Mafia 3 Definitive Edition "Family & New Boss" Trophy Glitch Help

Hey everyone, just thought I'd chime in here.

I finished my first playthrough coincidentally like a week before the game became the definitive edition, and it was a flip playthrough. No trophies glitched for me. Once the definitive edition became a thing, I did all the DLC and got all its trophies, and then started a new game to do a kill playthrough. I got every trophy for it except for No Loose Ends for killing every racket boss (I did that), so now that's the only trophy across the entire game and its DLCs I'm missing- sitting at 98%. I didn't wiretap, but I saw someone else in this thread say they did a no kill playthrough without wiretaps and a no kill playthrough with wiretaps, so does the game's latest patch just make this trophy impossible or what? Or is it just pure luck and both of us weren't lucky? I see people getting the trophy more recently than the definitive edition's release, but they could be playing on an earlier version, who knows.

Either way, this is embarrassing, especially when this is supposed to be this game's "definitive" edition. The best case scenario going forward would be that hangar 13 patches these trophies either to work properly, or they just change the in-game way of earning them to e.g. just killing one racket boss as opposed to all of them. Regardless, I'm really upset about this and have decided to not support 2K in any way going forward. Wish there was a way we could petition for this to be fixed or formally try to contact hangar 13 to fix this or something, but I don't see any of the above happening

Finished my flip playthrough a few days ago and The New Boss glitched on me.

Killed all 16 racket bosses a few minutes ago and No Loose Ends trophy glitched on me.

Other glitched trophies are the combat and money related. Game is broken. I'm done with it.

Damn, reading all the glitches people have encountered makes me want to put the game down. They need to address this shit asap.

So far no trophies have glitched on me. I recently got the "Cash in Hand" :bronze:. Started playing offline after mission "An Emotional Attachment"

So I think I know what the issue is here. I think it's to do with Charlie Kincaid. For anyone who has the trophy, does his photo appear in the archive? As I have everyone's photo there I flipped but Charlie's

Which district was he located in?

This is beyond frustrating. Just did my third playthrough and still missing both the New Boss and No Loose Ends. I was playing my first playthrough when the Definitive Edition update came. The second playthrough was where I made sure to kill all the bosses, no trophy.

Played a third time with flipping all the bosses, and spent all day today trying to finish it. Flipped all of them and that trophy didn't pop up either. I did get the "Just You and Me" after killing the two underbosses, but now I'm stuck with those two keeping me from the platinum and it feels that today was such a waste

What's even more frustrating is knowing I'll have to do at least two more playthroughs to get those once the issue is resolved for sure. And I thought that the 5th SFG was going to be the toughest but I have that as well. I'll have to take a break till we know.

Yeah I got the 5th SFG trophy which is pretty easy to do now at the police station with the Slow motion shooting activated.

I was going to do a flip playthrough to plat the game but not bothering now after hearing all the horror stories from others. I’ll wait and see if the glitches trophies get fixed with the next patch. They were popping for people on the previous patch too, so frustrating.

I'm from Brazil (Google translator was used).  I believe I have found a possible solution, I haven't been able to try yet with the "the new boss" trophy because I just finished the second time and he didn't come, the "family" trophy on the first try, neither did he, on the second, before trying  , I saw a tip before ATT 1.7, commenting that if you applied for the trophy without leaving the Campaign, the achievement was guaranteed, I just tested it with the "family" trophy and it came, now I will finish the DLCs and start to do  all alive without leaving the Campaign.

What do you mean by not leaving the campaign?

I think he means basically doing it in one sitting without exiting to main menu or closing down the game.

All the glitched trophies currently happening is because the counters are now broken. When you leave the game they all reset back to Zero. This effects all combat related trophies and it would seem the count for racket bosses too.

The 'one session' approach is working for the combat related trophies, as I've just sat and gone through them all today. I had many many kills counted prior to today, but sure enough things like flambe popped on exactly the 10th kill today, closed casket on exactly the 50th kill today. I even sat and counted the 300 total takedowns and it popped when I was expecting. I more than met the requirements for all these trophies and others, before today's session.

I don't know if this will work for racket bosses. I'm also thinking about putting this game down for now.

Hi, I havent started this yet so I was wondering if Rest Mode is safe to use for this method or does it also reset the stats?

I already had this game downloaded a few years ago- playing it again to get the platinum. I’m now on my 3rd playthrough trying to get the new boss trophy- I’m sure I’ve flipped way over 16 bosses. If I turned my internet off it is it still gonna continue the progress? It should already been continuing from the 2nd playthrough! Urgh this is becoming a chore now!

I'm going to put the game down until there's a patch. I think the issue could be the update that was released (1.10)

The developers are aware as of May 28th:

that's right, don't leave the campaign, let alone close the game.

I just received the trophies related to money, and that happened exactly when I received 500 thousand in the count that I put on my cell phone, the game really resets the statistics every time I leave.

In the next step, since the two death trophies are missing, I will staple the entire city before I do any mission for the chief, I will back up the defense and then start, it may take a while.

I plan to check soon if at least go to the game menu and get back to work as there are bugs that may force you to do so.

And I don't know if it works in sleep mode, I will also test it.

(sorry for the translation, using google?

Just completed 2 flipped playthroughs of this stupid game on the latest patch (1.10) and the trophy that is still glitched on me is "The New Boss".

