Evading?

Am i missing something.. I can't seem to evade at all.. I try and get hit all the time.. I just killed the apex barracuda by brute forcing it.. Any tips?

For Apex fights as well as other fish fights, they'll have tells when they'll attack. They'll have a circle around their mouth and they'll glow orange-ish. Some attacks don't seem to have this though and they're more spur of the moment. My advice is to try waiting for them to attack first and try to evade through it.

 

You don't seem to get i-frames the whole evade, as even while successfully brute forcing, you will get hit sometimes, but for the most part you should be able to attack and evade on most fights outside of the Apex Orca

one tactic is to keep jumping above water and hope that the apex will beach itself. Its what happened to me accidently with the alligator.
