SnowFleurz
Seeing as many people finish this platinum in about 7-8 hours, I am very dissapointed in the length of the game. I was really looking forward to this game, but beeing this short, I'll wait for a sale.
Popular Post Sir_Bee
Now I cannot speak to the quality of this game, but as gamers in general, I think that we put too much emphasis on quantity over quality. It could be only 7-10 hours, but if they are 7-10 very enjoyable hours, than why does it need to be longer? There are many 80+ hour games that are 3/4 grind, and I am not sure that is actually better, at least in my opinion. That being said, everyone has their priorities, and should pick the games they want to play however they want. I just feel that quality should be a part of that choice.
LordBilbanes
If it's a very fun seven to ten hours, I can live with the price.
Popular Post DaivRules
Where are you seeing 7-8 hours? I'm seeing two fastest achievers at 10 hours (not including any time before their first trophy), the next person is 15-ish hours and it only goes longer from there. Taking the fastest achievers time as the typical time does an injustice to the game as they could presumably have played the game before and been looking for that fastest achiever spot intentionally. If most people only want games to be longer, they could just start playing without guides. That's almost a guarantee to increase the playtime in most games.
LoveInHell
It looks like a fun game, I wish it was a bit longer too. I always wait for sales anyway.
Popular Post Titanomachy_75
7-10 hours short?? OK?? As stated before most games that reach 30 + hours upwards are just grindy and nothing more! When A game is around 10 - 20 its just right! At best this game is around 10 - 15 hours at best! So, Its a good pace
Popular Post MarcusPunisher
I played Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice that is about the same length if not less and that game was great. I don't think just because a game is short it should determine the overall quality, it will always depend on the campaign it self and how it feels overall.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Everybody likes to mention how good Assassin's Creed Odyssey is, but with the vast amount of content and time required for platinum, I have to dedicate at least a month out of my time of day to play through the game, because that's how long it takes me to get through 100+ hour titles on average. I don't like that, because I've played enough Ubisoft games at this point to know that most of them are generally collectathons once you get done with the main story. In contrast, while I agreed that The Order 1886 wasn't worth $60, it was a very enjoyable 3 - 6 hour experience for the $20 I spent on it. Solid acting and a solid cinematic experience. If it had been 30 - 50 hours I would of enjoyed it a lot less. Edited May 22, 2020 by Spaz
Popular Post Cobby
I mean it's a game about being a shark and eating people. No one wants to do that for 60 hours...

yowzagabowza
14 hours is about a week for me because of work, so that's kinda fine. What disappoints me is the game is pretty shallow fr reviews I've read. Do x thing 10 times, kill x things, collect x things... it just repeats with each level. I want expecting a blockbuster by any means, but I'll wait til it's cheaper than $40 based on quality alone.
Lightsp33d1987
Well you can always just buy then sell after but 10 hours on this game might be perfect, I played couple of hours yesterday and a couple today and enjoying it so far so for me maybe after 10 hours it would get boring and tedious so a shorter length is probably best for this type of game.

Popular Post Conor
People really do be playing a game for ten hours a day then complain it's too short because they beat it in "only three days"... no shit The length of a game is far less important than what the games does within said length of time. Now, granted, I haven't played Assassin's Creed: Odyssey but all the research I've done points to a large amount of the game's dazzling runtime being full of grinding through copy-pasted side missions. I do not anticipate having a lot of fun with that game, no point having a 100 hour runtime when the content isn't up to snuff. Then you have a game like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which you can handily breeze through in about ten hours but it is bloody brilliant and warrants at least one more playthrough for it. Then on the completely opposite end of the spectrum you have The Order 1886 which is not only very short but doesn't really do anything interesting with that time besides look very pretty. But yeah, all purely my opinion, different strokes and all... Edited May 22, 2020 by Stan Lee
IvConqueror
The game is heavily reliant on the gimmick of being a game where you eat things as a shark, surely you realise the novelty will run out if it is any longer than 10 hours right??
IntroPhenom
Looking at this another way, list price is $39.99, so if you play it for ten hours, you're paying four bucks an hour for your entertainment. I wouldn't complain if the ratio of game time to entertainment price was lower, but I don't consider four bucks excessive, either.

BTHRZeroX
I get to play as a shark and mess some shit up, I don't care whats its story length is I'll get my moneys worth for sure.
turniplord
Took me around 12-14 hours (hard to accurately guess due to losing progress via a bug - which is now supposedly fixed). I thought it was a decent length, it didn't outstay its welcome and the pacing kept me interested throughout - there was no fluff or hours of doing nothing like in some bigger games. Snake2410
After 112 hours in FFVIIR for the platinum I'm actually looking forward to being able to get through something in roughly 10 hours or less. Plus I preordered the MK11 dlc so I'd like to finish before Tuesday if I can, regardless if they add trophies or not to it.
kidson2004
Why would you want this to be longer? There’s TONS of games that are hella long. No need to mindlessly swim around as a shark for 100+ hours. Hell, I welcome a short game every once in a while.
aZombieDictator
It's honestly the perfect length. 10-15 hour games are great so you can play more games instead of just playing the same game, doing the same crap for 50+ hours. Okami-of-Blood
I get what the OP is saying, but really, I agree with what some others are saying here. As long as it's worth it for yourself, there isn't a problem with the length. I personally am quite happy with it because I managed to get into the list of first 50 earners of the Platinum. Honestly, if it wasn't for that, I likely wouldn't of finished it as quickly as I did. I was happy enough swimming around and checking out the world. My only gripe is I was kind of expecting a little more with the mutations. There's only Spoiler three mutation strains in total, four if you count the tiger shark skin some got with the day 1 edition, but that's just a body mutation, no fins or anything. And for how much you can eat and earn in nutrients for your upgrading, it's just a tad lackluster. I've always been bugged a bit by having a game with some form of currency (in this case of Maneater, it's nutrients) which just starts accumulating over time to the point where it's limitless as you have nothing to use it on anymore. I personally would of preferred having each individual body part gain its own experience to then finally level up/upgrade/evolve when it hits a milestone. Eating certain creatures or apex predators would grant bonus/special nutrients that added to your overall strength and capabilities. I'm really happy to see another shark game out there other than Jaw's Unleashed which isn't a multiplayer game. But as much as I loved Maneater, and definitely want to see it grow more (no pun intended), I don't think this first game is going to hit enough points with a large enough crowd and critics to bring a sequel. I hope I am wrong, but... yeah. We've mostly all played the game. Edited May 23, 2020 by Okami-of-Blood
Crispy_Oglop
I'm about halfway through and I think 7-10 hours in length is a good amount of time for the type of gameplay on offer. I'm having fun now, but there isn't a huge amount of depth to this game (pardon the pun). And I think that if it pushed into the 20 - 30 hour runtime as many games seem to nowadays - it would outstay its welcome and become tedious. Whether the 7-10 hours justifies the price, is another question entirely ? Edited May 23, 2020 by Crispy_Oglop
anotherfangirl
I think it has the perfect length. My story progression is at 75% and I have ~80% of the collectibles from the areas where I was so far and my playtime is at 10 hours and 35 minutes. I enjoy this game a lot, but I definitely don’t want to play it for 30 or 40 hours.
