El-Sublime-
I have a PSP since 2010 and games are REALLY expensive considering that the games are now old. In my country, physic editions of games are rare to find. But taking a look onto PSN, the games of this console have a high price imo. Considering that PSN no longer works on this console and neither online from all their games, do you really pay for digital PSP games?
LoveInHell
I bought a few PSP games on my PSVITA but ended up not really playing them. I think the prices for PSP games now are way too high and I don’t plan on buying any more PSP games further because 1. I notice that having a nostalgia trip doesn’t last long and what’s in the past is in the past 2. A bit of a sad reasoning but I feel a little bummed out when having no trophies on PSP games.
JaM
Yeah... but it has been awhile and I am pretty sure I bought them because they were on sale (FF Tactics and Duodecim IIRC). And yeah... they are expensive and worse is, PSN does not have the games I wanted to replay - Crisis Core and Valkyrie Profile... oh well.
Folkenio
I've never owned a PSP, but I have a VITA. So far, the only PSP game I have there is Final Fantasy Tactics: War of The Lions. I'll buy more sometime if they get cheap, but, to answer the question, not so much.
DaivRules
I have just about every PSP game I would want on UMD. There’s a couple I have considered purchasing digital so I could also play them on Vita, but they’re in my Wish List, since I have a hard time justifying rebuying games I have within reach just to play on a different console. I’m mostly looking at Jeanne D’Arc and Final Fantasy Tactics since I already repurchased Disgaea 1 and 2 a while ago. But I’ve already repurchased Tactics at least three times, I don’t think I can go for a fourth.
kfree7
Do not buy them anymore but have about 25 physical copies. Collectors dream.
Super-Fly Spider-Guy
Stopped a few years ago for various reasons, most of which have already been outlined here. I got a PSP in 2007 and only got the internet at the very very veeeery end of 2009, and with it, 6GB a month with ridiculous fees for going over. So when a buddy bought a PSP preowned with a memory card that had Crash 3 and Cool Boarders on it, while I was excited to find out what this PSN thing was, the biggest thing I remembered was the size of the files. Crash 1 was like 600MB or so so I never got it until a year or two later on a new internet plan. I bought all sorts of shit on my PSP digitally, hundreds of games, Minis, PS1 Classics, even proper full blood PSP games on sale where I could, got the 10 game PSP Go pack too, I loved my damn PSP. And then the Vita came out and I got that in early 2013 when I stacked enough PS+ games and it had a sale low enough (200 bucks, pretty well the lowest it ever got for a new one outside of clearances) to justify. I went on to rebuy plenty of PSP games I had on UMD when they hit sales to replay them on the Vita with the second stick. The GTAs, Warriors, Battlefronts, Killzone, Ratchet, Legos, etc. but the problem is a lot of games, like GTA, map camera control to holding L and then using the stick which kind of makes having an extra stick useless, as with honestly everything about the Vita, I wish they put a bit more work into the PSP emulator, if they let you map what you wanted a bit more than "right stick does X, O, Triangle, and Square" or "right stick does dpad" and call it a day, I'd have likely rebought a bunch more, if I could map the right stick to be "hold L and move main stick", I'd still not be able to move the camera *and* walk because it would think the left stick is in use, but I'd be able to at least use the right stick as a camera control. Shit like that would have made rebuying the games a better time. Anyway, here's the real reasons I stopped, which again, several of which have been mentioned 1. The prices are fucking ridiculous. I understand they don't go on sale anymore because no one's buying them, but no one is ever going to buy them again either if that's the only option, so either put every game up for sale for it's historic lowest price and see if anyone jumps in last minute, or kill the PSP side of the store. It never got all the games anyway, fuck all really, which leads to 2. There's fuck all games on there. As with any console, you've got all your Rockstar games and several other big name studios who still have all the rights to their shit, but beyond that there's so much missing. The Tony Hawks and Spider-Man games for example, are ones I take everywhere on every console ever and from both franchises, the only thing you can play from either on PS Vita is the watered down port of the already average game Amazing Spider-Man. No Lego Star Wars 2 despite Disney re-releasing it on 360 via back compat, and despite the PS2 version which is identical to the PSP one (well the PSP one has 3 bonus levels but otherwise) being available on PS3 digitally (but not PS4 either, dang it), it's all bullshit. 3. I found out just how fucking easy it is to pirate on PSP like 5 or so years ago, and the glory of a MicroSD to Memory Stick Pro adapter, allowing me to throw a $5 64GB card into my PSP 3000 and just call it a day. I could go higher too but that fits all my faves on there, fucking love the thing, but also, 4. PSP games look FUCKING TERRIBLE on Vita. Holy shit why do they look so bad, the Vita's screen is not that much bigger than the PSP's, I'm not asking for a massive upscale effort or anything but damn they look fucking disgusting on there, the only PSP games I consistently keep on my Vita because of this are Crazy Taxi and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (which works great with the second stick thankfully). But if you want your games to look good, 5. Emulation. God damn PPSSPP on my NVIDIA Shield TV makes these games look incredible on a 55 incher with upscaling 5X and shit, Spider-Man 2 honest to God looks like an early 360 game blown up that big in HD, it's incredible, it's beyond night and day. And with an emulator, you can map whatever you want to whatever you want, so I got proper triggers for when you swing in Spidey 3, I got a proper second stick for watching those wrist rockets in Battlefront 2, and best of all, since you can only skate with the dpad in the 2 PSP Tony Hawk games, I map the dpad to the joystick and can finally play it like normal. 6. Bonus point, a good bunch of the ones you can buy digitally aren't even compatible with the Vita anyway, Rock Band Unplugged for example is one of these games, which fucking sucks because I loved that game, but I guess, I still have my trusty 3000 for that one. Point being, emulation is just such a good option with so many features and selling points that if every game for PSP went $1 for a day and they said they were gonna take them down tomorrow, sure, I'd buy a good 50 or so just for the fuck of it, despite already owning them on UMD in the day and probably having them on my 3000's MicroSD, but I'd still choose to play them via the emulator 9.5 times out of 10. shadowhood1111
I personally have a modded/homebrewed ps3 console for the sole purpose of filling it with psp/ps1/ps2 games that O always wanted to play but never got as a kid. I don't really wanna spend money on older games when I can just download the files for free and stick em on my console.
