Popular Post DarkLordSHTR
UPDATE The first details of Dead by Daylight's new Silent Hill package appeared. With the package, characters like Pyramid Head and Heather Mason are added to the game. There is also a new map. Konami is reportedly reviving the Silent Hill series with not one but two new instalments. According to Twitterer Aesthetic Gamer - who has accurately shared Capcom leaks in the past - publisher Konami "reached out" to developers a couple of years ago, inviting pitch ideas to bring the series to life once more. One game is thought to be a "soft-reboot" of the franchise, whilst the other is rumoured to be an episodic adventure similar to Until Dawn. "In other news while I'm dropping this stuff, and I think I can talk about this, I'll mention there is a couple new Silent Hill games in the works," Aesthetic Gamer stated. "Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic TellTale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot. I don't know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami's given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed. "This is just a guess, but I'd say there's a high chance one or both of those titles may be revealed this year, but we'll see. I don't actually know their plans or anything about these games other than their existence though, I don't know much about the inner workings of Konami." Horror specialist site Rely on Horror also reports it's heard from its "own independent source that a Silent Hill project is in development". Chuck in reports that Kojima's working on a new horror game and the recent news that Silent Hill 2 art director Masahiro Ito's now a core member of a new horror project that he hopes "won't be cancelled", Silent Hill fans might finally have something to look forward to. It might also explain why Konami's been quietly refiling lapsed Silent Hill trademarks, too. While it might seem preposterous that Konami would work with Kojima again following their public falling out a few years back, anonymous sources I trust have anecdotally intimated to me that over the last year or two, the ice has thawed between them. But regardless of whether or not Kojima is leading a new Silent Hill game, it's all sounds like very good news indeed for horror fans. Amazingly, secret features are still being discovered in the original PlayStation 2 version of Silent Hill 2 almost two decades after the seminal psychological horror game was released, too. Twitterers punk7890 and Bigmanjapan discovered that a secret mini-map and a Save Anywhere feature can be unlocked once players have completed the game and received the Dog Ending. A group of volunteer developers and modders have also been quietly enhancing and improving the PC release of celebrated psychological horror, Silent Hill 2. Popular Post Stargazer2600
oh, look. two games id love to play but I refuse to give Konami any money after they basically gave us all middle fingers on silent Hills and that thing with Kojima. Sorry Konami, the boycott is still on. oh well
Popular Post BlackSabre500
I really hope the Silent Hill games will be good. The fact that Konami cares little when it comes to video games and puts more effort making slot machines/pachinko machines, i'm always feeling uneasy when Konami announces a new game for an old IP.
Dreakon13
I just looked and I'm not sure how accurate it is... but Konami has barely done anything since MGSV in 2015 except Contra Rogue Corps and some anniversary collections of older series (Castlevania, Contra, etc). They could surprise us but what're the odds, if the rumors are even true, that these Silent Hill games end up being any good. EDIT: Oh, and even when they were making games... the last few Silent Hill releases (not counting P.T. since I'm thinking we want to give Kojima a lot of credit for that one) were pretty dicey right? Homecoming, Downpour and the HD collection? Edited January 27, 2020 by Dreakon13

Homecoming was actually good. there was a lot of deoth to that game and I dont think konami did that one. wasnt that done by I think double helix?
You
If true, I guess shitting all over Metal Gear Solid and Contra wasn't enough for Konami. They have their work cut out though, after shitting all over Silent Hill with the arcade shooter, Vita and then Pachinko version. I wonder what travesty they will do next.
Intoner_Zero
Too much rumour-ish BS to believe, no thanks. Supposed SH episodic adventure, oh god no. Edited January 27, 2020 by Bittersweet

kenseizenkai
I just want Silent Hills, dammit! It's that too much to ask?!
StraightVege
Between my strong aversion to Konami, and the mediocrity of Homecoming, Downpour, and the HD Collection, it's difficult to be enthused about this rumor. Cynically slapping the "Silent Hill" title on games made by entirely different teams, which have nothing to do with the core members responsible for the originals? Not very exciting. On the other hand, I would be interested to see how Kojima could expand on the PT concept.
Ptirle
I would like the Remake of the first game, it is by far the scariest game there is, SH 3 is maybe a tiny bit scarier because of the more detailed "Otherworld". I want it to have everything that the original had but with today graphics and some added things. I really thought that Buepoint Games were making it, but it seams that it is Demon Souls remake that they made after all. To me SH ended with SH4:The Room, everything pass that is utter bull, more or less... Silent Hills was good concept and maybe am in minority here but I dont think it would feel the same or better or scarier that the first 4 games, but it would surely be way better then the games after SH4. But who knows, Masahiro Ito from Team Silent and Kojima could really make something special, and if they bring Akira Yamaoka, that would be ecstatic. Milktastrophe
But Konami doesn't make real games anymore so these are coming out for mobile phones, right?
Lonemankane
I have little hope for it but I couldn't careless, am glad they didn't do silent hills as I feel crazy cult of kojima does not need to touch the silent hill games, if anything just ask sony to get up from their asses and tell them to make siren 3 already as the siren team are able to make good horror games and action games too.
FawltyPowers
I don't care about the politics. If this rumour is true and the game releases and it's really good and not stockpiled with microtransactions / lootboxes / multiple season passes or an unnecessarily shoe horned multiplayer, I'll buy it, otherwise, I won't. Bloodytears1666
Will be optimistic and hope for a all new Japanese studio with fresh names and full of talent. Otherwise, something like Climax or P.T. could get straight to a garbage can for me. I'm not gonna hit myself again, like 5th time. Decent, but not impressive, isn't about high standards of original Silent Hill games.
GMZ
That's good news to me despite all the hate for Konami, i love the series and i hate to see it dies but of course i would hate to see a bad Silent Hill game just for the sake of reviving the series. Quink666
I'm a hardcore Silent Hill fan but i have no faith in Konami anymore. I'm not even a little excited for this. An episodic Silent Hill? Really? Kuck Fonami!

I would probably pass on the Silent Hill games as they would probably make 1 of them First Person, which to me kills the immersion.
