(Good) Online Buckle Glitch

I've noticed that if I quit the game and return after a while or travel to a new area through the online menu, while I do something that contributes to a grindy award (picking an herb, getting a revolver heads hot, killing an animal), I am automatically awarded 500 XP and a gold buckle. This has happened several times (kill enemies, revolver headshot, rifle headshot, spending money in the store), so I think it is a glitch in the system. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a definitive way to pull off the glitch to get fast XP/ help with buckles? Hope this helps people get some XP.
