Small update before the event starts. Cleaned up my original post to be less wordy + added Final Fantasy 7 remake. Ended up pre-ordering the deluxe edition. April 10th you'll find me on the couch with my eyes glued in wonder at this game. Also the 11th... and the 12th... yeah, let's just say I'm dropping whatever I'm doing to 100% this game. Therefore it will make the list, because it WILL get the platinum treatment.

Hey everyone, very excited to see this event getting started, looking forward to all of the updates already.

 

This isnt really an update yet though, I just "restyled" my list a bit to make it easier for myself to keep track of everything and I also decided, since the fall/winter challenge has ended, to add 2 more games. I originally planned to complete HZD last month but I got a bit sidetracked by other games...again. That being said, let me actually introduce you to one of those distractions aka my latest addiction: Dauntless! Never expected to like this game as much as I do tbh but I'm afraid that both me and my social life are well beyond saving right now. I just kinda hope that adding it to my list will take away the guilt of not playing HZD from now on ^^ I still want Horizon to be my 50th platinum though, hence why I carried it over to this event. I'm just glad dauntless doesn't have a plat so I can't screw it up.

 

I do realise that completing everything on my list does start to seem pretty unrealistic at this point, but I guess I'll just stick with it for the time being. I'm really looking forward to all of these games and I don't want to remove anything just yet. I'll just try to complete as much as possible and see where that will bring me in the end.

Started and finished Life is Strange: Before the Storm today and I didn't really enjoy it all that much if I'm honest, most of it felt really cringey.  It was nice to start off with something quick and easy, but I really wish there were more dialogue options and more depth to the story.  I also got really bad motion sickness during some of the walking scenes, especially around the junkyard, and I don't recall experiencing that in the first game.

Yay! it's started! I am going to make a start this coming weekend. Sorry to all for my lack of updates so far - I've been a bit behind and if i'm honest in a bit of a funk. I've just about had it in me to mindlessly grind out stuff in Battleborn, which isn't even on my challenge list. Basically, I had to say goodbye to my cat of 11 years a week ago and it's been pretty devastating so i've been a bit all over the place. Haven't had much focus for anything at all really. Things are slowly getting back to normal for me (well, as normal as can be) so i'm really looking forward to jumping into this challenge asap.

Finished Illusion of L'Phalcia today and thoroughly enjoyed it, definitely my top KEMCO game so far   It had the best characters (especially Cougar) and a really good story, I liked the battle system and the trophy list was fairly simple.  I'd say one of my only gripes was lack of being able to skip the battles to the end and there seemed to be a lot of things - like no encounters - that were locked behind an actual paywall rather than in game points like the previous KEMCO games I'd played.

 

I've added Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Warriors All-Stars to my list too, I imagine the latter will probably take me quite some time to finish but figured I can mix it in with other things

Got some progress on the board! It doesn't appear to be a whole lot so far trophywise, but for the past week my time has been mostly spent on grinding out some mastery levels in Dauntless. Also played a tiny bit of Bioshock 2 since I really wanted to give it a go for a while now. Little bit of a rundown in case you're interested in my experiences so far:

Already talked about how much I've grown addicted to this game. Never expected this to happen tbh, especially since I'm usually not the biggest fan of RPG's. I feel like they tend to overcomplicate things for the sake of variety and choice I guess, but having to keep track of dozens of different items/weapons/armor and all of their different effects, playstyles, perks etc. usually just start to bore me out rather quickly.

 

Dauntless does a fairly good job on this though by making things quite straightforward when it comes to creating a build, all while still offering a great deal of variety to keep things interesting. There are 7 weapontypes, each coming with a very distinctive playstyle and moveset tied to them. Bringing a different weapon to the same behemoth will amost completely chance the course of the fight, thus creating a bigger learning curve, something I do enjoy, and making it less repetitive when you sometimes have to grind out the same foe for some specific parts.

Not really sure what my weapon of choice is so far, I feel like I'm starting to get quite familiar with the sword and chainblades but I do really enjoy playing with the axe as well, even though I tend to really get my ass kicked by the stronger behemoths while operating the latter. I also kinda try to maintain this habbit of defeating every behemoth solo at least once before fighting it with a group. Not that fighting with a group will always autowin you the fight but I like to set this sort of "challenge" for myself and it's definitely more immersive and fun for me to take on these beasts alone the first time fighting them (even if they absolutely destroy me ^^).

 

Is everything perfect? Surely not. Consoles suffer from some frame rate drops now and then and some hitboxes, both on you and on the behemoths, definitely raise a few questions. Quests and story aren't really anything to cry home about either but that is kinda to be expected from a game like this of course. Nothing that bothers me too much so far so for now the climb to reach mastery level 40 doesn't really feel like a grind at all but more of a convenient side-effect of just playing and enjoying the game. I'm level 26 so far so over halfway done already anyway. Rest of the trophies are for completing 1 mastery card, defeating some top tier behemoths and for upgrading one weapon of every type up to level 10, all things I expect to come naturally when grinding out the mastery experience so no worries there.

 

I realise I'm perhaps fanboying a bit too hard on this game by now, but I just really enjoy playing it and I strongly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in giving it a go!

 

Bioshock 2

Having played the masterpiece that is called Bioshock a while ago made me really impatient to dive into this one as well. Definitely not dissapointed so far, even though I didn't really manage to get a whole lot done. Mainly because I'm a huge sucker for exploration and a bit neurotic when it comes to making sure I literally searched every nook and cranny for (mostly useless) supplies, but also because there's this nasty feature where you can apparently only have a max save file size of 500 MB across both B1 and B2?

Didn't realise this untill 20 minutes in when I suddenly wasn't able to save my progress. Tried to delete a bunch of my saved data which didn't change anything untill I read a forum post which made it clear that I actually had to delete some save files from B1 in order to be able to save my game in B2. Pretty dumb feature imo, no idea why something like this would even exist in a 2016 remaster but I'm glad it's fixed now at least. Had to replay those 20 minutes again unfortunately but I suppose I should consider myself lucky seeing as some people actually lost hours of gameplay to this issue.

 

I'm really loving the game so far though! Can't wait to play some more.
