I believe a little intro is necessary, and who knows, maybe others may be in a similar situation so they can see how I decided to "solve" it.

At the end of 2016, I promised myself I would drastically cut down how much I spend on games. The main reason wasn't to save money, it's a nice bonus though, not going to lie, but to be more responsible with what I buy. It reached a ridiculous point where I was buying games just because they were on sale, deep down knowing I will very likely never get to play them. I owned around 1 000 games across various platforms. I had so many games I will never have enough time to play them all. It was time to put an end to it. I needed a fresh start.

I decided to sell all my old consoles (dating from Atari, Commodore, etc.) and whatever physical copies of games I had. Mid 2017 I bought PS4 making it my only gaming platform (occasionally, I still play on PC but it's rare these days). At this point, my PS4 library is around 150 games and pretty much half of it are games from Plus. It is too many already so in 2018 I stopped buying games unless I was going to play it within a month.

Here's the breakdown:

2018 - $90

2019 - $45 (plus I got EA Access 12 months for $30 - that's a steal!)

2020

03-01-2020  - Batman: Arkham Knight - Season Pass (PS4) - $6

This is both a great and terrible idea at the same time lol.

January

-FF7R - Digital Deluxe Preorder - $79.99

-Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition - $12.99

Total = $93 (rounded), not ic

While still working on backlog, I'm missing a Baldurs gate style RPG and saw PoE was on sale and always wanted to try it.

FF7R was always going to be pre-ordered, I just waited until the new year.

Lot of coin spent in January so far but not overly worried as I dont see myself purchasing too many new games on day 1 this year (this means savings!) and I already know I'm skipping out on my usual purchase of MLB the Show (generally drop about $80 for the deluxe and maybe an additional $20 for stubs to get started) so kinda breaking even at this point.

Shiren The Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate - $11.99

428: Shibuya Scramble - $ 9.99

Code Realize: Winteride Miracles - $15.99

Period Cube Shackles of Amadeus - $11.99

Dreams - $39.99

April:

Grid (2019) - $13.99

Motorsports Manager (PC) - R$17.99 ($3.40)

May:

Persona 5 - $7.99

July:

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution - $27.99

how did you get this?

I have been monitoring since we got the game with PSPlus and the Season Pass has only been down to $9.99.  I assume US and Canada have the same sales?

Interesting.... I'll bite.

January 2020

Ace Combat 7: $29.99

Kingdom Hearts 3: $14.99

Outer Worlds: $39.99

Yakuza 0: $9.99

Tropico 5: $7.49

Total: $102.45

But I was gifted $45 dollars worth of PSN funds. So in reality my total was $57.45

Outside of CyberPunk I most likely won't buy another game this year due to my backlog that has another 8 games in addition to these on it, and just general life. So if I buy that new (although I'll most likely get a discount) that will be less than 100 bucks on gaming in a year. Not bad for the wallet.

that’s what they all say! ? as gamers we have this horrible thing inside of us no matter how hard we resist we have to buy games that we won’t play for quite some time!
