Popular Post Patrickosan
Ok, I've beaten up the UN mode and it's not as hard as you would thing it is. But you need to play it on New Game+ with all upgrades! That's the most important thing! Playing it from the scratch will be pain in the ass and will take you forever. You also gonna need all weapons with full ammo upgrades for last boss as it is the biggest bullet sponge in the game. But lets go down by the list, point by point so it's easier to read for you: BEFORE STARTING ULTRA NIGHTMARE ON NG+, MAKE SURE YOU CHANGED YOUR DIFFICULTY ON YOUR LAST SAVE TO ULTRA NIGHTMARE! You need to play on New Game+ with all upgrades! Don't even thing about playing it from the scratch. I'm not even talking about Ironmade mode, because that would be pure madness. Focus only on main missions! There will be a point in the story where you have to reach level 5 with each NPC. Do this on the easiest outposts, gas stations, road blockades and goons places. Avoid at all costs Authority Sentries (the can one shoot you) and Muties Nest (the don't drop feltrite so you don't get your HP up). Use Icarus for traveling, don't waste your time with a car or a bike. Make sure you Defibrillator is fully upgraded as you will be using it all the time (you gonna die a lot). Don't forget about Infusions, especially the Health one. You will be using it all the time, so have it upgraded to the max. If you run out of Infusions, go buy more from a dealers or just craft them. When you will die you will be starting from last checkpoint/save. This also means that Defibrillator will be automatically restored, so use it to your advantage (like go straight for groups of enemies, use overdrive, kill as many as you can, die eventually, get up with defibrillator and go hide somewhere). To be honest you should have upgraded all skills, especially Constitution. Use you abilities! Shatter and Slam are great for fast elimination and Vortex is great crowd control skill. Also use your barrier in tight places, because when enemies go through it they get stunned for couple of seconds. If you have other DLC's, please do them before starting NG+ on Ultra Nightmare. The Chocking skill on is pretty good and helpful when your abilities are on cooldown, but upgrading overdrive to 15x multiplier is much more helpful. Sword from Terrormania can be a lifesaver on the last boss. If you can, please get it asap and upgrade it by playing whole dlc, it's not long. Best weapons are (at least for me): Assault Rifle + Shotgun for normal enemies and Pulse Cannon for Crushers. It's the basic trio I was using whole game. Mostly because ammunition for AR and Shotgun are everywhere and for the rest of weapon it's not that common. Rocket Launcher seemed to do very little damage to enemies, especially crushers so I didn't bother using it (only if I run out of ammo on other weapons). For the last part, when you will be storming General Cross HQ, you will want to have Hyper Cannon (precision rifle) too, as the Authority Enemies (those with jetpacks) weak point is only a head and with Hyper Cannon it's only like 2-3 shots. Take your time at this place as many enemies wont be chasing you so you can always go back a little and take your breath (if area won't close of course). LAST BOSS: Ok, this is where the "fun" begins... Up until this point everything was doable without too much hassle. But last boss i a giant bullet sponge. If you die you start over and it take forever to kill him. You need to start the fight with as much ammo as you can get for all weapons and also having fully upgraded sword from Terrormania can be really helpful. Try saving as much ammo as you can during the fight. In the Phase #1 (where he smacks with this hands and you have to shoot those blue cores) use your Pistol and some less popular weapons (keep AR and Shotgun with as much ammo as you can). Don't jump and stay in the air as you will get hit by those rockets he shoots all the time. Just run and stay on the ground and you should be fine. Keep you Infusions at high number. If you start running low just craft more from the menu. Sword from Terrormania can save you a lot of ammo because it has unlimited charged ranged attack. Just charge it with and release the "wave". It won't do much damage, but it will save you some ammo for later parts. After Phase #1, authority enemies will show up (muties + jetpacks). Use your abilities on them and for the jetpacks enemies, keep your distance and avoid their line sight (hide behind those 2 big columns if you can). Shot them in the head to kill them quickly. After Phase #2, cyborgs will show up (after killing normal enemies). This is where you have to go full throttle. Spam your rockets at them, use overdrive, spam abilities. You have to kill them as quick as possible as they will kill almost instantly if you don't pay attention. Use Overdrive, Abilities and Health Infusions, as you probably won't kill them that fast. If you kill cyborgs you are almost there. You just have to destroy core on his head. I seriously run out of ammo on all weapons and he was like 1mm on HP bar left. If it wouldn't be for sword from Terrormania I would have to repeat whole fight, so ammo management is crucial on this fight! I think those are the most important things to keep an eye out during playing on UN. Like I said, until last boss everything is doable without too much problem. You will be dying a lot, but there are checkpoints almost everywhere so you won't go back much. Last Boss is the biggest pain in the ass here, as you can run of out ammo pretty easy if you don't manage it. I beat whole UN on NG+ in like 5-6 hours and I'm not some FPS hero. Hope you can do it!
