Ohh a fellow AC enthusiast! Also played Broken Sword, nice! I really need to play part 5 also (stopped after part 3 Sleeping Dragon)

Best of luck with the list, you will have a lot to add with those 300 games xD

Now I feel like playing old point and click games...

#9 - Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse

Ultimate Adventurer

Tracked down all trophies

Enjoyment: 8/10

Difficulty: 3/10

I've been in love with the Broken Sword franchise since I was a kid, so having a new instalment to play was very exciting!

Having the mighty duo, George and Nico, reunited was very nostalgic. The story line was engaging and the voice acting is great.

If you're playing this to purely trophy hunt, I recommend using a guide. Especially for the hidden Joey's, or you'll have to replay the entire game again.

Just did the first part of this game myself. A few years back Sony offered the Vita version of Broken Sword on PS Plus.

This reminds me a lot of the old school LucasArts games. Secret of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Sam & Max, the list goes on. Broken Sword draws on the same type of humor, and like the old LucasArts games, you can't really die, which is a good thing.

I imagine most people who have bought this or got this because it draws inspiration from old school point and clicks are over the age of 30. I had a friend who had a bunch of these games on a CD ROM disc over 20 years ago, and I absolutely fell in love with them. I wish they would release the older Broken Sword games with trophy support.

Hullo. Thank you for the comment. I looooove Assassin's Creed and point-and-click adventure games.

I never played Broken Sword 3 or 4 (even though I have them on my Steam account), but 1, 2 and 5 are awesome.

Actually tempted to scrap the completed trophies list because the amount of images is making updating the post extremely laggy.

If you haven't played the Monkey Island games - DO IT. RIGHT NOW!

Hi Spaz, I've seen you around on the forum - thanks for stopping by.

I'm in my 30's, so I practically grew up with LucasArts games (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango) and Broken Sword.

I would absolutely love it if they released the Broken Sword games with trophy support. I know The Shadow of the Templars and The Smoking Mirror like the back of my hand.

I think The Curse of Monkey Island (the third one in the franchise) definitely needs some more love.

It's my favourite one and I was really gutted when they remastered the first two games for last gen consoles but abandoned the third one entirely.

How did you like Until Dawn? Both game wise and trophy wise?

I really liked the game because it's masking as typical teen slasher and it's not just that. And it stars my favourite actor from Agents of SHIELD show.

I am playing Man of Medan right now which has similar vibes and trophy set + coop mode so I am quite excited to go through that one, it kinda reminds me of that older horror movie Ghost Ship.

Hey there, thanks for stopping by.

I'll be totally honest - I got Until Dawn for free with PS+ in 2017 and I've been making excuse after excuse not to play it, because I do not do horror games.

I love story driven games, especially Life is Strange, Detroit Become Human and the Telltale Games (RIP), so I knew I would love this game, just not the horror side of it.

Once I got past the fact that it was going to be jumpscares galore, I actually got really invested in the story and the characters.

I genuinely wanted to keep them alive until dawn (maybe not Emily).

Trophy-wise, I thought there could've been more of them, for a start. 19, which includes the platinum, doesn't seem like an awful lot.

I did enjoy the fact that you had to save everyone and then kill everyone off, so I actually got to see how brutal the wendigos are. Thought that was a nice touch.

I actually really loved Until Dawn so much, I bought Man of Medan in the recent sale and hope to play that in the near future.

Please come back and let me know your thoughts on Man of Medan once you're finished. I'd be interested to know if it's as good as Until Dawn, or even better.

RIP TTG, but I am glad that someone bought the rights and decided to continue with The Wolf Among Us, because that game really deserves season 2 if nothing else.

I might have my perception of horror a bit shifted as I am fan of the genre, but I thought it's not that bad jumpscare wise. I am playing Man of Medan with my friend and coop buddy at this moment so there's lot of screwing around which might kinda break the atmosphere of the game, but it's pretty interesting so far, things are slowly picking up.

I loved Detroit Become Human - QD's best game so far. I thoroughly enjoyed all of their games but they really stepped up the game with Detroit.

Not sure if you noticed, but I edited my original post because I forgot to include my thoughts on Until Dawn's trophies.

I was mildly distracted, but I've gone back and answered your question - sorry about that!

100% agree with this. I cannot wait until they release the second season. I'm really hyped about it.

