Is It Just Me Or Are The Pharaoh's Shadow Encounters Totally Bugged?

I've had the Pharaoh's Shadow encounters appear four times now. The first time, I fought it and beat it, no problem. The second time, a few moments into the fight and he disappeared, with a message coming up that the Shadow had returned to the afterlife. The third time, I was in the middle of fighting it and then my character just randomly respawned. I hadn't died or anything but the game just randomly reloaded my most recent save as if I had died. At first I thought I had triggered a cutscene or something but no. The fourth time, I got to the marker where it said the Pharaoh's Shadow was and then the marker just disappeared with no Shadow ever appearing.
