Are you happy with Sony exclusive games.... not being exclusive?

It seems that nobody saw the PS5 presentation, Godfall and Deathloop are Ps5 and pc games, so it's not something that maybe could happen, it's happening.

I see that Sony has no problem with titles going to pc, they want to be console exclusive.  They don't see pc gaming.as competence.

Nights of Azure was Ps4 exclusive, Tales of series was playstation exclusive, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Demon Souls goes to pc too.

Are bethesda or Counterplay Games Playstation Studios? The OP's point was Sony was deciding to take exclusive games and make them non-exclusive, which they can only do with Playstation Studio developers.

I don’t care. I guess I’m more pro about it cause I like how gamers unite, no matter what console. So say if Bloodborne does come on PC, I’d be glad so that PC gamers also get to play such an awesome game. I am not greedy about it and I don’t care about console wars.

I don't think Sony exclusives are going anywhere, this is from PlayStation's EVP for Europe, not some random game "journalist."

However, Simon Rutter, PlayStation’s EVP for Europe, says that for Sony exclusive games are “hugely important. More important, I think, than they’ve ever been.

Exclusivity needs to stop. If I can play it, cool! If as many people as possible can also play it, even cooler!

The more people who play a game, the higher chance of said game having a sequel etc.

Exclusivity isn't needed anymore and is kinda dumb. Share the love, why do you have to keep it to a select group?

CUPHEAD ON PS4 PLEASE!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!

Exclusives are definetely still necessary otherwise there is literally nothing that differentiates the console brands. It simulates competition between the brands as well. In fact, if sony didn't have any exclusives, I am hard pressed to see why I would continue playing on the playstation system (other than for brand loyalty and keeping my ecosystem intact with trophy history etc). The xbox is far superior in terms of service options and the One X has better audio options like Dolby atmos support. Exclusives still matter and that's how nintendo is making a killing even if they have the weakest hardware.

P.S This doesn't mean that I am mad about HZD and DS going to PC etc. I just don't think it should be day and date and Sony should always keep the biggest stuff only on playstation(Like TLOU and God of War)

Stop looking at it from fanboy vs non-fanboy perspective for a moment and consider that Sony is a business and wants to sell consoles and make money. Those exclusive games primarily exist to sell consoles, that's why they still are mostly free of additional monetization. They need to be as pure a gaming experience as possible and well made. On the whole that works, because some of the most loved games from this generation are Sony exclusives.

Second part of it is the release of HZD2 on their new console PS5. When Sony decided to also let PC gamers play the first installment, they already knew that. So you could conclude that releasing the game on PC is simply part of their carefully planned out marketing campaign for the PS5. In the hopes that PC gamers will be so blown away by this still amazing game, they will not hesitate to buy a PS5 at full price for its sequel. The timing, if all goes well, would be perfect, because HZD on PC is set for a summer release.

Even if some of the people buying and playing HZD on PC will wait another 4 years to play part 2 when that too (possibly - not set in stone at all) comes to PC, that's not the user base Sony is banking on. They want to cash in on the people with money like water that will gladly buy a new console just to play the sequel to a single game they enjoyed. And that may be more people than you think as a trophy hunter and/or game collector, because most people only buy and play a handful of games.

A profound quote from the article.

Sony’s approach is a reminder that games consoles are about more than tech specs; their features, and the selection of games that their manufacturers curate, create a culture around them. Nintendo specialises in consoles that are portable, flexible, family friendly and fun. Xbox, historically, has always put connectivity at the forefront, centring games such as Halo and Forza that you play online with friends. Sony, meanwhile, likes to invest in a diverse portfolio of games to attract players who like to feel as if they’re on the cultural cutting edge.”

Sony has to be careful about that. The reason all my friends stopped playing Xbox One is because there was absolutely ZERO console exclusive games on it. Since the Game pass was implemented, all the games are also available on PC. So why keeping a machine that only has access to a fraction of games available on PC. They just bought a tower and got access to MS games, Steam, Epic, Origins, etc .. The Xbox One became completely useless after that.

Imo the reasons Switch and PS4 sold so well is mainly because they have a lot of exclusive games we will never ever find anywhere else.

No exclusives should exist on any console. Buy the console you prefer and play any game you want on it. How I see it and have seen it. ?

My thinking is that first party exclusives and inevitable and a vital selling point of any console. I'm completely fine with them.
To me though, third party exclusives are only okay if the devs were given funding by the platform holder and couldn't have been made without it.

Unless the studio in question barely made multiplatform games beforehand, I hate studio aqquisitions.

Even though I do think exclusives are vital for a console life cycle,

Yes I would love to see CUPHEAD on the Ps4! :)

CUPHEAD and the two ORI are the only 3 games I envy to Microsoft library.

It's a shame they decided to port CUPHEAD on the Switch but not on Ps4 yet.

More people get to play cool games

What's not to like?

Agreed, we got to enjoy Horizon for years now. And even new people can pick up the complete edition for 15 bucks. So I'm all for a PC version. Let more people enjoy it. It might make them take a closer look at Playstation. People might buy a PS5 to play Horizon 2 instead of waiting for a few years for a PC release. And they can charge PC players full price. It's marketing for the Playstation brand as well as a nice way for them to make 40-60 bucks on a new platform.

Personally i think every console should have their exclusives. Why other console players can get Sony games without switching console while we have to buy Nintendo or XBox? Not fair. Perhaps it's wrong but i think Sony would sell more own consoles by making good exclusives and not by making them all available for other consoles.

I was thinking about this and, maybe could be not bad if they would remove exclusives completely though not only Sony but also from other consoles. However i know this will be much harder to realize especially from Nintendo, which seems pretty jealous of its exclusives.
