PlayStation cancels PAX East attendance

PlayStation cancels PAX East attendance due to coronavirus concerns.

PlayStation response:

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.

NaughtyDog response:

We’re so sad to have to miss PAX East! We were really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your reactions to the demo. Although we know this makes the wait until May 29 a bit harder, we appreciate your understanding. Don’t worry, we’ll have more to share closer to launch.

I’m honestly not surprised. Thought I’m also thinking that their next attendance will be them showing the PS5.

I don't think it is them being concerned about getting the virus in Boston,  I think its more to do with a potential PR fallout if they were to be the source of a sickness at the convention.  I imagine a lot of travel and staging personnel are at a greater risk of getting and then bringing it over.  Now add 60,000+ people in close proximity and then dispersing.  I may be way overthinking it but that is the angle that seems most plausible to me.

Why didn't Square Enix cancel its attendance? They could've released the infamous FF7R demo on PSN, but they chose to troll us again :awesome:

I agree, though even that angle isn't terribly plausible to me.
