Akiyama the hoarder. Trophy problem

I have 3,881,077 yen with Shun Akiyama, but the trophy doesn't show up. It requires 1,000,000 yen. What should I do?

Hello friend, thank you for taking the time to play a Yakuza game (and thank you for buying it to help bring future titles to the West).

 

I presume you are in the finale right now, where money and items are pooled between characters. This is probably what has led to your confusion; it's not about carrying money with Akiyama but about earning money with Akiyama. Simply put, Akiyama should have generated a million yen himself rather than receive that much from the pooling.

 

To do that, per the Trophy guide;

Akiyama has several good places to earn money. Finishing the Hostess Maker minigame in one playthrough grants three tokens, collectively worth 650,000 yen. Another 120,000 can be made by selling the Pure Gold Manjiro acquired by giving the password GOLDEN MANJIRO to an attendant inside the Volcanic Volcano.

It would be easiest to do this after getting  Tanimura Award. Spend the 10,000 chips on various plates, and move them into the shared inventory. Later, as Akiyama, go to Ebisu Pawn and sell them from the inventory.

 

Alternatively, make a save file and have Akiyama sell all your items (ALL OF THEM) at Ebisu Pawn and see if that pips you over the 1 mil threshold. If yes, the Trophy will pop and you can reload your save. Depends on what you prefer to do - savescumming Ebisu or the Trophy guide method - but take note that you'll have to finish Hostess Maker anyway for the Platinum anyway.
