Capitalist which can be put under Make More Money. To be honest this was a good event to help me focus on some of the games I had on my backlog. I got 7 out of the 10 completed which I can say is an accomplishment in itself. I was personally just hoping to get to five.
Popular Post ZoutjeNL
Managed to complete my 9th game! InFamous Second Son. A decent exclusive but compared to the previous titles I played it was nothing outstanding. Either way only Monster Hunter World left with about 6 days left to obtain the final 6 gold crowns (3 monsters, Kirin; Kushala Daora and Nergigante). It should be doable with the builds I use. The quests only should take a couple minutes so I just need to get lucky. I already saved up a bunch of investigations. I wanted to make Monster Hunter World my #30th plat so it was reserved for some time. Lets praise the sun and get lucky! ? Popular Post Cassylvania
I seriously wonder how I would've even got close to finishing this if not for the Coronavirus. Anyway... As usual, I got to the last two categories and wasn't sure what to play. I decided to play Medievil because I thought if it wouldn't work for the mini-game category, I could at least put it in Make More Money. After playing it, though... I think it could work for both. There aren't any relaxing mini-games, like fishing or bowling, but there are a lot of puzzles and sections of levels that basically function as a mini-game. There's a chess puzzle, a whack-a-mole dragon boss, a section where you're trying to lead a mouse through an alley of cats, a flying obstacle course pirate ship... You know, completely normal stuff like that to break up the gameplay. Popular Post SpaceCoresDad
Well, with time running down, it doesn't look like I'm gonna complete another game by the end of the month. That's fine, I already have the badge, but with the games I completed over March, they don't seem to fit anything, lmao. DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal were fantastic, but with what I already have, they don't really fit much. Unless you count the romantic relationship between the Doomslayer and his super shotgun, haha. I did get one thing though! 1979 Revolution: Black Friday was a fun little jaunt after so much ripping and tearing. You play as a photographer, and a big focus of the game is learning about the 1979 Iranian Revolution through these pictures, so I think it fits Finish Your Masterpiece pretty well. Final results: Lose the Weight - Death Stranding Focus on Family - inFamous First Light Go to the Gym - God of War III Get a Better Job - Valiant Hearts: The Great War Finish Your Masterpiece - 1979 Revolution: Black Friday Make More Money - Need For Speed Payback So that's 6. Nothing special, but at least I went slightly above and beyond. Great event as usual. Looking forward to seeing how everyone finish it out!

Popular Post Beyondthegrave07
Granted, it doesn't make a bit of difference at this point, chalk up Infamous first light for the Focus on Family category for me. That brings me to 6 completed games. The game was pretty good. It was a lot shorter than I expected and was surprised to see the karma system removed. With that being said, neon powers were my favorite in second son so I was totally okay with a side game for Fetch even if some of the core mechanics were stripped to their bare bones. The story was pretty meh. I feel like I would've done a lot of things differently if I was Fetch, but I guess brains isn't part of her super powers either. Overall, it was a nice little break from other games. I'd say if you enjoyed the other infamous games, you'd like this one. Han_the_Dragon
Finely finished Shenmue!! Was starting to think that I could finish it before my extra gaming would would end for the first time in quite a while.. Ya, I'm essentially talking about P5R, sadly my stay with P5R will be short, since FF7R is just around the corner and it's likely more risky to postpone that one.. Still, don't expect to play much anything else other than those 2 for quite a while.. My final standings (10/10): Lose the Weight - Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Focus on Family - Jurassic Park: The Intruders ? (? full series) Update Relationship Status - √Letter Go to the Gym - Under Night in-birth Late[st] Find Time For Yourself - Final Fantasy VIII Get a Better Job - Shenmue Finish Your Masterpiece - Persona 3 Dancing in the Moonlight Volunteer More - Rainbow Skies Do Better in School - My Hero One's Justice Make More Money - Guilty Gear Xrd - SIGN- It's quite funny that this is essentially the reverse of my last year entry (9 plats, 1 100% game, vs 9 100% games and 1 plat) ?
