In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it. Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.

Β

Take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit to the OSF aiming to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with a talent in psycho-kinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.

This was one of the games (other than Assassins Creed: Valhalla) that I liked from the feature list of "gameplay" demos on the Xbox Insider stream the most.

Β

Wonder what kind of style the game will take. Dark Souls? DMC? Hack n Slash? Hmm...

Β

Either way I'm a huge fan of Bandai Namco games. Was already looking forward to Tales of Arise from them, now we got Scarlet Nexus too. I honestly thought this was Code Vein 2 at first glance when the trailer was going.Β

Β

Those plant mutant things just look creepy though. Who knew a plant could be so nightmare inducing.

"Led by Kenji Anabuki and Keita Iizuka of the Tales of Vesperia team, Scarlet Nexus is an intense, story-driven action RPG from Bandai Namco Studios releasing on June 25. Set in a far distant future, the world has entered a dangerous new era where deranged mutants called the Others terrorize and hunt humans.

Β

The Scarlet Nexus combat system provides you with the ability to fully utilize your party’s psionic powers in different ways. The game’s two main playable characters, Yuito and Kasane, both use Psychokinesis."

Just played the demo, the combat is pretty damn fun.Β

Β

I found it unique because there's a big emphasis on teamwork. Each character in your party has an ability that works somewhat like a buff, there's fire damage, damage protection, teleportation and the ability to see cloaked enemies. Plus you can get prompts during some combos for special team attacks. And of course, there's your own power of telekenisis which is seemlessly integrated into the combat.

Β

My only concern is that it might get stale a few hours in if there aren't more party members with different powers.

Β

Overall, Im much more interested after playing it.