The Wolf Among Us is definitely one one of my favourite Telltale games, along with Tales from the Borderlands.

Glad you're having fun with it. I'm waiting for my gaming buddy to pick up a copy so we can play together too.

Is it possible to obtain all the trophies in co-op mode, or do you have to do a solo playthrough as well? I haven't looked at the trophies for it (yet).

Detroit Become Human is one of my favourite games I've played on the PS4. I absolutely loved it. Even though I've got the platinum, I'll occassionally go back and play it again.

Unlike some branching story games, I really feel that my choices do matter and I felt so invested with the characters, especially Connor and Hank.

I would say it's similar for me - The Wolf Among Us, Tales from Borderlands and both Batman games are on top of the TTG mountain.

I think there are some trophies which require solo run, but I am not honestly sure on it as I didn't go through trophies that much due to spoilers. I can verify that trophies do pop in coop mode, just not sure about some 'endgame' trophies. Given the game needs several runs just like Until Dawn, I will probably finish the game coop with my bud and clean up solo.

It's up there for me as well, but I would say that Yakuza games, especially Yakuza 0 might just be my most favourite game on PS4 - but it's difficult to pin point just a single game out of hundreds.

I know what you mean - Heavy Rain and Detroit do choices the best, probably. Beyond Two Souls was fun game but kinda disappointing when it comes to choices. And TTG offers pretty much just illusion of choice as the story plays out nearly the same for every choice, just slightly alters characters and some events.

The clean-up shouldn't be too bad if the game is as enjoyable as Until Dawn. I'm really looking forward to playing it.

These are the ones that I completed this morning. Going to work on some more this afternoon.

Yeah me and my mate also trophy hunt together, it's kinda fun to go through the whole experience together with someone. He's not hardcore trophy hunter by any means, but still enjoy the process. Clean-up isn't going to be difficult at all, just do different decisions, maybe collectibles + there are two paths in a way - coop is made alike to A Way Out where both of you can be in different areas experiencing different things.

I knew the series existed since PS2 but I never played it. I got into it couple years ago and was blown away. Top notch story with plot twists and unexpected surprises with reveals until the very last moments of the game. Main story itself is quite serious drama, most of the time, but nearly all side activities and side quests are silly fun. I would describe the game as 'You can do silly things seriously'. There are tons of different minigames from casino games, bowling, batting, karaoke and even old SEGA arcade cabinets. And now it's the best time to play them all as you can get all of them on PS4, including previous PS3-only games. And main characters are splendid - such charismatic dude with extremely hot voice.

I got Yakuza 0 either from PS plus or a sale and vi versa for Yakuza Kiwami. Yakuza 0 was a fantastic game and I had very little idea going in other than hear how much people liked the games. After that, I bought Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza 6, which were both under $20 on Amazon, and pre ordered the Yakuza 3-5 box set. I finished Kiwami recently and looking forward to play Kiwami 2 soon. My goal is to finish them all by the end of next year.

My gaming buddy and I played A Way Out together and... wow, what an experience to share with someone! By the end of it, I was in tears and he was speechless.

If the co-op is anything near as good as A Way Out, I know I'm going to love playing Man of Medan.

Hey there, Grotz. Welcome in!

Thank you for the information about Yakuza. I've seen the games on the PS Store but, for whatever reason, I didn't really pay them any mind.

I'll have a look at some spoiler-free gameplay and see if it's up my alley.

Aww, that's lovely that you shared it with your wife. I made the mistake of streaming the first two hours (I got too scared and quit) on Twitch.

My followers kept clipping me whenever I screamed blue murder into my mic and generally took the piss. At least you had moral support!

Once I play Man of Medan, I'll definitely post my thoughts on it. They're also releasing part two of The Dark Anthology: Little Hope on 30 October 2020.

The Curse of Monkey Island came out in 1997, so I was 10 when it came out. I just remember playing it all the time, along with Grim Fandango.

LucasArts never disappointed me either. You should definitely pick up a copy of The Curse of Monkey Island on Steam if you get the chance.

Guybrush steals a ring from LeChuck's treasure hold, proposes to Elaine, puts the ring on her finger and she turns into a solid gold statue.

The whole plot of the game is Guybrush trying to find Elaine (he leaves her on the beach to get help and she gets stolen) and finding an uncursed ring to replace the cursed one.

It's utterly fantastic. The humour is spot on and the game is just as random as the first two.

