Formations and Tactics Guide

There are apparently Nine Formations you get in three tiers.

 

ATTACK

1. Fish
2. Geese
3. Arrow

 

DEFENSE

1. Wings
2. Ring
3. Crescent

 

SPEED

1. Serpent
2. Yoke
3. Wheel

 

These are ranked in Tiers, from 1 to 3. The high tiers you can only get by having them suggested by officers. Kenshin and Shingen give you Arrow and Wheel, and other famous officers can suggest Crescent too. If you have a high tier castle and appoint famous, non-generic warriors (proper warriors, like Keiji Maeda, and other people famous for kicking the crap out of people on the battlefield) you should get them in a "Unite the Land" run with no issue, so long you keep an eye out. The spawn rate sucks.

 

Tactics:

Here is the list of tactics you need to unlock (maybe use?) in game. Note that they carry over between games, but write the list down and tick them off as you go:

  Rifleman Raid (1-2) - Requires "Gunsmith" facilities
  Onmyoji Aid (1) - Requires the "Imperial Court" facility (Nijo Palace territory)
  Kabukimono Aid (1)
  Cavalry Charge (1-2) - Requires "Horse Farm" facilities
  Hearts and Minds (1)
  Arrow Volley (1)
  Cannon Volley (1)
  Stone Wall (1)
  Man and Beast (1)
  Officer Capture (1)
  
  Special Tactics
  (For each of these, I mention two people that I know can do them. If there's a CAW type that knows it, I've listed them as one of the two. For most, if not all, there ARE more people that can do them, if you want to keep a look out. This is helpful if you only need a few more, or want to to quickly find one. The only one I couldn't find a second person for was Peasant Soldiers, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one of the generics have it.)

  Fireball Raid (2) - Hisahide Matsunaga, Takatora Todo
  Hearts and Minds (2) - Takakage Kobayakawa, Balanced CAW
  Kabukimono Aid (2) - Keiji Maeda, Toshiie Maeda
  Lure and Ambush - Yoshihiro Shimazu, Toyohisa Shimazu
  Main Camp Raid - Nobunaga Oda, Smart CAW
  Man and Beast (2) - Shingen Takeda, Nagamasa Azai
  Mounted Rifle Charge - Masamune Date, Kojuro Katakura
  Ninja Raid (3) - Nene, Kotaro Fuma; Requires "Ninja Village" facilities
  Officer Capture (2) - No, Gracia
  Onmyoji Aid (2) - Kanbei Kuroda, Kanetsugu Naoe - Requires the "Imperial Court" facility (Nijo Palace territory)
  Peasant Solders - Motochika Chosokabe
  Rifleman Raid (3) - Mitsuhide Akechi, Magoichi Saika - Requires "Gunsmith" facilities
  Stone Wall (2) - Tadakatsu Honda, Kiyomasa Kato
  
  
  Non-Tactics from the List
  According to the list that was going around, you may also need the following:
  Agitate
  Assassinate - Requires "Ninja Village" facilities
  Bribe
  Convert
  Exempt (special tactic)
  Pillage (while they have it listed, it is confirmed that it is not actually be needed)
  Slander
  Undermine (either a special tactic OR confirmed that it is not actually needed. I did not have it when I got the trophy)

 

Again, it sucks but thems the breaks.
