Hints and Tips on Platinum

After finally platting this extremely awful game, I realised there wasn't very good descriptions on the trophy requirements, and hardly any information online regarding how to achieve some of the trophies.

I have put together a quick list with a few hints and tips for this game.

I realise this isn't a very popular game at all but since obtaining the plat on it, thought it would be best to compile a few hints on how to get this game completed as quickly as possible, to move on to a game more worthy of your time.

This isn't intended to be a guide, just some useful information on the game trophies.

> LEARN ALL MINIGAMES (In quickplay mode in one sitting)

Sounds self explanatory, but the handling of some of these minigames are terrible and hard to figure out. Once you've got the hang of the individual games, the trophies for winning the Strip Mode and Competion mode will be easily doable in 1 playthrough respectably.
Doing this will pop the trophy for 'Quick quick'.

 

>> SLOT MACHINE

A very simple game. Just choose a payline from the left hand side and hope for the best. There are 4 rounds to a game.

 

>> BINGO

This version of bingo can be very easily manipulated by pausing the game as soon as the balls appear on the screen. This allows you to move your curser to the ball you need before the AI can, un-pause, then select the ball straight away to grab it. This makes the trophy for winning Bingo in under a minute a breeze.

 

>> ROULETTE

A familiar casino game - just choose 4 numbers to bet on (this should eventually come in and net the trophy for 'Winning Number!'.

 

>> BLACK JACK

Again,  a simple game. Just choose the 'Double Down' option until you hit 21 then the trophy will pop for 'Perfect Double Down'.

 >> RED OR BLACK

Another very simple one. 5 cards. Just choose either red or black correctly for a complete round for the 'Lucky!!' trophy to pop. 

 

>> DARTS

A very poor minigame in my opinion. Aiming is awful - as is the button prompts. It took me a good few minutes to actually throw a dart in the beginning as I had no idea what the game was wanting me to do. After picking up the controls (holding X, throwing the Vita forward and letting go of X at the right moment), I was able to see where my darts where aiming. I just adjusted where I was initially aiming to get the bullseye nearly everytime. My aim was just to the left and down of the bullseye to make up for the 'aim time' when the Vita is lunged forward to release the dart. A bit of practice and you should have this done ASAP. This is where you will get the 'Bullseyes!' trophy.

 

>> BACCARAT

Another simple card game where you bet on the outcome of the game. Choose Player, Bank or Tie correctly 3 times in a row to achieve the 'Lucky At Cards' trophy. Just another luck based trophy that shouldn't take too long at all.

 

>> GREYHOUNDS

Easily home of the worst trophy in the game. Try to get your ball in the 5 point hole 3 times in a row for the 'Thrower!' trophy. This game is another which utilises the Vita's movement controls. This trophy took me the longest to achieve and it is just down to aiming perfectly. once you hit the 5 point hole, try to throw the ball in exactly the same way 2 more times to get 3 in a row. That's it, there is no other input to this tedious trophy.

 

>> TEXAS HOLD 'EM

Probably not what you were expecting in a Texas Hold 'Em game but nonetheless - an easy trophy. 'The Fate' is earned by not picking a single card and letting the game choose for you when the timer runs out.

 

>> VIDEO POKER

For the trophy on this minigame ('Ooops'), choose to 'raise' your bet with no hands on show ie - no pairs.

> PLAY THE STRIP MODE

You should be fairly comfortable with all the minigames now. Just play through this mode to get the related trophies and reach the final casino.

Before you roll the dice, wait untill the chips pop up on screen 5 times so you can grab them with your curser before they dissapear. This is the best way to earn the trophies 'What a Reflex' and 'Gunman'. As the other players could roll a 1 or a 2 and enter a casino within a minute, this voids the random chips until you are on the gameboard again. There is no time frame to roll your dice so just wait until you have popped those trophies before continuing.

 

AFTER OBTAINING THE STRIP RELATED TROPHIES, restart the strip mode, roll your dice, hope to land on a '?' symbol to steal money from another player, then quit game. If you do not steal chips from a player on the first go, pause, restart the game and go again. This is the quickest method for this trophy. If you carry on the game, you could potentially play 3 more casino games before attempting to land on the correct symbol again.

Don't worry if you run out of chips as you will be reimbursed with 1000 chips if you run out.

> PLAY COMPETION MODE

Just play through and win the games on this mode to earn the related trophies. Shouldn't be difficult after learning the different game types and completing the Strip Mode.

Any tips for winning 3 times in a row on strip? Getting beat by someone getting a 32x on black or red is super annoying.

As crap as it sounds, I think this is one of the trophies that you just have to hope for. I think I got mine fairly early on, but after a few tries. 

 

Keep trying and if it doesn't happen, take a break from the 'game' and try again. Sorry I don't have a specific hint for this one.
