If I'm understanding the scoring spreadsheet correctly, then my entry for Gris is incorrect - I beat the game in just under 7 hours, not just under 22 hours like it says.  Same with Date a Live - I did that in under 8 hours, not over a day like it says.  Am I missing something?

 

Also, Telling Lies has you playing as a woman.  It's not just that two of the four main characters are female, but the woman sitting at the computer that you are technically controlling through the whole game technically counts as a female player character.

@themindisacity, the times listed in the spreadsheet are the 25th percentile times, not your personal time; the points are calculated based on 25th percentile completion. I'm updating the spreadsheet to make that more clear.

I'll update Telling Lies; wasn't familiar with it.

Erica was at 88%, Toy Story 3 was at 89% prior to the event starting. Erica does indeed have a female protagonist.

I popped a third platinum, hopefully the last one I'll need to use for a few weeks. This one was started after the event, so no prepped modifier:

Cabela's North American Adventures

Rarity: 18.72

Female lead: No

 

I kind of like the Cabela's games as quick diversions, and this one was mostly no exception. It had a very strange story mode where you played as both the typical hunter guy killing hundreds of wildlife in a region, but also a guy filming it to put on TV. The filming portions were pretty bad - after killing a big game, the game switches you to the perspective of the camera man, where using the analog sticks you must bring the video of the kill into focus. Boring. The rest was mostly fine, a typical Cabela's list with a few on-rails shooting galleries, a tedious mode where you run around the map looking for a particular animal, and an awful multiplayer experience.

 

The multiplayer is worthy of special mention because it actually made me nauseous. It is vs. bots, but you must connect to the internet to start the lobby. For some reason it was extremely laggy, and something about the characters perspective + the lag made me very disoriented. It also has RNG because you need to collect power-ups and use them on the bots, but the spawns are randomised.

 

Overall it's like a 4/10 game, but for Trophy Hunter's League (the reason I played and platinumed it) it's a 9/10 because of how short and easy it is - points deducted for having relatively few trophies and therefore a smaller cumulative value than other short games.

Did we ever decide how a game is scored if you can choose whether you play as a man or woman - i.e  AC Odyssey, Saints Row, etc?

 

And here's an interesting one - I just played A Fold Apart.  The default option means you will play as a male character and a female character.  However, you can choose for both characters to be male or female, meaning it can become a game with two female playable characters.  How does that one get scored?

@themindisacity, if the game gives you an option to play as a male or a female, then you just need to take a screenshot to show that you played as the female character... unless the game has a trophy for playing as the female character (for example, Tales of Xillia has a trophy for playing Milla). If a game has more than one female main, it gets scored the same as if it has only one
Also, was Potata fun? I looked it up and it looks pretty cute.

I've prepared the game Wipeout 2 for platinum. Won't be popping it for awhile but I might as well ask now: it's an arcade/party game with half a dozen trophies for accomplishing tasks as the various female characters, but no real narrative and you select your character prior to the start of each episode/match. Does this count as a game with a female lead?

If there's trophies related to playing as the female character, then it counts. Even if there weren't trophies but you can take a screenshot when you play as a female, it would count.

Finished my first game from my incomplete games - Marvel's Spider-Man! I have to say, this is definitely in my top 10 PS4 games I've played, it was awesome! I'm not normally big on superhero games as they tend to be kind of meh, but it was so much fun zipping around the city as Spider-Man, and the combat was fun and fluid as well. Can't believe I waited so long to play it!

 

Completion before starting: 16% overall (27% in base game, 0% in all DLCs)

 

Almost done with Quantum Theory as well, hoping to finish that later today or maybe tomorrow (it was 28% complete on June 1). Then just FF7R to finish and I can get started on my triple points games!

Just finished up playing Degrees of Separation with @Jens. It is a pretty fun puzzle platformer that utilizes the ideas of heat/cold temperatures to solve puzzles. Each level also has different mechanics to keep things feeling fresh and interesting. This game is DEFINITELY doable without using any sort of guide (and, honestly, they'd ruin the fun.... we looked at solutions 3 times and were pretty mad at ourselves for not taking a couple extra minutes to figure it out each time). This game also gets extra points as I played as the female character, Ember, and Jens played the male character, Rime. The game has an awesome soundtrack and nice art.... and the story is pretty good, too (even if it could have been fleshed out a little more). I'm kind of disappointed there weren't trophies for getting the "True Ending" or the "Regular Ending"; in fact, you don't even have to play the final level to get all the trophies for the game, but you still should anyway to see the conclusion.

 

It was a nice break from Gravity Rush, which I will probably platinum later today or tomorrow.... and do the DLC among other games. I honestly don't like Gravity Rush and would have stopped playing if it wasn't one of my triple point games

Decided to edit my post rather than make a new post....

