DEI2EK
Not sure if this is just Take-Two being greedy but retail listings for 2k 21 are going for $69.99 for PS5/XSX versions. Don't know if this is going to be the norm, but what would you think if it was?
Popular Post DaivRules
This'll be MSRP for AAA PS5 games. And even if they are $70, they're still cheaper than SNES games when they were new considering inflation. It's never been a cheaper time to be a gamer!
TopOfAllWorlds
I would honestly not be that bothered if the standard price changed to $69.
Popular Post djb5f
Makes sense, surprised games held as $59.99 for so long.
Popular Post Zircon_Lotus
If this is true I will probably be fucked. My country economy is in shambles, so PS5 games would be really expensive.
Popular Post LoveInHell
I'm not that bothered by it, it's understandable. The quality of the games we're going to get are going to be better, it was expected they would be more expensive. I just hope the prices for the digital games won't be higher for the PS5 at least since they made a disc and discless console. Just like video gaming has always done, AAA games prices will drop 6 to 12 months after release. Although if the $50-60 new retail prices of PS4 titles didn't already deter your gaming this gen, I don't see how the small increase would be that bothersome.
Popular Post AK-1138
That's genius marketing, that is. The kids won't be able to resist a price point as meme-worthy as all that. You're gonna be the cool kid in class for paying full price, and anyone who dares buy it on sale is forever shunned.

At the beginning of this gen games would cost between 180-230 BRL. Sometime ago they were 250, and the Last of Us II and Ghost of Tsushima had their prices adjusted to 280 BRL. If this trend continues, I can see PS5 games going for more than 300 BRL, and this is very expensive. Thankfully money is not a problem for me, but it still hurts having to pay this much. Popular Post Xyleh
Non-AAA and the used game market are looking pretty good right now.
IntroPhenom
I have no issue with dropping seventy dollars for a lengthy RPG that I sink 100 hours into. For other games, however, I may wait and buy on sale. New games seem to go on sale sometimes weeks after launch these days.
Popular Post Xylobe
Sounds like a great reason to not buy the all-digital console.
Keyser Soze
Im going to wait for a sale before I buy them, just like the games in this gen.

Nightstream88
Are they charging an Extra $10 just for those Sweat particles?
MadEdders95
Honestly don't mind that much tbh. About £60 for UK folk? It's expensive but for some games (Like a hypothetical GTA VI) it'd be worth it anyway. For others though, I'll wait for a sale.
sillyrobo75
If they plan to do this I am sure they've done plenty of research to see how the market would react, even stuff like this could be that, I also remember a PS exec who said something about games getting more expensive to make (hint hint nudge nudge). In the end if any company can get more money out of consumers, and they can get away with it, they will ofc do it. Also there have been discussions and reports over the years why the price is still 60 and it is justified. Now we have microtransactions, season passes and so on. So a AAA game is almost never just 60, if you want the full experience ofc, no one is forcing you to buy it, but still. Popular Post BeautifulTorment
No way would I ever buy a game p4iced that high (they will pump this up to $110 in Canada). I know Aus already has awful prices like this, but gamers from both regions shouldn't stand for this.
Popular Post xh117
For most games its not even worth buying at launch anyway when they have bugs on launch or season pass dlc you have to wait for. There's so many cheap games at this point to bother spending full price unless you are really hyped for a release. Most of us have backlogs we will never finish.
thefourfoldroot
I’ll be getting Ratchet snd GT7, but beyond that I have a lot of PS4 games to play with hopefully better performance and reduced loading time. Then I’ll go back to picking up second hand and trading back.
Dangisuckatgamin
Confirms that I’m done Preordering next gen. I also may be done with day one purchases depending on how bad I want it. Probably will still get Ratchet & Clank day one though.
Sikutai
The Price for a PS 4 Games is already at 69,99 Euro in the Store since many many years. So what are you talking about? And 70 Euro are 70 US Dollar. Edited July 2, 2020 by Sikutai
Chingon_Player
And on top of that we still have to pay the tax for digital products. But honestly they can charge the price they want and i will continue to pay no more than 15 dollars per game

The 10$ price increase isn't gonna stop microtransactions up the ass, day one patches, games releasing broken at launch, and sports games shutting thier servers in less then 2 years. This is just greed on the publishers part as most games that also have ps4 versions aren't gonna look that much better on ps5 to a casual(next gen exclusives on the other hand might look better) so unless the price increase includes last gen versions most casuals are just gonna buy the ps4 version of say cod or assasins creed valhalla to save 10 bucks.