Well it's good to see somebody in my age group who appreciates old school classic games. We seem to be a dying breed.

Honestly, I firmly believe that it was LucasArts (and Monkey Island in particular) that got me into gaming.

I had a Sega Mega Drive (Sega Genesis in the US) when I was young and I would play Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, etc on that.

I would always prefer point-and-click games.

Broken Sword, Monkey Island and Grim Fandango are my favourite point-and-click games of all time. Whenever I see a point-and-click game released on PS4, I buy it.

The Deponia series was decent, but nothing will ever compare to the "golden era" point-and-clickers, in my opinion.

I'll be playing Edna and Harvey: The Breakout today, hopefully.

They're the same console technically.

I absolutely loved the old Sierra point and click games, however because of their point of no return and the many death situations, I preferred LucasArts. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is my favorite of the old point and clicks from them. Good humorous acting, multiple paths to take, easy to get into. Plus it was Indiana Jones, I mean cmon he was fucking great.

Will have to agree with you. Broken Sword 5 caught me by surprise because it bears so much resemblance to the old LucasArts games. Some of the voice actors sounded just like some of the voice actors in the old games.

Deponia I think is good.

However I have to say I never liked TellTale a great deal. TellTale is basically the modern era point and click for the mainstream gamer. It has a lot of what I don't like. Forced acting, like TellTale's Batman and The Enemy Within. Forced characters, like Lucius Fox's daughter in The Enemy Within. Dumbed down game mechanics, I mean let's be real here, TellTale requires absolutely no thought process. They treat the audience like dumb monkeys.

Broken Sword 5 in comparison, while it's relatively easy compared to many older point and clicks, does a much better job in respecting it's audience. TellTale doesn't. TellTale is like modern day Hollywood. Throw in a crappy superhero movie with forced acting and plot.

The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us are the only TellTale games I've liked that I've done on my profile. All the other stuff is pretty meh in my opinion. Especially Guardians of the Galaxy, that shit looks fucking atrocious.

Rolf Saxon did the voice acting for George Stobbart for The Shadow of the Templars, The Smoking Mirror, The Sleeping Dragon and The Angel of Death.

I was so grateful that he returned to do the voice acting for George in The Serpent's Curse. What an absolute legend.

I think they've had a different voice actress to play Nicole Collard in every Broken Sword game, but it's not entirely noticable because of the heavy French accent.

I wouldn't even class Telltale games as point-and-clickers. They're more of a story-driven "adventure game" because of the QTEs and puzzles, etc.

I don't think the point of the Telltale games is to challenge the audience in a strenuous way.

It's more of an emotional connection to the characters, feeling the weight of the choices you make and, ultimately, having to make tough decisions in shit situations.

Killing Lee was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in my gaming career and, to this day, it still upsets me that he got bitten and died. I can't tell you how much I cried.

Definitely agree that the Telltale games are very hit and miss when it comes to their story and execution. Game of Thrones and Guardians of the Galaxy especially.

They made a massive impact with The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us and I'm clamouring for a second season of the latter. I don't care who it's developed by. I want it.

They had a lot of great voice actors back then.

If you grew up on 1990s cartoons like me, you know Jim Cummings, Charlie Adler, Rob Paulsen, Kath Soucie, etc etc. Can't forget Mark Hamill playing the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series or Kevin Conroy playing as Batman. Almost shit my pants when I found out over a decade ago they were going to play their respective roles in Batman Arkham Asylum.

That's true in many respects, but I still classify them in the general category because a good majority of people can't sit through those old style point and clicks. Trying to solve something like Monkey Island way back in the day was rough because there was no internet. Many younger people today don't have the attention span to sit through something like that, plus these indie point and clicks turn them off a great deal because they want style and not substance.

The Walking Dead made TellTale mainstream. They made Tales of Monkey Island (which I've done), Sam and Max, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. None of that captivated the masses like The Walking Dead did.

However they just kept copying the same formula over and over and over. It was the same kind of style with the same type of characters, like a modern day Nickelodeon cartoon that's been running for too long. The first Walking Dead was great and it gave TellTale Games recognition because of how good Lee and Clementine were. But as time went on their games just became more and more formulaic, plus they were working on too many projects at once.

So when they finally hit rock bottom in 2018, I wasn't surprised in the least.

Apart from the games I listed, I just don't think TellTale was all that great.