Got the platinum in Gravity Rush making it my first Triple Points platinum! I am seriously kicking myself for switching out Beyond: Two Souls for this.... and double kicking myself as I was originally going to play Gravity Rush Remastered (which apparently has way better controls) but decided to play this one because it was worth more points. Got greedy and paid for it dearly by making myself play probably THE HARDEST game I've ever played.
As for the game, it's got a decent story, really great music, a unique art style.... and this shittiest controls I have ever played with in my life. And there were challenges in this game that required precise use of those controls. Super frustrating.

Wish I could say that I'm done with the game, but there's still DLC to do. And why subject myself to it? Because... points. And because I don't want my completion % to suffer.

Well, that was interesting. If you're into series like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, The X-Files, Twin Peaks, etc and New Weird genre, then you might like this. The beginning narrative really drew me in and it kept at it while I was exploring The Oldest House's Brutalist setting, but toward the end it kinda felt a little rushed and lacking. The Foundation provided more meatiness post-game, but it still left more questions than answers. I totally dug all the collectable files and media; the paranormal entry data really elevated the world building, but I can totally see how it would be boring for people not into that subject.

The game's combat can be pretty fun, but I really died more than I liked and that was totally due to not changing my service weapon's/personal mods load outs appropriate to the battle situations. The side missions were pretty cool and you definitely can tackle any leftovers once you finish the main campaign. And omg, the Yoshimi Tokui mission has Hideo Kojima voicing it lol.

So yeah, can't wait whenever the AWE DLC drops! Surprisingly, I've never played Alan Wake but I do know of the game and its reputation. I'll have to remedy that someday.

I told myself I should clean up my backlog before starting new games. Or at least only start games that were triple points for this event or listed in another event.

 

Then I started two new games that aren’t event games. Yay me, I’m so good at sticking to plans! >_<

 

Well anyway, I completed one of the two games - Crazy Market. It’s a fun little game on the Vita that’s free to play. Well, the first 50 levels are fun, the last ten are just insane or require you to grind out gold to buy loads of powerups to brute force your way through. Still it’s done and I enjoyed it

 

And bonus is that you can choose a female character as well, so at least I get extra points here for it  Screenshots of me choosing the female character and completing the game with her.

 

I missed 3 stars on some levels though (trophies need 170/180 stars), need to go back and get them to satisfy my inner completionist

 

 

Now no more starting new games until you complete the others, Kristy! >_<

I started a game tonight that I was surprised to find had the option for female characters: Super Soccer Blast.

 

You are tasked with creating a custom avatar and team. The avatar can be a man or woman, so of course I made a woman. The customisation is quite nice with enough options to keep things interesting. I was most pleased with the team editor - the game comes with a few prominent national teams (Brazil, England, France, etc. etc.) but it also includes virtually every flag in the world for you to add your own country into the game. So I made my custom team Namibia. Very much appreciated that they put the flags in for us to use like that. It's relatively rare to see a sport game making the effort to include women and a wide variety of nationalities. I can only think of Rory McIlroy Golf, NBA Live 18 + 19, FIFA 20, and the Virtua Tennis games as achieving this among the many titles I've played over the years.

 

The only disappointing part is that, besides the trophies for creating your own avatar and team, you can only actually use your team to work towards the custom tournament mode. The World Tour tournaments that comprise the majority of the game's time to platinum feature teams that are unable to be altered or substituted. So I only got to use my team for two glorious games to capture the custom trophy, and now it's on to the main offering of the game.

Finally finished up my nightmare that is Gravity Rush! I got the platinum about a week ago but had to mop up the DLC, which I did between playing 3 other games-- Journey, AI: The Somnium Files, and Super Neptunia RPG. Very glad to have fully completed Gravity Rush, which is the first of my triple point games, as it wasn't my favorite game on the planet (a complete understatement if you read any of my status updates about it lol).

 

But speaking of other games with female leads, I finished up Super Neptunia RPG yesterday and had a really good time with it! Pretty much all the characters in the game are female... all of the main characters, all of the side characters, all of the bad guys, all of the shop owners.... only a couple NPCs and random enemies were male. Despite this, I hardly noticed that everyone was female until I started thinking about how to describe this game in this event's thread. Regardless, it was a really good game that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys JRPGs. Even if you aren't a fan of the genre, you might get a kick out of it because the game is very self-aware and is constantly making fun of the genre. You won't need to invest a lot of time in it, either, as it can be completed in about 20 hours or so.

Since the race began i've cleaned up a few titles on this list, finally got the plat for Persona 5, Agents of Mayhem and CoD! I also went back to clean up and have got the plat for Rachet and Clank (74% completed). Now while also playing The last of Us Part 2 i'll also get to Fe (34% complete) so that i can wind down from the zombies before bed