Let me share my experience here and what I think might be the issue:

Playthrough 1

Started the game with my internet connection active and realized after awhile that a few combat & money trophies were not registering as they should have. By then, I was already halfway through so I decided to disconnect from the internet and continued the playthrough. Funnily enough, Cash in Hand had already popped by then so being online did not void this trophy it seems. After being disconnected, Live Another Day popped correctly but the combat & money trophies were still not appearing so I started to get angsty and decided to try them all in one sitting (meaning I never switched off my PS4 or let it rest).

Lo and behold, all 3 combat trophies popped while being done in 1 sitting: Closed Casket, Combat Specialist, Shh, Shh

I already had around $600k by this stage but Baby, You're a Rich Man was not unlocking for me. This trophy was tough to do in 1 sitting but then I found out about the infinite money glitch while doing one of the drugs mission in the French Ward so I used that method. And true enough, after doing it 50 times (you get $10k each time), the trophy registered. Needless to say, I then spent $500k in one go to obtain Hole in Your Pocket

Finished the game as per normal and all trophies registered except for the infamous Family & The New Boss. I followed a few guides so I was 99.99% sure I had done everything right. All side missions and optional missions completed as well. This was how I distributed my districts in this order:

Delray Hollow (Cass) Pointe Verdun (Burke)River Row (Vito) > Barclay Mills (Cass) > Downtown (Vito) > Tickfaw (Burke) > Frisco (Cass) > French Ward (Vito) > Southdowns (Burke)

Some of you may have noticed in the journal that when you distribute the racket in Southdowns to Burke, it says Vito instead so not sure if this was causing the glitch. I also noted that I skipped Burke 3 districts after Pointe Verdun so not sure if that was the reason too.

Playthrough 2

Deleted all my previous save files and loaded up a separate save file which skipped the entire prologue and started right before the Smack mission. From this point on, everything was done offline. Flipped all 16 bosses but The New Boss glitched again. I did manage to kill all informants which unlocked Can't Trust a Rat without any issue. My district distribution was a bit different this time though:

Delray Hollow (Cass) River Row (Vito) > Pointe Verdun (Burke)Barclay Mills (Cass) > Downtown (Vito) > Tickfaw (Burke) > Frisco (Cass) > Southdowns (Vito) > French Ward (Burke)

This time, my journal was wrong again and said I had assigned the racket in Southdowns to Burke instead of Vito (seriously WTH???).

I then completed all the side missions only and thankfully Family registered right after the last one was done for Burke.

Playthrough 3

Was supposed to go for Just You and MeNo Loose Ends and Big Earner but don't think I'll bother until they patch the game up. Alternatively, try and do The New Boss in 1 sitting but I'm kinda tired honestly.

Conclusion (TL;DR Version)

  1. The counters are broken for most of the combat and money trophies. They need to be done in 1 sitting and to be safe, do not exit from the game or put your machine to rest
  2. Not sure if playing offline makes a difference but I recommend to do so right from the start, you might get lucky
  3. Still not sure what the exact requirement is for Family but best not to skip more than 2 districts for an underboss. If possible, try to assign Southdowns to Cass as I heard the journal records that correctly

Hopefully this post helps someone out who was struggling like me.

GUYS, I CAN CONFIRM THAT IT WORKS!

I had done 6 playthroughs of the game (playing online, offline, leaving some rackets for last because of the journal bug with the gambling racket, etc.) but The New Boss never popped. I read drakuslucas potential solution and decided to give it a try. I copied my save from a usb, i had created one just after the first wiretap. I started from there and flipped each boss. At one point, the game bugged for me, a bug that i had experienced before when playing with internet connection active: you can't progress because your contact doesn't trigger the conversation after you have met the damage required for the racket. Also, after killing Derazio, the rackets for the French Ward didn't spawn. In previous times, i had quit to main menu and loaded again to solve it, but since quitting wasn't an option (based on what drakuslucas had said), i just shot a police officer and let him kill me. The game loaded and everything was working again.

I continued with the rackets and flipping. I left Gambling for last and after flipping Peralta, Lincoln said his dialog and the trophy popped just after the "Racket secured" message. So, apparently it is true that the counters are messed up for the trophies. Baby you are a rich man and Hole in your pocket glitched for me, but i got them in one sitting with the infinite money glitch while playing offline. Family glitched on me too, and i did another playthrough, i don't remember having done it in one sitting, but i do remember that i left all the bosses side missions for last and i did all 15 of them in one go.

Now, if this is how it works, one would have to play from the very beginning until the last racket boss to get No Loose Ends in one sitting. Without quitting to main menu and without quitting the game entirely. I'm relieved, because this playthrough took me roughly 6 hours and it would have been devastating to not get the trophy. Thank you, @drakuslucas, for your suggestion and @CravingClarity too, for telling his experience and give me a little hope for it to work because of that. I will try the kill all bosses playthrough tomorrow and post here to say if it works too.

This is a real pain. Without closing the game, I spent like 2 1/2 hours getting to Sonny Blue and I get the blue screen error. Fuck this.

Can you reload save? Or go into the pause menu. Or to PS4 dashboard without loading game? Such a pain this

I can confirm that reloading save is fine. I checkpoint farmed a lot for the kills trophies. I also used the PS4 dashboard fine. I think I checked the PS Store etc.

As I think going to the dashboard is effectively the same as using rest mode, then that should also be fine but I cannot confirm it

Same boat here.  Working towards a quick run and hoping it pops early.

After Combat Special (takedown 300 enemies) bugged on me on the digital version, I decided to try the game on PS Now.

Even though I lost connection and had to quit. I got the trophy 20 minutes after and I'm only at Pointe Verdun. Hopefully the other bugged trophies pop too.
