I ve spent around 30 hours to plate it, but... come on, not only that damned left behind feathers, especially some of the wagon challenges and the Rextro arcades can deserve a 5/10 at the scale. Great game, by the way.

I would say 5/10 is a bit excesive to be honest. I agree the wagon challenges and the casino arcade take some practice but if this is a 5 i would say impossible lair is a 9 or a 10

By the way luckily you didnt try and plat it on release because there were some plat breaking glitches which playtonic soon sorted unlike some devs (yes im talking about you avalanche with your broken mad max game)

?? The sequel would still be around that area even if the first game is a 3/10.

Avalanche Studios most definitely did fix majority of the issues the game was being reported for. Many people reported positively after the latest patch, and I had no significant issues with the trophy list when I played the game last year. You want to talk about a real broken game that would objectively be Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled, a game that has been plagued with an unbelievably wide variety of issues since launch and still going, despite having way more patches than Mad Max.

Impossible lair i would say is a 7 max but im saying if the first game is a 5 no way impossible lair is only a 7, thats my point

I also mean playtonic sorted the glitched trophies for people who should have already plated the game and only made them replay a small part of the game to acheive the plat.

On the other hand avalanche never did this and maybe now if you restart the game from scratch and replay another 40 hours it may be fine (even then still some people say its glitched.

Also i have plated crash nitro kart and me or no one else i have seen have had any trophies glitch on them

It's not a 3/10 for me, it's harder. But I am old, the younger Boys can handle the difficulty better, I think.

The only part I remember being completely bullshit was this one dark crystal cave area where the floor was either slippery or just extremely hard to land on in general, and even that you can break with the flying power.
I'd give this at 5 at the very most. The sequel, on the other hand...

Is the Sequel harder or easier then the first Game?

Miles harder just because of the impossible lair but very doable after a million tries lol. Rest of the game is easy but a guide is needed for the tonics.

A better game than the first as well imo

Difficulty is subjective.

I made the same kind of topic for Driveclub because it was pretty difficult for me starting out, especially the first few DLC packs I did. I still think some of the DLC is hard, but it's definitely doable.

Some people think getting the 100 sync requirements for Assassins Creed 3 is a 6 out of 10 in difficulty alone, others think it's no more than a 4 out of 10.

Platformers in general I tend to rate lower than what the guide suggests. If a platformer is rated a 7 out of 10 it's basically a 5 out of 10 for me. Yooka Laylee is probably a 3 out of 10 for me, but I haven't played it so I can't really say it will be that easy.

I'd give it a 5 literally because of camera and controls. Having to do a good 5 or 6 flybys just to get one quill because the flight controls are so wooden is just insane. By far one of the worst games i've played in regards to both, struggling with Capital B because lining him up to be hit with missles is a nightmare. Take a game like Dark Souls, difficulty is lowered after you learn the mechanics and patterns. This is difficult because it's just so broken

I like what they tried to achieve, it's a nice throwback in places, but **** me is it a mess. 5/10 for me, using manual camera, hate to think what it was like pre patches

A prime example of how crap your game is because your 2nd game is completely different. ?

All the difficulty came from the camera issues mostly. Trying to line up shots and trying to grab stuff in the air or even sliding down objects was terrible. One of my worst experiences this year.

Anybody else feel kinda like Thor everytime you threw up Laylee to fly??

Definitely a 3/10

The arguably hardest part is only the casino minigame from rextro arcade but that's mainly due to the poor random stutters and fps drops during it. The game has alot of collectibles and that means a long play time but it doesn't mean it's hard.

I haven’t played this one (Yooka-Laylee) just yet, but in my experience I’ve found that these 3D platformers/“easy” kiddy games are usually rated pretty fairly in the 3-5 out-of-10 difficulty range. In general, these sorts of games are always pretty easy...

However, also in my experience, I’ve found that there is ALWAYS some kind of bullshit challenge, arcade mini-game, or some other random trophy that out of nowhere has either a huge spike in difficulty, or in some kind of utterly rage-inducing, infuriating, hair-pulling madness that leaves you with an overwhelming desire to chuck your console out the window and burn down the house. ?

For example, The Ace Bunyan races in Ratchet & Clank HD trilogy, the “My Blaster Runs Hot” mini-game from A Crack In Time, “Smooth Ride“ from Old Man’s Journey, “Flappy Goat” from Goat Simulator, the races in the Spyro trilogy, the bloody “Better Than Developers!” trophy from Trine, that one fucking scroll in Teslagrad that sees a massive difficulty spike etc.

The list goes on endlessly! There’s always that one damn trophy or challenge that makes a 3/10 temporarily feel like a 9/10. ?

Ps - my copy of Yooka-Laylee just came in from the library, hence my lurking in this forum. I’m looking forward to checking it out! Even that casino mini-game you speak of haha.

I can understand all that about the artificial difficulty spikes in games I play alot of Platformers myself.

But this one while it is hard is definitely more so because of technical reasons then it is gameplay reasons. The minigame in question in the casino was never coded properly and it actually use to run so much worse on release (like drops to even 10fps) while some updates did boost the fps better it's never been 100% fixed and is still quite hard due to the random fps drops. The Switch version was almost entirely impossible before the patch even.

Good to know. Even if it’s still not 100% fixed, I’m glad it’s at least been improved somewhat as that will make my life much easier. ? thanks

Personally, I would agree its a bit tougher than a 3. Possibly a 4? If we did 3.5 it would probably fit there, that being said. This is definitely a bit tougher than most 3/10 games because some of the game play is a bit rough around the edges. The reason I commented though is the idea that this is a "kids game" I do not see most kids finishing half this game imo.
