For soime strange reason when i play online for a small bit and then play something else like zombies or something, my rank resets and goes back to level one. Any one know what the strange reason is?

Could be people manipulating your level or that there are problems with the servers.

 

The servers are 10+ years old and most likely unsupported.

The same thing happened to me with Modern Warfare 2, and the worst thing is that I just can't do a single match on Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer... Don't know, probably the servers are broken at this point and stats/leaderboards don't work for new players (a friend of mine who played them years ago still has his stats saved and they update with no issues).

With MW2 and MW3 is still good because you can play everything else and you can get every trophy, I hope this works too with Black Ops and Ghosts because I'm intended to platinum them too.

 

P.S. I'll try Black Ops both with my main account and with an old account where I almost got the platinum years ago so I'm sure I played it quite a lot before and I'll let you know