The Walking Dead has run it's course. The Wolf Among Us is good for a second season. Don't care for Game of Thrones.

It's fantastic, innit? When I finally started playing Yakuza series, I played only that for about 6 months straight. Going 0 to 6 and then back for trophies.

My gaming buddy and I played A Way Out together and... wow, what an experience to share with someone! By the end of it, I was in tears and he was speechless.

If the co-op is anything near as good as A Way Out, I know I'm going to love playing Man of Medan.

Same here, such a well crafted coop experience. I would enjoy more like those. It felt like a two people truly cooperating, not just two people doing the same thing in the same space.

Not to bring the mood down but I think that's how general publishers thinks of us anyway, if you look at all the FIFAs,CoDs, Battle Royales and other micro transaction-ridden games. They'd rather re-hash a money earning formula than create something new and unique. Which I understand why, business and all that, but it still sucks.

Agree with this. The way gaming has evolved over the years, the younger generations just want to do the whole hack 'n' slash, beat 'em up, stabby-stab kill kill games.

The gaming market is over-saturated with games like Call of Duty. Don't even get me started on the whole Battle Royale hype that happened either.

If you sat them down in front of a classic point-and-click game like Broken Sword or Monkey Island, I wouldn't be surprised if they got bored with it very quickly.

Even so, I still appreciate that some developers still make the more "chill" genre of game. I mean, I love Artifex Mundi games and I buy them as soon as they release on PS4.

As I said above, this is the kind of thing that the current generation is releasing now and, in a way, it saddens me that the gaming market is full of crap like this.

It's the same in Hollywood with films. Rather than investing money in making a film that is "unique" and risky, they re-hash the same old formulas, making sequel after sequel.

Gaming is exactly the same and it's really, really sad.

I haven't played the Skybound final season of The Walking Dead yet. I think I'm still sore about what happened to Telltale Games.

I am, however, extremely hyped about the new season of The Wolf Among Us. I just hope they don't mess it up!

I played Game of Thrones because I'm a fan of the books/show and I enjoyed that they put the characters from there into the game, along with the new Forrester house.

One reason I buy indies.

Sometimes you just have to find the needle in the haystack. Don't get me wrong all those games can be fun. But there is virtually no creativity. That's why I gave up on Madden NFL games so long ago. It's the same thing every year, and EA Sports is the only company that can make Madden games. Plus all their games are virtually a mess on release.

I enjoy Assassin's Creed and the occasional modern first person shooter as much as the next guy..... but I sometimes get bored just by how they make the same formula.

+1000 to everything you said. Plus today's kids don't have the attention spans like we did. Sort of reflective in the cartoons they watch too.

I think this started happening around PS3/X360 generation with FPS and MOBA games. It's just that trends change over time. That's why I love and support unique games even if they are indie projects, because we need that. We need games to be diverse. That's why I support games like RAD and Neon Abyss and PSVR games, because it's a fresh air for the gaming.

Oh I am not dissing those games in any way, I do play most games that are released as well, but it's getting more and more difficult to find something unique and creative with each passing year of gaming. So for inspiration, do tell your favourite indies of this year.

I LOVE Assassin's Creed. I played the original game on the Xbox 360 and I knew it had its flaws, but I still loved playing it.

After Assasin's Creed II was released, righting all the wrongs of the original game, I knew that the franchise would be something I was willing to invest in.

Ubisoft have had their issues when it comes to crowd-pleasing, if you will. I just think they did a smashing job with listening to fans and re-working their formula, rather than re-hashing. Once they'd perfected the formula, they stuck with it - but it worked! A lot of people fell off playing Assassin's Creed because the games felt to "same-y", which I can understand.

However (and this is a massive bone of contention with me), when Ubisoft decided to change the formula again for the Assassin's Creed games, they got so many complaints from fans. Ubisoft were damned if they did and damned if they didn't when it came to releasing more AC games.

Personally, I loved the shift to RPG in Origins and Odyssey and I currently have Valhalla on pre-order. It just pisses me off that people say they're not Assassin's Creed games anymore. They are Assassin's Creed games. They're just in a different format because everyone bitched and moaned about the previous ones being too similar, now they're too different? Please.

Sorry for the rant.

I'm totally with you on this. I mostly play indie games and the occasional AAA game that sparks my interest (like Assassin's Creed).
